I happen to leave the tablet on standby, after a while 'when I go to turn it back on, the screen does not light up, but the tablet is turned on (if I connect it to the PC open the folders). What's going on? I use Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 English

I gave the Galaxy Nexus to my father. Everytime he takes it out of the leatherbag he accidentally touches the volume keys.
Is there a way to deactivate the volume keys, so the ringer cannot be changed, but the volume when phoning can be changed?
If you have root privileges just edit /system/usr/keylayout/tuna-gpio-keypad.kl.
key 114 UNKNOWN
key 115 UNKNOWN
Backup the file before.

Installing gravitybox via exposed add-on will give you full control over the volume buttons + more.
Eg.
Set it to only change media volume by default.
Remove annoying beeping sound when pressing volume buttons.
Expanded on screen volume controls for ringer/media/notification/alarm/in-call.

You might be able to help me sir.
Is there a way to map these hardware keys to preform different actions? If possible I'd like the power button to go to the home screen.

Yep. Just check Generic.kl (same folder) for a full list of commands. In your case:
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 116 HOME
PS I have edited my previous message.

Setting key 116 to HOME didn't work. After a reboot my power button just didn't do anything. Even long holding didn't make the power off screen open. I reverted and it works fine again.

Here is working. Make sure you have deleted WAKE. The string it's just:
key 116 HOME
EDIT: Try this http://d-h.st/xFp

Hey guys is there a way to create a shortcut or maybe tweak the Wear Mini Launcher to have a shortcut for Airplane Mode and another to turn off the watch.....sucks having to go to settings and scrolling down each time you ride the subway or go to sleep (phone turns off via Tasker). Thanks !!!
I agree with you: nobody can help to find the way?

Have you tried using Theatre Mode, it does almost the same thing as Airplane mode. I use when I sleep and it has minimal battery drain.

Hello, yesterday I got my LG G6 and it is... Wow! But I hate the missing of the notification led and I don't really understand the always on on a IPS screen. So, is it possible to activate it only if there are notifications?
Inviato dal mio LG-H870 utilizzando Tapatalk
I agree. The 2 biggest issues I have with this phone is no Led notifications and no IR blaster.
As far as the always on display, it's either on or off. But it uses the proximity sensor so when it's in your pocket or laying screen down the always on display turns off.

There is a thread that explains doing exactly that, using Tasker.

Oh I really want to read that thread, any suggestions how to search for it?
First I tried searching for "tasker always" but got no results, then just tried "tasker" and still got no results - does this site's search function even work?
Wait, I tried searching on google, is this the thread?

That's the correct one indeed. As you can see I wrote how I've done the exact thing you wanted
I read the thread but I've not really understood how to do [emoji28] can someone explain in a easier way please?

I'm not a tasker addicted, but I tried this and isn't working. What is wrong?
You can test your setup apart, the profile that is enabling the AOD, just send your self an email to trigger the profile.
You should also test the AOD ON/OFF task. If both work then you should put them together

Yes, it is possible with Tasker
Will post a detailed "how to" here tomorrow (hopefully I do have enough time tomorrow).

Thank you very much! Did you see what I tried with Tasker? I think it should work, but nothing happens
I have deleted the text and added a link to the thread
Use AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD) as substitue for missing notification LED using Tasker
martmarq said:
OK, instead of writing long explanations, I have attached the files "AOD_ON.tsk.xml" and "AOD_OFF.tsk.xml"
These are the Tasker task which turns the AlwaysOnDisplay on and off.
How to import these XML as Tasker task: Read this XDA thread
Now you have to add at least 2 new profiles in Tasker
Profile 1 - Notification
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT - UI - NOTIFICATION ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp
Related task : AOD_ON
You might do the same with other apps. If you leave the owner application empty it works with EVERY notification.
Profile 2 - Notification removed
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT- UI - NOTIFICATION REMOVED ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp
Related task : AOD_OFF
You might do the same with other apps. If you leave the owner application empty it works with EVERY notification.
It works for me on LG G& (H870)
Have fun

Sorry, I don't have a clue why it not works for you.
Which model of the LG G6 do you have?

I don't see a mistake so far....
Can you please check if you have activated Tasker as a service in your mobile phone?
(on your phone : settings - Accessibility - services / Tasker on)

If you start the task AOD_ON manually (go into Tasker/Tasks/ tap on AOD_ON and press the play button on the left hand corner), do you have the Always On Display on?
We need to check if the Profile or the Task does not work....

So the problem is the Task, it seems....
Can you post pictures of one of those tasks?
