Hello,
I'm a bit lost, here is my problem:
I have an international LG G3, I switched to LineageOS from official ROM 10 days ago. Everything was working fine, until yesterday when at some point, whithout doing anything special, my phone froze as I hit the Home button.
It froze for quite some time, so I removed the battery and now I have the pleasure, each time that I start the phone to see the great LG logo that doesn't move...
My phone isn't root (didn't install the su addon) and though I can boot in TWRP recovery mode, I don't see any file and all my reboot options mention "No OS".
I tried to sideload lineage to flash the new version but it doesn't work, push neither (and I have no SD - it kept unmounting itself).
I tried to connect with LGUP to go stock, but I guess since it's not root, it isn't recognized, and I don't know how to root it as I can't access it.
So here I am, stuck, without much idea of what to do next, I would be thankful if someone knew how to fix this issue one way or the other!
EDIT: Any try to solve the issue failed as I get the same prompt : Failed to mount /xxxx, or : Unable to mount storage.
Thanks in advance!
I had the same situation like you. Your data got corrupted. There's no way to actually restore your files, at least I couldn't do that with help of my mates. All you need to do is eject your SDCard, wipe every partition and:
repeat all steps for /system, /data and /cache - select only one partition, click on Repair or Change File System and these click on Repair File System then Change File System to F2FS and immediately change it back to ext4 and Repair File System once again.
And then wipe every partition once again.
If you need more help, message me on telegram.

Hello and thanks for your message,
I tried your procedure but for each partition, I get a bunch of "Failed to mount", "Unable to wipe", "Unable to repair".
I don't care about the data, all I want is to have my phone running, I tried to "Format Data" within TWRP, doesn't work either.

have you tried restoring to Stock ROM using LG Flash Tool? as far as I know it resets all partitions so that might be the fix for you
please try once again with this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-0-0-t3309475
maybe just try [Change File System] to ext4 again? It helped me with my data corruption

Yes, I tried with LG Flash Tool, it's the same as LGUP, in both case my phone isn't recognized (I can see my phone on my computer but it contains nothing).
I can't install this TWRP, first technique I can't find the file in my folders (though I could push it with adb), second i can't do "su".
(with the current TWRP - 3.1.1.1 - I can't change the file system)
if you have sdcard, you can put the file here and then flash recovery.img via recovery

I could now get adb to push the img on data and sdcard, but when I try to install I can't find any partition and the process fail as no partition is specified.
I did the push in recovery mode and could find the files, but when I reboot in recovery mode again, I can't find them anymore.

I tried again to FLash it with the tool, no success.
In device manager I don't see the phone, all I see on the port COM is : Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3), so I guess that's why it never find the phone, anything I can do ?

Thanks for your help,
I tried the 9008 method but it didn't work, I have now som "Kernel crash" error that I don't know how to fix and the the only thing I can do is to access some sort of Download mode (where my screen is black, not with "Firmware Update" written, so the LG Flash Tool doesn't recognize it to flash a rom).

Now I managed to flash something with this qualcomm utility (firmware files extracted from 30B KDZ, all other from 10 version were not responding) and I can have access to either:
- "Firmware Update" screen in DL mode, though I can't flash any stock ROM I found (I tried several DLL and TOT, I get "Model check fail" or some issue with the LAF: my guess is that it may be due to the fact that the recovery I managed to put is 30B and the the TOT I have is 10B so something doesn't work?);
- and on recovery mode I can access to Fastboot mode, but a not very efficient one as for some reason whenever I give a fastboot command it do much, the command run on the computer, then I get the output ". . ." in the command line, and the terminal stay in this state doing nothing...

From the device manager I either can see my phone as LG phone in DL mode, or just as some unknown device in fastboot mode.

