You have probably heard about a modification that makes your phone look like an old CRT TV when you turn it off. This is actually a builtin effect, but it is disabled by default.
There is a tutorial by tweezit that shows how easy it is to enable this effect - but it requires you to change framework-res.apk. There are different threads that offer those modified files, but to combine different modifications, there have to be many different files with all possible combinations.
To avoid this, I'm developing the Xposed framework, which allows such modifications without changing any APK (or JAR in this case). All you need to do is install the Xposed framework app (root required) and then the attached module for it - both with the normal APK installer as any other app.
Tested with Stock LPQ, but should work for most ICS ROMs (not sure about CM9 though).
This mod is no longer supported. Please use my Tweakbox instead.
Very good work. When we add this apk and the Xposed framework app, the effect is automaticaly enabled or we need to enable this by the app? Thanks.
There is a short installation guide with screenshots in the framework thread.
Yes, you need to click a button to actually install the framework (what you download is the installer) and click a checkbox to enable the module. But both should be easy and fast.
Sweet! I've been looking for the CRT effect for my stock rom. And you have made it surprinsingly easy to install it! Thank you!
I would love to see more of these modules. Thx for the sharing!

I may be wrong, but i think this is for Samsung ROM..
I thought CM9 might already have this as an option? Well anyway, this mod is deprecated. Try using my Tweakbox, which includes this mod in a cleaner version. If that also doesn't work for you, follow these questions (and please also let me know if other Xposed mods work for you).
Shame we cannot do this without root :-(
Im scared to root my phone...

Hello everyone
Does this crt off effect works properly? Because until now there is an annoying flickering of the screen.
Is this problem solved ?
This mod works as good or bad as other CRT mods do. The difference is that you can combine it with other Xposed mods.
The whole thing is just a switch that is enabled, the effect itself is already existing in the ROM. I see the flickering as well. This is reported to be a bug in a native library, so I cannot fix it.
Please also note that this version of the mod is no longer supported as I have integrated it into my Tweakbox.
Just installed the mod, works fine on my device - so simply unchecking it in the Xpose app then restarting will revert it back?
(I actually got the flickering after the effect with another mod with a cwm install but now its not present)
EDIT: Spoke too soon - the flickering came back after a few locks and unlocks... no ideas why, but it's too much of a distraction for me so I had to uninstall it.

Yes, unchecking
a mod disables it after a restart. Same thing for uninstalling the mod of course, but then it will be automatically enabled if you install it again.
I personally can live with fhe flickering from time to time, but that's up to every user to decide for themselves.

Updating Busybox should fix that. I think this needs to go into the FAQs, several people reported it already.
There is a fix available for the flickering issue in original android development thread

And it's working great for me and many others.
As you are already using Xposed, you could try a beta version that I just uploaded. It contains a setting apply the patch on-the-fly (that is in the memory), so you do not even need to replace any more files.
I had already modified the framework res file with the uotkitchen.
It was only the scrollbar which i made red but now its gone.is there any chance to have my uot mod enabled plus the crt effekt???
Thanks for your app anyway much easier to install the effect then over wm.

I've never really messed around with Xposed. Sorry if my question is dumb but, where do you get the modules? Are they within the app? Is this where you get the app?

Update Xposed from v71 to v72 for Verizon LG G4
Verizon LG G4 VS986 confirmed working with xposed-v72-sdk22-arm64.zip upgrade(Ram is better, battery drain is less)
1)Wipe cache on start
2)Start os
3)If Flashfire doesn't open, change date in the phone settings to earlier than 8.30.15
4)Follow instructions for v71 installation, but instead of v71.zip use uninstaller for xposed (xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm64).Do not uninstall previous version of Xposed which was installed from xposed-v71-sdk22-arm64-by-romracer-20150816 with regular phone means.
5)do not check auto-mount,touch upper right sign and the main page of Flashfire opens
6)Flash (at the very bottom of the screen) uninstaller (all necessary files should be placed on the root of Internal Storage) and wait 10 minutes +,Loading lines appear then another 10 minutes, the phone reboots itself.
7)repeat procedure with Flashfire with zip file xposed-v72-sdk22-arm64
8)Long story now, approximately half an hour of dark screen(do not touch the phone and patiently wait)
9)phone reboots itself, wait and don't worry it'll work with updated Xposed Framework v72,all modules, that have been there before the upgrade, will be there working and activated,no need to reset Xposed Installer_3.0_alpha4.apk
P.S. Make sure the phone has enough charge and not connected to the computer and I assume that you alredy installed this: xposed-v71-sdk22-arm64-by-romracer-20150816.If not, then follow all the instructions from Romracer for v71 file, but
1)use v72 instead
2)Flashfire will not work unless you change the date in the phone settings(you'll correct this easily later)
3)And you will have to wait longer this time(remember, approximately half an hour of dark screen with the impression that the phone is dead, but no worry, just wait and do nothing, cause that's the way it's resetting).Good luck!
It is now at V73. Just flashed on top of the current version and works fine.

Anyone have problems using flashfire to flash the 8/31 uninstaller to uninstall v74 XPosed?

