Been wondering the same thing. I haven't tried the Z Pen, but it's a bit pricey to take a chance with, even if I plan on trying to get a few years out of this tablet. Did you ever find anything?

That's too bad, but thanks for the quick reply.
Crud...Came hoping to find an answer to this question, too. The z-pen bites completely.
Offset is ridiculous, pressure sensitivity is really shoddy, and actual note taking and or drawing is as bad as if I was using one of those rubber-nubbed capacitive stylii that come bundled free with pretty much everything.
I love the tablet itself, but this stylus is a joke. I just can't afford to throw money at replacements unless I know they work. Almost makes me wish I still had my Note Pro 12.2...

Ya, I paid the high price for the Asus Pen and it broke..
Anyone find an alternative? The pen six for many reasons, including the holding clip is cheap and breaks easily.
I've got a Lenovo Pen for my convertible laptop but I've not tried it on my tablet. To be honest I didn't even think of it until I saw this thread. I'll give it a try because the Lenovo pen is really nice. Should I try and special apps etc? I'm on stock ROM and don't think I'll be rooting this device for a while.

I got the watch the tablet and both are garbage.
I only messed with it for about 10 minutes before I went to my sons basketball game. I'll try again when I have more time to mess with it but I don't think it's going to work. BTW - The Lenovo pen works great on my laptop.

I got a Hype Mini Bluetooth Keyboard for like $9.99. Works fine, but I hardly even use it lol.
Freedom keyboard from Amazon
I had a friend who tried the previously linked keyboard from Amazon and he said it was of poor quality. He said that it felt like real cheap plastic and he broke it within a month. Now mind you I don't know how rough he was being with it, but that was his opinion on it.

I sold my htc amaze a few months ago to buy the n9 and im getting tired of not having any app selections (it was cool at first), and the one x looks pretty sick. found someone on craigslist that is willing to trade but he dropped the phone and the screen doesn't turn on. he has a new digitizer for it but not an LCD. They aren't too expensive on ebay (found one for like $40). he said the phone turns on and everything works (capacitive buttons, sound, etc). The thing im worried about is if it has water damage, is there any way to find out? and if not do you guys think its worth it?
thanks
edit: nevermind did more searching on the water damage indicator and found it. still would like to know your opinions/advice though
A screen repair requires the digitiser and LCD. Just do a search for broken screen threads here.

thanks for your reply. yeah ive watched a few videos on it but since they are selling the LCDs on ebay separated from the digitizer I figured you could replace it itself..
edit: im reading on other threads that they are two separate units? some people are saying they are on unit and others are saying the opposite. starting to wonder if its worth it..

Official ones come as one unit and cost more. It'll cost about 150 UK pounds for official repair. Factor that into your cost, and the fact that it's second hand, and the fact you can't test it properly... Is it worth it? I doubt it, but a working One X is an incredible device.

this is what im looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LCD-DIS...930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c7451912 you don't think this would be real? it also has 30 days money back so if it isn't the real deal..
Don't do it, go for a proper second hand device a fully working one, better to have the original screen as it's a lovely screen.

thank you, ill take your advice. it seems not many people are interested in the n9 as much as I thought they would.
It always feels good to have a new device which is fresh and you are much sure that it doesn't have a defect or something, if you're are looking for some advice, well for me, i will personally tell you that go and just buy a new one ( Fresh like Dougie )

Anyone know of a place to get the digitizer/inner screen for a reasonable price? I have a perfectly functional E4GT that was dropped on the day it was purchased (literally on the way out of the Sprint store) and the inner screen was cracked.
Perfectly functional otherwise, it still boots up and everything, just that the screen is black.
Attached are some pictures so you know what I mean. Thanks in advance for any help

Haven't had to do that *yet* (knock on wood). I wouldn't know where to look. But if you need help after you get it up and running hit me up, this device can be a little confusing at first.... I had to help BigSplit get everything set up.
Will do :good:
We have 3 E4GT in our family and I have replaced 3 screens w/ digitizer so far. It is easy to do, but finding them at a decent price is the hard part. You use to be able to find them for around $50. I just dont see spending $85-$135 when I can do an insurance claim for $100. The next one I do I'm thinking of trying to just replace the glass since the digitizer is fine. Good Luck!

