Hi guys, I am new to this....i have a BMW X1 that did not come with a head unit so I got one from eBay it's the 7” HD Android Car DVD Player for BMW X1 with Bluetooth GPS,free camera
I don't see how to install apps to it and I can see that Google Chrome is already installed on it from the apps tab but I can seem to find it to open it.
Please help.

Is it possible root all chinese android car dvd players? I have now 4.0.4 version and is it possible root without computer? What custom roms are best for this kinda players? I saw that current version not support bluetooth and i am intresting bluetooth support for calling. Is there big chace brick that player?
I think the real challenge is how to build the custom rom for that kind of device. Chinese companies like to use unknown/uncommon cheap hardware to assemble Android device. Without the drivers for the hardware, you cannot build a custom rom.

I have bought yestarday an awful Android 4.0 8inch 2Din Car Video Player For TOYOTA PRIUS 2009-2012 Left (PIP,3D UI,GPS,TV,WIFI,3G,BT,IPOD,RDS). It was "prerooted", after installing Super User every programs which needed root are working. Did you buy something like this?

Hi bud , I had same problem and couldnt find a fix so bought poweramp player and it works fine . hope this helps
Check the software section. There are services available that intercept the signal and transfer to apps

Hello, I am new to the forum and the whole head units things, but I had the same issue as you mention. Only worked on default music player, but not others. I downloaded the app RK3066 (available in the app store - can't post outside links, sorry) and it fixed my issue. I have a Klyde unit with the RK3066, from Pumpkin.
When I installed RK3066 I also installed XposedMTC. I'm not sure if it is required to make the steering wheel controls work but these 2 apps made a huge difference on my head unit.

I have recently added a 7" Chinese DVD with wince6 to my car. I want to share my phone screen and control it from the dvd. The screen sharing part is easy and can be done via hdmi to composite cable or by getting a mirabox device. My problem is with the screen control, i have searched online with no solution. The only thing i found is the mimics x2 but its expensive and cant be found anywhere. I have found other chinese dvd models running wince that can share the phone screen and control it through usb. How can i add this functionality to my dvd?
Note: i have both iphone and android phones, and just need to connect any of them for google maps, as it is the only nav sw with traffic in my country.
Another note: if i can do this, i will not need the onboard nav sw. Im saying this to open room for suggesting apps that can do this and i can run them instead of the nav app.