You probably missed some steps, with flashing all the partitions, you must flash them in given order, and you must use the same kdz, 10e...try it again from scratch.
Mine g3 is still fully functional, so it's worth a try.
yeah, my phone did fully recover too. where you did you get your stock files? maybe you downloaded wrong files? I mean they're corrupted or something

Yes I followed the order, and finished with sbl1,
Now I can't do it again, I can't connect with the software as my phone is no longer 9008, so I have no idea what to do

Hi guys,
I've been running custom AOKP rom and decided to return back to stock.
I have the rogers version of the M8, and intended to flash a stock TWRP backup of someone's rogers save.
I made the poor decision of relocking and unlocking the bootloader again, leaving me without a functional OS and with only fastboot and TWRP recovery available to me. As a result, I can't get the rogers backup folder onto my phone ( I don't have a miscro SD), and the only other option I see is to manually push each file in the stock TWRP recovery with ADB to my phone, but I'm horrible with anything that involves command lines.
Any suggestions to get me out of this situation would be great. My end goal is to get the stock ROM / kernel running so I can get OTA's.
Edit: Solved by doing an advanced wipe and format in TWRP, and I flashed a stock Rogers nandroid
Just adb push or adb sideload a stock rooted ROM to your phone. Just a single command line.
If you want OTAs, you will also need stock recovery. But my recommendation is that OTAs have no place on a modded device.

I've tried flashing a ROM and unfortunately I get stuck on the boot animation.
Attempting to wipe my phone through TWRP before the zip install yields a failure:
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount internal storage
Those two lines are repeated a couple times in the error screen.
It looks like I need to flash some form of backup but am not sure which one will hard reset my phone to stock from this scenario.

Select "Mount" in TWRP main screen and make sure data is checked (cache should also e checked by default). If so, and still getting this error, di you by chance try to factory reset in bootloader (not TWRP)?

I flashed dirty unicorns 4.4.4. I had a 2gb SD card which managed to get it to the phone (the 2gb isn't enough to move the system backup).
I can't check Mount in the settings and it remains unchecked, and yes, I did hit the factory reset in the bootloader thinking that it would help me (I assume this was another bad decision).

Yes, that was a bad decision. But probably not one that you could have known about. Doing a factory reset in bootloader on a modded M8 corrupts the internal memory. This is your main problem right there.
If you have a Windows PC, connect the phone, go to Device Manager and find the phone. Then select the option to format the memory.
In the future only do a factory reset within the OS (in Settings) or in recovery, not in bootloader.
If you've gone through this much, I'd highly recommend getting comfy with a few command line commands. These may very well save you some time and additional headache (speaking from experience).
After recently running into issues with my newly purchased Roger's M8, I needed to restore to stock as well. Honestly, I followed these instructions to the T and it got me out scrape-free.
But, note Step #6 may require you to "adb push" your unzipped folder. And that's it.
Once you've ADB'd the massive nandroid backup, you should be out of the woods (in TWRP, Restore, Select the pushed backup file).
Good luck, and as long as you've got recovery/hboot looking back at you, you should be fine.

Device manager does not provide a format option. Perhaps you mean disk manager? If I do format it will I have to somehow reinstall the android system?

I've often read it described as Device Manager. Can't personally say from experience as I've never actually had to do it myself, but seen this described on XDA quite a few times. If the option comes up in Disk Management, that should be fine, too.
Formatting internal storage should not affect the Android OS, as its a separate partition (note how Windows is only reading the internal storage as around 25 GB of the total 32 GB). But you have to re-install a ROM anyway, as you presently do not have one installed.
hi
I have a lg optimus g pro and i rooted it using towelroot and then I installed "LGRecovery_GPRO_GK.apk" to flash the TWRP 2.8.1 recovery, then i wanted to flash CM12. I got this: "error executing updater binary"
I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620733 but not worked.
After that I read a thread here that someone said install older version of TWRP, I wanted to install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455828
Now I just see the TWRP logo and somethings come and phone turns off. And it seems that I don't have any system, so the phone doesn't load. I tried factory reset but not worked.
please help me :crying::crying:
Put your phone in download mode, you can do this by pulling the battery out, putting it back in, keep the phone off, then hold the volume up and down buttons while plugging in the usb, then grab lg flash tools and a .tot file and flash it to your phone, these can be easily found with a quick. Google search, the .tot files are sometimes ziped but they are big, arround 2gb, so you may want to keep the phone off while downloading one, i hope that was clear enough,

