Car see's disabled Message app - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

I use Signal (set as default with all permissions) as my SMS app, Messages and Message+ are disabled, the car connects fine for calls but reads the messages in disabled app not Signal.
I enabled both old apps, deleted all messages and permissions then disabled again, car now shows no messages, but Signal has messages.
Help, it's driving me nuts.

using SMS notifications to activate ActiveSync?

I would like to develop an application which listens for incoming SMS, verify which ones are email notifications and automatically starts Activesync to retrieve emails, synchronize calendar and so on.
Is this feasible?
I have heard that you can't use the sms API as the interface is stolen by the 'phone edition' bit and you have to use the CE MAPI interface instead, working on SMS once they have been stored in the Inbox.
Any experience with this? Code bits?
Thanks, ciao,
Cesare
SMS notifications
You can use the RIL interface to get notification of about anything to do with the GSM part. However, it is not very well documented. If you go to the URL below you'll find a small app that will display notifications for incoming SMS messages and incoming SMS status reports.
However the message part is still encoded! There are some library calls that can decode the message, but I have not yet figured it out.

[Q] SMS and Email messages via Bluetooth?

so, I recently upgraded my personal vehicle and it has bluetooth integration which also includes the ability to read (via the car "voice") SMS and email messages.
When I bring up the phone messages, I see the "title" of an SMS message (not emails but the phone might not have had any fresh emails at the time) but with I try to "read" the SMS message via the BT in the car, it says unable to retrieve the message.
is there a trick to this or do our GNex phones just not support this function.
I'm on Cyanogen 10.1 RC5 and I use Handcent for SMS and K-9 for my email client.
thanks...

Some notifications/alerts not displaying (exchange email)

I think this may have started with Wear 2.0. I have it paired with a galaxys7 edge. My exchange emails (using native samsung email client), don't pop up anymore on my watch. I manually pull up the notification try and they are there, but I don't get any alerts. Any setting I could check? It's not blocked.

Not getting push notifications from GMail

Strange, I am not getting GMail notifications since I have my Pixel 2XL
Messages stops working after few minutes after the screen is off
1. I have tried to reinstall GMail + clean cache/data
2. tried to use Inbox app but same results
3. Other email apps (Edisson Email) works fine with push notifications
4. All other apps using push notifications works like a charm
any sugestions?
Please check whether sync option is enabled.
users & accounts > Automatically sync data > Enable
Checked, done - other Google items like contacts calendars etc are syncing properly
I've had this issue with Gmail for at least 8 years on every phone I've owned. It works when it wants to, that's about all I've learned in that time.
Interesting thing now that I'm using Tesla Unread: Whenever Gmail is not doing it's thing, I will see a badge for unread messages even though there is no notification. Open Gmail, and it shows unread messages in the inbox menu (but not in the box itself). A minute or so after opening the app, it will download the message and give a notification.
I no longer rely on Gmail, because of this. It's been going on for years and many people have had the same issue.

No Fitbit notifications, cannot pair incorrect pin or passcode

The Fitbit device actually syncs with the Android application (i.e. steps and all the data collected is available on the app), but no calls nor messages notification at all.
If I try to send a test notification from the Fitbit app settings, I receive a message like "cannot pair, wrong pin or passcode".
Any ideas?
