Does anyone have dual boot rom (e.g. android 6 & 7) on his mi mix 2? Is it possible?

My guess is that it could be done. I know there are kernel tweaks to be done for multirom to work. The question is if any developer takes it into his hands to do that

try dualbootpather it works.but breaks dm verity dont forget to remove lock pattern and finger print. Or set dont ask pattern on start. Fingerprint works but lock pattern going lost.

No it's still same style in this build.
Im using the EU rom with the same build number.

You need to do a two finger swipe to reveal details for e.g. Gmail, and Nougat-style rich notifications (e.g. in-line reply) aren't available.
I read that MIUI 9 will bring face unlock. Is this already included or in closed beta?
Does anyone already have it and made some tests? Can it be tricked with images etc.?

Although i input true password but system always alert wrong pass and cannot passed into the home screen.

This patch is for getting the notch working on treble roms.
- Tested on PHH Treble (9.0)
Manual:
Mount system and vendor in TWRP
adb push treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk /vendor/overlay/treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk
adb push treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk /system/overlay/treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk
Download: treble-overlay-xiaomi-mi8.apk
To fix the crappy sound:
- Reboot into TWRP
- Mount vendor
- Use file manager to remove the whole soundfx direcory (/vendor/lib64/soundfx)
To fix NFC:
- Download the zip (over here)
- Reboot into TWRP
- Mount vendor
- Flash the zip
Current bugs on phh-treble (9.0) :
- Fingerprintscanner pretend to be an enter / select key.
- Camera is not yet the quallity of the stock MIUI
- Hotspot is not working (Bluetooth thering does work)

All treble roms will work on Mi 8, because it's launched with Android 8.0 or higher.
The Mi 8 is an A-Only version, so you have the flash the A-only image
It's only possible some features wont work, like wifi, camera and fingerprint scanner.
I use the PHH Treble (9.0) rom and I'm really satisfied
Still waiting on my Mi 8 to arrive, but I'm glad you figured out how to implement the notch! mind sharing an image of what the notifications look like now? does it have the overflow dot when the notifications exceed the room?

At the moment I have no notifications, so I will wait for notifications and make a screen of it! :laugh:

Thanks, appreciate it. looks good, only problem is now that the clock is on the left there is only room for 2 notifications it seams. Wonder if there is any way to move the clock back to the right to make more room?

It's for now possible with an Substratum theme to move the clock to the position you want.

I've installed the phh-treble over MIUI, I've did a factory reset with TWRP and flashed the system with the phh-treble image

same. I've never touched treble before. I'm using xiaomi.eu rom at the moment but i'd much rather get away from miui to something more stock. Also does Xposed work?

Only the annoying soundbug with notification and alarm sounds, the other are fixed by ViperFX 1.7
Also the fingerprint sensor pretends to be the enter of the select key.
I have to figure it out where it is going wrong, so I can fix it with an other patch :good:

Can we all do this using TWRP or we need a PC?

It is possible! download the apk.
Reboot into recovery, just mount system and vendor in TWRP
Use the filemanager in TWRP:
- Copy the apk from your internal storage
- Paste it at /vendor/overlay
- Copy the apk again
- Paste /system/overlay

Never install it, this will make you phone crap, fp is a mess with it, unlock screen took at least 4 seconds to unlock, in stock is instantly

I can't try on my redmi note 6 , i have to wait 10 days for inlock...
it's amazing and heartbreaking that xiaomi have left something like this.
Actually i use the solution with KLWP (no need root), it works well. notifications remain at the top of the screen and are clickable. But it would be nice if it was native and under the clock in the status bar...

If you are on stock Rom, there is a Magisk module in the telegram group which enable that option through the defaults MIUI apps for dialing/contacts.
Otherwise you may want to flash a regional Rom which support this feature out of the box, Indonesian Global is the one (code ID).

Yes magisk module require magisk to me installed, which means systemless root (it does not modify your system partition, just to boot one, easily reflashable).
Rooting requires recovery, recovery requires unlocked bootloader.
So unlocking bootloader (which can be relocked afterward) is the first thing to do since it require to wait for 2 weeks before it gets unlocked.
Besides that, yes you can stay on stock rom.