The problem is that I got a .tot file, but flash tools just wants a .kdz file which I didn't find.
Also I searched a lot about it. I have win10 64bit, and i don't have usb2 port. but flash tool and b2capp doesn't see my phone because of driver (that can't work on usb3 and win8 and 10. 64bit)
I wanted to install win7 32bit, but it gives me an error regarding UEFI, and if i want to change it, i should wipe all my hard disk

you may want to flash your phone back. so this consist of
1) read up how to access to Temp CWM
2) download and transfer the full rom to your SD card
3) do a wipe all partition and go to advanced setting, wipe cache
4) install zip and choose from external SD, point to that .zip file for the full rom and apply.
5) installation may take 10min or so do not switch it off. after installation you are good as new.
I believe this should solve your problem, normal if things get bricked is due to config file error could be [syntax, corrupted, missing, setting].
Flashing should solve mostly of it unless the file that you previously accessed require root and cwm does not give permission to the file. that is a permanent bricking.
As always, newbie should not try tweaking permission required files, you end up having bricking the device as there might be no solution to recover it due to access rights. ALWAYS have a back up file so you can at least copy the file back and chmod it.

its fine if your phone does not talk to your PC now. copy the firmware to your SD card via other means. [card reader etc]
then try my method of flashing it back to original state, you stated that adb dont work, have you tried the temp CWM method yet?
the main goal is to wipe dalvik cache under advanced menu in CWM, and cache partition and all hard reset.
then you flash back your original file.
hope it works for you.

just figured it out. I need to boot in fastboot so the phone will get recognized. However, the latest build available on the asus website is still 2.17.40.12. I already have the 2.18.40.12 version. just figured it out. I need to boot in fastboot so the phone will get recognized. However, the latest build available on the asus website is still 2.17.40.12. I already have the 2.18.40.12 version. here is the link for stock but pre-rooted img for latest 2.18.40.12 firmware,,make sure to download Z00A firmware if you have ZE551ML device.. and if I was not mistaken, you may choose to FULL UNROOT in SuperSU apps to go back to stock rom..

me too, any idea on how to fix it?
sooty84 said:
you may want to flash your phone back. so this consist of
1) read up how to access to Temp CWM

I'm good with it, simple coding would be great if you have a solution for this
download twrp from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3wzFG_FuEb3UzVKWHJSekZuQTQ/view?usp=sharing
install it via fastboot [fastboot flash recovery twrp-m8eye-2.8.0.3 (1).img] use the command inside the bracket, download this backup from http://1drv.ms/1WkbudN now for the back to work well i suggest that you create a backup of your cache on your sd card so that you can have the correct directories to copy the backup to, usually its TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUR SERIAL NUMBER/BACKUP FILES, if you wish to root flash supersu zip from chainfire,

If it still under warranty then send it in ... this usually means the data partition is corrupted.
If it is unlocked, formatting data partition in TWRP recovery will fix it but this is non-rooted stock device, so the best option is HTC service centre.
I'm installing twrp but whenever i try to boot into twrp all my data is wiped and twrp is unable to mount it
"Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer"
I need to manually change the filesystem and then again change to ext4 for twrp to mount data.
Main issue is i want to use snapchat and for that i need to boot into OS, login into snapchat and then root in twrp
but again as soon as i boot into twrp my data partition is not mountable. I have flashed no_encrypt_no_verity.dm_ashyx to disable dm-verity.
Flashed various twrp version from 3.0 to 3.2
Also did a clean OS flash from odin but still no luck.
Any suggestion and help will be appreciated.

