Hey guys I just saw a 3500mAh battery for SGS2 on ebay. Is it safe to use such battery? I mean it won't harm the phone, will it? :O

I bought a 3500mAh obscurely branded Chinese battery in mid-December. Tried it out for almost two weeks, a bunch of charge/discharge cycles & estimated its real capacity was around 1900mAh. It also used to heat up a lot on recharge (mid-high 40's Celsius, which isn't normal when the phone isn't being used whilst charging).
I took it back, got a refund & bought an original Samsung 2000mAh battery. Hasn't missed a beat, is obviously close to its advertised capacity given I get around 20% more use out of a charge than I do with a 1600mAh battery.
Obviously your mileage may vary if you buy one of these (you might have a better experience than I did), just thought I'd let you know about my experience.

Well i heard that their batteries exploded in their phones......so be careful.....better pay for a better one instead of having a chance to ruin your expensive phone.

I have one of those I got from DealExtreme and it is great. It lasts 2x longer than the original Samsung battery.
I take care not to swap them often, because I am afraid that this action might damage the original cover, eventually breaking it.

I am still using the 1650 mAh battery (stock) for my S2.
I am really facing some battery issues. Its charging almost all day !
Yes I am using 3G all day and WiFi HotSpot too. But use wifi at home. Thats when I get good battery life. Any better way to conserve some battery ?

It's really frustrating that my current stock battery is only enough for 2 hd video view (4-5 hours).
Also, the higher the mAh value the more battery lifetime is, right?
I would really want to buy 3500 mAh, but it costs so little.
And the official Samsung variant that offers the longest lifetime of a battery for SGS2 is this one, maybe Mugen 3500 mAh is the best choice out there?

Really now, if it was possible to manufacture a battery having more than double the capacity of the stock battery while taking up the same volume, don't you think the megacorporate Samsung would buy that technology immediately in order to use it themselves ? "Too cheap to be true" is valid even here; most knock-off batteries either are fake ("9999 mAH SUPER EXTRA" sticker over the original rating), or will degrade quickly in time leaving you with a dud.
Since there are already fake electronic components...
... why not fake and cheap batteries too, certainly seems to be a high demand for them.
a. it is not the same volume! in is twice as much as the original.
b. the i9100 has a circuit that allows a slow stable charge rate so i dont think it will damage the battery.
As well as being made of inferior materials, not being subjected to the same QC, not having the fuel gauge chip present in original Samsung batteries, you pretty much get what you pay for.
My advice would be to avoid non-original batteries altogether, and given a 2000mAh original battery will cost around the same as one of these 3000mAh+ batteries with all their problems & poor life, it's a no brainer.
Stick with Samsung batteries.

well i think that you misunderstood the meaning fuel gauge.
there is no chip in the battery that is in charge of the fuel gauge.
furthermore there is no use of recalibrating the battery in out i9100 model.
all you gave me is a link you Google...
please... show me that chip! i would like to learn something new about lithium batteries..

Hi,
I am looked several hours for a response to my question, but have not found any answers. I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I am looking for a higher capacity battery, but one that is the same size as the original. I am not looking for the extended batteries that have new backs that come with the sale. The battery should be able to slide right into the phone and attach the original cover. I am perfectly alright with spending a decent amount of money for the improved battery.

Unless someone can prove me wrong, I think all of those listings with higher mah are bs. You're best with just buying a few OEM Samsung batteries. You can also buy the external charger(+phone dock) from Samsung, or a 3rd party one from ebay (charging on ebay one is extremely slow)
i am testing the hyperion battery 4000mah right now, final verdict will be on saturday. doing the charging as per instruction.
Yeah bigger battery but fits under the same back is a myth. Mugen claims to have a 2300 but I am not sure if it is for real.

they have quality battery in the past. i own 2-3 of their battery and you get what you pay for.
yea the only way would be able to is if they make some modified Chemical for their Cells.
Or (more likely) they just dont follow the same expansion tolerances that OEM manufactures do so they can cram fatter Cells with slightly higher capacity into the same opening in the phone back.
I wouldn't just dimiss the Mugen battery, they're the only one so far that has 3.8v spec on their batt, which from little research is different chem from 3.7v.
And if the phone is regulating the charge, then charging these 3rd party 3.7v batteries with our built in charger will kill these batteries in a hurry.
without NFC and less regulated (less safer) packaging i can see extra 200mAh possible. but not worth $45 IMO>

Are there any differences between how the phone charge and how these 3rd party devices charge? Won't they all stop when the batteries reach 4.2v? The HTC rezound comes with either a 3.7v or 3.8v battery and I've not seen any indication that swapping batteries is a problem.
This thing looks reasonably easy to replace the battery.My Mrs who has this phone is complaining about the battery life in her phone. I've seen a few larger capacity batteries which sound like a good idea but I guess there are lots of rubbish ones out there. Any experiences out there?

