Ok so i rooted my phone.. Followed a video tutorial. All good, installed magisk and after i wanted to update magisk to the latest version it said it cant update because of an error. Google chrome cant download anything , it says 'failed due to missing sd card'. I cant update any app or copy any files from pc to phone. Basically phone acts as i have no memory even though i do. I did factory reset too but has not changed anything. Probably i did a mistake in the unlocking bootloader and rooting process.
Because the phone was functional before that. What should i do? Thanks in advance.
Dont know the exact solution for this ome but if you are ok with wiping everything. Just flash stock rom again and then root your device.

It does not matter that I have to wipe . I just want to get rid of this issue . I can't do anything right now . Can you give me some tips or tutorial about how to flash stock rom again ?

There is a known issue seeing memory with root on 5t. You have to do the following to fix it:
From Play store get the app Terminal Emulator. In Terminal Emulator type:
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0

Im not the best when it comes to phones developing. So i guess i made another mistake. Right after i had that problems i formatted phone so now i dont have the magisk app anymore. So. When i type su in terminal emulator it says permission denied. Oh god, its the last time ever when ill do things on my own... some other variants? Thanks in advance.

Flash super su zip file via twrp. You'll get root access.

just go download the app and install, u don't need root to install the app
https://github.com/topjohnwu/MagiskManager/releases/download/v5.5.3/MagiskManager-v5.5.3.apk
I can't download any file. How should I do to copy/download either the app you linked , either the SuperSU zip ? Because right now I have none of those in my phone. So basically I cant download any app or file from browser , I cant copy any file via file transfer on laptop . I can only install some of the apps from the play store. Some work , other dont.
So I guess there is nothing to be done ? It doesn't matter the solution , I have no data to lose or things like that . It can be anything , just to fix the issue .
Get usb flash drive. Download the rom, magisk, TWRP on it. Connect it through otg.
Boot to TWRP and flash the rom.

My phone is a Huawei u8160 (AKA Vodafone 858) and I rooted it a long time ago with z4root and have had no problems eversince.... until recently when my mate got hold of my phone and accidently flashed an experimental/beta (possibly a binary for x86 systems) SU binary through CWM recovery. I thought I could fix this quite easily by using z4root to uninstall root and then do a fresh reinstall, but it would force close on me after a few seconds. I tried this method with both temporary and permanent root options but nothing worked. The button that pops up saying ''unroot'' wasn't there even though there is still a SU file in /system/xbin as it showed in Rom toolbox. I soon realised that the version of android i was running on my custom rom was not compatible with z4root, so i searched for how to root android version 2.3.9 pro. I dont know the name for that version and it must have been a bit of a flop because google didnt know it either. I dont know how akiro-E (the developer that cooked up the rom) got his hands on version 2.3.9 pro but i recommend to other devs reading this to not use it as there is not much compatibility.
Anyway, i found this apk made by chainsDD called gingerbreak and decided to give it a go. It said that it needed debugging on and that it might take a while, so i did that and pressed the root button. I left it to do its business, but 15 minutes later it was still trying to run the exploit so I stopped and removed it. When i got home later on i searched up how to root any phone and it came up with the pc program 'superoneclick'. I got it, opened it and clicked unroot. It did its thing but failed to remove su and the superuser app like it was meant to. So then i clicked on root and shell root but it did not reinstall properly and got the same error as in unroot error. I did all the steps multiple times but it still wouldnt remove/replace su from the xbin folder. I then reinstalled superuser 3.1.3 and tried using the binary updater on there. I noticed that the su installed was called 'legacy'. The updater was having a spaz and didnt want to update so i tried manually removing su with the root explorer in rom toolbox butvrealised that you needed root (a working one) to do that. Then i found an app on my sd called root cleaner. I tried quick and full cleaning but to no results except for a force close multiple times. I tried to fi the foce close issue by running the script for this in rom toolbox but you need root (surprise surprise) Then i tried flashing cwm recovery through fastboot as i have done lots of succesful times before. It flashed after putting my phone in download/debug mode (power and volume down) but i cant boot to it as you need proper root rights to do that.
I am going to use total commander to check if the permissions are set to 644 for the su binary, if not ill attempt to change them.
I know this a long desciption and technical question but does anyone know any ways to delete the retarded root from my phone and help me restore root as normal? This is a question for the more experienced users and devs on this forum but any help will be appreciated, cheers.
If you've got recovery, you can install one of these zips in recovery mode.
Google "superuser 3.1.3 arm signed zip" and click the first link that comes up - the androidsu one. Then download the superuser zip package that suits your device to your phones internal storage, reboot into recovery, install the zip and there you go! Your root is fixed.

@odigITECH thanks for the help. I fixed the problem using your method. . . kind of. I flashed recovery via fastboot and then just flashed another rom from my sd card via cwm after I rebooted. Thanks for the help anyway, much appreciated!

