I was trying to shoot some video with the Fire phone today (I'm on 4.6.3). I had about 5 videos recorded, when I ran into an issue where I would hit the button to start recording the video and immediately it would stop (with the counter reading only 1 sec). I tried to switch back to camera and then back to video, as well as exit the app, but the problem persisted. Until I restarted the phone, it kept doing this and apparently recorded none of these 1 sec attempts at video.
I would imagine this kind of quirk (as well as the audio routing problem I've discussed in another thread) would be more likely to occur while using a non-stock ROM. Unless I am experiencing some sort of defective hardware issue, I am rather amazed that these issues would happen with the stock FireOS install. I haven't even used the phone all that much for audio and video. At some point I may be tempted to proceed to install CM11, despite it's quirks just to see if these issues would be remedied, as much as I had not wanted to.
Anyone else experience this type of problem?
Hello all.
This question isn't Pixel-specific (as far as I know) but I wanted to ask it here.
For the last week or so, my Pixel XL will suddenly and loudly play an the audio from what I assume is an advertisement video. If I unlock the phone while it's playing, the audio stops and there's nothing to see (other it it seemingly switching from landscape back to portrait).
I tried to delete all apps I've installed in the last 2 weeks, but it still happens.
Any suggestions on how I can solve this issue?

Try running some of the adware and virus scanners. There are some good ones on the play store now. I would suggest you also look at what services are running. Sounds like it is infected.
I tried running two of the top virus and malware scanners, and nothing was found.
Regarding running services, I don't see anything unusual in the list (from Developer options). But then again, I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Try killing the processes until the audio stops. That should help find out the cause.
Best way to fix would be to do a factory reset.
Sounds like your best bet is a factory reset.
I think it's a Facebook issue. I have same issue only after playing video thru Facebook app.

Can you check logcat logs to see what's doing what?
Is anyone else experiencing video playback in Facebook?
It seems to only happen in the Facebook app and it's extremely annoying.
What's happening is every few seconds video pauses and I have to hit play again to start video, so it's not a buffering issue.
Also sometimes it will skip ahead a few seconds and then back.
My S8 does this. I think it's some sort of glitch in the new Facebook update , or it could be a buffering issue

That happens to me as well on my axon 7
Ok, that makes me feel a little better that it's happening across other devices, because it didn't start for me until I got my 2 xl.
I've got the same issue

Facebook always has issues
happens with me also on my oneplus 3t. its a facebook issue.
Pretty sure this is a Facebook bug. You should inform Facebook about it. Btw i have it on my note 4
Same here
Also happening to me. I should have figured that it was a Facebook issue. But I also have an issue where youtube kept minimizing the video. I ultimately just disabled the functionality for youtube to minimize videos to stop it.
Its been a long time since I have posted something on this site. Got myself a RM 5G, its been great so far. Noticed as of late when I am gaming or watching a video of any type youtube, netflix, facebook etc it will freeze for anywhere up to 3 seconds then continue playing.
It might not sound like its a big deal or anything, more annoying if anything. I have replicated this on lte and wifi in multiple locations. First i thought it may of been the android system viewer thing that was happening recently but I dont think it is now. Considering a factory reset to see if this works out.
Non rooted device, just seeing if anyone else has experienced this with there RM's? If so what did you do to fix the issue?
I have a section in this video that I was recording start the video from minute 18:40 and you will notice the lag to illustrate what I am explaining. This would happen while watching videos.
Cheers in advance.
Hi, anyone has this issue with pixel 6 pro. It only happens on video from YouTube and very intermittent. Does not happen to the same video. Have not seen it in full screen or on other apps. Very strange bug or is it hardware issue in which case I should get a replacement

I'd suggest to use safemode and see if it still pops up then, in that case I'd contact Google. Of course you could always try a factory reset, but that's a heckload of trouble and wasted hours...

The hard part is that it happens only once a day or so that I struggle to capture it. So I'd probably have to run on safe mode for a long while, I'll see if I can get Google to replace. Cheers
I've never had that, I'd RMA that if I were you!

I definitely had that happen last week when I was watching Youtube! This was after a factory reset too so I wasn't sure what was happening. Same exact thing, lines flashed across the screen just like yours. I have not seen it happen since or perhaps I haven't been watching enough videos on the phone since.
Have you contacted support, and what did they say? I'm kind of scared to contact them with all the outsourcing now and other stories I've been seeing about them not being as helpful as they used to be.

I'm not sure but am wondering the same thing. I was not able to get a hold of Google support but will try after the new year. If the OP can see it happening randomly I bet it is happening randomly for us too but we haven't caught it again. It looks like those old CRT TV's. I unfortunately was not able to get screen recorder open in time to capture when it was happening.

There is no need to record your screen. you can send google the op recording
I hope google will fix this phone.. I guess that is what you get for being a Tensor early adopter.
I just had this happen too for the first time, happened to quickly to get any recording of it. Also on YouTube as I was adding a video to my watch later. Are you using Vanced by any chance? Maybe it's just the software glitch with that?! Hope there's no hardware fault going on here...

I am using the regular Youtube app since I pay for premium. I don't think its related to any app as the OP said it also happened on other videos.
Also have this happen to me somewhat often (once or twice a day), but it's only ever in the youtube app. I'm using the YouTube vanced app and It's never happened in any other app.

Interesting.....let's hope a fix is on it's way at some point...
Have you guys noticed a graphical glitch in Google photos? When in landscape and the video is paused and you scroll up from the bottom of the screen for your settings, a glitch appears!
It was first mentioned in Reddit.
I've had the same thing, but it appears at the bottom of the screen (it's happened a few times, maybe 5 or 6) - and for mine it was about an inch high. It was really odd - never seen a glitch like that before. usually you can tell if it's the display or software but this was very similar to op's - and it stayed for like 10 seconds. using Brave Browser, not watching a video (pixel 6 pro on december build)
YES YES YES! Thank you for the post, OP!
This wasn't an issue till about five days ago and it only occurs in the YouTube application! It's difficult to reproduce, but usually having a video running, opening the comments section then successively minimizing and maximizing the video (in Portrait mode) can trigger this error.
I suspect it has something to do with a change in refresh rate, since this particular change causes just that.
It's not annoying to the point I have considered turning the phone back, but it's mildly concerning especially since the first time it occurs, you're unsure whether it's a hardware or software issue.
Same here with YouTube Vanced in the exact same Spot, never seen in another app
Try newpipe instead. Hint: no ads
