Hello
My fingerprint scanner is not working at all. It used to work but after a while it stopped. I have tried removing the persist partition with no luck. I'm at the point where I believe it is hardware based. Does anyone know if there is a way of removing the fingerprint scanner from the screen?
Hi, I'm having a similar issue too. But I couldn't erase persist partition because I couldn't enter EDL mode. Do you have any guide to enter EDL mode? Sorry, I couldn't solve your problem but I believe you tried similar thing that I'll try.

I also have this problem. I flashed china developer rom via EDL mode but no sucess with fingerprint. No other solutions on forum, so i think it must be hardware problem. I asked for repair price, but it's too much, around 200 euros because sensor is glued to the screen so i would have to change fingerprint sensor and lcd screen.

did you try "fastboot oem edl"?
Wait, how? You said it's not working at all. Did you do something and damage to the phone? Shouldn't they RMA it? In my country, there is no official distributor for Xiaomi. Importer guy (very big firm, but again, it's not the distributor) exists and shouldn't they repair the phone? Because, I couldn't manage to enter EDL mode no matter how hard I tried, and it(the issue) happened out of blue. I didn't drop the phone even once and used all the time with case and screen protector.

My phone is in hard case and with tempered glass. I dropped it few times but i think it isn't something that would damage fingerprint sensor. When i didn't use phone it would vibrate every once and while like when someone else try to unlock your phone with his fingerprint. I thought it was firmware problem and it will disapear with new firmware/rom because i changed roms very often. But it didn't, tried different firmwares and roms. After some time it stopped working at all and i couldn't add new fingerprint.
In my country there is no official distributor and i bought my phone via oppomart.com. It was year ago (they offer 1 year warranty), i'll try to RMA it, but i don't think it will accept it.
When i was buying new phone i couldn't decide between mi5 and mi5s. I bought mi5S because of newer camera sensor and ultrasonic fingerprint, but it was dumb mistake. This ultrasonic fingerprint is crap, xiaomi redmi 3s (my dad has it) has better unlocking time and it's 100$ phone. So i think i'll skip future xiaomi "flagship" phones like this.
Sorry to hear that . I didn't try different ROMs and firmware, it is stock as it came out from the factory. Mine is 3months old, I'll try to RMA but phone's box is not with me. Hopefully, they accept that. And hopefully, guys in your country solve your issue too.

Try to flash latest china developer rom via EDL or you can try this method: http://en.miui.com/thread-478922-1-1.html
I managed to get in EDL mode, flashed Chinese Developer ROM. At the first hour I didn't see any issue about fingerprint, but now, it has the same issue. I'll probably call "RMA guys".

The decive is only recognized as qhsusb_bulk. And I never messed around with any custom roms or rooting. The power went off suddenly and couldn't turn it back on. Please help!!!!
If you were not doing any sort of modification, it sounds like a hardware failure. Get a warranty replacement if you can.

Nope the battery didn't run out. It was about 80% left. And above of all, I was in the meeting at that morning and i put down the phone in silent. After that, i couldn't be able to double tap anymore then I tried power button at the back. I even try plugging the charger in and pressed the power button. Tried to factory reset it. And tried using different adapter and cable. The led light didn't even turn on. But when i plugged in to my laptop, i hear the noti sound and it shows qshusb_bulk in the device manager. I think it's on qualcomm mode. I saw some posts about unbricking g3 which is on qualcomm mode but no luck for G4.

It must be hardware failure but I don't have warranty. See the thing is I'm in Myanmar. The authorized distributor only sells dual sims model. But i never planned to use dual sims ones. So i tried to get the single sim version from singapore and the warranty from that country doesn't really seem to be able help.

That error means the bootloader is corrupted. No way to fix it currently without the right software and LG proprietary firmware. Not available anywhere I looked for the G4 (for the lay person at least). Since you weren't tinkering with it, could also mean the memory is bad.
Call LG.
Ask on lgviet.com there are guys that can repair a dead boot. One even wrote here I dunno if it was Manhit or else. They are in Vietnam, not too distant for you maybe
Edit it's @vn_mobile
I had one do the same thing. Warrantied it.

Contact the seller and ask if they can help. it would mean you send it to them, they sent it over to the service center and when its fixed return it back to you. you will be spending for postage. there is a warranty but its in singapore.
unless you can figure out a way to repair it locally.

that's the other thing, how often have you found memory to go bad.
am sceptical about hardware failure.

Agree, quite rare, but it does happen. On my original Galaxy Nexus, the CPU just crapped out and died one day. That was the repair facility's assessment.
Flash memory specifically, not so much.
Hi there,
I recently purchased a zenfone 2 from ebay (I believe it to be the Z00A, 4GB model).
It had some issues, such as the touchscreen not working, but the phone is in generally flawless condition.
I was able to get it to boot up (seller said it wouldn't boot), used USB OTG keyboard and mouse to do initial "Welcome" setup.
Connected it to my wifi, and it asks me to login to the previously used google account. I obviously can't do that.
Am I boned? I want to send it in to ASUS for repair, but I don't know what would happen in this scenario.
I'm thinking I should just file a paypal chargeback on the device.
Boot into fastboot, unlock the bootloader, and then re flash the original bootloader. Or see if you can factory reset via the recovery options.