Due to concerns about the security of a previously shared program, I've pulled the link and info. Please use the following that was shared out from jcase (for some reason it won't let me mention).
If you need to root your stock ROM, please use the method that was posted by in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539930
Here's the quote about the information there:
jcase said:
Thanks to Saurik and Giantpune for contributing (ie its based on their research)
Install apk, run apk wait 1 minute, install supersu app from market then uninstall with this command
adb uninstall com.qualcomm.privinit
Click to collapse
Install the app that's attached (also from jcase's thread).
Run the apk, then wait a minute.
Go to the Play Store and download SuperSU.
Go into SuperSU and make sure you have root permissions. Test an app or two.
Remove the app from your phone when you get a chance.
Use the adb command "adb uninstall com.qualcomm.privinit" without the quotes.
You can use also remove it manually a few ways without adb.
--
You can also flash a ROM (even stock ROM) with TWRP and it will ask you if you want to root it. You can select to root with it and then you'll be fine without any need for installation yourself. When I used that method on my last install, I had to reboot my phone to get root to show up. It told me that I wasn't rooted on first boot. Just a simple reboot fixed the problem.

Windows ADB Driver:
If you haven't installed ADB drivers for your N1, you can find them here:
https://dc381.4shared.com/download/AVr-h5Lt/adb_driver_windows.zip
Download, extract the folder, and then point your drivers to the android_winusb.inf. Then you should be setup for ADB.
** I will update this as needed. Please let me know if I forgot/missed anything, or if you have anything to add. This requires very little knowledge of Android, and you don't even need the Android SDK installed.
-------------------------------------------------------
Updates/changes:
2013.12.10 - Removed link and information to a program. Updated information reflect other method.
2014.01.30 - Changed link to Windows ADB driver. Oppo took their link down yesterday.
Good stuff and can't wait to get mine soon

Feel free to use other methods if you don't trust this one. I wouldn't share it if it was unsafe.
Also, with a custom recovery you could just flash a different ROM or SuperSU directly.

it just seems like kingoroot too much, main suspicion
jcase posted an apk that provides root without needing a computer that is probably much safer than this. The stock recovery provides a rooted shell out of the box. It would be easy to use that to install SuperSU or something. You can also flash & boot TWRP then hit reboot system and let TWRP install SuperSU & root your device. No need for installing a somewhat suspect root application like this.

I agree, and it seems to much like kingoroot
I've updated the OP and pulled the information about the suspicious app. I personally think that it's fine, but if there is suspicion, I would rather be safe and remove it.
I've used the information the @jcase posted instead. The adb drivers are still there though. :good:

Make sure the SuperSU file is already on your phone.
Flash TWRP Recovery through Fastboot (vol up + power) with
Code:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_filename.img
after it flashes reboot
Code:
fastboot reboot
from there turn off your phone and boot into recovery (vol down + power)
Navigate to where you put the SuperSU.zip file and flash it. Once you do that. Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache before you reboot the phone into the OS.
After it loads up go to the SuperSU app. Locate the setting where it preserves CM root and uncheck that.
You should have root access now.
Oppown doesn't work on CM.

So how do i access files on my phone.. I am copying them with dropbox bit it is getting stale
I cannot gain root access for some strange reason. No, not a noob here, very familiar with rooting. Problem is... the Superuser won't flash. I got recovery installed... tried both CWM & TWRP. Either way when I try flashing SU app it doesn't work. I reboot phone and no app installed. In TWRP it actually has a little red word that says "Failed" after I try flashing SU.
Everywhere I look on the internet about rooting all say to flash an SU. So WTF? Why can't I do that?
Any other way to get root access? And then perhaps manually install SU from play store? Other ideas?
Need this damn phone rooted... driving me crazy.

Thanks for chiming in man. Actually definitely tried that several times. Anyways thought I would jump back on and post an update and see if it catches anyone's eye. Here's a summary: I'm still rootless; Everything I install in Odin works correctly; Anything I try to install via recovery (i.e. zips in CWM/TWRP) fails in one way or another.
To put it simply, the only way I can foresee my phone being successfully rooted is if I can do it via Odin. I have searched quite a bit online and have found no way to root the phone with Odin. Every method involves using a recovery. If someone could do me a favor and create a pre-rooted tar I could probably succeed. I will note in closing I was able to successfully update to UVMC6.... using Odin of course.... and it makes this phone more bareable, but not being rooted is still just killing me. First phone I've owned in 4 years I haven't been able to root.........
Anyone?
One more thing......
The more I think about this problem, seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with this device I'm trying to root. No idea what the problem is, but has to be major for both recoveries to install correctly but be unable to flash anything successfully.... too strange to be a minor problem or user error I surmise. That leads me to my next question:
Is this whole thread better suited elsewhere? Is there a sort of technical help forum area where I could get more help with diagnosing the problem? Hell, I even thought about posting a reply in the thread of a popular rom explaining how I'm unable to install it to see if anyone could help me out. I could care less at this point if I'm running stock or custom rom just need the damn phone rooted.
What do folks think about my question above? Does this thread make more sense somewhere else?
Thanks & Cheers,
Hi all. I have rooted my s4 mini using kingroot. I have installed adaway and xmod because they were my main reasons for rooting. But i'd like to go a bit deeper now and learn a bit more about rooting as im a novice. But before i can do that ive read that i should create a back up, am i right in thinking a nandroid and a back up are the same thing? Well anyway my problem is ive tried to create a back up using cwm rom recovery but my device is not supported. Ive also read something aboit phils cwm recovery 6 ( at least i think it was called that) but from my understanding i need access to a laptop or a pc to be able to take that route. I dont have access to a pc or laptop at the moment so im just here to ask if anybody can advise me on how i can create a back up for my device. My plan is to learn the ropes using this device as its an old device and when im more comfortable im going to root my galaxy alpha. Any help and answers will be appreciated, im not so great with tech and the lingo but im wanting to learn. Thanks
Unrooted
Well i have unrooted to be safe. My son plays with my phone and i dont feel safe without out a back up or nandroid. I would still like info so i can reroot n get adaway back and xmod for the unlimited lives on candy crush, and sandbox mode on clash of clans. If anybody has any info that could be of any use to me, even just a link to point me in the right direction it would be great.
Try installing TWRP for backups. i am also a beginner but i tried backing up the stock rom, flashing custome roms, And restoring the backups. Done this almost five times a week.
Here are files.

