Which app variant to downgrade to? Gmail, Photos, Google app? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Im trying to downgrade a few of googles apps because they have caused some problems with the swift dark theme. The dev of the theme said google has changed some of the apps to where the nav bar is white when the app is opened. It looks off. Trying to find what variants to use for the google photos app, etc. is the pixel 2 xl arm64 or x86? and what dpi would i use?

Android UI on Non-Rooted Fire Phone(My Setup)

Buzz launcher is working really well, no widget support but I have searchbar, wallpaper, and notifications are coming through fine(I don't have a number icon but they show on lock screen and in drop down) also I just managed to get stock jb camera and gallery working. I've spent a few hours trying every launcher I could get and the best two were go launcher and Buzz launcher, although google now launcher is available and great except for the wallpaper support.
At this point I have a mostly stock(not rooted sadly) up to date 3.6.8 unlocked fire phone. I've added Google play store, installed Buzz launcher and glovebox, and pushed stock jellybean camera and gallery via .apk file. I'm also using chomp sms, gmail, stock dialer, chrome browser and apus booster.
Any suggestions or ideas? I'm loving the hardware but we seem to have a small following and very few developers behind us which means we're on our own.
launchers I have tried and had issues with-
1. Yahoo Aviate, crashes on launch.
2)ADW- worked well bot no widgets or wallpaper.
3)Nova-no wallpaper or widgets but stable.(beta has same issues)
4)Holo Launcher(regular and HD)- no widgets or wallpaper
5)DU Launcher- no wallpaper or widget
6)Themer- wallpaper support but random crashing after sleep
7)Smart Launcher 2-no wallpaper or widget
8.)Action Launcher 3- no wallpaper or widget
9)Everything Me Launcher- no wallpaper or widget, crashing
10) 2Tap Launcher- crashes quickly no wallpaper
11)CM Launcher- no wallpaper, crashing rarely but mentionable
Working launchers
1) Buzz Launcher fully functional except for widgets, my daily driver for now seems to be the most stable so far
2)Google Now- works very well but no wallpaper support but very stable
3)Go launcher- wallpaper works(i couldnt change it from the stock wallpaper but it was better than a black screen, ran well no crashes for two days)
* as of the update on 4/4/15 go launcher no longer has wallpaper at all
4)Lightning Launcher- works perfectly (only last because it is the only paid app I listed)
Useful Apps/Options
Stock JB Camera and Gallery(Will post .apk asap)
Google Play and GApps
Glovebox (sidebar/dock)
Chomp SMS(works well but must be kept running or will not notify)
*I've switched to hangouts for sms and it's working really well(hangouts dialer was less than perfect, but did function)
Also using Google play music and still searching for new options daily while waiting on fire os4
Workarounds
Configured gestures via buzz to launch google now from searchbar, doubletap screen for JB Camera, tied Chrome to as many apps as possible to mimic default browser.

A few more screen caps
(From Left to Right)
Google Now Launcher
Buzz Launcher
Buzz Launcher and my app drawer
Jelly Bean Stock camera(gallery also installed and working)

Homee launcher works, widgets, wallpaper, etc. But most themes are a bit feminine for my tastes. Been using it for a week or two pretty neat overall.
A new launcher that supports some widgets and wallpapers
Dodol Launcher from the play store
To get wallpaper to show you must go into advanced settings and enable exclusive wallpaper. As far as widgets go it's pretty limited and seems to only support it's own built in one's

Some pictures of Dodol Launcher and Google play music both working well

Launcher Lab
Launcher Lab works perfectly except for no widget support, you can however use its built in widgets. its fully customizable so getting a native look isn't hard.

Lock Screen
Or update via Launcher Settings[/QUOTE]
Hydroman, this works perfect. Being a former Mi phone user, this is like going native. Only issue is lock screen not working. Still default fire lock screen takes effect. Any suggestions?

I am getting my notifications from Hangouts, Facebook,XDA App, and all my mail accounts. But I've been using NotifierPro Free since before 4.6.1 update. I'll uninstall it and let you know some time tonight or tomorrow morning if I'm still getting them.
On non rooted? My fav Holo Launcher Plus.. Notifications bubbles on Icons Are Working there.
On rooted with notification bubbles:
Nova with Missed It!
Google Now Launcher with Xposed Gel Settings and Missed It!

Round Icons?

Updated to the 7.1.1 beta today. Are the round icons only appear on Pixel phones. Every article I've read said that was a feature in the beta. I am completely stock and my Icons aren't round. Am I missing something? Love the new camera update and the app shortcuts.
It's pixel launcher's privilege.. I think I saw an apk at Apkmirror yesterday about icons and pixel launcher too.
These should do the job.
I installed latest Pixel launcher apk and latest round icons app
So far the only round icon with white background I'm seeing is the calendar.
Now, regarding pixel launcher...I don't know how to make the swipe option work.

Edit: Installed as system app and works.

Launcher settings

Hello guys!
I really like the Pixel 2 launcher, but I'd love to have a bunch of small features that the rootless version has like:
-swipe down anywhere for notifications
-disable white gradient on bottom of screen
-force coloured Google logo on any wallpaper
I cannot install that launcher as I need to uninstall the stock one and that requires root. Is there any way to get these features, especially the G logo thing?
Thanks in advance!

If it's rootless I would assume it installs as a second launcher that you can enable (settings, apps & notifications, advanced, default apps, home app). I assume "uninstall you old Pixel Launcher first (if you already have one" means if you installed the Pixel launcher while it was not the default one (like installing the Pixel launcher on a Nexus 6P).

If I try to install it it says simply that it did not install. It conflicts with the stock one on the Pixel which cannot be uninstalled or even disabled.
Strange that a rootless launcher requires root. It's probably designed for a non-Pixel phone.

EMUI Icons Themes

Hi,
I have added a few extra icons into one of the theme files, and most update, but there are some apps that just won't change. For example:
WhatsApp
Chrome
Android Messages
YouTube
etc...
I have taken the exact process name for the app from what is listed on the Store for the .apk and it's class name in process viewer, but they just won't change. Even after clearing the Home cache and rebooting.
Has anyone else been able to theme the icons for these apps?
Ah could it be because they are system apps?
EDIT: But then WhatsApp isn't so, still not sure.
