Would not flashing the CSC mean that I have a stock ROM without any AT&T bloatware on the phone? Or am I completely misunderstanding the importance of the CSC file?
I live outside the US and so I don't need anything specific for AT&T on my S7 Active.
EDIT: To clarify, I would be flashing the AP, BL and CP files through Odin, downloaded from this post because I can't get OTA updates outside of the USA.

My best guess is that at worst you'd make the phone not bootable and you'd need to reflash with Odin and at best your phone would work but with the previous CSC image. It already has one in it and it won't go away so by not flashing you're just leaving the older one in place. I don't think there's any possible gain for you by not flashing it.
I didn't flash the BL file and now my phone says no sim card inserted what should i do?
Hello,
I am trying to flash the newest XEF (France) SM-T830 firmware to by XEZ (Czech Republic) Tab S4 SM-T830 device, and I need a specific, fool-prood advice on how to configure the ODIN. I have done the following so far:
- Downloaded the firmware via Frija, the filename is SM-T830_1_20190409132827_lu4c5n9rxi_fac.zip
- Downloaded the latest unmodded Odin (v. 3.13.2), if I need other version, please advice which one.
- Unpacked the firmware zip archive, it contains the following four files:
AP_T830XXU2BSD1_CL15659493_QB23022378_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS9.tar.md5
BL_T830XXU2BSD1_CL15659493_QB23022378_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_OMC_OXM_T830OXM2BSD1_CL15659493_QB23022378_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_T830OXM2BSD1_CL15659493_QB23022378_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
The default enabled options enabled in Odin are: Autoreboot and F. Reset Time, default disabled Odin options are Nand Erase, Repartition, Flashlock (DeviceInfo is greyed out).
My questions are:
1) What files go to which ODIN config fields (BL, AP, CP, CSC, USERDATA)? BL and AP are obvious, but the rest is not.
2) Which options should be enabled and which disabled? Is it okay to leave the default ones as described above?
3) Is there anything I should know or be wary of before starting the process?
Thank you for any relevant information in advance. Please don't bother with lectures or insults, I am interested only in constructive, helpful advice that will safely guide me through the process. I am not aspiring to be an Android hacker, I just want to flash this one firmware one time.

Leave odin settings how they are. AP to AP BL to BL CP is not needed it's for LTE models and CSC will wipe your device HOME CSC will keep the data.
Thank you very much, the update process was successful.
Hi does anyone know how to download android 9 firmware without gettting crc error? No matter if i download it with frija or samfirm, in both cases it gets deleted after crc dosent check out. Please could someone upload the intact firmware file to mega or google drive? Thank you
I can’t seem to get it to flash, either with frija download or sammobile. Both fail to flash in the modded Odin on my USA tab s4

I used frija download and then unzipped it, only used ap, bl, csc (home csc may be used to keep data, but I always start fresh) and then I let the patched Odin do its thing walked away 10 minutes later

I used Frija to download and had no issues. Don't use a modded Odin i used the regular 3.13.1 and it worked the first time.
I used 3.13.3 and it worked perfect the first time.
Hi, I'm no stranger to flashing custom ROMs on Samsung's. Been doing it to s3, s4, s7 and the s8 amongst having a plethora of nexus phones that went back and forth with Android pure or Los.
I plan on upgrading the software on my t805w to marshmallow since never received the update ota.
I also would like to install the UK BTU image as its my go to for stock firmware. Also I don't want to erase the data already on the tablet so I'm guessing in going to be using the home CSC.
Would someone please list what I need to flash so I can install the latest Canadian BL, Modem and then the right version of the UK android image without wiping my data.
I hope this would also remove any stock bloatware left over from the carrier on 5.0.2.
If this proves a pain to wipe without clearing data then I'll guess I'll go down the route of twrp and BTU flash then magisk to debloat BTU further with Titanium backup
Cheers
So I have a SM-N975U1 (unlocked) from samsung. I want to install the stock Verizon firmware (VZW) on the phone. I downloaded the following https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g.../SM-N975U1/VZW/download/N975U1UEU1ASH4/286268
I installed the VZW firmware via Odin but oddly enough its still the XAA firmware. Not the stock VZW firmware I want. I want the full stock firmware. Verizon 4g icons, Bloat and all. Do I have to change the CSC on these newer models? Haven't done this since my note 8. I thought these stock firmwares were interchangeable? What did I do wrong?
Advice?
You have to download the verizon U version not the U1, I tried to do it and got stock on the activation screen
I see my mistake. Working flawlessly now!

The steps are the same as the S8, Note 8, S9, Note 9, S10.
Use Samfirm tool to download the latest firmware files. You need to use model SM-N975U and region code is VZW for Verizon.
Then use patched ODIN 3.13.1_3b to install.
All other instructions can found by searching the Note 9 forums.

Ten minutes is a little long. It sometimes locks up. Reset and close out ODIN. Then set it back up. Do a factory reset from recovery mode and then immediately go to download mode and hit start.