Forgot to mention that my stock rom is 4.2.2 Jelly bean. I had flashed cm12.1 rom before, which triggered my knox to 0x1.
Thanks il check those out now
Yes twrp is a good recovery...i am using it too and it can be installed without a pc
Davidich could you direct me to a link or explain how i can install it without using a pc. Do i need root to install it or can i create recovery then reroot? Is it as simple as finding file and installing it by checking unknown sources. Then opening up twrp app and applying recovery? Or do i need to go into download mode to apply it? Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks
Well ive rooted again and installed twrp because i needed root access to enter twrp. When i open twrp it asks me to install busy box, i accept the request but it doesnt download. What is busybox? Do i need it to back up? Ive just read something about mounting system using terminal emulator and then that should allow busybox to download. Am i going in the right direction?

Busy box can be downloaded directly from play store. As for installing a recovery without a computer well that's RISKY. There are apps that can help like Flashfire, Rashr and Flashify. These can flash various things without a custom recovery. BUT they are not guaranteed to work. My experience is with Flashfire by Chainfire. With this I was able to flash a stock ROM without a computer. But the app when I last looked was in beta stage. Also if something goes wrong you will need a computer to fix... If it hasn't bricked your phone. Sooo much safer thru Odin on a computer.

I bought my 5X in October and came here to root my phone and be able to use the ElementalX and the Advanced Interactive Governor tweaks.
Everything was working fine and my phone really performed outstandingly.
Then I saw the OTA 7.1.1. popping up. I didn't allow it until I installed it by mistake yesterday...
Now I'm stuck with google asking me to lock the bootloader.
I can access the bootloader. I get a lot of options.
I can access the recovery mode and it gets me to RecoveryProject 3.0.2-2 by Teamwin.
I already have the Android platform tools on my desktop and it's working.
From there I have 2 questions :
1. Is there a way to not wipe all the contents on my phone? I didn't get the chance to backup all the data on it.
2. After that how can I get my phone working with the latest android version as I was before, unrooted and running with EX Kernel Manager.
Thanks for your help.
1. try installing the supersu zip from the recovery
2.EX Kernel Manager cannot work without root. so you need to root your device
Thanks a lot for you answer!
1. So by installing SuperSu zip from the recovery I would be able to backup my phone data?
2. I meant rooted sorry. So my phone is already rooted and I'm fine with staying that way.

adb sideload from twrp
OK guys thanks. When I use adb sideload in twrp advanced menu it gets stuck on "Starting ADB sideload feature... "
And when I type ADB devices on the command prompt it does not show my device but if I'm just in the menu before sideload it does find my device and says the serial number + recovery.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for helping.
You should be able to transfer files while being in recovery using MTP mode.
How do I use MTP mode? Sorry what does that mean. Can't find an explanation on the internet.
I've looked at all the options in the menu but can't find such a option.
I really feel stupid.
Ok guys I transfered SuperSu to my phone using adb push.
I flashed my phone with SuperSu but when i reboot my phone, it still tells me I need to lock my bootloader.
What shall I do now?
I keep going to the Googl screen with the little locker and then I reach the No Command screen.
The phone won't boot into Android no more. Guys please help I'm desperate. Is my phone dead?
Ok so I guess my phone is now in bootloop.
Still anyone willing to help?
OK I tried many things in despair and now I cannot enter the recovery mode anymore. It just gets stuck on the teamwin screen.
Guess it's time to buy a new phone.
So miracle I could enter the recovery.
Now I don't know where to go. I would like to be able to enter normal android but my phone will keep on showing android screen with little lock and the end on the No command screen. Endlessly.
Ok. THread can be closed. I managed to flash a factory image. Lost all my data but I got a working phone so I guess it's not to bad.