I would like to use CoolTool to display clock and battery info (along with other stuff) but I want to disable the stock clock, battery and network stats on status bar so its not as cluttered. So far wanam doesnt work, xui hasn't worked and SB Icon Hider all don't work.
I'm also trying to figure out how to have cool tool put the status on the right instead of the left overlayed on notifications. Anyone have any idea's?
So, purpose for this thread is to notify the users which mods are conflicting and causing problems for HTC 10. I hereby will share my scenario and others please also share what u guys observe.
I am using ICE stable 1.1.3 Rom, s-off, xposed framework version 85.
So the problems I faced with conflicting mods are:
1. Sudden reboots.
2. After rebooting, no ringtone during calls.
Working mods are:
1. Android N-ify v0.2.0
2. Gravitybox v6.1.3
3. Greenify (donation) v2.8.1
4. Native clipboard v4.6.4
5. OGxposed v1.0
6. Play store changelog v1.2.2
7. Xinstaller v5.0
8. Xnotifications
9. Direct APK install
10. Youtube adblock
11. Youtube background playback
Conflicting mods for me:
1. Sense toolbox v2.2.4
2. Amplify v3.3.4
P.S. these mods were conflicting for me probably because I was using Gravitybox which I didn't want to remove. With any other combination or using them single, u may not face any problem. So if u guys find any variation in behavior or whatever may be, please post and I will update my list accordingly. Thanks.

you don't need to use systemless, but its the one I went for since it don't break OTA or Android pay cause it can be disabled in the new app

Sense Toolbox is probably conflicting with Gravitybox because they both make changes in the system. I am using Sense Toolbox for the Center Clock, to add Blinkfeed shortcut so I can run Nova Prime as my main launcher then tap that to switch to Sense. I am also running N-ify, Greenify, XNotifications, and Amplify. Oh, also APK direct install (so I don't have to toggle it in Settings/security) as well as YouTube ad block and YouTube Background Playback...no issues here at all. Everything is set up systemless. There was one module that made Sense Toolbox lose center clock so I disabled it...but I can't remember which it was. I know that it wasn't Gravitybox though...I hadn't gotten around to trying that one yet. My guess is that Gravitybox is messing with Sense Toolbox and Amplify for you but that's a guess

No problem....however, if Gravitybox has things like center clock, you can use other modules to block notifications and icons in the status bar. Sometimes if I add one thing too many, it goes back to default so it's more of a "mostly works" I wasn't able to use Gravitybox on my M9 (as far as I know) but yeah, it's best to experiment and get other people to comment like you are. Pretty soon I will be on ViperROM though...that's the sickest custom ROM I have ever used. You can leave it Sense based or "De-Sense" it and the amount of customization it has is unmatched. I have used it on 5 different HTC models and it's incredible!
For those who are going to stay stock rooted with Xposed, you have lots to choose from and my battery has been incredible so no bad side effects from using it
I have the Google Pixel XL rooted running Android Oreo with boot-loader unlocked. I used the modded TWRP with SU config and Chainfire's SU with SU Hide by the way to root. I know about theming and a few rooted apps like Greenify to name one. I do not want a custom ROM flashed. I guess is there and thing like Xposed or Gravity box I would be able to use. What are some neat and cool / helpful things to do while rooted on oreo with pixel xl at this point? Anyone got any ides what I should do? !hanks.

This belongs in Q&A for starters.
Right now for Oreo there is Substratum/Andromeda, and some flashable Aroma installer mods. A custom Kernel like ElementalX gives further customization performance wise as well as wake gestures, colour control, and brightness tweaks.

So far the only one that really works on the pixel XL is the Swift black , destiny doesn't work very well I haven't found any apps that work with Destiny all I use is Swift black and every so often there's one or two apps that won't work because of updates or or what not so I use Onyx too. Also what works with Swift black and helps,is if you only do 5 at a time and if still something doesn't come out right sometimes you have to reboot for it to take effect... Good luck

Lone4subs, domination, Sprite, focus, are just a few themes that work for me on Oreo. They are all paid themes though. I would recommend lone4subs but you have to enroll in the beta version for it to work with Oreo.
Screenshot
I also reccomend swift black for substratum. great dark theme. updated all of the time.
mods and things that I use;
- system ui tuner; change # of quick tiles, animation speed, etc
- Apex Launcher (very customizable n lite)
- AfWall (firewall to block apps from internet access)
- disable service (disable things like advertising ID, analytics, etc in google play services, some apps, etc)
- custom nagivation bar (change navbar layout n look)
- with magisk I use a few modules; GMs doze, busybox, etc)
- graby spin ui (icon set)
- signal messenger (instead of messenger)
- anysoftkeyboard
- fx file manager
- adaway for adblocking
- ex kernel manager
- exNoShades-eas kernel (which adds a bunch of features, optimizations, security/hardening, etc... i'm the dev)...
i pretty much replace or modify everything on the stock rom that i don't like, or needs improvements.
I agree with @roman.ramirez.12 ~ If you like dark themes, Swift Black is great. Constant updates, works well.
Some mods, appss and stuff that I can't do without;
- Apex Lanucher (Lite and customization).
- FX File Manager
- OS Monitor
- AFwall (Firewall for blocking apps internet access)
- Custom Navigation Bar (change navbar layout, functionality and style)
- System UI Tuner (tweak Quick settings tile #, change animation speeds to 0.75)
- AdAway (Block all advertising. Available in Fdroid app store)
- Magisk + a few modules (Pass Safetynet, Magisk hide. Modules: GMZ Doze, etc)
- EX Kernel Manager (for tuning custom kernel settings)
- exNoShadez-eas Kernel (My kernel / I'm the dev. Passes SafetyNet check. Most of the extra features other kernels have + additional
hardening/security features and some other features - too much/specific to get into here).
Using all of the above, I get a decent amount of customization to the Stock rom, plus all of the goodies one might want out of a kernel (and then some. lol)... I use most of these apps on any device (have for years, in some cases) and the kernel I develop exclusively for the Pixel / Pixel XL.
Any1 of you got a V4A or Dolby MOD (magisknor non magisk) working with the MI 9 SE?
Tried several V4A mods but none of em works(installing drivers fails every time)..
Also tried dolby pie which instantly crashes when opening the dolby app..
fyi - got both v4a and dolby working. needed to switch kernel to permissive for installation.
working like a charm. dolby pie is superior.
