I just purchased a Galaxy Note 4 N910V that is brand new never modded and I like to install
the best custom ROM available. Can someone please advise what is the best and safest
available without all the Verizon junk and possible security updates?
thank you so much

Hey Guys, there is something I've never been clear about. My Note 2 is an international unlocked version. I'm using it on T-Mobile, will I be able to get the latest OS from T-mobile for my International version? Or, do I need to go to a Samsung website?
I always check the updates and it says I'm up to date, but I really would like 4.2 for mirror display capability. How do people get the latest OS? Like Kit Kat? Do you have to wait for t-mobile? Can you get it else where?
Please advise, thanks!

I think the latest update is on 4.3 because Samsung skipped the 4.2 update due to too many bugs report, and rumors about 4.4 is coming out late March. You can use Odin to update your device to 4.3 or you can go to the international Note 2 and get some custom roms that runs 4.4 kit kat

Latest version is indeed 4.3, rumors of the Tmobile note 4.4 update has been pushed back to April/May, most likely in between then. You can find many stock roms on this site, check out the android develepment section of the forum, you can even find some 4.4 roms if you'd like. Good luck!
So we all know that Samsung is not gunna release the Android L update for note 4 anytime soon, and I'm getting sick of touchwiz already. I mean, no release date and no news for this update, its disappointing. And honestly, I like stock android so much better
So
Is there any kind of rom, or anything I and many other could do to really get stock android on the Sprint Note 4? I'm dying for stock android on my note 4.
Samsung released L to the carriers a while ago. Its the carriers that are holding everything up.
If you are on sprint then just root and do whatever you want to it. Sprint is not locked down like Verizon and ATT.
You may want to check out the Sprint Note 4 forums.
But is there a way where I can get Stock Android on the note 4?

Yes, if you have an unlocked boot-loader with sprint or T-mobile for example, you can install CM12 which is lollipop.

I've seen this, but how does it work? For example, I don't exactly know how it works when it means to install "GApps". Is there a tutorial on Cyanogen 12 that shows how to do all this? And also, how does the nightly system work? Isn't it a lot of work to reflash Cyan 12 every night?
I'm new to the whole Cyanogen mod, so any help will be much appreciated
I would like some clarification on the note 4 SM-910v Developer Edition. It is rooted, TWRP installed, backups made (aboot, and system).
1. Is it safe to flash CM12, Beanstalk, or other custom roms? I have seen them listed for other models of the Note 4 but never the 910v. I assume that is because 90% of Verizon note 4's have locked bootloaders.
2. Is it possible to safely install a Lollipop touchwiz versionn? I know there is a polish and possibly German version out that is 5.0. Also does that give rise to any concern about locking the bootloader?
Your all's help is much appreciated.

1. Yes, you can flash any of the custom ROMs.
2. There are currently no TW Lollipop ROMs for our device.

Thanks for answer.
After years of complaining about touchwiz on other devices, I actually like and use a lot of the note 4 touchwiz features.
I wouldn't want to lose multiwindow or S pen, so touchwiz for me.
Be careful flashing "any" ROM...you may need a different kernel for a foreign or other carrier's build...if it will boot at all. There is a working version of CM12 in the development thread and there are a few other 4.4.4 ROMs there and one FireKat 4.4.4 build specific to Verizon in the T-Mobile dev thread.
fyi i ran cm12 (beanstalk) for a day and it was butter. few issues with data dropping that was why i left but i will try again one day it was sweet

If it is a VZW Note 4 DE that you bought straight from Samsung...the bootloader is unlocked.
Sent from my SM-N910V / VZW Note 4 DE / Factory Bootloader Unlocked / Rooted / Custom Kernel-ed/ TWRP 2.8.5.0.trltevzw

The first step to rooting a device is unlocking the bootloader to allow modified or custom images. Unfortunately, Samsung Snapdragon devices are generally NOT able to be unlocked.
See this guide. If the OEM Unlocking toggle does not appear, your device cannot be unlocked.