I was able to get in. Now, any ideas why the touchscreen won't work? The screen is not cracked or damaged in any way.
You can try to get it repaired by asus. If you need to try and reflash the firmware, I think it should take an OTG mouse.

I am going to try their advanced repair service. Hopefully this will work out, because I was really excited to get this phone working myself, I was even going to consider trying to replace the LCD/Touchpanel myself, but if asus will fix it, then that would be even better.
My Zenfone was recently stolen, it's a chance in a million but if you did find it please report the guy who sold it to you to the police. You know it's mine if you take the back cover off and all the screws but the void one are missing. I did that intentionally in case something like this happened. Reply here if those screws are missing. If not, guess it wasn't mine.

Hi there,
A few days ago my fingerprint scanner just stopt working.
So does anyone know what is going on and if I can repare this problem easily?
*#*#64663#*#* use this code to test the fingerprint hardware.
Input it in the dial in the phone app.
I had the same issue for quite awhile, a factory reset seemed to have sorted the issue but it started to be hit and miss again not long after. I've replaced it with the X3 Pro now so don't know if it's returned full time.
Oh, maybe just take it in for repair and see what their opinion on it is.
Is actually very easy to replace the FP scanber in this device and AliExpress has the part for sale
Best get it repaired at an authorized dealer....
Unless getting fake stuff from aliexpress :/
Please help me to solve this issue.
Try this step again, Go to Settings > About Phone > All specs, tap kernel version many times, test fingerprint sensor. Visit the service center if the test fails or install android 11 new version.
I'm sure this is a software problem. I've never been this careful with a phone in my life and I also have the same problem. Unless the update somehow tucked with the motherboard idk. But my best option is to wait for another update to roll out

I bought this phone and after some months i faced this stupid issue too. I've been very careful but had to send the phone to a service center. They said that they changed the fingerptint sensor. Since then no more fingerprint issues...
Same thing with me, it was hardware. After only 6 months of use, I had to send it to a repair service under warranty. So far I had no issues with the sensor.
same here, fingerprint sensor is missing from menus. I will send it to a repair service.
Well it seems the only solution is to send to repair and i think warranty will cover that.. Seems like factory problem :/
But I don't care anymore, since if i send it, it would take maybe 1-2 months, so during that period i would be without phone..
Possible fingerprint sensor flex cable damage. Try restarting your phone while gently pressing around finger print sensor.
this is not a software issiue i have the same issiue and i changed the sensor 7 months later it still works great
I was also careful with my phone and after 3 months of buying it, the fingerprint unlock option disappeared. I couldn't find any solution and tried everything I could. In the end, I took it to a repair shop and they told me that the cable connecting the fingerprint sensor to the motherboard was damaged. They said it was due to a design flaw by Xiaomi. I would recommend you doing the same thing if the rest of things dont work.
The same problem started for me. I had used it very carefully until this time. As you mentioned, it seems to be a chronic problem. When I did some research, many people mentioned that it was fixed with a software update. My sensor disappeared a few days after the last security patch. It could be a coincidence, of course. For now, I am waiting for the upcoming MIUI 14 update instead of sending it to any service. I hope it solves the problem or I will probably send it to the service.

Unfortunaly its hardware problem bro. Button needs replacement , and there is no guarantee how much time will work even replaced. I hate to send to official repair shop, as it will takes weeks, and i have no spare phone. So i just use double tap to turn on the screen aswell to turn off the screen on display
..
I'd like to know is there any possibility to check if pixel 6 phone is repaired/refurbished?! I've bought p6 pro today but can't make fingerprint to work (FOTO in attachment). I saw that other people have same problems when phone turns off by self (battery goes to 0% and buy) but after hard restart everything works again...not in my case. Seller told me that his wife used telephone for just few days and decided to stay on iPhone, but I'm start to thinking that I'm scammed; under display on small plastics antenna line I see just a little scratch so I'd like to ask is there a chances that screen is replaced. All other looks like 100% new phone.
Sounds like it may have been opened. During factory assembly it's very unlikely for this to happen.
It may actually be a mark from a plastic pick used to disassemble it and not a scratch.
The display is replaced as are internal components from the front I believe.

Since the OP states that he bought the phone used, it's more likely that the person previously in charge of keeping the phone, damaged it/scratched it. Plastic is ridiculously easy to scratch, even a grain of sand in your pocket can be enough.

