Hi
I would love to start developing Rom for Albus. Does anyone want to work with me to try to develop the Pixel Experience?
Sounds great, but what a shame that I don't have much time

If you need someone to test, you can talk to me. Telegram: +55 86 999416164.
maybe @dlproject and @Junior Passos and @davidsonsjesus and @rahulsnair are up for the task? What do you guys say?
pixel experience is awesome! i would love to have it and I'm pretty sure the community would to. Oreo or Pie it would be amazing. maybe it would be wise to wait for the release of kernels and such from Pie 9.0 for ALBUS since the current kernel is limited to android 8.0 but that would be you guyses call, if the current set of tools allows Pixel Experience to be experienced than bring it on! pretty please!!!!!
You can have the pixel experience rom using project treble.
But the vendor is outdated it. And the only man who is create rom on project treble is the developer from lineage 15.1.
In order to use the leatest version of any rom for excample AEX, Pixel Experience and other rooms the kernel must be update to the leatest security fix.
I was succsesufull flash AEX Oreo but can't update because to the older version of the security path.

could you please elaborate more specifically? I understand that project treble separates the firmware files in two categories, the essential (aka hardware) and the substantial (aka software), so we would get the essential of ALBUS and combine with the substantial of PIXEL 2, is that what you are suggesting? But for the "fusion" to work both firmwares must be on the same security patch.. is that what you mean or did I understand it incorrectly?

Yes. We have only one treble relase for the LOS 15.1 and the security patch is only to octombre. If you use version in augost you will have a bootloop.
I ask the dev in LOS 15.1 to update the treble version so we can use the vendor but he don't response.
I heard that project treble is way harder to work with then anybody anticipated and that it is currently a nightmare to be avoided. I say it's worth trying though since it's opportunity. What's the name of the dev? Ping him here in this topic

I have been using the Lenovo P2 for quite some time now. We have all received nougat on our P2 and we know that Lenovo follows a rather annoying one update policy for it's devices. Hence I believe the future of this device is faded, at least from Lenovo's point of view and would like to know which is the best official ROM for Lenovo P2 right now?
Define "official"... I think the only official ROMs are Lenovo's...

Best depends on your perspective of your usage & requirements.
Though I'd say
Offical LOS 14.1
which is getting weekly OTAs & monthly security patches. pretty stable as stock.
AOSIP 8.1 by Shubham
almost stable may be better in feature than LOS, I've used it for quite a while but its SE Linux is Permissive which causes some apps non functional.
Beside these two i also used LOS15.1 , RR & other Oreo ROMs they are currently under development but can be used as daily drivers because all major bugs like volte, nfc ect. has been solved in almost all Oreo ROMs for P2. But again SE Linux is not Enforcing in these ROMs so you'd need to root to make some apps run.
It'd say you'd try yourself which suits your requirements best use it as your daily driver.

Hey! Have you tried out the pixel experience ROM. It looks promising. Not sure about the updates and stuff as there are not a lot of people talking about it on p2. Hence the stability and reliability of that pixel experience ROM is unsure. Here is the link- https://download.pixelexperience.org/

Pixel experience is not updated for a while and it is not going to be updated, I think. You can go with AEX or Cardinal rom as these two have developer support now. Cardinal rom is official too, so OTA updates will be available. If it is nougat, only Lineage rom have weekly updates. :good:
I am getting tired of custom roms breaking every other month for me, and I just want something stable. Has treble actually done anything to help in this regard? Can I just download Android 8.1 treble without any modifications and expect it to work right out of the box, or is it wishful thinking?

Hi!
If I understand things correctly, my Moto G5 phone is born with an Android OS version that only accepts 32bit code, although the hardware is 64bit?
Why did Moto do that? It sounds like selling a car with a 6 or 8 cylinders engine, and only use 4 of them...?!
And on top of that, I discovered they stopped updating that (primitive 32bit) Android 8.1.0 OS in February 2019...
Should I switch to a custom 64bit ROM? NB!: Stability and robustness is more important to me than fancy new features...!
I found 2 lists of 'Best ROMs for Moto G5'. The shortest recommends 8 here:
https://romsx.com/best-custom-roms-for-moto-g5/
So which should I choose?
NB: Moto G5 only has 16 GB.

