I am currently using Le Eco Pro 3 from China. Have had it for one year running Nova Launcher over 6.01. Using Tmobile in SF. Le Eco is out of business in US, so looking for new alternatives.
BTW, very happy with the Pro 3. Bought it new last Black Friday for $249, quite the deal. Great inner equipment, and Nova has been great. Especially, when I was able to use previous backup to install my desktop on Pro 3.
My question is whether it would better to use OP Oxygen or go to Nova? Assume there are Nova OP users. Is it better to stick with OP or go to Nova? Any performance differences?
Really intrigued by OP5T.
It's only a launcher. You can use nova in every android phone
Nova launcher has many more options than the stock one.
I think the comparison would be more equal in Oreo. Hopefully. I love the Oreo notifications. Also long press shortcuts are much better. This needs to be implemented into Oreo OnePlus launcher. If not I'll stick to the Nova beta.

Thanks. Love Nova and be nice to use features with Oreo.

Nova is unbeatable
Using Nova from years
Best purchase period
Agreed, there is no other launcher option. Nova launcher is by far superior to any other launcher, stock or 3rd party. I've been using Nova since my GS4 days. Most stable, fastest, most features and options.

Hey!
I have been rooted my Defy and overclockrd it to 1Ghz. And it feels good now
But the question is, is there still something that I could do to get even more better performance out of Defy?
And yes, I know that flashing CM7 makes it faster, but Im not gonna flash anything yet coz' I have no experience about flashing. And Im bit careful with my defy.
I really want to know how to get whole performance out of this awesome device
And gaming. I've heard about "chainfire3D", will it make 3D and HD games more smoothly and better gaming experience?
Thanks in advace!
install an Applauncher like ADW Launcher to optimize the Appdrawer.
Julian
As far as I know chainfire3D improves performance only in games which are designed for Tegra GPU. Don't worry about Flashing CM7, you can always downgrade to Froyo (Btw, if you have 2.1 to improve performance you can flash 2.2 in official way using Motorola Software Update). Defy is almost unbrickable so you cannot do anything wrong.

Which is better ADW or GO luncher?
Send from my MB525 motodefy.
IMO, Go Launcher Ex is better. It is smoother and does not lag at all! Furthermore, the App Drawer is really nice , you can make it look like iOS - you'll have these tiny x's above the apps if you drag and hold your finger on them if you want to delete them or move.
ADW launcher is good, its still smooth, but go launcher is faster.

I second that.
My first launcher was ADW. It's really nice launcher but sometimes it's laggy and consumes much more CPU. GO Launcher runs smooth with any transation/effect i choose and has some nice tools like recent and running app in app drawer.
I think if you don't feel comfortable using CM7, Chainfire 3D is a no go either, it's safer but still can screw your system
You can also use Titanium Backup to "freeze" some apps you don't frequently use that still consume resources
the best launcher is launcherpro imo. it uses 3g acceleration for the animations, so it runs way smoother than other launchers, and its incredibly fast! and in launcherpro, you have the opportunity to hide apps in the app drawer. but the first step in increasing performance would definitely be to update to a 2.2 kernel than flashing cm7 (i recommend the 110909 nightly)!

The Blur Launcher runs in background and i can't be killed (in stock roms).
You can use apps like Home Manager or Home Switcher to switch between launchers

I would guess you already have 2.2 stock. If not, you're missing an easy improvement.
I also thought I needed to learn more before trying CM7 so it took me quite a while to flash it. The only thing I can say now is that it makes me appreciate even more how much faster CM7 is than stock 2.2. I wish I had tried it before.
I'm still having some problems with wifi, but I just can't go back anymore, stock is just too slow.
As for a launcher, try Zeam Launcher, pretty quick.
+1 for the Zeam Launcher. App launchers are just that. They should consume a minimal amount of resource so that the applications that really matter have more room to play with.
If you have a stock rom, it is really quite possible to take out moto's home app. You need to be rooted (and of course, you need to be careful)
Regarding the question about not seeing the original home launcher, i think the easiest thing to do is to uninstall the 3rd party app launcher. If the original home app is still installed, you *should then be able to see it again on the foreground.
For original home launcher fix go to market and search for "moto home fix". Read it and install.
And when you want to go back on original launcher, go to settings-applications-manage applications and select your current launcher.
Then click "clear defaults" and press home button.
Menu for choosing launcher will promp.

Zeam launcher has the best performance, but lacks some features. Best Alternative is LauncherPro, in my opinion.

