Has anyone seen the phone flicker currently running it on 120 refresh but during play back of some videos within YouTube or Netflix app the picture breaks up and goes patchy/blocks its maybe once or twice a week. I'm not sure where the problem is as I have ran the Razer phone along side and iPhone 6s plus on the same video / quality and don't get the problem on the iPhone. Razer said it could be buffering but couldn't replicate the issue I was having even with time markings on certain videos.
Just looking to the end users of the phone to see if this is just me or my home network /signal issues or a general concern with the phone
Razer phone screen issues
Yes I've had this issue after the most recent update. I only see it on YouTube and some other videos atm.
Yeah same, here. My only gripe with the phone currently. Happened on 90hz with me.
I'm sure its easily fixed, however I am considering getting the 5T back out the box.
Getting a few fo flickers as well. Running at 120hz. Happens in random apps. Not just one specific
Razer phone screen issues
I'm still sticking with it because of the speakers for now lol but as time goes on better phones are coming out for cheap. I'll be contacting razer after Christmas about this issues and hopefully they will get the ball rolling on a fix.
Everyone who commented, please also say whether this is happening since the MR2 update (newest) for you or whether it was happening before that as well.
Thanks!
It's still happening. I'll randomly get blotchey blocks when watching videos and also the screen flickers like mad on greyish to dark grey backrounds like when in discord. Also it will do a flicker of the background wallpaper when I exit a browser or app. On latest software for me it actually made things worse. It introduced this flicker constantly.
The video getting garbeled was day 1, but the flicker after this update is unacceptable. It needs to be fixed it's highly annoying.
I just started to notice the screen flickering on grey and darker background colors a few days ago as well and I'm not sure what caused it. I'm assuming it must have been the latest update but I've also noticed the flickering seems to become more pronounced when you are actually touching the screen vs when it's just idle.
Just updated this morning, and I had no issues before, but now the screen is flickering pretty badly, especially on white backgrounds like the settings menu.
Hey so I've been messing around with the phone and it seems like the flickering may have to do with the variable refresh rate of the display. I turned on the on screen frame counter in the developer options then opened up an app like discord and the screen flickers everytime the frame counter refreshes. The frame counter seems to refresh every second or so when the phone is idle and I'm not touching it.
When I'm constantly scrolling through something there is no flickering because the refresh rate is at a steady 120 Hz but as soon as I stop and the refresh rate changes the flickering begins again and once again keeps going as the frame counter keeps refreshing.
Now another thing I noticed is if I scroll slowly through discord the flickering intensifies and I assume this is because the screen keeps changing the refresh rate at faster pace because the framerate keeps going up and down.
Hopefully this made some sense. I'm not sure if it's an issue that can be fixed through a software update or if that's just how the hardware is but hopefully it's an issue that can be resolved soon.
Also I've noticed another issue.
1. There is a constant flashing that's like going on super fast.
2. Random big flashes of light that that just come out of nowhere.
This new update has screwed things up real good. Battery life maybe worse as well.
So is this a confirmed bug in the latest firmware only?
I'm on build .853 without these such quirks.
It's been an on going issue and one that's making me feel it's not fit for purpose so going to talk to three as I may get it swapped out. If software can't fix it and it happens often daily for me then it's no good. Razer kinda said they don't know what I'm on about so would be nice for more people to submit a support ticket with them.
Ok so can people confirm whether or not this is related to the last update. I dont have this on my build .853 on THREE UK. I was waiting for the last update to fix the reduced volume and camera but this screen flickering thing is going to be very annoying if thats the case.

