I'm still using my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 kitkat 4.4.2 ,
i know it's an old phone, but it's working fine
We're already on Oreo version android OS,
since, theres no way i can upgrade to Oreo, and i don't want to purchase a new phone,
is there an open source custom rom, operating system that i can install on my note 2,
is there such a thing as a custom operating system that can be installed on new and old phones,
im tried of not recieving any new features or security updates,
why can't android be the same as desktops,
im running linux on a old desktop and it is still supported,
is there a team out there working on an open source operating system for everyone to use and it updated?

AICP gets weekly updates (automatically).
Some other ROMs (from that table) get manual updates as soon as the monthly security patch is available.
Im going to install LineageOS and see how that goes, it seems that one is the best one that has the most support?
At least i found my way easy around their website, going to give that a shot
Hey there. I just got a Note 8 on Verizon with build BRB1 installed (Feb security patch). Any chance there's an Android Oreo build that I can upgrade to from my current software?
Thanks!

Is it worth losing the ability to root? Currently on a rootable firmware that's unrooted.

I find that with the theme manager and SABS, Samsung Ad Blocker, this phone is awesome with no root. My main concerns were customization and adblocking. All taken care of without root.
I turned off otas with the universal firmware upgrade.
How can I get Oreo?
Does it have Atmos sound like the S9?
Hello.. the new firmware with may patch, is downgradable? because the build number is A520FXXUACSE6, the number for example 8 or 7 or 4 doesn't appear. appear the "A".. so the downgrade maybe work?

I think it is probably for security. Just in case there is a serious bug in an older firmware version. It helps prevent exploiting.

Oh, I misunderstood then. I was talking about official Samsung firmware.
Please make One UI 3 rom for J6 Plus
I have a Samsung J2 SM-S260DL still stuck on Android 8.1. Some of the apps I use are now only compatible with Android 9 +. Does Samsung automatically update the phone's Android ---because I contacted Tracfone and they told me it's up to the phone manufacturer. I tried the phone's software update, but don't get the 9 update.

Android 8.1.0_0008
Build MTAJQ.S260DLUDU2ASE4
Kernel 3.18.14-16126611
I don't think Samsung after 4 years of releasing this phone has the motivation to improve Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) to version 9. Enjoy what you have.
p.s.
What compels you to look for android 9?

B/c a few of the apps I use are now only compatible with android 9+. I've only had the phone a couple of years--I got it from QVC. They tend to sell phones already released for cheap. I got the Samsung J2, 1500 data, 1500 texts, 1500 minutes with 1 year of service for 59.99 --on 6 payments of like 10 bucks. Phone works great. Is in excellent condition---but just need Android 9 b/c some of the app updates need newer versions of android