1. Any overclockable kernels for this OS?
2. Which is better, Nova Launcher Prime or Apex Launcher Pro?
3. Are the 3rd party launchers going to give the same "100% no lag" experience as the stock launcher?
4. What resolution will I effectively be in if I set my dpi to 240 and I get rid of the nav bar?
Reason I am asking is because I don't want to drop money onto an app if I don't know exactly what I will be getting.
1. Any overclockable kernels for this OS?
Not sure off hand
2. Which is better, Nova Launcher Prime or Apex Launcher Pro?
Many people say that apex force closes a lot with jb, Nova runs smooth
3. Are the 3rd party launchers going to give the same "100% no lag" experience as the stock launcher?
I have not noticed any difference using different launchers so I don't think it's the launcher they sped up, its more of a system overhaul.
Reason I am asking is because I don't want to drop money onto an app if I don't know exactly what I will be getting.
and by all means try the free versions first, the prime and pro are not any "faster", they just have more features

1. Franco, that I know of
2. Last I heard, Apex doesn't even work on JB yet, while Nova, which already worked with JB, had an additional preliminary JB update within 24 hours.
3. I have a little bit of lag on Nova(about 10% of what I had on ICS), but 4.1 has only been out for a day. They'll patch it up soon.
franco doesn't work. It freezes at the Google logo before the boot animation.

You are 100% incorrect. There is an abundance of people reporting use of Franco on JB all over the forums, complete with screenshots.
"207 is awesome! Glad I made the switch! I added the values posted above before anything. Once rascream JB comes out this phone will untouchable. Nexus phones for life!"
"it works perfectly for me...its like a whole new phone with how smooth and fast it is"
If you don't know something for sure, don't act like you do. Why even bother posting if you're just making things up?

I can also say i am on Team Liquid vicious v2 with franco kernel 200. This thing is buttery smooth and jelly bean is amazing. I see franco has kernel 201 out and i havent heard if it is any better. Battery life seems good, not fully tested yet.
I have seen a couple of these posts and I am curious as many I'm sure, about our phones and operation from day to day use, I am sure we all wouldnt mind showing off our systems anyways as its always been an open source tradition for developers and testers to show off our skills and our differences.
If you dunno how, just press and hold both the home+power keys at the same time and it will take a screenshot and save it in /mnt/screenshot or similar..
So without further interruption, here is my lil piece of contribution to the stable ics with patches applied to fix small issues and yes everything works beautifully in my phone.
Here are mine lol. Something went wrong my last attempt.
And lastly to share the version and kernel
I'm using nova launcher prime, along with power amp paid, I bought nova prime for a quarter because of a promotional from Google and love it!
I also have system tuner pro(useful as a tester, gives you lots of control over the system), sense mini clock and weather widget(free), and the last widget is the bit defender widget for battery optimization. All others are default from my nova launcher settings.
I use this system as my day to day running ics 4.0.4, litekernel so I can overclock the CPU and control it all, using system tuner pro.
I wish I could change the boot animation but lol oh well.

I have a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 SM-T520.
i just tried the new Tab S 10.5 and it is way smoother than the Tab Pro 10.1, has anyone else noticed this?
Now because these devices are pretty much identical except for the extra 1gb of RAM in the Tab S, so if I increase the RAM in my Tab Pro using Roehsoft Ram Expander could I expect my Tab Pro 10.1 will become smoother?
Also would I be able to flash the Tab S ROM on my Tab Pro? would it work without any problems? In case it has more optimized software?
Kind feel gipped that both devices are essentially the same yet the Tab S is miles smoother.
Thanks Guys
Both Tab S and Tab Pro have 3gb ram don't they.
I have the 12.2 Tab Pro and that says it as 3gb ram
Only the 12.2.