Pretty sure the new update is causing it. Never had this issue before the update. Now happens pretty often
Here's another kicker. Now instead of the screen getting blocky it just locks up then the phone turns off. I have to turn it back on again. This is beyond stupid this update has totally screwed up my device.
Come 2018 Razer is going to get a call and complaints.
The flickering is directly related to the dynamic refresh rate. Just chain scroll up and down a page that flickers it will stop cause the refresh rate will be locked.
If this seriously is down to the latest update this is fkd.
Has anyone tried a factory reset after the update to see if the bugs enlisted here persist?
It's worth a try at the least, to totally distinguish are these bugs directly from the latest firmware or clash of remnants from old firmware and the new installed firmware.
I'd try but I'm still on .853 Three.
This is starting to get annoying now. Razer literally flopped with the software side of things. One minute people are waiting for a fix for the current issues, next minute there is a new update which brings even more problems. Most people got this phone because of the screen and speakers but theres nothing but problems. Out of the box update reduced the volume of the speakers and still waiting for a fix from launch day 17/11. Camera is just a total mess, my galaxy note 4/5 camera was much better and that was like 2-3 years ago. Nfc is also a mess. And now people have been complaining about the screen flickering and phone restarting issues. I hope its just a matter of having to factory reset after the latest update and hopefully that will solve the issues. One other question I never got a proper answer for.. even Razer technical team have not managed to answer me on this. Why is this phone only charging at 1900mAH max throughout the whole charge period hence having Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ technology? Am I missing a point here or do I have a defective unit. I replacement charger was sent to me and no difference.

Software and hardware side both failed out of the gate I really should have known better which is why when I get my RMA there's a high chance I'll be selling the phone. Don't get me wrong I'm sure the software side will get much better I have full faith in the Devs such as lex but hardware QA I can't :/
Wish we could downgrade back to the old firmware. This update suckssssssssss
EDIT: Correct me if I'm wrong, but ever since I turned off auto brightness the screen flicking is not as bad. Someone else try and let me know. Or it could just be positive thinking and I'm crazy.

I have noticed that my screen is flickering ever so slightly in all applications. it is bearable but slightly annoying. Could this be hardware related and will I have grounds for a warrenty replacement? should I wait and see if any OTAs resolve it?
Everything is stock. Brightness is set to auto.
I have problems with shadowgun crashing when there is an explosion etc. possibly related?

Yeah, i noticed this too on my One X I've mostly seen it while my mobile data connection was on, and it seems to decrease a lot but not completely disappear when it's off. I also got a weird message yesterday while charging, saying something along the lines of "your phone is using too much current, -" (the message was in dutch, not sure what the exact message is in english) my phone turned off before I could completely read it. I wonder if those issues are somehow related. Maybe the screens backlight isn't getting enough power when the radio is on. Anyways, I'm not an expert, so don't quote me on that.
I also heard the tegra 3 drivers are buggy, so shadowgun crashing and performance drops etc. will hopefully be resolved in future updates.
I've got it as well I think it's a driver issue the last thing I want to do is go for a replacement and that to have more dud stuff as this is the only dud thing on mine. Everything else is fine apart from flickers now and then.

@backstabz0r for screen flickering pls refer to my earlier ans and for your problem which you got warning message thats common warning you get when you have put phone in charge and if you using it for gaming which consumpts more nergy then, message will be" battery consumption is more then the supply"
so suggest ou to let battery get charged till 30 % and then use it for gaming or any other apps
I've read a few threads here regarding the flicker and it seems some people are confusing flicker with something that I really don't know what to call.
Flicker for me is when there's a stroboscope-ish effect, like when you place your sight just above an old CRT monitor, or when a fluorescent light is on it's last breath. Not when what you see on the screen makes random movements a few pixels in any direction.
I have flicker on my HOX. But it's only noticeable on lower brightness levels. This happens in all applications and in settings menu, everything with white or light grey background, so not related to badly written apps. But I wonder if this really CAN be software related? Has this happened with other models from various manufacturers?

I've got what your describing quite a few users have. I believe it could be down to the drivers for the Soc. Might just need a driver update. Only the next update we can tell if this fixes the issue or not. We need to pressure HTC regarding this issue.

But is it really possible that a driver issue can cause flicker? I've never seen it before.
I tweeted @htcdev earlier today about it but no response yet. I wonder what the best way to make htc aware of this is. Contacting their lousy customer support feels pointless, it won't reach the people who actually can make an impact.