You will have to ask Motorola for the answer to the first part
As for custom 64bit roms:
Lineage 17.1
Lineage mint (based on lineage 17.1)
ASOP android 10
Are the latest custom roms for this device (see dev section)
All will have the same issue with regards to camera/video recording not working fully

Thank you for your reply!
But what about ROMs that have been more tested in real life, where camera and video etc. work?
Yes - it is Motorola that should answer my first questions. I don't expect any answer from them... But others might have a comment...

All 64bit roms will have the camera issue as Motorola have not released updated camera libs
The roms I listed above are the latest roms which will have the camera bug minimised but you will still experience issues in some apps like only being able to take a certain amount of photos before the app freezes, camera not working in low light, green tint, video not recording/saving and so on. You can use various other apps but nothing is perfect and you may still experience issues
The only fully functioning custom rom with no bugs will be the 32bit lineage 14.1

That is the most useful information I have yet seen about custom ROMs - thank you!
But according to https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/7-1-x-lineageos-14-1-moto-g5-t3611973 LineageOS 14.1 for Moto G5 is:
ROM OS Version: 7.1.x Nougat
Last Updated 2018-03-18
And the 'stock' OS on my Moto G5 is Android 8.1.0 updated in February 2019.
My intention was to UPgrade my OS, not DOWNgrade it... !
So THAT LineageOS 14.1 doesn't really seem relevant.
And on https://download.lineageos.org/ there doesn't seem to be a version for Moto G5(?) There are versions for G4 and G6, but not G5. (Neither under Lenovo - the actual producer.)
But thanks anyway!

Only official versions will be on the lineageos website
There is no difference between an official and unofficial version except the official versions are built on the lineage servers every week with any lineage side changes (not device side unless merged by maintainer)
However official versions have to meet certain criteria in terms of everything that works in stock rom must work in the unofficial lineage build submitted to become official.
As the camera doesn't work as it does in stock in lineage 17.1 it will never become official in its current state
They are listed under Motorola because that is the company that makes the phones
Lenovo is the parent company that owns Motorola

Actually even I was thinking of graphene os but saw this -Why graphene os can't be build & Is there grapheneos compatible device possible with off the shelf hardware like raspberry pi?
There has been an attempt to build grapheneos for an OnePlus device but i remember the project got stopped as they could not really build it and there are people who have successfully build calyxos for poco devices for example poco X3 pro
Ah, it's sad.
So I will try for Calyx os then for sure.

I wish I could be possible because few people did try to port/build grapheneos but they failed to do it.
Btw there's also an option rather than building calyxos or grapheneos, i heard sebaubuntu(dev) is going to release lineageos soon so if he releases the vanilla build which he probably would of he's going to release it officially, we could install microg, f-droid, aurora store, signal, we do have to root out devices for it though
SparkOs has features of GraphenOs in the vanilla version, such as Sandbox.

So I did try sparkos and sadly there's no security features of graphene os that I can use only thing you could use is it's camera.
One good update for the people who wanted to de-google their phone (not really)
One of f4's respected developers 'masarou' is building lineageos 20.0 for munch
and will release a vanilla build of it as soon it gets stable, when the build gets released you guys can install vanilla build of it and then can install
* microg for secure google services experience
* Aurora Store, fdroid for app downloads
* Briar for messaging
* Orbot for enhancing security
* Bromite, Tor Browser for browsing
I'm not familiar with CalyxOS, but for those who want the AOSP experience sans Google, you can run an AOSP GSI. The packages with "GMS" in the title have Gapps; they do have some Vanilla flavors available as well.

Basically calyxos is an rom which is based on security the rom is fully de-googled so that Google can't spy on you and many more useful security features which you won't get in other roms you could search it on Google/YouTube and know what it is in depth

It seems like you could get this from a bare vanilla AOSP build, such as the Android Continuous Integration builds. These are pure AOSP - no Google anything added.
I mean yeah I do am using a vanilla build of lineageos and I have the same features as calyx.
Btw I did have tried the pure Android too that also was great but cause of no customisation i deleted it.
Btw thanks for showing interest
