Patch Safetynet without Magisk? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Does anyone know of a method (flashable zip maybe, but it doesn't have to be) to patch a kernel to pass Safetynet? I know that Magisk does this, but I'd rather not install that.

It is currently not possible. Magisk dev(s) are the only ones that seem to know how to do this. I have been researching this since Android Pay replace Google Wallet and Magisk has been the only way to do it.

Can you just flash a kernel that is already patched?

SuHide

Is anyone using suhide instead of magisk? and if so how is it? is it better than magisk? or does it not work on the 5x, i want to use magisk but i do not want to give up SuperSU so i wanted to know if anyone else is doing this.
thanks.
I'm using it, haven't added anything to it other than default SafetyNet. Android Pay works like a charm. Just keep up with updates to it when safetynet checks get updated.

I have cts false too in Magisk 14th and 29a...
Yeah, it may be possible to fool safetynet into thinking we have a different CTS certified Rom just by tinkering with ro.build.fingerprint
Might let android pay run on V29a
Safetynet works lol. I use android pay and all that just download safetynet fix
What's your setup?
I'm on Freedom rom, Titan kernel and magisk 14 or 13.3 with or without fix. Banking app works but not android pay

The only way I got Freedom to pass SafetyNet was by installing it and leaving every option as close to stock as possible, installing Magisk and the Universal SafetyNet Fix module. Also, don't make any modification to the system partition

Well that's what I've done too. So your CTS profile passes? Are you able to use android pay or at least launch without error?
Are you running Titan kernel?

I'm currently testing a MM rom which I modded myself, but to answer your question: yeah it passed with Titan Kernel. All V29A roms I tried did.
Edit:
Never tried Pay, I live in The Netherlands so never had a use for it

I had the same profile error on my v29a. Is it possible to fix it with any of the proposed solutions ( universal fix or safetynet patch) and still be able to relock Bootloader ?

Certified play store and pass safetynet

Hello guys,
I decided to make this post as I saw a lot of questions about this and as well a zip flashed to make safetynet pass on custom roms.
Well with this one, you will have play store certified as well as pass safetynet and will get no annoying message at the phone starting.
What we will do is change our fingerprint to a certified one. So here it is:
1. You need to be rooted with magisk.
2. You need to have any terminal emulator, you can download any on the play store.
3. Go to downloads on magisk and download the module: "Magiskhide props config", install and reboot.
4. After you had your device rebooted, open terminal emulator and type:
Su
Allow super user.
5. Now type:
Props
A list of options will appear. What we need from the module is choose a certified fingerprint. So we will choose option 1.
After option 1, you need to choose the option with letter "f" which is pick a certified fingerprint.
Then we will have a list of brands, we need to, of course, choose Xiaomi, option 11.
After we pick xiaomi, we need to pick our device, which is vince, XRN5/ XR5P option 16.
Then it will as us twice if we are sure, we type letter "y" twice to confirm and reboot
After rebooting you can see safetynet ctsprofile:true and play store certified.
I have tried in almost all roms around here including the miui ones and always worked flawlessly, hopefully it helps you also.
Any questions, post it here. Remember that you need to press enter after picking any choice.

I'm using Havoc OS (8.1) and whenever I try to check the safenety pass, the magisk closes.

Nope, I have my Bluetooth controller connected with no issues whatsoever. This just makes a change in build.prop that has nothing to do with wireless radios.

Even though fingerprinting with nougat rom is ok, is there any oreo working fingerprint that passes cts?
Question: didnt nougat fingerprint interfere when flashing other general files which checks the android version before flashing?

1. There will not be until Miui 10 with 8.1 Oreo stable version is released. Then I guess module creator will update the fingerprint as it will be certified.
2. No. It does not interfere.
I have a question: I don't like to have my phone rooted. If after following your guide I remove root, will it work?

Well, if you remove root, module will be deactivated. So it won't work then.

Yep
To use the url, copy it, download magisk manager from official magisk thread, then go to the hamburger menu (3 lines), go to settings, then find update channel and press it, press custom, then paste the url in, once done, click done, then go back and install magisk, press download zip only in the pop up, once done, go to twrp, flash the zip from /sdcard/magiskmanager

A12 Working

Installed via OTA. All fine including the following modules: Busybox, MagikHide Props Config, Riru, Systemless Hosts, Universal SafetyNetFix (2.1.1). Rooted with Canary Magisk. Installed same EX Kernel as before. Guineapig work complete.
I just checked and I have the A12 OTA available. I'm still rooted on A11 with similar modules but haven't taken any OTA in years. How did you prepare for the OTA?

What exactly are you trying to do? If you want to get the stock kernel back, just flash the boot.img. As for editing a .sh, it is just a text file. Edit with notepad++ or the like.