I am not sure what a "Patched" oden others mentioned even is. I do not think I used that. I used SamFirm to download EVERYTHING I needed file wise. As for Odin. I got it from here https://odindownload.com/
I used these Settings in SamFirm
Model: SM-N975U (even though I am on the U1)
Region: VZW
Manual Box Checked
PDA: N975USQU1ASH4
CSC: N975UOYN1ASH4
Phone: N975USQU1ASH4
Make sure you use CSC file. Not Home CSC. Also install UserData. Then you should be all set :good:

Do you know does the unlocked version on Verizon work with sms over wifi? I'm not guessing it doesn't since my Pixel worked flawlessly at my desk in the basement at work. I assume I would need to flash the Verizon firmware as you have?
So I'm trying to decide which version on the 10+ to buy. Will I lose any features if I flashed a Verizon rom onto an unlocked 10+ ? Are there any benefits to having the unlocked vs carrier device? Thanks

And no, patched ODIN is not necessary when flashing carrier firmware, although it is necessary when flashing back to the U1 Firmware. I just use it for everything as it seems to cause less issues.
Hi, I have completed the following steps numerous times. I first wiped data and cache then installing the u1 firmware. My note 10 plus sm-nn975u was originally T-Mobile. I had placed a Spectrum sim inside before the flash. Once on U1 spectrum Charter APN settings show up and all works fine. However I wanted to flash to the CHA OR Charter Spectrum firmware. I wiped data and cache and flash. My phone then comes up with T-mobile start screen and bloat. Are the Charter files on Sam fakes or am I missing something. I am totally blind, so when the phone boots after flash it doesn't say its rebooting to apply carrier settings, it just boots on up to setup screen where I turn on voice for the blind and begin setting up. I even tried to reboot after flash with no sim and it says please insert sim but no reboot or prompt to reboot after sim installation.
I am using odin 3.13.1_3B. Please help.

Verizon s10+ 5g to unlocked s10+
I have the Verizon n976v note 10+ 5g. I’m looking to put the unlocked firmware on it. I get an error (failed) with modified Odin. Is there an extra step?

i have the same device.. the N976V is verizon note 10 plus 5g.. its not the same as the U1 variants.. i assume the fail is a secure check fail? thats bcuz the U1 is signed with different keys..
so far all the 5g devices have been carrier specific models and firmware is not interchangeable between them
There is no SM-N975U in the list or when i type it in?

There's no links to Samfirm. The SamFirm tool is a Windows application you download and install to download full firmware files to your computer.
N975U is 100% available on the SamFirm tool.

+1 for me. Ive spent almost 2 years and 3 phones trying to get an answer to this. My note 8 had this problem, then my note 10+, then the replacement note 10+. At&t blames Samsung, then Samsung blames at&t, over and over and over. I even had a Samsung technician sit in on a 3 way call with an at&t technician for the better part of an hour. The last I heard was that at&t was petitioning samsung to fix something on their end because at&t shows that everything is up to date on my phone but its not. Im looking into Odin too because this is getting stupid.
At&t is horrible with OTA's. They work for some but for a lot of people it does not, and I am one of them. At&t has never been able to give me an answer as to why this happened on my Note 8..9..and 10+.
Odin is very easy. You dont have to use At&t firmware you can use any Snapdragon US firmware they are the same. Once its installed, it will provision to you sim. There are many threads that have the firmware needed or just us Frija to download the firmware. Once downloaded you need to extract the files. You will have BL..AP..CP..CSC...HOME_csc. You need to download the correct version of Odin to flash the firmware. Open Odin put device in download mode connect device. Once odin recognizes devices find where you extracted the firmware. In odin put BL in BL spot..AP in AP spot..CP in Cp spot. If you want to save data, put HOME_csc in CSC spot. If you want clean install put CSC in CSC spot as it will wipe device. Once you have everything where it should be click start and Odin will flash the firmware. Once complete Odin will say PASS at top left..boot time should take a few minutes. But remember if the firmware you flash has a higher bootloader you cant downgrade back to previous version.

So I can use a verizon csc and it will work on a att branded phone? Or is a generic one better?
Edit
Basically which one do you pick. I'm leaning towards a tmobile because it sounds like the included bloatware is smaller.
I have At&t device purchased at At&t. I have used USC..Tmobile..Verizon. The device will provision to your sim. If you dont want bloat just flash U1 firmware. But I think you will lose advanced features like wifi calling if you do. I cant remember if flashing a (U) csc with U1 firmware brings back advanced features. But prob just stick with 1 firmware until you have a understanding on how to do this...Good luck.

I actually went ahead and did this last night with the tmobile firmware and it was just as easy as you said. For whatever reason I didn't even get any bloatware. It booted up with the at&t logo and sound, and my software version says att/att/att. I put my sim card back in and there were no special notifications or anything, everything just worked. I wonder if Frija gave me the att firmware despite me putting in tmb? Either way, everything is up to day now. Thanks for the help!
Anytime my friend glad it all worked out[emoji106]

Hi I have the same problem. I flashed android 10 One UI 2.0 on my Exynos Note10+ SM-N975F last December via Odin and download the firmware from Samfrew(like Sammobile).(the firmware is the German version and I bought my phone from Egypt) Since then I didn't receive any security patch updates I only have the December 2019 one. Will it be safe if I download the latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it; the file in over 5GB , can this overwrite? I never tried to flash the same software two times. Is it safe?
As long as you are using the firmware that is for your device and your region you should be fine. Although this is Snapdragon thread I would think International flashing is same. You may want to double check in your device specific thread as I don't want to be the blame if there is something different with F version.

Also try turning off auto update date and time. Set date like 5days ahead. Then check for update. Sometimes this little trick works for OTA
