Help with Rebooting wiping storage

Hello everyone,
I would post this in the development thread but I can't since I am a ne user. Anyway..
I am currently on InFamous switching between the 2.4 TW version and the Google Edition v2.0.
My problem is every time I reboot my phone, it gets stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 boot image. Then when I go to recovery the Internal storage shows 0 MB available, and I can't fix permissions or wipe anything without having to format data first. The only way to boot my phone again, is to format data, wipe everything, and reinstall the ROM which is very annoying and time consuming.

Have you tried this:
Before doing anything, be sure to back up the internal sdcard to a folder on your computer if you have anything you
want to save on the internal sdcard. Also be sure that the Google Edition zip file rom is on your "external" sdcard.
When the phone is flashed and ready to use go into settings>accounts tab>backup and reset>"Factory data reset".
Click on the factory data reset.
After doing that reboot into cwm or twrp which ever you are using and do a full wipe as you usually do but don't
forget to include "Factory reset".
Then flash the Google Edition rom as you normally have done and it should fix the problem you are having hopefully.

Unfortunately, this did not work =(. Again, as soon s I reboot, I get stuck on the Samsung screen and have to pull out the battery. Then, in recovery my Internal storage has 0 MB aeven though the folders are empty.

Have you tried holding the power button, home key and the volume up key all at the same time to boot in recovery? If not do a battery pull and do it when turning the phone back on

If you already tried to Odin flash the STOCK rom and formatted your internal sdcard and you still find "0 MB"
in your internal storage then it must be a hardware issue and if I were you I would return/exchange the phone.

It's not a hardware issue. It's a bug in twrp. Whenever you do "format data" it corrupts the data partition. Use PhilZ Touch recovery. His recovery includes the fix. Try it.

Hello, any progress please? I have exactly the same issue.

I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265588&page=23 this solution:
I wanted to clean my internal SD card before flashing Omega ROM, so I used Format Data option from Wipe section in TWRP.
After that I lost almost two days trying to fix my phone. Flashed stock ROM, TWRP and Omega ROM endless times without success after that.
My phone became randomly unbootable on reboot or power on! It was stuck on i9505 logo that is shown before boot animation forever. It was same for both stock and Omega ROM, with or without external micro SD.
After endless tries, I figured out that my phone works fine if I do factory reset and wipe from original recovery. Worked fine before and after flashing TWRP.
I tired to Format Data from TWRP again and my phone again was stuck on boot.
So I did everything once more. Flashed stock, did factory reset and wipe from original recovery and then installed TWRP and in the end I flashed Omega without wiping anything.
Everything works just fine now and I will not try to use Format data option from TWRP on this device in near time! Please fix this.
First I used TWRP 2.5.0.1 and then 2.5.0.2, but it is same in both of them.

Now I'm downloading stock rom so I'll try it in next 2 hours.

bet you guys previously flashed a aosp rom, I could be wrong, but it sounds as if you did.

It says so in the OP... going between TW and Google Edition 2.0.. Out of curiosity though, what difference would that make? I have flashed and have backups of two versions of TW and quite a few AOSP variants... I can move between them seamlessly and haven't encountered any such problems as the OP. I use TWRP as well.

It was TWRP problem. I have flashed the stock ROM with stock recovery. I have done full wipe and my phone works well again. This is bug in TWRP. Don't push "format data" button!

CM13 Not Starting - Accidentally Wiped TWRP

I've gone and screwed up again. I managed to root and install TWRP from Lollilop. Before flashing with CM13, I wiped everything except the external SD and I believe I wiped TWRP and SuperSU in the process. So then I was like, no biggie, let's root and get TWRP back on. I rooted via ADB but now when I power the phone up, it's stuck in an endless CM boot screen.
How can I resolve this. Go back to stock and start over? I really want to avoid any further screw ups hence why I am posting here.

Can anyone offer some pointers? I'm truly at loss and I don't want to brick the phone.

