Substratum - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone else notice that any Substratum themes don't seem to play nicely with 8.1.0? I tried Spectrum on both the AOSP and Lineage 15.1 ROMs, and it sent my tablet into shutdown mode and right to TWRP both times. Very odd. I have a backup, so no biggie. Going to try Pitch Black next...

Well, Pitch Black was a success!

swift black seems to be fine, just the dumb persistent notification. I just disable and re-enable and that seems to keep it away.

Inverted Colors Stuck On?

So I was playing around in gravity box and enabled inverted colors.... Problem is, clicking the button again does nothing. So my phones stuck in inverted color mode. A restart did nothing. Already looked in accessibility options. There is no inverted color option. How can I disable this? Or at the very least re-invert the colors back? I really don't want to factory reset my device.

Power Menu not working

Good afternoon guys,
When I hold down the power button no menu options come up (reboot, power off, etc). The phone will simply reboot, but it's more like a soft reboot than an actual reboot. I have not been able to pinpoint what's causing this. I'm running stock, rooted with magisk, greenify and busy box modules. Has anyone experienced this? I tried saving logs with Syslog app but I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Are you using any Substratum themes?

No sir.
Did use Privset app to enable 4way screen rotation, but reverted the changes thinking that caused. But it didn't fix it.
I have the same with my Oneplus 5. If i hold powerbutton normaly i get the power menu but now it just reboots.
Update:
When i hold the powerbutton till the phone turns off (fall out) after that restart the menu is working again.

That's interesting. Didn't work for me though.
This was happening to me. I'm assuming it was substratum theme that caused this. I had to reflash rom to fix it for me. For the other people that are experiencing this issue IDK if they were on stock rom or not but this was my fix as I am running freedom of ROM

I faced this issue before it's cause by some substratum theme.
for what I face is Ozone substratum theme.

Thank you both. I wasn't using any themes. It may have been caused by Privset app since it has to install an overlay apk to modify the framework

Can't get notification shade to show up on lock screen

So I've gotten the latest .eu rom up and running, but I can't seem to get the notification shade to appear on the lock screen, even after toggling it. Anyone know what's up?

Works fine on 8.8.9 eu. Did you pull it down once toggled? (just being as detailed as possible to figure it out). Try using Android Pi Dark theme. That's what I've got. Maybe it's theme related. Shouldn't be but could be.

I couldn't seem to find anything like that. Also, while we're here, would you be able to tell me how to make it so my soft buttons auto-hide again? I clearly changed something I shouldn't have and now I can't find it again. If you could make money from ****ing up, I'd be a millionaire.

Full screen mode in settings. Type it and it'll take you to the apps. It auto hides it fit whichever apps you choose. Or download One Plus Gestures + Hide Nav Bar for even better customization.

Pie Dark Theme not working?

Hi folks,
I've just got one of these excellent phones and the first thing I did was upgrade to Pie.
All great so far, but the Dark Theme under the advanced Display settings doesn't seem to do anything.
Anyone else got this problem? Really don't like all the white backgrounds.
Thanks for any info.
Have you tried to set a dark wallpaper first and then choose the dark theme?
Can confirm it's not working the normal "Pie" way. You still have to use the "Oreo" way initially like slimshady76 said you need to trigger it by adding a dark home screen wallpaper and set the themes setting to auto. Once it's triggered you can change the theme settings to dark and switch back to your old wallpaper, dark theme will stay now. If you wonder how it should look like, check this out
Just to make this clear, it clearly should work without the trick in Pie as it does on Pixel phones. Probably a bug that comes from updating from Orea to Pie if I had to make a guess.

Not because of upgrading, because I flashed full ROM with MiFlash and the issues persist. The bug level of this device's "official stable" Rom is just wow.
What I meant was that the device was made with Oreo, thus every Pie version for the A2 lite is just an update. It would probably be working if it would be developed on Pie right away.
All I can say is that I didn't notice many bugs after updating directly from stock Oreo to the latest stable Pie. However earlier Pie versions seem to have been more unstable.
Thanks for the replies.
It does seem to work using the workaround for static wallpaper, but if you choose a live wallpaper it reverts but to white. Is this likely to get fixed in a future update?
Is there any way to get the 'settings' background dark?
Thanks again.

Not Yet, real dark mode (with everything being dark) will come with the next android update though.
check out the app swift installer. it can change your whole system and most apps to darkmode. working pretty good for me.
alternatively you can wait for Android 10 release to get system wide dark mode
Thanks for the Swift Installer suggestion, but was hoping to avoid rooting at this stage.
Guess I'll have to wait for Android 10.
It seems even the Pixel phones don't have a dark 'settings' background yet either.
I've found solution by accident. If you use Lawnchair launcher, you can set device theme in launcher settings, and it has more options (like dark, black, etc) while it still remains system wide. And best of all, you can use live wallpapers as well without it reverting to light theme.
hi;
i have something strange with my darkmode on mi A2 Lite (10.0.13.0, magisk/edXposed)
drawer, quick settings from notification bar, sound mode change, google app, dialer, chrome, agenda, all have dark mode
only settings menu and google now (on the left of main screen) have light theme
anyone here have the same problem? or even a solution?
thanks to helpers

Swift Installer/Substratum Alternative without rooting

Hi all,
So, got my note 10 today but swift installer won't work without a root which is a pain as I paid for the app as it worked on my note 9 but now its useless.
Useless in the fact that I have no clue how to root my phone and no doubt would probably brick it.
Anyone got any ideas as I can't take the glare of all these bright apps lol....need them dark again.
Any help appreciated

Go to settings>display>night mode, it's system wide dark mode. Looks like it will have to do until someone tries synergy and substratum lite on the Note 10. I've already had to do a FDR trying some of the things that used to work.

Yeah already have it on night mode, I'm used to having 90% of my apps black though from my note 9

Same here, guess for now night mode will have to do. There are a few apps that have a night or dark mode setting, trying to find as many as I can.

yeah, there's not that many in fairness which is a pain, you'd think by now they'd all have the option
I'm using synergy and themes well. A few posts are in apps forum about it.

So you're saying that Synergy and Substratum Like are working on the Note 10+? I've already tries some of the old stuff and had to do a FDR and don't want to do another one.
Working fine. I'm on note 10 using swift black
Even better, try Hex Installer from the Play Store. It allows you to customize theme colors such as background and accents. My favorite feature is the setting to reduce the roundness of UI elements, more like the Pixel. You can also download a plug-in for an Android Q theme which gives the UI a completely new look.

started using that too but swift black isn't actually black, it's grey which is disappointing. Tried using a deep black one but it didn't do all of the apps I wanted so went back to swift black for now. I hope swift installer make it non root compatible for the note 10

I've set up Synergy and Sbstratum Lite with Swift Black theme but I still cannot get the OS themed black in settings and top nav, but apps and notification panel are black. Any tips? I dod install the night mode apk but when I try turning it on i get a notification that I can't turn it on while using a theme

Some of the themes require dark mode for theme to work properly. For that go back to Synergy > Menu > Dark mode settings and enable it. You have to dl the new dark mode button from the menu in synergy.

Thanks! Haha, the instructions are not very clear on that. I did the install for that component and was attempting to turn Night Mode on in the quick panel, but you have to do it through the Synergy submenu after install. Got a sexy black theme now!

Go back into Synergy, hit the settings button on the bottom left and hit night mode settings. I believe it will have you download a plug in the first time and after that ittl bring up a setting letting you turn on system dark mode!
Samsung good look? You can customize few things
