I have used two apps Auto Speaker and SpeakerPhone on my previous phones basically uses proximity sensor to switch between earpiece and speaker which is super convenient for me. That said neither work on op5t and its stupid dialer. Any suggestions options?

No need to be rooted.
Just look in Apps, you just need to install.APK and give permissions.
Google dialer does not have this option. I love proximity speaker as well. Hopefully we start getting more roms, like purefusion that integrate this feature into the dialer

I never know what to look for often there are multiple variations with multiple threads etc...like the google cam, no idea which one is new which one isn't is is gcam or google camera all in one etc, i have it installed now, one of the versions works nice other than the apps for automatic speakerphone still don't work.
If somebody could explain to me how to find the latest apps and all the apps available other than scour through hundreds of pages I would appreciate it.

I've been wanting to install CM for a while now, but after looking around it seems that the camera related stuff is very dependant on some proprietary stuff so it tends to freeze on CM and cause the phone to reboot - does that happen very often? I believe it should be stable on milestone versions, but I just want to double check.

Well I'm not sure what you have been reading but the camera issue does not force the phone to reboot. You do however have to rebooted yourself if it fails to connect.
However there is a fix/workaround on Google play, just remember to follow instructions or it wont work...

I use Google Camera (As I like photosphere) and whenever I get the "cant connect" issue I use this and it launches fine

Yes, that's what I meant, good to hear it's sorted.
Am I right in thinking that CM based on Lollipop is several months away? I thought about waiting but if that's the case then I think I'll go with CM11.

Could be yes but you will likely see other nice AOSP based roms before then.

Try version 4 of this fix for cm. After flashing i had "can't connect" error completely gone.
Still i find photo quality much worse than stock rom.

Yeah, what i mean is camera on non-stock roms is just way worse, afaik it's driver related problem.

For a while now i've been using stock-based. May be any one could share some photos (day- and night-time) taken on cm/pa/other custom rom for comparison.

Eh... This doesn't sound too good, guess I'll stay on stock for the time being. Thanks for all the replies.
We all know of the Stagefright exploit (and the patch that SEEMINGLY fixed it even though its still vulnerable). A lot of AOSP based roms have placed a patch inside of their firmware, and some manufacturers have sent software updates to their devices (the M8 and M9 rumored to get the update this month) What I'm trying to ask is, would it possibly be safer to go S-OFF and get an AOSP-based ROM or stay on stock Sense and wait for the August update, of which we do not know that it will solve the problem entirely? I used the Stagefright detector for Stock S-On on my M8 and it was vulnerable to every bug except one.

I'm not really panicking, I was just wondering which option would be better for the time being. I'm confident the Stage fright will be solved before we deal with Android M.

The option which is better is the one you choose ! If YOU think it's better to switch to a rom with the stagefright patch than do it. I am on a custom rom without the patch and turned off mms auto retrieve options. Enough for me. I think it's also a bit blown up by the media. If a similar situation was happening like 15 years ago we wouldn't even know about it like we do now. Media and especially social media is very aggressive in these situations.
Cheers

Stagefright works through SMS/MMS on Hangouts. Go to your Hangouts settings and turn off "Auto Retrieve MMS" and only download them from people you trust. Problem solved.
ok...i'm not using Hangouts...is deleted from my phone...cool
auto retrieve mms is only one vector of attack. you'll still need the patch. as far as I can tell, htc will be releasing the patch this week.

Other message apps are also vulnerable, including the stock Messages app, and any 3rd parting messaging apps with the auto-retrieve function.

Also the most likely vector. I've seen some discussions on XDA that any app that uses the Stagefright api is vulnerable, such as video players. But how would such an attack be triggered, if not by a message? I'm not just asking to be critical, but as a legit question; as I'm not a developer, so such an attack may well be possible for all I know.
The solution to turn off auto-retrieve is a good idea, until the OS is patched. Its certainly better than doing nothing.
Hi guys,
Just wondering if there's a way to enable on-screen navigation buttons on the HTC 10, whether through root or a custom rom. I've gone through the stock room but could not find any settings related to it.
Thanks!

as mentioned above its a feature available in ICE & Lee not sure about Viper as i haven't tried them yet....
Google just put out a blog post with a screenshot of Assistant on the HTC 10 with on-screen navigation buttons at the bottom above the fingerprint scanner:

Do you think Google's using a custom ROM on a rooted HTC 10 here? Or is this just a photoshop from an oblivious screenshot-maker? If that's actually on the phone, I'd like to know how Google did it.

"on-screen navigation buttons at the bottom above the fingerprint scanner", which is what this thread is about
The article already states that Assistant will be available to all devices (the only thing that sensibly means is you'll be able to install it from the app store), so how to "get" Assistant here is irrelevant, the reference to Assistant is just a reference to the screenshot.

i would guess that is a render to look like a non specific device, although I haven't checked the link. I've seen that many times before.

Strange if they would render an HTC 10 to look like a non-specific device then name it the HTC 10.
Possibly some designer just copied and pasted the Pixel screen, but it doesn't seem necessary to include the navigation buttons on the HTC 10 image when they don't include them on the Galaxy S7 image; who knows, maybe they have all three devices and have somehow turned on the navigation buttons on the HTC 10 through some setting only available to Google developers... I can't imagine they'd use a device with a custom ROM that doesn't represent what people can get in stores.
Hi guys!
i read the thread, and i still want to know
The is a way to enable on screen nav buttons WITHOUT custom rom?
I've tried to edit build.prop but it's not worked on my HTC 10...
Should be able to edit build prop and I think acc file for this...
Hi, I'm going to flash CM13 and I'm confusing about several problems.
-Are there anyway to use manual mode in Asus PixelMaster without distortion (get rid of the s#*tty green image)? I read in a topic that I can disable the built in camera app, is it true?
-How to imrove battery life in CM13?
-Is Pokémon GO working on CM13?
Thanks in advance

Manual mode works great in Cm13. The only time you get the green is when you use optimization. And the work around is to also turn on hdr. That seems to fix it. (also, in order to save to sd you need to make pixelmaster a system app).
I don't do anything special for battery life. It's pretty much the same as most other roms. And seems fine to me.
Pokémon go works fine for me!

Yeah, I can't read the whole thread, because there are 7778 posts which are posted on nearly 800 pages!!!!
And just one more question, how can I install PixelMaster on CM-based roms since it doen't appear in Play Store (I used RR-M)
Edit: just one more! is miracast working well in nightly builds of official CM13

Weird, I got it from the play store. Have you changed your dpi? Sometimes the play store hides things if your dpi is different.
I don't use miracast but I haven't seen any complaints so...

Hey all, looking to get input for a working flash notification app. For when you get a text, call, app notification, etc... Perviously used a few on the Note 7 but can't seem to find one down that fully functions.
Thanks in advance!
Flashing notifications has always been a big deal to me. I've been let down in the past with some devices limitation on different lights and what not. I purchased an app a couple years ago that works great if your device can handle it. I've tested it on the pixel and it works excellent. It's called lightflow.. and here's the play store link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en
You do need root, and in setting - notifications - click on the gear - turn on pulse notification light (which is off by default!?!?!?!). You also need to give it rights in the accessibility menu.
Should work fine for you as it's working GREAT for me.
Good luck!

here's a free version.. not sure how limited it is.. might be good for testing purposes (but I can already tell you this is working fine).

also, I read on this app it doesn't REQUIRE root which I thought was required when I first purchased the app. Things might have changed. I did root my pixel and this app is working fine. If it doesn't work, it might be root related if you don't have root.