10.1 has 2 GB.
Sent telepathically to my SM-T520
bought the 10.1 at BB on release day and have been there several times lately looking at the S and besides tthe screen size and improved screen (this doesnt mean that much to me) i am very pleased with the 10.1 and they seem to behave the same with all my looking.
i dont think having their rom would change anything and honeslty my 10.1 isnt laggy and has replaced my laptop for everything but for work.
i am certain that we will see some kind of S Pro or something hit later this year when the holidays hit and i will jump then.
i turned on Developer Options and set animations to 0 as i always do on everything and mine runs smooth.
Sammy has just this week firgured out how to actually get 6 of the 8 cores working together at once and we havent seen that update and probabaly wont for some time and that will make a huge difference.
also if like me you are on the web a lot with all that white background you will get better battery life on 10.1 but if your a video person with all the black background time you gain with the S.
I think all new android devices run the smoothest when they are new. As you download apps u can't help but have stuff running in the background. Android devices tend to slow down the longer you have them based on my experience.
I imagine demo mode is probably meant to run as fast as possible so that buyers aren't turned off by lag etc. If you have lag on your pro it has to have something to do with an app pulling too much ram. However, that extra 1gb of ram probably makes a difference. I know it did with my note 3 vs every other Samsung device I've owned. My pro 8.4 doesn't lag but it doesn't feel as fast as my note 2014 did while I had it. Software optimization has never been Samsung's strong suit.

To be honest the best thing you can do to fight lag on the tab pro is dump the horrible Magazine UX launcher. Samsung really sucks as a software company and it really shows with Magazine UX. Google OTOH makes some of the best software and it shows with the Google Now Launcher.
BTW I tried really hard to force myself to use magazine ux for 6 weeks after I got my tab pro. What a waste of time. I was wondering why my battery always ran down fast, and the app drawer was laggy etc. But it turned out it was the god-awful Touchwiz/Magazine UX bullsht the whole time. Switched to GNL and it was like i had a new tablet (again!)
Seriously if anyone is complaining about lag and is still using Touchwiz, I'd say that the solution is right in front of their nose, lol
What should I do if I want to switch to GNL..just install it from play store ?
Do I have to uninstall the Touchwiz as well ?
Can I go back to Touchwiz if don't like the GNL at a later time ?
Thanks

no, u can only install it from the play store if you have a Nexus device. for Galaxy Tab devices, you need to sideload the apk.
see here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-drive-google-now-launcher-and-play-services/
No need to uninstall Touchwiz. it stays on your device, but it won't be always running if you switch to GNL.
of course you can switch back later if you want. btw if u decide to switch to GNL, i suggest removing all icons/widgets from your Touchwiz home screens and re-adding them to your GNL home screens.
Thanks and will try soon..
I can only speak of the Tab Pro 8.4. But it was laggy on TouchWiz, and going to a CM based ROM made it much smoother. Honestly, I don't see any of the TouchWiz features (with exception of MultiWindow) to be of any added value; and I'm hardly missing TouchWiz one bit (again, MW is all I miss).

personally i use All Share, Hancom Widget, WatchON, love Samsung Calendar, SideSync, love the Email, and a few others i am sure i am forgetting. i use to despise TW and all layovers but TW has grown on me. like my Note 3 i will take the custom TW based Roms and use Root and Xposed to customize it the way i like versus trying to force back CM like Roms to give me the TW features back i like which never works right when going that direction.

Yup, I completely recognize its a matter of personal taste, how you use your device, etc. I kinda had a love/hate relationship with WatchON. The rest, I either didn't have much use for, or didn't like them. I actually stayed stock on my Note 8 for the year I used it (broke the screen), but I am the opposite of you on the Tab Pro (how TouchWiz grew on you), I was fine with TouchWiz before and for whatever reason now I can't stand it. I was using CleanROM for a couple months. But now I'm on Codename Lungo (CM based) and can't imagine going back to a TouchWiz ROM.
The stock ADW thing crashed into an infinite force close loop as soon as I applied a theme, the new version teases me with a bunch of EX stuff which I wont pay for on principle, and this FTL launcher should be called slower than lagged on my DINC, thing is way more unresponsive than stock, and has a huge long freeze on boot.
I don't want to have a lot of configuration options, or fancy animations, I just want fast and stable.
I think this should be the last of my many recent questions..

Launcher Pro. It's still in the Play Store. It hasn't seen an update since 2011, but, it's stable and fast. Doesn't use much memory and is fairly customizable. EG, 3D app drawer (one that doesn't actually lag), amount of screens, animations, amount of docks, icons, etc. I keep ADW in the rare case LP crashes, but it's only done so a hand full of times and I've used it for years.
Alternatively, Holo Launcher is alright. But it's slower. It looks like the stock ICS launcher.
perfect, thanks.. I'll use that and get the other for backup, since I didn't have a stock backup for adw, and I'm assuming the new version will be slower..

It looks real good so far.. I cant seem (LPP) to find any configuration options, so you know if there is a way to make it have more than 3 screens (pages?).
Edit: Ok, I hit menu, then preferences for config..