Yup...just trying to fix this up for cheap and have as a backup phone
Everyone in my house recently switched over to the Galaxy Note 2. We love the phones, but for some reason, I got stuck with a defective s-pen.
My stylus doesn't do the same basic functions as the others, such as screen capture, quick commands, etc. On the other hand, it can do things the other pens can't, such as swipe between screens while hovering an inch above the glass and open apps, links, etc. by clicking the pen button while hovering an inch above the glass.
I love the bonus features, but the lack of basic features makes it unusable. After some research, I found all the guides to adjusting the potentiometer. I popped the button off the s-pen to adjust the little screw...and it's not there!
Here's a pic comparing everything: http://imgur.com/a/pm7EE
So...any help? Has anyone run into this before? Is there any way to fix this? I bought the phones used, so maybe this stylus is 3rd party?
I'm guessing that I can't swap this out via warranty now that I popped it open, so any help fixing is much appreciated!
The pens arent locked to a specific device. Try one of the others and see if it gets normal functionality. Otherwise you can buy a new one for 20-30$

I've actually tried all the pens on all the devices. Two of them do all the expected functions, while the one is okay for clicking links and such, but it won't do screen shots, quick command, etc. The thing where I can use it to swipe between screens or click links without even touching the screen is cool, though, so I was hoping I'd be able to get it to work and have the best of both worlds.

Come to think of it it sounds like the tip button is stuck in. Try pushing the tip in on one of the regular ones with a piece of tape or something and ill bet you get the same functionality as the messed up one. So maybe try putting the tip in rubbing alcohol or something to get it unstuck

The tip seems to work fine, and taping in the tips on the others doesn't replicate the issues. For example, taping up the tip on a normal one doesn't make it so that I can swipe pages and open links without even touching the screen. Plus, this still wouldn't explain why the inside components are different.

This here^^^^^^^ 100% correct.
Here's a link to a OEM part from Amazon. If you choose to order from somewhere else. Then just make sure you're receiving original Samsung retail packaging! That way you know it's real

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I haven't seen 3rd party units that are branded as Samsung before, so I was hoping I could figure out a way to keep the extra features and restore the basic functions. Oh well!
Hi everyone. I use my tablet with the stylus to take notes at college. It's been great, with some minor but notable inconveiences about palm rejection being a bit wobbly. Is there any good app to make the tablet stylus only when I decide it? TIA

i am using touchnotes, it is really good in the free version,
it has many features and an one time purchase for the premium features.

thanks for the answers. for taking notes I use Nebo, and it's great, but what I am looking for is not a note taking app, but an app to turn the tablet into an "stylus input only" device, to prevent palm rejection with the stylus being wobbly. Something like that. It's confusing, I know. But thanks anyway
Hey, I tested many apps and I can tell that the best ones are xodo and notewise.
I think that xodo is the best on Android but is damn expensive with their monthly subscription ; fortunately, the free version is more than enough. Notewise is cheap with a one time small payment and has an amazing UI but has less features than xodo. And the free version of notewise is limited to 3 notes so if you're planning to using this one you'll have to pay it.
The one that works best for me was Flexcil, although the free version kinda sucks, the paid version is a beast like no other

try also "MyScript Nebo" it has pencil support
Of course you can go for touchnotes or jnotes, they both have all features you imagine but till now, touchnotes is more stable with stylus pen, and cheap if you want to pay one time.

I don't think is possible what you want,. The pen touch part is the same digitizer for hand touch, yet different parts of the same driver, even you can inhibit the hand touch in the driver by adding a routine to disable at will the hand touch, your hand will still touch the digitizer/screen inducing touch events over the pen input, maybe you should ask Xiaomi MIUI developers to fix their drivers instead of finding a way to workaround that.
