Hello,
I'm thinking about rooting my 5T.
Had before a Xperia Z5 with CarbonRom and Magisk installed.
I really miss Viper4Android and Simply Adblock module.
So is it worth rooting it for this modules? What are the downsides? Do I loose some features like on my Z5 where I lost Camera quality when I rooted it?
Also can I pass Safetynet?
thanks guys
Absolutely. After experiencing V4A there is just no way I would buy a device that could not be rooted. As long as you use Magisk you can still pass safetynet and there are a few V4A modules as well.

Yeah, i liked to use V4A and Dolby Atmos on my Z5, but since I had a really **** camera quality on my Z5 after bootloader unlock I would like to know if same or similar happens on the 5T when I unlock the bootloader.
Do I need to backup DRM Key's or something?
thanks

Recently purchased one and bar the sound issue I am pretty much happy with it
The problem with the sound is that it is so low! I used to have an Xperia which had decent sound - on this you need to put it to the maximum settings for it to be anything like reasonable (and that still is not great)
I was beginning to think I had a dodgy hand set, but a friend purchased one too and that is exactly the same. Or is it just unlucky to have two that are broke?
I downloaded Volume Booster GOODEV, which helps a little when playing videos / output and I have also messed about with the Dolby and graphic equalizer settings
Just surprised that no reviews mentioned this issue - which made me suspect I had a broken device until I also heard my friends.
Any recommendations / any work-rounds / fixes?
Many thanks'
If you have root you can try editing mixer_paths.xml and see if that helps. If the phone has Dolby then make sure to turn off Volume Leveling.

Any idea which values to edit? I have a G6, which I assume will have the same values. I have previously edited the mixer_paths.xml on my Moto E4, but the G6 does not have the same values.
I had the same issue on my moto G6, I rooted the device and installed magisk. Then installed the Ainur Sauron module. It works so good you won't even believe it. There's no UI just install reboot and profit.

Not required. It only needs to be disabled. I'm pretty sure that you can remove it entirely though.

Sound is so much better over stock. Wow
What do people who have tried both think of this compared to V4A?

I only tried v4a for a few min. I was too overwhelmed by the amount of settings.
So far Dolby makes my Bluetooth louder and quality is better. I'm happy

I think this is better in my opinion!!! Just try it by itself and then try V4a and let us know!!
I tried the module seems nice I had to remove Viper will check further ..... Anyone has some custom settings to try out ???
Is there a way to turn the volume boost off for notifications but keep it on for music in Bluetooth?
I don't need the lock sounds increased
Ballsy for trying this. Greatful for confirming. Thanks. It works awesome.
Man this thing is LOUD. Good stuff!
It works but for me too loud. Hasn't really added much more quality just made every volume crazy loud
Im sure everybody already knows this but if you want to keep Viper make sure to install the Audio Mod Library it allowed me to keep my Viper setup after install and both are working great!
Holy moly! It is really working! Definetly better than stock!
Wish this was nonroot just for this mod

Thanks a lot for the good work but there is an issue in regulating the volume as in other Dolby. While I have the volume in the alerts low It strikes loud when notification comes
V4.0 wont open on oneplus 6t and v2.5 breaks safetynet
I know that quite a few people here already went through the process of unlocking the bootloader and rooting. However I don't see anyone commenting on the downsides like DRM loss, camera and display quality and if there is any way we can backup the DRM before unlocking the bootloader. I'd like to see what you guys think and potentially share some recommendations on the matter.

I think it should be. I doubt Sony would leave any of its devices unprotected.
im unlocked on a GSI/Treble build, AOSP without gapps. i see NO difference in picture quality. just saying...this to the fear in losing "camera quality"
and no, gcam mods will not work, not with gapps, not without!

I've been wondering this too. I've tried three different ones from searching, and all I've tried simply don't work on the 6 Pro.
Yes, JamesDSP works. You can find the thread here with the download. You need to install AML 4.0 then JamesDSP 4.2 in Magisk Manager than reboot and you'll have working Dolby.

How's the quality for you?
I read about how HD needs to be disabled in developer options to get JamesDSP to function, wouldn't that kinda render the entire reason why you would go for a custom sound module in the first place, well, void?

It's slightly louder at +3db than stock at (anything higher and the speakers just get muddy) and you can set the stereo width, equalizer and a bunch of other things but I haven't messed with it with my Pixel buds yet.

Dolby Digital Plus for 9.0-12.0 OS Need selinux permissive Hi. I present the mod Dolby Digital Plus (interface and functionality is the same as that of Dolby Atmos). Theoretically should work on OS 6.0-9.0. I checked only on Oreo and Pie...

Why did you unlock your bootloader? I did unlock bootloader and install custom ROM for every Android device that I have ever owned. However, surprisingly I am fairly satisfied with newest MIUI on Poco F3 and I am considering to keep it. Currently, the only thing I am missing is a firewall. I am also worried that custom ROMs often have bugs + there might be problems with banking apps.
I unlocked the bootloader in order to root the device with Magisk and mainly install AdAway ad blocker (and also YouTube Vanced), while keeping official MIUI. Same as you, I don't have any problems with the official MIUI, once all the ads are removed.

I have vanced installed with non-root method. Also I have not used Adaway in years because only few apps that I use have ads + it makes some websites to not work.

For Pixel Rom. MIUI is so cringe, I was very sad that I must use it for a one week. It's just terrible.

You're new to Miui. Give it some time and you'll get tired of it too.

Well I personally unlocked my bootloader to use the Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM. It's MIUI but the latest version with all Xiaomi apps, not the circumsized Global version lol.
I was most interested in the Call Recording Feature in the Xiaomi Phone App. And Android 12. I believe I have more reasons but can't think of them... I really like Call Recording. Idk. I'm a stalker i think.

How is Viper4android better than Wavelet? I have had less problems with Wavelet. It does not need unlocking bootloader also.

Tried Wavelet long ago. Cant comment.
Viper4a is not just an equalizer, its way much more. I personally like bass dynamic settings and possibility to choose bass frequenvys manually.

MIUI Dolby Atmos is superior.
Wavelet sucks too.
I'm not a fanboy of chinese social credits but its just the truth.
Viper4a doesn't impress me quite as much as MIUI Dolby does.