Yeah, sure.
So how about telling me first how you managed to wipe TWRP? I'm pretty sure there is no option under "wipe" to wipe the recovery partition?
And CM13 is rooted, all you need to do is enable it in settings, you can install SuperSU optionally if you wish to manage superuser access with it.
So like, confirm that you actually wiped recovery (still don't get it how? you used dd command?), try to enter TWRP with hardware key combination. If successful get a new CM13 zip and reflash.

Under the wipe settings of TWRP, I checked all the boxes except external SD. Then after installing CM13, the phone didn't power on unless I pulled the battery before turning it on. Also, recovery mode doesn't boot into TWRP is simply says Factory Reset? Which is the stock recovery I believe.
This is the first time that TWRP doesn't work after wiping the phone and installing CM.

No.. It is not stock. If you installed cm then you had twrp. Just click yes when asked to wipe and you will go to twrp.

Phone Requests Passwort after setting security to none from pattern

Hello!
Yesterday I installed Resurrection Remix Rom and it worked great. So I configured everything to my needs including setting the security to ask for a pattern on Restart. So everything is encrypted.
After a reboot the phone kept crashing and I tried to go back to my old system. Somehow I managed to set the security to none so I can revert to my old system. I then rebooted to Recovery but in Recovery it asked me for a password. I never set a password so I don’t know what to insert in here. I tried various stuff but nothing worked. I also can’t reboot back into the system without a password. It looks like my phone is still encrypted.
Is there any way how I can decrypt my files?
Can i "convert" my old pattern into a password and this will decrypt everything?
And if I am ok with losing my data, how can I just wipe everything and install a new rom?

easiest way to delete all your data is via twrp, select everything in twrp wipe section and execute. your phone will be completely empty now. reconnect your phone to your pc and copy paste the rom and gapps and flash.

I was in TWRP and tried to Wipe just the Data and Cache partitions but it told me that it was unable to mount storage.
I thinkt that since don't know the password i don't have permission to mount partitions.

Have you reflashing the stock recovery and doing a factory reset? After that you can reflash twrp and delete data. You can try if that works.

So you think i can mount the data partition again after a factory reset from the stock recovery?
I will try to flash the stock recovery when i get home.
I suppose i have to flash it via fastboot?

I read it on xda that this process resolves the issue and yes it has to be done via fastboot in bootloader mode. Stock recovery is available on oneplus's website.

I just flased the stock recovery via fastboot and made a factory reset.
After that I could reboot back into the system without any security question.
Sadly, all data are gone, meaning it did also wipe the internal storage partition. This is a pity but I'm really glad to have my phone back.

That’s right, but not always /sdcard

TWRP asks for a password even if you set a PIN.
enter your PIN - it should work.
my phone is encrypted running sultan's CM and TWRP asks me for a password when I go in, and my PIN works

H815 Bootloop after battery died

Hey,
So im currently on holiday and dont get back home until the 13th aug.
I was on my phone last night until i ran out of battery and the phone inevitably died. I charge it this morning and the phone is stuck on the boot animation and has a slowly flashing blue led. I do get past the lg bootloader unlocked screen too and the android boot animation runs fine, just never completes. My phone is running bootloader unlocked, twrp recovery and the imperium rom. My model is h815 and s/n is 512 prefix. The battery was running pretty bad so it might be that. Either way it is stuck in bootloop and i am not sure how to approach it. I also have some internal storage that would need backing up if possible.

That's a common issue with Imperium ROM, check post #3341 in this thread for example. Just do a clean flash and your system is back again, but sadly you will lose the apps and settings.

Thats interesting, never thought of that. I should be able to backup any files etc from the internal storage using adb right?

Simply dont wipe internal storage, only wipe data, cache, dalvik and system. THe files on your Internal storages not gonna' deleted, just reinstall the apps you had.

Another problem is that i cant boot into twrp recovery using the buttons. It brings me to the stock recovery asking to factory reset. I guess i could just wait until im home and use adb to boot into the twrp recovery.

Yep. That's what it looks like for me too. When you select factory reset, the phone actually restarts into TWRP.
Make sure you actually do have TWRP installed otherwise it will wipe your phone.
You have a custom ROM installed so I assume competence, but there's always a chance

Yeah i saw that post and was reluctant to do so as im on my holiday. Dont want to lose my pics either, even when im very sure twrp is installed correctly as i use the quick boot app to go into recovery quite often.