Right guys untick animations in Developer options, restart give it a while, go into camera you'll notice glitches, play a YouTube video you'll notice green bar on the left hand side of the screen in full screen mode. Untick animations and this disappears. It's worrying not sure what to do now.
Edit: can't repeat this but will keep trying as something did trigger it off for the screen to go like that.
Yeah, with flicker I didn't mean anything like having low fps when scrolling through stuff. I meant a quite noticable fluctuation in the brightness of the backlight if that makes sense. It is indeed quite like a CRT monitor with a low refresh rate. I haven't seen it yet when my screen brightness was high, but I'm not sure if it doesn't occur on higher brightness settings. It is also not constantly flickering, It only seems to act up when my mobile data connection is active, although I have seen a very slight flickering with data turned off. I really hope this isn't a hardware issue, the rest of my phone is pretty much perfect and I'd rather not send it in for a replacement after all the trouble I had with my sensation :/
I have the flicker issue, the screen flickers near the center a little bit to the right though, and it is reall irratating, but i can only see it when viewing pictures and on greys.
I hope it isn't hardware!!
tried all the ideas given to stop it but none work for me, still seems to flicker
Me too
I have the screen flickering too.
Im reluctant to return it as apart from this the handset is solid.
It on appears on certain colours making me think its software related.
I also have the exact same flicking issue. From what I have heard it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue. Just to be on the safeside though I am returning my One X to Phones4U for a replacement. Will be interesting to see if the replacement has the same issue.
I made a thorough check yesterday. I downloaded a brightness control app where you can write what brightness level you want so i tried from 3% which was the lowest possible step by step up to 15%. At 15 the flicker stops so its not 30 as I said before. this is my only issue too so I dont dare to replace it just to get a worse phone. My sister is getting one next week so gonna compare them.

I noticed this too, but i believe its a software issue only. When I unlock the phone, the screen flickers while sense runs and the three menu button appears then goes. Once its all settled its fine. I believe this is to do with sense rather than a phone issue, and will be addressed via OTA.

Not so sure about it being a specific Sense issue as I have noticed the screen flicking in 3rd party apps such as Spotify.

I phoned dialaphone there, i made them aware of the problem with my phone, told them if it wasnt fixed with the update then I would like to replace my phone, told me I had until next tuesday to see if its fixed, until I reminded her about distance selling regulations which gives me 28 days from receiving the handset.

I am thinking about buying a new G3, Is there any chronical issues-problems of LG G3?
Like dust in screen or speaker blow or any hardware malfunction
Don't be completly discouraged when reading this, as this is just my list of CONs for this phone.
Here's some of the issues i've had on my G3 from the very minute my phone left the box:
1. The phone has a locked bootloader, So don't expect any custom roms or kernels anytime soon.
2. This phone gets very hot for almost no explainable reason all the time doing small tasks like browsing the web.
3. WiFi (and maby LTE??) are REALLY slow in comparison to every other phone i've owned in recent years (sometimes web pages even freeze while loading).
4. The stock web browser kills my battery in about 2-3 hours from a full charge on 0% brightness because of LGs stock webbrowser sandbox security.
5. I get constant "connection timed out" errors while trying to stream many online videos using the stock web browser.
6. CPU doesn't hit max speed on this device without messing with thermal options.
7. The phone is very laggy & slow on my version (10b), I don't know how other versions are though.
8. The glass started falling out of my first G3 (around the edges) and i had to exchange for a new one because of this. (my new one did this too but only at the bottom and i just live with it)
9. VERY poor color & contrast when the screen brightness is turned way up (looks good at low brightness though).
10. My left headphone buzzes while the CPU is under load while no audio is playing, Once the CPU load stops or once a song or movie starts playing the buzzing stops (tested with 2 sets of headphones, both buzz but apparently some other users say there are headphones that don't do this).
11. + some other small things.
Probly the most complained about things are these:
1. lag
2. overheating
3. physical cracks develop usually around the ir blaster or mic
Im not having any lag issues, im on 10i though, my phone is yet to get hot too, not sure why this is, im very very happy with mine at this stage, only downside is the locked bootloader.
No issues here, the heat issue was fixed with software updates from what I have seen. I have no issues with heat on mine. The contrast can be fixed or made a little better in the accessibility menu. I've had 3 G3's and none of them had the screen fall out or develop a crack around the frame. (I think that was a limited issue)
I bought my first G3 back in early June and it was fine until I dropped it off my balcony. My Att G3 hasn't had any issues either. The signal issue listed above is more of s perception thing. My F460S (G3 Prime) only has 4 bars in its cell service instead of 5-6 that others have. So basically if I have 3 bars its like having 4-5 and my connection has always been fine. I think that some of the issues are exaggerated on this phone but that's just from what I have seen after owning a G3 since it launched more or less.
No lag, no heating.. Just two troubles.. 1.LG software.. Phone is so slow and heavy. 2. Locked bootloader..no LG software replacement.
If you want a g3 with an unlocked bootloader, buy it from T-Mobile. I have mine rooted recoveried, and have installed a very nice custom rom/kernel. This is by far my favorite Android yet.
As far as Amb669's list goes we haven't seen any of those problems. My wife and I have had our Verizon G3's for a couple of weeks now (not exactly a long time) with zero issues.
My WiFi speed in particular is Amazing.
Keep in mind two very important caveats:
My wife and I almost certainly use our G3's differently than Amb669 (and each other) - not better or worse just different.
It's possible that if we used our G3's in the same way as Amb669 does we might experience similar problems.
Our G3's were purchased recently - our phones may be from a later batch that has had issues corrected.
Our G3's firmware/software could also be different/improved.
I LOVE this phone and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
I have some problems with my G3 too, it's too slow... i prefer my Old Xperia ZQ, maybe it's a Software Problem ? and my G3 gets so hot too... damit i'm disappointed.. there are something that could do ?? i already resete it but still the same thing.

