Hello I need help with my HTC m9s it is still running on lollipop 5.0.2 when try checking for new updates I get the latest software already installed msg, while my previous phone m8 IS already on the latest software , help please. I checked it is on s-off ***locked*** status
Which os version is it running?.
Because it is s-off you could change the cid and mid to an unlocked version, install the firmware for that region and update ota to 7.0. It is really easy to do.
Htc m9s wont find new software updates
It is running on Android 5.0.2 lollipop. And s-off. how can I install the firmware?
Warning:
The M9S is a completely different device than the M9. The M9S has a mediatek processor whereas the M9 has a snapdragon processor.
You can't use any of the files in the M9 section since they're all incompatible with your phone. If you flash them (which is possible after getting S-OFF) you'll turn your phone into a fancy paperweight.
I could be wrong, but as far as I know the M9S has never received any major android update. In addition, since mediatek devices aren't that popular among devs the chances of finding a custom rom are very low.

I read that for Unlocked edition of M8 lollipop update with sense 6 already started rolling out. I have orange branded Polish phone with 3.33.69.1 compilation(android 4.4.4, kernel 3-4.0-g07962b9). I would like to change to official non-branded rom and then update to lollipop. I've rooted and changed roms on some previous android phones I had, but I would like to make sure that changing from orange branded to normal is possible, and that I will be able to receive official firmware updates afterwards.
i'm also interested in this. anyone?
Well I'm o2 UK branded and ive received update

You need to wait for an OTA Update to LP Firmware with a LP update with it.
Otherwise you'd need to S-Off. Pay up the $25, and S-Off. You'll have every firmware prior to release and be able to update.

From my experience Orange is very slow with allowing over the air updates, and I would prefer not to wait.
S-Off is achieved by using Sunshine, and Sunshine costs 25$, right? Once I do that I'll be able to change firmware, from what I gather.
The only thing I don't know is - where to get official HTC one m8 rom with no branding. I would like 100% legal way to get official non-orange m8 firmware. For example HTC site offering firmware updates to use with SD cards? Also, do I need to change CID? Wouldn't I just need to unlock bootloader trough htcdev and then install other firmware?
Hi guys, I own the international unlocked version of the One M8, but I still didn't get the Lollipop update OTA, and I decided to update my M8 manually by downloading the ROM from HTC USA website.. but I had a conversation with HTC's customers service, and they told me not to update manually cause it may brick your phone which is weird cuz many other OEM provide a manual update that works with all versions especially international unlocked version..
So is there any way to upgrade my M8 to lollipop?? cuz I can't wait for the OTA update any longer.
It's a chance that you have to take with every manual update or changing of ROM.
Not that it will brick it, but there's a chance.
Is it an OTA or an RUU, or something else?
Hi
Now i know that this might be the wrong section apologies... but since my phone is a variant of M8 and falls into this category i wanted to ask a few questions
I have my device rooted, bootloader unlocked and s-off
Running on kitkat 4.4.4
Software version 1.82.401.7
And supercid, custom recovery twrp 2.8.0.3
I live in uae and the ota for android L hasnt been released for my region but it has been released for india i have found that OTA version and downloaded it i want to know if i flash that indian region's firmware.zip to my device since it is supercid will it work? Or can i flash the the whole ota through fastboot
Please help....
Flashing firmware.zip won't work due to different MID
India version - 0P6B90000
Your version - 0P6B81000
To be able to fully convert a device to different region, you need to have same CID or SuperCID and same MID.
You can contact scotty1223 of this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581 to help you for the correct code.
(WARNING : never run any code that meant for M8 on your M8 eye - will hard brick it)
Once that is done - you can restore the older version India nandroid backup - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62987237&postcount=153
install the stock recovery then multiple OTAs to the latest lollipop version.
Ohkay i understand soo to be clear to flash any kind of firmware 1. It need to be for my specific device 2. It must match my mid and cid but mainly mid since supercid is universal and works for all region roms correct me if im wrong though
Has anybody using an htc one m8 eye anywhere in the world recieved the ota update for android m

how can i install lollipop in my htc m8 one eye indian version... i already unlock my bootloader
Well, i got my M9 as a christmas present, thinking that it was the unlocked variant, and when i receive it i inmediately start going through all the updates and when i finish, i asked myself, where is the 6.0 update? so i started diggin, and found out that my M9 is the australian variant, with CID OPTUS001, but the weird thing is that it is unlocked. So i ask, does it mean i wont be able to get the updates first? if the answer is no, then what do i have to do to convert my M9 to the international version, so i can get the updates first?
P.S: i already have experience with rooting, S-off, ROMS, etc on my M7 and i have already unlocked the bootloader of my M9