Highly not recommended to use any other batteries than OEM / Sony. And there a lot of cheap batteries out there which claim to have 2000-2500ma. Also it is not that easy to remove the battery. I have an Acro S and it is sealed tight!
Xperia LT26 Replacment Battery
Firstly, any non-OEM replacement battery for most early Sony Android phones(those I have tested) do not report temperature.
This is not good for a phone that can often run at high temperatures and where apps/system rely on battery temperature for system controls.
Mugen Power has also confirmed to me that their Sony replacement batteries do not provide temperature to the system controls.
You can replace the battery in the Sony Xperia S, but you do need to take some care, that no ribbon cables are damaged in doing so.
The Xperia S is not water resident and doesn't have any 'seals' to contend with when gaining access to the battery.
I have tested a 'cheap' PISEN BA800 1700mAh battery in an Xperia S and it gave comparable performance to the original BA800 1700mAh battery. The overall long term life of the battery could be another story.
There are many replacement batteries for the Xperia S, but I'd stay will clear of any battery claiming 2000mAh and above.
They're cheap for a reason.
I have long speculated (but never tested) that the Mugen Power BA800 1800mAh battery for the Xperia V (LT25) would work in an Xperia S (LT26).
Please do your own research on this, before any purchase.
I would only recommend an original Sony BA800 replacement battery for the Xperia S (LT26).
I have friends who tried to change battery (not on XperiaS) and someone had a fine feedback. But other had many many many problems with temperature, indication on phone and one exploded!!!

MPJ has a 2500 mah battery for the xs. It seems to have only positive reviews. I don't know how they managed to squeeze in 2500 mah in the same dimensions as our 1750 unit....

This is my first post on xda ever! I'm currently into that topic... I tested one battery a few days ago claiming to have 2680mah capacity! It says something like Gold battery bla bla... Well I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS BATTERY! It has nowhere near that capacity... It is even worse than the original... Right now I have another one from a company called "extremecells". They are making a promise on their homepage saying that if you find another battery of the same size with more real capacity than theirs, they would give you 100€! And that counts for all of their batteries... Well I ordered one 1750mah BA800 battery which I use right now and it is already much much better than the one before... I ordered another one from a site called batteryupgrade.com (or. org or something). There is a battery from Max Power claiming to contain 2100mah! That one is still on its way to me... I will keep you updated on that one when it arrives!
For now I can recommend the battery from extremecells!

i replaced my SL's battery(i believe the model as written on the battery itself is: SP50KERA10) with a OEM BA800 & it's OK so far. No better than the original but not worse either. But I did that cuz I couldnt find an exact repalcement for this in my country. If its the same in your case then u cud try it out.

I tested the battery and just like the other gold one it's garbage. Both fall from around 35% to 1% and then the phone shuts down and the batteries are empty... I put the original back in and downloaded an app called advanced bttery calibrator... it calibrates the battery and then shuts the phone down and wants you to load the battery to 100% while the phone is off... well somehow my phone boots up by itself after a short while... (like 10 minutes). My XS runs Carbon ROM Beta 9 now but had the same problem with cm10 FXP before... I try to go back to stock sony UI now and then I will see if the problem is still there... then I'll keep testing batteries again

Of course Extremecells doesn't have a replacement battery for your phone, because you can't remove the Sony Xperia Ion battery - it is built in... Btw battery life of your phone is inconsistent, many people are complaining about the battery.
The Xperia S I have is from autumn 2012 and I wonder if someone can make a prediction out of experience how much more battery time one would gain, when a new (original) battery is inserted after all this time of use. I would be satisfied to just have an opinion like
1) you will not have a substantial improvement
2) phone will run longer but only up to 25% more
3) there will be a huge positive effect (like 50% or more)

If You are from India,I got this battery, it seems to be working fine and lasts nearly a day, as it runs on Lollipop ROM's now. Maybe it will last more on stock ROM. You can use coupons to reduce the price.

I changed the battery of my xperia S few weeks ago after 3 years. The battery life is really improved. I don't able to say the percent value, but before the substitution I will arrive at the evening without battery; now instead i have always 40 % of battery as minimum value.
I also use the phone more respect before beacuse I know that I arrive in any case at the evening so i think that my old battery was really worn!

Well, I don´t know if the Xperia S uses BA900 battery, I have bought the 2500mAh MPJ battery for my Xperia M (BA900 replacement) and the real capacity is approx 2000-2100mAh (20% better than the stock 1700mAh BA900 battery), so I think for Xperia S it would be the same. I have read in most forums, that MPJ are one of the few manufacturers that really have better capacity than stock batteries, but the real capacity improvement is only about 15-20% above the stock batteries, depending on the type.

I already changed it once for the genuine 2300mAh battery a few years ago and now it's starting to die too.
So since I wanna get a new battery, I told myself I might as welI get one with higher capacity (like these ones on AliExpress: QCKBST, XINBONG, HSABAT, LOSONCOER) and I wanted to know if someone ever tried non-genuine high capacity replacement batteries.