I have not encountered ANY of these issues, except for the heat issue.. But seriously it doesn't get that hot? Mine gets to about 55 degrees Celcius and that's max.. (I have the int. Version though)
On the other hand I do agree on the fact that the colours could be better on high brightness but hey, it's not a Samsung AMOLED display like the S5
For me the LG G3 is a stylish, fast, and amazing phone that offers everything I need :good:
Check this for one of such problem I do have - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/lg-g3-d855-faulty-buzzing-interference-t2899373
I purchased the LG G4 from best buy about a month ago. My problem is that a quarter, half, or sometimes all of my screen will glitch out to white static. Sometimes it fixes itself, and sometimes it turns the display off. Sometimes when I turn the display on the glitching goes away for a while, and sometimes it just keeps glitching. It seems to happen especially while under load. It can happen on any screen though, including the home screen. After doing a little research I found some people recommending to enable developer options and Disable HW Overlays. This seems to have helped the problem, as with HW Overlays disabled the white static happens far less frequently. It dosent completely solve the problem though.
My question is if this is hardware or software realated. If the phone is running better with HW Overlays disabled, is it simply bypassing a piece of hardware that is causing the problem? My understanding is that it is forcing the GPU instead of the CPU to render the screen. I know very little about mobile phones though so any help would be much appreciated.
If someone could give some insight into what might be causing the static, and whether or not my phone is actually defective or if its some bad software, it would be greatly appreciated.
Something similar has happened to my screen, thought the problem only starts when I'm using Reddit sync. Basically the screen just gets really white for about a second and then fades back to normal. There was another thread about this issue but no solutions.