The US dev edition is the one that got the update, you'd have to covert to that to update it now or just wait for your edition to be updated

Hi,
I'm totally new to this and I'm looking for help.
I have a HTC One (M9), unlocked. I realised since I got the handset (insurance replacement in 2016) I've never had an OTA update. I contacted HTC support who advised that I am running unofficial software and that is why I cannot get OTA updates. I've asked them to elaborate on what is "unofficial" about it as I have never rooted the handset or messed around in any way. They couldn't elaborate and advised I should send it to them to be flashed (at cost, as it's out of warranty).
Anyway, I want to put my handset into a condition where I can receive OTA updates & also ensure that I benefit from the latest software updates so I started looking into how I could do this. As a noob to Android the easiest method seemed to be via RUU exe. I've downloaded 2 different RUU's from HTC website but both errored with "incorrect version" when I tried to install. I then downloaded a ZIP which I followed the instructions to boot to recovery & install from phone storage, this also errored with "cannot find files".
As above I've tried going from Android v5 to v7 and that failed, I don't know whether I had the wrong RUU or I need to upgrade to v6 first.
I'm in the UK with I presume a UK handset but the RUUs were downloaded from htc.com not htc.com/uk as the UK one doesn't seem to provide this.
So long story short I'm looking for help getting the correct RUU for my handset and I'm having no luck. I'd appreciate any advice given.
HTC One M9
CID: HTC_001 (WWE)
Android: 5.0.2
HTC Sense: 7.0
SW: 1.32.401.17
S-ON
Cheers
Breezo
Firmware 1.32.401.17 only got distributed in one single country (I always forget which one it was - it definitely wasn't the UK). Therefore, the combination of that version together with the HTC__001 CID can only get achieved by tinkering with the phone.
You're actually using an official stock rom but you can't update your phone since the UK never was meant to receive this specific version and/or its OTAs.
You should be able to "return" to 1.32.401.15 without much hassle by following one of the guides in the ReadMe thread. Even with S-ON this little downgrade should be possible (c.f. the RUU section of the ReadMe thread).
If flashing the 1.32.401.15 RUU fails you'll have no choice but unlocking the bootloader, getting root, setting the phone S-OFF and retrying to flash the RUU. All needed steps are explained in the ReadMe thread, as well.

Hi Flippy498,
Thanks very much for the response and advise.
I've no idea how it ended up like that. I can only assume as it was an insurance replacement that it was initially branded then flashed incorrectly before it was issued to me.
I'll try your suggestions over the weekend.
Thanks again for the knowledge, its appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Flippy498,
That worked perfectly thanks very much for your help. Took the software down from .17 to .15 and OTA updates kicked in immediately.
Now running on Android 7.0
Cheers again

Deffo not a UK phone. We went from 5.0.1 out of the box straight to 6.0.
I'm pretty sure that UK received Android 5.1, as well. No variant of the M9 skipped firmware 2.x.
Firmware 1.x = Android 5.0.2
Firmware 2.x = Android 5.1
Firmware 3.x = Android 6.0
Firmware 4.x = Android 7.0
Since the UK M9 is the "normal" European unbranded version (SKU 401) it received the following versions:
1.32.401.8
1.32.401.15
1.40.401.8
2.10.401.1
2.10.401.180*
3.35.401.12
3.35.401.32
4.14.401.7
4.28.401.3
In addition to that there are:
1.32.401.6 (a pre-release firmware shown on the MWC)
1.32.401.17 (which got distributed in only one country)
* Normally the three numbers behind the last dot indicate a beta firmware. Since the Nougat update couldn't be applied in one single update they had to distribute this version, as well.
