Which version is - 02?

I'm unsure how the -02 version ( Verizon version) could have an unlocked bootloader because Verizon keeps it locked down. In other Verizon moto phones, it takes Dev software like sunshine to make this happen and doubt they have provided this (and likely won't).
Please show proof via screenshot, would like to see how you got bootloader unlocked.

Put your phone in bootloader mode by powering off, then holding the power button and volume down button at the same time. It should show a black screen with a robot with red ! above (dead Andy). About 3rd line from bottom, it will say locked or unlocked. Let me know what that says or take a pic of the screen with another device and post it.

The previous owner tells me that it's unlocked but how can I be sure of that? Is there any chance of the phone being locked? (In spanish it's something like negative bandwith ) Thanks.

When you start your phone, at the Google logo, you'll see the unlock state.
If there's an unlocked lock icon at the bottom of the screen, it's unlocked. Otherwise, it isn't.
You didn't specify SIM or bootloader unlocked..
If bootloader, it wont matter if it is or not, since it's super easy to unlock.
I'm just wondering if someone who knows their bootloader is locked (presumably all of you in this part of the forum) could post a clear picture or just the full text from their download mode. I am just interested to see if there are any differences between it and mine, and specifically if any of those potential differences are the signs of a locked bootloader. In all of the searching I have done, I have not been able to find a way of determining the bootloader status.
Thanks in advance.
Mine in download mode says secure boot enabled which I think means locked bootloader, while unlocked would say secure boot disabled.
Thanks for the reply. I thought that was the case until I came across a video on YouTube where the guy goes into download mode to root his Note 4, and it shows the same thing, secureboot enabled, but he is able to root it without any problems. But i figure there must be something that tells you the bootloader status. So any chance you could post your whole download mode text?
Well I found this thread where someone has already posted their download mode screen, and it's exactly the same as mine apart from the model number. So no clues there.
Any other suggestions/things you've noticed on your phones that may suggest the bootloader is locked?
I've been searching too. Have seen plenty of sites explaining root process with download screens displaying secure boot enabled. So bootloader status must be somewhere else. A secret keypad code that doesn't require root already might help. Otherwise it might be a matter if getting an answer from Telstra themselves.
Regards

I did think of dial codes, but I couldn't find many that worked on this phone, and those that did didn't show any information related to the bootloader.
I contacted Telstra this afternoon, but they said that I had to ask Samsung. So I sent an email to Samsung, and I'll let you know if/when I get a reply.
Secureboot Enabled indicated the locked boot loader. You do not need to unlock the bootloader to root. The Note 3 has root with a locked bl.

Have you got a weblink that confirms 'secureboot enabled' = locked bootloader please?
You're the first poster I have seen that says the root process doesn't require an unlocked bootloader. What are you basing that on please?
regards
S4 also had a locked bootloader with root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A
What about the S5?
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 4!

Personal experience, on both counts. Secureboot Enabled has meant a locked bootloader for years across several devices. I have also rooted an S4 Active, S5, S5 Active and Note 3 all with locked bootloaders.
I don't have links, and I'm not going to do your research for you. The information is there if you search for it.

Please stop posting misleading information. The Note 4 is not an S4 Active, S5, S5 Active or a Note 3. We have done our research, and it contradicts what you are saying. You don't have to go very far - everyone on the forum is saying that the Note 4 cannot be rooted with a locked bootloader (at least so far). I don't even know how you found my thread without seeing all the others that say the Note 4 with locked bootloader can't be rooted. And if that is the case, then Secureboot: Enabled does not mean that the bootloader is locked, because we are seeing people root Note 4s that say that.
I can't believe this! Here is a video of a rootable (international version) Note 4 showing how to get into download mode:
http://youtu.be/p-zvwUS6as4
Which shows at timestamp 1:11 a secureboot enabled.

Sorry, not sure what you're trying to show/prove with that video. I did learn how to get out of download mode without pulling the battery though...

My intention of showing this video is not "how" to get into download mode, but it is to show the device that has "secureboot enabled" which is an international version that can obtain root.
Yes, yes, yes, the video does show how to get into download mode, however for the sake of the conversation, I wanted to show what the screen reads at timestamp 1:11

Oh, yes I see. Being an international version, it wouldn't have a locked bootloader, but it still shows that message in download mode about secureboot enabled. Thanks for posting.
Can't find much info on this, but last I had checked around the time the phone first came out it was locked, is this still the case? But obviously it looks like root has been obtained...

The unlock company who I went through apparently changed the Model number to a Moto G4, but the unlock seems to have stuck, but the model number is different. At this point, I've gotten ATT to give me an official sim unlock code. So I'm really not sure what to do.

Write me PM, I know the solution to unlock even hard locked device.
Hello,
I'm starting to think that my problem is that the bootloader is not unlocked.
So when I go in developer options and check the bootloader unlock and it the button moves and turns blue, is that an indication that I can unlock it?
I've tried doing this: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
but it keeps telling me that I'm not eligible to unlock the boot loader or something to that effect.
Any advice? not sure how to proceed. If I'm stuck with a crippled phone or if there is a way around this.
Thanks

I've got some info in
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/guide-locking-motorola-bootloader-t4079111
Is it a Verizon, AT&T, Tracfone, or Amazon software channel device?

Thank you.
This is a Total Wireless model running on the Verizon network.
I'll review your thread and hopefully it helps.
Back in the samsung days, I used odin to flash the stock ROM back to the phone in case things went really bad. Is there an equivalent process for moto?
Cheers

There are a few options for flashing.
Nothing quite like Odin though.

And

Look at the Alt unlock method, it gives a little more info then just "cannot be unlocked".
But I suspect that it cannot be unlocked none the less.

Thanks sd_shadow,
You are correct, it is not unlockable.
Oh well, I really like this phone, reminds me of the old nexus S, light, black and plastic, no fancy design goofiness.
So naturally, my next question is how do I go about finding a phone that can be unlocked and rooted for Total Wireless? do I get an unlocked verizon phone or are there other constraints I need to search for. I do understand that it needs a clean IMEI and TW has a web page to run the IMEI verification on.
Thanks again.