As soon as i boot in twrp, data is not mountable. So I then go to
wipe-->adv wipe-->(select data partition)repair or change partition-->change partition format-->fat
TWRP then wipes it to fat filesytem, then i change it to ext4 (which is readable by OS)
then only data partition is mounted.
Afterwards I flash no-verity-no-encryption_ashyx and RMM patch
Boots normal to OS
Again boot to twrp i get error unable to mount /data
I had this issue in nougat but it used to happen only once. After flashing patch i used to not get this error repeated

Which twrp version are you using?
Try...
The universal "no verity opt encrypt".
Magisk for the above, or safetynet evasion.
Backing up snapchat in /data/data/ and /sdcard/Android/data/, and load the backup. By PC or external sdcard, or load the backup later.

Tried the universal version for samsung and applied RMM patch, unfortunately same issue again.
I think that this has to do with SEpolicy. In nougat i used to get a small red warning at the edge of screen while booting to twrp. That time i did not face this
issue. Now I dont get any warning..boots into twrp with data partition corrupted.
I dont know, ive tried everything possible but no luck.
This is how I did and it works on my A320FL:
1. I installed Ashyx's version of TWRP via odin.
2. Boot into TWRP and "Format Data" from "Wipe" menu.
3. Flash SuperSu.
4. Flash Ashyx's patch.
5. Reboot phone(into recovery again).
6. Update TWRP with McFy's version.

So I think is something concerning the MM firmware that was not fixed with the N and O updates, 'cause I bought it very close to his launch too. I solved it by flashing a custom rom, so I think the problem was in official MM firmware or something went wrong in the OTA updates

At this point the only advice I can give you is to do a full wipe including "Internal Storage" (if you didn't) before flashing with Odin.
I really don't guess it will solve the problem on an official firmware, but there's no harm in trying

No matter what you try at this point you're data will always encrypt and will need to be formatted. TWRP will always reset.
This requires a whole different route and needs you to edit system files.
I'll get back to you with details.

This method requires intermediate knowledge of Windows and CMD commands....I've tried to simplify it and hope it is easy enough to go through
The files that need editing are the ramdisk fstab files.
Basically you are going to unpack boot.img, edit the files and repack it.
Here's how you do it:
In windows...From the firmware, open the AP file with WinRAR. Extract boot.img.lz4 and save it to your desktop
Go here https://github.com/lz4/lz4/releases/download/v1.8.2/lz4_v1_8_2_win64.zip
Extract it then just place your boot.img.lz4 to directory of lz4
Next open up cmd as admin and cd to the location where lz4.exe is located
In cmd type lz4.exe boot.img.lz4
This will unpack the lz4 file.
Now download http://www.mediafire.com/file/93a3f4bikaxh6tj/MTK_Extractor_V2.6.3.zip
Just open exe go to boot tab select the unpacked boot.img
This will extract the files you need and it will create folder called "initrd" and it will contain the contents of boot.img.
Make sure you have Notepad++ installed to edit the files.
Go to the MTK folder where your files have been extracted
Right click Fatah.goldfish and select open with Notepad++
Next find the phrase ",encryptable=userdata"
Delete it
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Back to MTK folder and right click fstab.ranchu. Open with Notepad++
Find the phrase ",quota,forceencrypt=/dev/block/vdd"
Delete it
Find the phrase ",encryptable=userdata"
Delete it
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Back to MTK folder and right click fstab.samsungexynos7880. Open with Notepad++
Find the phrase ",verify"
Delete it
Find the phrase ",forceencrypt=footer,quota"
Delete it.
Close the tab in Notepad++ and click to save
Next, go back to the MTK program and press the repack button
This will create your new boot.img file
Go back to the MTK folder. You should see your old boot.img file saved as "boot-old.img" and your new file as "boot.img"
Install 7-zip
Back to MTK right click your new boot.img. select 7-zip then select "add to archive"
This will open up another window. Simply select "tar" from the dropdown menu for "Archive format"
Press OK
This will create a new file "boot.tar"
Flash this via Odin with phone in Download mode
The boot will now be patched and you can set up TWRP as you need.
This whole process will need repeating if a new AP is flashed