It's been quite a while since we talked about it and people reported regularly about their battery replacements here on XDA for their nexus 5.
With this thread I'm just going to try and ask for help to the modding community, as I've been through hell and back, and after many batteries purchased, dremel quests, soldering smokes, fingers burned and quite a bit of swearing, I'm still here, stuck with a provisory battery (the only LG G2 one that managed to not die) that boasts the astonishing capacity of 1630mAh.
I've become a walking charger man, always looking for the next electric socket to plug my N5 into.
This has to stop.
So I gave up my search engines quest and I'm asking for your human help.
I'm picturing this thread as some kind of "summary thread", in which we sum up our experiences and our successes, and see what works and what doesn't.
Please post your experience in here if you've been successful in extending your Nexus 5 battery life with a battery mod, and please indicate where you bought the battery (paste the shop link)
So, as far as I understand, it looks like:
° Some korean guy bought the 525666 3020 mAh battery from taobao and managed to slam it into the N5 dremeling the chassis. This option, however, isn't viable, as european and american people cannot have batteries shipped to them from China (something about safety regulations), so we Westerners cannot adopt this solution.
° The LG g2's 3000 mAh batteries are too old and will yield abysmal charge (see my experience with it). On top of that, there's virtually no way to know if you're receiving an original one
° Someone said that the N5X batteries are a viable option, and 2700mAh are enough.
° Looking through these N5 battery replacement threads, I've come to know that the 3020 525666 battery from taobao is actually the Xiaomi Mi4 battery. Is this true? If it is, westerners could purchase one outside taobao on ebay or amazon or similar. Would purchasing the Mi4 battery and modding it with the original N5 battery circuit be a good solution? However the voltage of this battery is 4.40V, much higher than the 3.8V of the original. Is this okay or not?
The N5X option is certainly viable, however before spending more money, I'd like to make all the options clear for me and for all the people that are still interested in this mod.

The truth is you can do the Lg G2 battery mod on a lot of batteries (And devices) it source doesn't need to be the Lg G2 battery and the destination doesn't need to be the Nexus 5. The main things you should consider are the Voltage and the Dimensions of the battery:
Voltage: You want the SAME as the OEM
mAh: Higher means longer lasting(Not always but assuming the Wh rating is also higher in the battery)
Wh: Same as OEM or Higher
As for how you can use a 4.4V battery to replace the 3.8V phone. The answer is simple the 3.8V is the nominal voltage rating of the LiPo battery meaning that the power delivery of it is actually between 4.35V and 3.0V (as stated on the OEM Battery). So the fully charged battery will output 4.35V that said if you put a 4.4V battery in a phone that's rated for 3.8V the circuit will stop charging the battery at 4.35V. That said the 4.4V minimum voltage is almost the same but a higher maximum voltage I.e 4.4V vs 4.35V. So Tl:dr you can but it's not the best idea.
Now since you want to get more battery capacity, look at alternative LiPo Batteries for batteries that will fit into the Nexus 5. A good starting point would be BL-T32 and BL-T34. Dimensions might not be exactly the same as I have yet to try but the battery itself will work. Alternatively assuming you have a 3d printer you could just get away with printing a new backplate and don't have to worry about the Dimensions of the new battery.

copy pasted from my other reply, i just wanna share my thoughts. i bought a 3rd party battery straight from their official seller, here it is called SHOPEE.com: LOG-ON battery, claims to have 3500mah, which i doubt. but the good thing is, i found a manufactured stickered on physical battery 04/2018. so yea, might as well buy third party one. it is newer, less hassle. and in dollar, its about $4 shipped.

Chinese Batteries Explained.
There are 3 Major Common Battery Mislabelers in China:
LOSONCOER
HSABAT
DA DA XIONG
Lets break down what each of them do:
TL;DR: POLARCELL for aftermarket batteries don't trust any of these 3.
HSABAT: Buys and sells lower end OEM batteries. When a company I.e samsung/google/apple or any brand orders a batch of batteries they are tested and the batch is ranked based on the tests. Normally higher end brands only accept the best batches. So the mid tier batches end up being bidded on by battery sellers or other resellers. HSABAT is one of these resellers. Except the batches that are normally bid on are 4-6 so the first 3 are normally bought off by the time HSABAT gets access to these for bids and might not even win the tier 4 and only the tier 6. So the batteries are Mislabeled Batteries none the less. I.e they are much lower capacity then stated but they are made at the same plant the OEM are made at.
Da Da Xiong: These guys buy USED OEM batteries and relabel them as well as joining on the bids for the lower tier batteries against HSABAT. I.e they are mislabeled if you lucky its a used OEM.
LOSONCOER: Same as first 2 but doesn't have as much sales so tends to be even lower end then the other 2. I.e doesn't have the profit needed for major bids. Also goes as far as to tell people that the readings are wrong and not to rip off the labels of the batteries to reveal the OEM logo to avoid unrest and lower reviews.
For people still looking for good batteries and dont live in the EU so PolarCell batteries are quite expensive should check out NOHON. They Ship for much cheaper then polarcell and this is my third battery that is indeed greater then the min of 2220mAh.
I recently purchased a PolarCell off eBay from the EU. Lets hope it makes it.

PolarCell battery came in and in the phone. Based off 3 charging sessions it looks the battery health is 89%. Better than the 87% I had but it does seem to consume as a slower rate.
