How to root on CM-based rom? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone!
This is probably a very nooby question, but i cant figure out how to root on a custom rom. I have ResurrectionRemix rom installed with trwp recovery and RemixKernel.
My device is l9192 (dual sim).
The root in the FAQ only links to the root Toolkit which i used on stock rom and it says to not use it on custom roms. Same for all other roots here.
Tried to install superSu from playstore and reboot with trwp, but it doesnt ask me if i want to root.
Can someone explain me how to do it?
I really appreciate any help! Thanks!

Hi, you'll find the LineageOS Root addon packages here: https://download.lineageos.org/extras
Flash in Recovery and your new Root options will be available in Developer Settings.

Download SuperSU recovery flashable ZIP from here: http://www.supersu.com/download
(Scroll down to ZIP, and click under "Latest(V2.82):")
Enter TWRP recovery and flash the ZIP file, reboot.

If i were you, i'd get back on stock recovery with a mod that remove the oppo zip signature verification !
I don't know if it's possible to update by staying with twrp

Correct. No official updates with TWRP as your recovery. Only stock can flash those. I saw somewhere in the forums that someone has a modified TWRP (unofficial) that can do so. You might want to look for that to see if exists.

Since your intent is to flash a custom ROM (based on your other thread here), there is no need to root prior to flashing the ROM. Just flash the desired custom ROM, as they are already rooted.
Also, probably no need to start a new thread, as you've already caused confusion by doing so. I wasted my time responding to your other thread (how to install custom recovery) when you already figured it out (you didn't update the other thread).

Just look up "supersu binaries zip." and download the latest from chainfire's website. Flash it from recovery and the notification will be gone.

[Q] can I lose ROOT?

Hi everybody
First, sorry for my bad inglish.
I have a little question , I have sm-t700 with stock rom, i have root with cf autoroot.
Now i want to change my stock rom for another one, if I use for exemple flashify apk o another one for change my stock rom o titanium backup o what ever apk for change the rom, when I flash the new room, can I lose the root in my device?
I don't have windows pc for use again odin, dont want lose my root.
Thx everybody!!!!
What rom are you trying to flash? Anyway as long you have twrp recovery, supersu will prompt you to install the binaries when you open the app and choose install with twrp/cwm. Then you will still have root. But most custom roms should be prerooted
I think YES you need root again if is it not modded rom.

Oh. Well you said you had the SMT700 right? This is the one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2963870
Anyway as long you have twrp recovery, just flash a zip (google it) called supersu.zip after flashing the rom. Then you should have root. Just follow the instructions in the thread I gave you and you should be good

downloading: Cyanogenmod 12: https://blck.io/cm-12-20150218-UNOFFICIAL-klimtwifi.zip
Need flash the recovery too? Cyanogen Recovery: https://blck.io/c-recovery-20150207-...-klimtwifi.img
O can I still twrp? I go to use TWRP apk for flashCyanogenmod 12: https://blck.io/cm-12-20150218-UNOFFICIAL-klimtwifi.zip
is better joining to recovery mode?
It doesn't matter what rom you have installed you can use any recovery compatible for your device. If you flash a stock rom you will end up with stock recovery unless it's a nandroid.

[Q] Regarding Lenovo A536, how can i root it?

Kindly help me about this or can anyone teach me how to do it... Thanks in advance.
I want to reboot and root my phone. Hmmm... and can i upgrade it into a Lollipop?
Root your A536 (TWRP & SuperSU)
Hello, do you have custom recovery installed? If so, all you have to do is flash SuperSU from this site: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
If you don't have one, try flashing this TWRP recovery I found over the net using SP Flash tool. Use the scatter file and make sure that the recovery.img is selected.
Kindly give me a feedback if it works.

Hey,
Sorry to revive an old thread. I just installed towelroot from towelroot(dot)com, it went successful. Now my phone says "towelroot" can damage your device. :crying: What should I so, I can't uninstall it can I?
I installed "Root Checker" from google play and it says "Root access is properly installed on this device!"
I couldn't find SuperSU on google play.
What's next? My device is Xperia M C2005 4.3 Stock FW, Build No 15.5.A.0.18
Thanks,

Supersu has been removed from playstore due to some reason. You can download it from their website or just search on Google.

Thanks for your reply. I was just wondering, if my phone is rooted, do I need to install SuperSU?
I checked SuperSU website www(dot)supersu(dot)com(slash)DOWNLOAD and all the links seem to be dead.
I wanted to install TWRP recovery, I installed the app from playstore, flashed twrp img to recovery, but when I try to reboot to recovery, it reboots normally. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help.

If you are in stock rom twrp won't work. Cwm recovery might work. And yes you should install supersu so you know which apps are using root access.

Okay great, but now I have more questions.
Xperia M C2005, Stock FW 4.3 Build 15.5.A.0.18
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Phone Rooted: Yes
Now can I install SuperSU via adb command? Few weeks ago I installed SuperSU on my Moto X via TWRP and that's the only method I know so far
or is there any other method? I found the zip file on download(dot)chainfire(dot)eu, now I don't know how to flash it without TWRP.
I'm also planing to install a cleaner much lighter custom rom. Can I do it without TWRP? If yes, how? If you can guide me to a thread or link that's be great too.
Thank yo so very much for your help. :highfive:

If you are already rooted then just install supersu apk. If you google it you'll find many sites having download links.
For custom rom, well I think you misunderstood me. You can access twrp while on stock rom. It's just that you can't flash anything I guess. (I actually forgot what was the problem anyways) I think you are pressing vol - button while power on. Try keep pressing vol + button after installing twrp through adb command. Then usual procedure for installation of custom roms
Here's link to how to install custom rom but one thing is make sure you flash magisk zip along with rom zip.