If the phone was properly cleaned and re-packaged and not damaged, there is no way for you to find out if you received a refurbished phone (phone that was sent back by the original customer without damage, return window or something). At least not from a "software" perspective. You as a perceptive human can always try to see if there is dust residue, fingerprint signs or anything "physical" like that on the phone/inside the package, but there is not much more than can help you to decide that (except asking Google, you could hit them up with the phone IMEI and tell them that you bought it used and want to know if it ever got officially repaired/replaced, but I have no idea if Google would even bother giving you a decent answer).
Concerning repair (phone being opened by a repair technician to fix stuff inside) - other than physical markers (prying a phone open can cause damage to the chassie), there is not much that you can find out about that. There is no way to get the specific part IDs with software and even if that was possible, it wouldn't help your cause since Google would only use genuine original parts to repair a phone.
Concerning the "plastic under display" part, I do not follow here. What plastic under display? The display is not transparent, you can't see the phones interior through it. Can you make a photo of your observation?

Most likely the battery died resulting in the FP Sensor getting disabled. A Factory reset and/or full flash to latest image should always be done when buying a phone (especially when it's used). This will fix your issue also (using the flash.android.com tool) along with the calibration tool at the bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection -- 99% a factory reset/wipe, flashing to the lastest build and using the fingerprint calibration tool will fix your issue. If not, you can get a replacement by telling google you did all of these things and they'll send you a phone (usually an advanced RMA if you show you've done everything previously mentioned).
The "Flash Tool" will update your Pixel to the latest Android version, along with an option to "Wipe" the device (make sure to hit the edit pencil and pick "Wipe Device" & "flash all partitions" ; if its a VZW model, updating in Android System in settings and factory reset in Recovery will be good enough, along with the calibration tool): flash.android.com/back-to-public
If it was refurbished by Google, you can put your IMEI# in the official Pixel Repair link below, and it will tell you some information (for example if its Unlocked, "Pristine or Refurbished" etc - it's a pretty great way to find out some info about a pixel (didn't know about it until recently). If the screen was replaced by UbreakiFixit for example, it probably won't show up as refurbished. it has to go through Google to probably be changed in the system, but I am just speculating.
Code:
https://store.google.com/repair
@Proday Can you return it? That would be the way I'd go initially. You got sold a phone that is defective hopefully it was through either ebay or Swappa with some guarantees.
At first, thank you all for helping.
@Alekos Last night i did install last (Dec) update with adb fastboot; found it here on xda (because google pull it back from servers) but as i sad, problem is still here/same. From some reason repairmypixel with google doesnt work; I put telephone in right mode, google chrome finds it, but when I start procedure it goes and goes and ~5min later Telefon restarts by self and Im getting disconnect error/try again msg. Ill try this link now to see what happens with imei, thanks one more time.
@bobby janow I've got a bill brom google store, but im going back in my country in a few day and don't have enough time to "play" with warranty procedures
Btw I've made a Foto of "under display scratch" the best I could; for me it is out of mind that someone opened display on anthena line but who knows

I know over the last two months, some others have occasionally checked Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair and found that they hadn't updated it for the Pixel 6/Pro yet, so maybe that's still the case.

Thanks, are you using the OEM USB-C cable? At least half a dozen users in this section didn't have success getting their Pixel 6 Pro working using the factory image zip, but Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair got their phone restored to stock and fixed their issue. It really seems to have been a lifesaver for some.

Ah! Hopefully, you'll have the solution soon.
So, I did all as @Alekos sad in another thread:
edit-- sorry, didn't realize you already posted separately. I commented to your post anyhow.
Did you figure this out yet? I would try wiping the phone, installing the latest build from the flash tool website (specifically this link: flash.android.com/back-to-public), on that page, edit the options for "Wipe" and "Flash all partitions". After it's done, run the Calibration tool (bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection ) - this should work, if not my guess is there's a bigger issue.
Still same problem with fingerprint...now I'm certain that's the hardware problem; or screen is replaced or FP sensor is dead
Anyway, I want to thank you all 9ne more time, I've learned something new yesterday and today!!

That message is so familiar to me and i'm frightening of it
For the last month I've been in possession of 3 (three!) p6p. The 1st one was received from my carrier and it burned out while updating to December software being only 2 weeks old, no sign of life, dead while charging etc.
Google shipped another one stating it is Pristine which means Like New condition. It came in a refurbished white box, much smaller than the original one and there was a tiny dent - almost like yours but located on top of the screen. What is the most important - I was getting that message "Enrollment was not complete..." Flashing at flash.android.com did not solve anything but was successful. Google support representative advised to get into safe mode, try to configure fingerprint again and it didn't work as well. Calibration tool was not offered as an option at all.
Now it's on the way back to google. The 3rd one I'm owning now is a new phone with no issues so far.
So my advice is to return your faulty phone to the seller if you are still able to. Getting a replacement from Google is tricky as you may get another pristine p6p with the same or other issues. Or you are lucky and you will get a good one but it's a lottery anyway. So it's up to you.
Good luck!
@asdor I was with seller right now, he brings me my money back...end of (sad) story There are still good people!