Well today my phone glitched out completely and wouldnt turn back on. I had to remove the battery and put it back in to reset it. I still dont know if its a hardware or software issue, but at this point it dosent really matter. Its going back to either verizon or lg. I hadnt bought a lg product in years because I have had similiar experiences with their products as far as quality control. I figured id give them another chance this time. Its a shame they wasted it. To anyone who reads this, id recommend to at least exchanging this phone out for a replacement if possible, and would probably recommend a different model completely. Its a really nice phone when its working, but this particular problem is actually getting worse as time progresses.
Hello , nice to meet you all. I am a new XDA user so apologies if i do any mistakes.
Yesterday, i got the 2 GB Ram variant of the LG G3 D855 from a relative. The phone almost works fine, except for two problems:
The first problem is that sometimes, the phone either locks up for about 3 seconds and shuts off (or maybe the screen shuts off? not sure), or either it completely reboots on it's own. I know, there is already information about this on the internet, however, some people say that it's a battery problem, some say it's an overheating problem. I am just confused. By the way, the issue happens no matter if the phone is charging or not. It also happens even when the phone isn't overheating, although it happens less. I may try a battery replacement, but unsure if it will fix it or not.
The second issue is, it's not really a critical issue, but it's just annoying. For some reason, especially when the phone overheats, the screen's right bottom side starts glitching (It also mostly happens on the home screen for some reason). And no, i don't mean flickering. Some glitchy lines appear at that portion of the display for about a millisecond and then goes away most of the time. Today the phone overheated when i was watching YT once and those lines appeared for like 5-10 seconds.
Also, i've noticed that the phone overheats a lot. Like, it gets quite hot sometimes.
I've already tried a factory reset, but it did not fix anything. The phone is running the stock Android Lollipop 5.0 firmware by the way. I did not want to take a risk trying to upgrade the phone to Marshmallow or install a custom ROM because of these problems.
I don't want to spend too much on the repairs of this phone since i've already got an another phone with almost the same specs as the LG G3. But i also want to use this phone. I just like it's design so much. Please tell me if it is worth getting it fixed and what i should do to get it fixed at the lowest cost possible. By the way, i don't understand much about the hardware of smartphones (I will get it repaired to an expert). So please, try to explain the problem as simple as you can do. Thank you and i wish you all a great day.
UPDATE: I've also noticed that the phone also has the screen flickering/disappearing issue.
However, asides from that, i've found an another issue too. So this evening, the phone was overheating too much so i decided to let it cool down a bit. So i closed the apps and put it into sleep mode. After about 5-10 seconds, the phone started doing REALLY LOUD tv static like noises. I immediately pulled the battery out, and i am afraid to turn on the phone because of that. I think the sound didn't come from the battery but i am still afraid.
I will bring the phone to a repair centre. But at this point, i don't know if it is worth getting it repaired. I am so confused. Is the phone dead or not? I've tried pulling the battery out and trying to boot the phne while it was getting charged (DON'T DO IT for your safety) and i get the "No battery" screen. I hope anyone that understands the hardware of this phone will help me. Thank you all.
Fellow Pixel-ers,
So, I broke my screen about 8 months ago. It had coverage and got it replaced by a Google authorized screen fixer place.
I noticed early on that things didn't seem quite right. If I pushed down too hard on the screen, my touch wouldn't register. But, it didn't happen too often and I didn't want to have to deal with arguing that they may have poorly installed the new screen/digitizer and that it wasn't 'my fault'.
As time went on I started noticing that the almost bottom of my screen would not register a touch but mostly only at night. Again, it didn't happen too often and it usually went away after a little poking/prodding/pushing/.
I also thought it might be an application that I gave 'screen Overlay' rights that I shouldn't have and it was causing issues.
I validated my issue by using a Touchscreen Test app.
When I use an app like Vysor I am able to 'access' that area of the screen even when my fingers cannot. Does that validate this is a hardware issue?
The area affected was definitely more than just a few pixels (see screenshots).
More recently it was happening more frequently (not just at night) and it almost never goes away.
I wanted to make sure it wasn't a software issue. So I planned on dirty flashing my OS (AquariOS), but actually ended up accidentally upgrading to a clean version of Android 10. Unfortunately, the issue was still there.
I then did a clean flash and downgraded back to Pie w/AquariOS.
Shortly after getting back up the issue showed up again.
At this point, I have virtually lost all touch response for the bottom 1/8 (not quite the very bottom) of my screen. I've had to use a floating keyboard because the space bar falls right in that area. Sometimes I can't click 'next' or 'continue' in apps or web sites.
Has anyone ever experienced this very odd digitizer issue like this? Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas.
I'm guessing the only solution is a new phone as it is not worth the money to fix it.
So now I'm just waiting for either the Pixel 4A or 5 to come out so I can get a new phone I guess.
I just find this very odd how specific this area of 'dead pixels' is. I always thought it was more random than a specific rectangle.
I look forward to hearing from anyone.

Hi bro, I've face the exact same issue, but for me it was at the center of the screen. Luckily my phone was under warranty, but getting them to replace my touch digitizer was a whole different thing. At first they just didn't acknowledge the issue, then I tried showing them proofs but they didn't believe as they were from some third party apps. Finally, I used markup to show them the issue and recorded it took some screenshots as well. So, they replaced my digitizer at last after constantly speaking them for 2-3 weeks. I can only suggest you that if your phone is still under warranty or you have accidental damage coverage, ask them to replace them. Otherwise, it'll be better to buy a new phone as replacing the screen from your pocket may be very costly.
For anyone who reads this thread,
I resigned myself to having a bad digitizer but was starting to look to replace the phone. Then about a week later I inadvertently dropped the phone in a pool. Unfortunately, as the screen had been replaced the waterproofing was no longer good and phone was a brick. So I never resolved the issue but will always assume that the company that replaced the screen did a less perfect job and that when a screen is replace the phone looses it's waterproofing ability
