I originally upgraded to the custom Freedom rom which is based on the stock H815 7.0 from stock marshmallow 20v. I had problems so I clean flashed the same developer's Despacito rom, also based on H815 stock 7.0. The problems persisted so I clean flashed LOS 14.1.
I would prefer to downgrade back to 20v but I'm confused about whether arb issues affect this scenario.
Update: I took a chance on downgrading since I couldn't live with the radio issues on the unofficial Nougat roms. Flashed a zipped stock official T-Mobile 20v and so far no problems. I'd still like to know why this worked but "rolling back" bricks the G4 on "official" stock.

Thanks for the arb specifics. Good to make a note of.
After I successfully downgraded to 20v stock I heard from the developer of the custom stock ROMs I'd had problems with. Turns out he (wisely) uses the 20v baseband and bootloader along with stock 7.0 ported from the H815. I would have relaxed more if I'd known that from the beginning. It's my understanding that developers who base their ROMs on Legacy or AOSP *do not* usually replace the baseband and bootloader when they flash a later version so that it is safe to drop back (within the type of parameters you describe above). I guess he followed that model.
It's always something.

actually we use korean port not h815 we tried and it gives lots of error and FC. i think h815 does flash bootloader.. us we didnt get any beta we use korean KDZ edited to work on h811 volte is missing 4G icon is missing at least on my end it is. and h815 had a beta wich is better then use korean port.
what issues were you facing.? am using h811 port because despacito has black on black text if you use dark theme.

The developer of Despacito, etc. contacted me and confirmed that he uses the Marshmallow radio and bootloader so that is why I was able to go back to H811 6.0 20v. I had intermittent issues with the sd card not being recognized and forcing a re-format.

You can do that by rooting the stock ROM and installing twrp manager from the play store. Just saying.

Bump is a hack that bypasses LG security on boot checks. I came from the Verizon G2 that needed it. I forgot that T-Mobile don't lock their devices down like all other carriers.
I also recently bought a LG G Pad 8 inch that locked was locked down. Not even on any carrier but was locked down. Couldn't even get TWRP on it due to this.

A simple misunderstanding. Im sure the others with locked bootloaders would love this tool. and its good that you would do one for them....

T-Mobile locks down some of their devices. The g3 is lucky enough not needing it. That's why the d851 had ROMs first. Anyways, its easier to just use the one click root method and either use twrp manager or flashify to get twrp on your phone.

Guess it just makes T-Mobile that much better than the competition as being the "UnCarrier"! I was with Verizon for years and got tired of their outrages pricing and lockdowns. Plus, having unlimited data is what finally got me back to TMO.

Or you can go with a nexus device. Its unlocked no matter where you go.
Just added tool for KK 10R.
I have a D851 on the stock, rooted Lollipop ROM. I want to install TWRP but before I do anything, I just wanna make sure I'll still be able to boot back into the stock ROM after installing the recovery using this tool. (Someone reported on another forum that he installed TWRP using bump, but couldn't boot back into the stock ROM.)

If your on stock LP then choose the 20b version for twrp. Your booting will work fine. Thats what this is for.
Tmobile LG G3 Android 4.4.2 not working!
I have tried and seems someone has not posted a good instructions on how to root access this device I have been reading the forms I am more confused now then before I even thought about rooting this unit... maybe I might need to pass on this phone.. because I don't feel like spending all day getting this to operate correct the instructions would really help starting from the beginning as to which method is best and where to find the links these posts are like a one thing and then just goes into a different subject.

I like your style.
My question is, does it matter what bootloader version you are on for a custom rom?
Far as if I am on MM Rom (Jasmine 6/7), do I need to be on MM bootloader version or LL bootloader for LL Rom? I know I need to be MM bootloader to even be on MM ROM, but do you understand what I am asking? Do I need to be on LL bootloader for LL ROM and MM bootloader for MM ROM?
Can I be on MM bootloader and have LL ROM?
The reason I ask is I am on the MM bootloader and have Jasmine v7 installed and my camera works just fine. But I want to go back to Jasmine 4.3 (LL), but when I install it again on MM bootloader, the camera is blurry.
The only way to fix the blurry camera is to install official firmware or MM rom such as Jasmine 6/7, or even official LL firmware.
I have no problem starting the whole process of unlocking the nite 4 since I've already done it a dozen times now. But while at work was wondering if anybody had an answer other then what I am doing.