Bootloop SGH-1747

I need to get Data from my Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747 and it won't boot past the Samsung Logo.
Someone told me to...
"Get TWRP image for your S3 model, flash image using Odin, boot into TWRP recovery, mount storage to PC and recover data."
I'm very new and sorry lol. Could someone help me with the steps necessary? I have no idea what TWRP is. My phone is not rooted. Is there a guide with photos or a video? What do I need to download for Odin? How do I flash?
My phone is in the most recent Android for it.

I went to the post and it said I need to download to my phone from play store.
How?
My phone is not rooted and is stuck in Bootloop.

Before you do anything, try to figure out if you can boot your phone into these 2 mode:
Download mode - With the device powered off, hold Home + Volume Down + Power
Recovery mode - With the device powered off, hold Home + Volume Up + Power. (Take a picture of your recovery mode because it will tell your bootloader version)
If you can't get into those mode, your phone is likely to have a bigger problem.

The instruction is for Samsung i9305 but it will work on d2att. To flash TWRP into your phone, you need to follow this instruction. (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/i9305/install). Also you need those files:
Heimdall suite - http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/#downloads

The only way to flash stock firmware into the phone, is with the software Odin. It's basically starting your phone with a fresh firmware through 'Download Mode' with your phone (With the device powered off, hold Home + Volume Down + Power). It will erase everything.

There was a link in the thread to the official TWRP website with instructions for using Odin to install TWRP for the d2att which is the SGH-i747: : https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxys3att.html
Download the tar version of TWRP from here: https://twrp.me/Devices/ I recommend starting with version 2.8.7.0 as a starting point.
Download Odin 3.07 from here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...ntid=1168421&usg=AOvVaw0aq_x8M8nbsqDFAFe9tFoy
Download and install the Windows Samsung USB drivers: https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows. I assume you are using a Windows computer.
Make sure the battery is fully charged. Open Odin, do not check anything except f reset time, click on the PDA box and select the TWRP tar file, connect the phone in download mode to the computer with the original Samsung USB cable, flash the TWRP. When you see the word reset, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use the button combination to get into recovery. Once in recovery, mount the data partition and copy of the data.
WARNING: flashing a phone always involves risk and you could wind up with a bricked phone and/or loss of data. Proceed cautiously and at your own peril.

Yes it will, you need to figure out what's making your system bootloop and resolve it or wipe data and cache.

Any idea how to investigate?
How do I wipe data and cache on TWRP?
Would backing up Data but not system, help restore files like the memos, text messages etc?
Because I could backup the Data and then wipe factory reset and then reinstall the data backup.

The data is what makes the system bootloop in most of the cases and since you're not rooted it is certainly the data what's causing the problem so restoring it would solve nothing.
The option is there on twrp to wipe data and cache.

To inevstigate hmmm
You need to remember what you did before the bootloop happened
For example if you installed and app try to remove it and it's data using the twrp file browser.

I think you can try to remove Google Photos apps via adb and see if it does fix your bootloop issue. Since you have a backup, you can undo your steps. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559925.

Now, try wiping the cache only and reboot. It may be a cache problem that is preventing the phone from fully booting.

I wiped cache and still nothing.
Is there any other options besides factory reset?
Can the backup bring it back to the way it was or will it make it bootloop again?

I haven't used twrp for a long time but you could try restoring the backup and wipe the cache before booting.
Note that restoring your backup will overwrite what's currently in the phone storage.

Unfortunately I can only backup the current bootloop state lol.
I think there's no other option except factory reset.

The only option maybe you have is using adb to uninstall apps one by one and hope it fixes the bootloop. You can try maybe to clear the dalvik cache + cache but I think you have done that.
I have been in this situation before. It's not fun at all. The only way to backup/recover data in a modular way, is with apps like Titanium Backup [root] and Helium. Backup your app + data when the phone is working. When you have a bootloop, do a factory reset and restore the app data incrementally. They are really great apps.
