How hard would it be to port roms between the two? If it is not to hard how would you go about doing this?
No one? They have extremely similar hardware, wouldn't it be similar to the onplue 3/3t unified roms?
From everything I have read there are to many differences between the two. So more then likely you won't see any ports but I could be wrong.
Just throwing this out there, but recently seen a Lineage build being said to boot on our 5T, by editing the buildprop accordingly.
This may be different of course, given that's Lineage and not OOS, though of relevance I hope...

Some of the kernels and some ROMs are unified now (to a degree). This doesn't affect us much anyway.

1.I am in searching of a new phone, and i stopped here on the oneplus 3 forum. I saw there are more models (a3000, a3003 dont really know more) around , so i dont know which one to buy?
And i just want to know if i can flash anycustom rom i want on any model of the Oneplus3.
2.Is worth the extra $ for oneplus 3t?
3.Which one has better rom development on xda ONEPLUS 3 or 3T ?
A3000 is American/Chinese, A3003 is EU/worldwide.
All ROMs can be flashed on all model numbers.

2. That comes down to personal choice. I'd say the original 3 has slightly better price/performance - 3T is indeed better on paper, but those differences are almost negligible in real life. That said, I may be a bit biased towards the 3 [emoji14]
Worth mentioning that 3 is not being produced any more so it may be hard to get now.
3. At the moment the OnePlus 3 has better dev support. But 3T is catching up. And in future they will probably have the same support - literally the same ROMs. We already know that kernels can be made to work on both models and AFAIK OnePlus is working on a unified ROM for both devices (which means that custom ROMs should also be able to work on both).

I'm way too lazy to look into it ... better ask some developer [emoji1]
I guess it detects the chipset and selects the profile accordingly.
Probably not possible to do with completely different chipsets, but 820 and 821 are practically the same, just have different clocks (and probably voltages).
Check out blu_spark kernel by eng.stk in 3T development thread. That one works on Marshmallow ROMs on both devices.

Here u go
It's simple.
If you want big development you choose 3. For 3t development it's small. I don't think many users/developers will get rid of 3 to buy 3t.
Update: we already have unified ROMs also (for example Resurrection Remix 5.8.0). So that proves that in the future both devices will share development.

Check last few comments ... With unified ROMs and kernels the development is essentially the same.

Is it possible to create a cross Dev forum section for the opportunity 5 and 5t like how the 3 and 3t has?
Its is possible, but are there roms or kernels etc that are compatible with both phones?
I believe he meant for themes, apps and mods, not roms and kernels.
Like this forum for OP 3 and 3T:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/oneplus-3--3t-cross-device-themes-apps--mods
The 5 and 5t has different screen sizes. Are mods compatible?
Actually I meant roms and kernels..alot of them have unified builds for the 5 and 5t-francokernel,bluspark,flash etc

Hi.
A friend told me that lineage based ROMs are not best for AOSP devices. I personally have never thought it a problem. What are your thoughts? Is there much difference? I don't mean features, I mean in the code.

What does this even mean as los is based on aosp and what are aosp devices? Nexus and pixel you mean? Aren't all Android ROMs even from hardware manufacturers different from Google also using aosp as base? What else should they even use?

Well with Nexus and Pixel devices we have official AOSP sources that are supplied by Google for our devices. Look what happens when you compile (!).
LOS is a godsend for other devices but it has unnecessary HALs for our phone.
I am a long time OnePlus user, having owned 4 of their models. I was contemplating upgrading to the 7T and was surprised to see there is not as much development for this phone as I would have expected at this point. Is the main reason for this is no TWRP support? What is holding up the TWRP development?
Thanks, in advance.

From what I have seen lack of twrp is the main reason.besodes that I think a good bit of developers have the pro
From what I've read the main twrp dev is on hiatus, due to this and his personal life twrp development is very slow for A10 at the moment, and until that is figured out a proper twrp wont work. Though I've read once a rom is flashed, twrp works? I'm not nearly 10% on that tho. That would require more research than I'm willing to put in atm.

This is something that makes hold on the purchase of the device. I don't know if it is better to just get a 7 Pro out of eBay.

The main issue is with the lack of proper TWRP for 7T and that too because of the partitioning (and related stuffs) system of Android 10. I was too excited when I heard that 7T would be the first device that comes with Android 10 out of the box, but that excitement came to end after a few weeks
Half a year later and still no development for the 7T. It looks like we won't be getting it either? Even the OnePlus 8 Pro has more ROMs and kernels available.

I guess you will need to buy a OnePlus 8 pro than.
Will this issue be fixed after Android 11 ota update?
I've been hearing rumours that Android 11 is gonna fix the partition issues, am I dumb for being hopeful? *crying inside*

He probably mean that android 11 is going to fix keystore implementation in OOS (TWRP decryption issue)
Anyone can build pixel experience for op7t? I miss stock android feeling. I tried couple of ROMs. Aosip is the smoothest by far. Very high frame rate overall. Pixel experience in my opinion is best in term of polish stock feeling. Please devs help this project
hmm so looking at what custom ROMs the Pixel 5a and 5 got..it looks like we wont get many at all. 5a just got Linage and 5 got Lineage, Proton and Scorpion.
if 6 series follows this pattern then for custom ROMs something like OnePlus 9 would been better!

Proton is not about customisation so always used ROMs like ASOIP or Havoc which have extra features etc
I think Google has not done well with developer phones since Pixel 4. Pixel 2 was great but then from 3 people started to not develop for it or buy them.
There is a thread that someone is working on an AOSP build (I believe I saw it in the P6 forum), and GrapheneOS is working on a ROM for the P6/P6P as well. I would expect Calyx and Lineage as well to come out at some point, so time will tell what ROM choices we end up with. Hopefully more than just 3 or 4, but any are better than none!

And Graphene, and AOSP.
GrapheneOS have just released their experimental build for the P6/P.
GrapheneOS (@GrapheneOS)
New experimental release of GrapheneOS for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 is now available. SoC firmware images were previously only being included in the factory images and not the over-the-air updates. Some people ran into this despite there not being updates to ship yet due to slots.