If you're on a Marshmallow bootloader you can only use ROMs that are based on the Marshmallow bootloader. Jasmine 6.0 and up are examples of such ROMs. Paul Pizz and CM13 from 6/22 up are too. (Yeah, I know, so is the 6/20 version but that was so buggy that I don't even count it.)
Jasmine 4.3 and below were based on Lollipop bootloaders and need a Lollipop bootloader to work properly.
Yeah, the ROMs may partially work if you cross them up. But they won't be usable, with the big problem being data and the lack of.

Thank you, thought that was the case.
Hey guys, My dad is willing to update his LG G4'S version (Currently running Lollipop), I do understand a thing or two in rooting, custom roms and recoverys , however, I own a galaxy s6 - it has no AOSP Roms, only stock based. and my father is used to his phone as it is, I don't think flashing cyanogenmod will be a good idea, he likes the functions LG added and stuff like that( Yeah, I don't understand it too ). Are there any good MM stock based roms?
Thanks and sorry for my English
Cant u just ota official mm?
If not, what variant does he have? not all roms can be flashed.

Sorry for not mentioning - H815, Also, what is the newest official MM version (carrier-free)? I don't have any OTA's in my place currently unfortunately.
I use the stock MM ROM ver 20D listed in Android Development section, and it is lightning fast and smooth!

Well good news, you got the bootloader unlockable variant!
To be honest anything with H815 in it is what you can do.
You can flash stock MM (I'd reccomend v20h its located in the general section)
You can flash cm13,
Be free little birdy!
I know this forum is not specifically for tmobile lg g4
Can i flash any lg g4 811 rom to my tmobile lg g4 811 20v marshmallow phone?
Does the custom rom have to be 20v? Can it be nougat?
I'm not completely certain, but as far as I know can any H811 rom be flashed on any H811 device. Even nougat roms. I'll say it again just in case: I am not sure, I have 0 experience with non-h815 devices

yes you can. if its says stock based means its stock with some goodies if its says LAOS lienage OS or AOSP this are not stock and not from LG itself.
so we only have stock MM rom. if you want nougatyou need aosp or lineage.
have in mind that picture quality is not the same on aosp or lineage roms.
as for 0-p-q-r -v. yes you can .. but best its to stay uptodate.. but if you go with O then i think some kernels had sound problems rom and kernele had to be on same version.
Thank you sir for your reply.
Now if you could recommend a a great rom for battery life and dark theme
Not really a fan of stock rom.... if were talking about lgs icons layout etc...
Would loose picture quality to get rid of this lg theme for better battery and dark ui
I am rooted and have twrp just have not flashed custom rom yet
Was wondering if I flash a 5.1 rom with an untouched stock lollipop boot image onto my G4 what the outcome would be?
Is there any lollipop custom rom that this would work with? I have tried this on my locked lg g4 BTW and no dice

1)
The 5.1 Rom is the stockrom for the G4 Series came out in 2015.
You can flash a 5.1 and it will be run, why not? But MM (6.0) is more G4 friendly, works more fluid...
2)
The only thing you must looking for is the correkt Modell, H815-H818 and so on....
What Android is on the G4 now and what is locked on it? The Bootloader or have a Provider Lock..?

It's a H815T with a locked bootloader and I root all my devices
I was hoping that imperium or some other stockbased rom with notable differences would have released a 5.1 version, but I think they started on MM. I actually tried to flash cm12.1 then my stock boot image lol. Had to wipe and restore plain old Genisys rom
It's network unlocked and I use Twrpinfish by @steadfasterX
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/locked-twrpinfish-locked-g4-devices-t3573048
My wish is at least to have a more 'stock android' ui and ability to theme (cmte, etc)
If I could boot a cm12.1 rom it would awesome :highfive:
