Maybe this is not what you are looking for, but this sounds as great ROM
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-t3657384
( I didnt test, just reading the thread )

the rom JIJOK mentioned, is very good. I am using it atm. But "half root" and "noteamwin"... I think you should read the threads very carefully. At first get real recovery (Sony EMMA Tool) and TWRP (yes team win).

[request]Searching a HowTo for Skinning Swype

Hi,
Today my Defy arrived
Now I have read many threads about the phone and the firmware, but soneones making me confused and other ones doesnt answer my questtions.
So, what I want to know is:
1. Wich is the really latest firmware for the Defy with the red lense? Done
2. when Im going to install CM7, must be flashed an stock froyo rom before? Done
3. because swype is preinstalled in the firmware, how can i update it to the latest version? Done
4. how can i make my own swype theme?
I think thats all (for now )
Greetings
I'll only answer to the ones that I know the answer...
2. The instructions say that you should. Also, from what I read, every tutorial says that you should go to stock. Also, a wipe could be advisable (not to inherit problems and bad settings from the previous ROM)
3. You can get it from the official site. As far as I've noticed CM7 doesn't come with Swype.
Hopefully someone else answers the other two questions.
Have a nice day!
And I'll take the opportunity to ask a few somewhat related noobie questions:

I've seen a few mentions of different lens colours. What is this? (link to explanation is fine) ETA: Found it myself. Really stupid to ask. Bottom line ATM seems to be that for phones recently manufactured the lens colour is not a reliable indicator of camera module used.

Doesn't this mean that you don't need to do anything special (maybe wipe everything, but maybe not that important?) when you flash a new ROM into the phone for the first time?
Or would you still need to first flash a plain stock ROM if your phone came with some telco-provided crappy stuff in the ROM, before flashing a custom ROM?
(Purely hypothetical question for me.)
Bumping this, because I am getting to closer to actually start rooting around (hah!) in the innards of my phone, and I keep wondering about this:

So do I need to flash _another_ stock ROM before I switch to cyanogen or whatever, if my phone is a virgin that came with the stock nordic rom (moto_version.34.177.5.MB525.retail.en.ND/jorem_U3_3.4.2_177-5)?
It somehow seems redundant to me to flash another stock to my phone when I already have a stock froyo (without blur even) on it.
BTW, given the focus of this forum you are all being very very kind to us noobs. Upthread I asked a really really really stupid question (I'll see if I can edit out), and nobody threw rocks at me .
I am still wondering though whether anyone can recommend an alternative forum more suited to Really Basic Questions?
Just root, install second init for recovery, then flash cyanogen...
If you click devices at their website, you can grab the latest nightly ROM, and you will also find the wiki, which has a step by step on how to do everything.
It's really simple, just keep glued too the instructions.
Good luck

It is recommended as a precaution for a failsafe install but you can install CM7 on any stock 2.2 or above rom.

BTW, it would be good if you'd change the topic back, or put the old topic in parenthesis to the new one or something. Something like

might be good
I was wondering why I was subscribed to a thread about swype-skinning, as it couldn't be further from my interests, but never mind that - there's good info in this thread not related to swype.

You big thread hooligan, Mr gentleman
Edit:
To answer your question,
You should probably check with Swype to see if skinning is even capable with their app... (or potentially even allowed)
To my knowledge, skinning Swype is uncharted territory...the app is in beta still.
Some advanced knowledge of Android would be required to hack, disassemble, and recompile any themes for it.

[Q] p607t Are any of these lte roms compatible?

I have a tmo note 10.1 2014. Are any of these lte roms compatible at all??
Why yes they are I'm running xKat 5.0, SE permissive stock kernel, and TWRP (and have been since the night I got that tablet a week or so ago). SO glad that T-Mobile is carrying this hardware, AND that they're generally cool with rooting / modding etc. I even told the guy at the Tmo store my "policy" that I WILL NOT buy (well, much more trade in this case :good: ) any device that has arbitrary restrictions preventing me from gaining root (i.e. the ability to administer my own device.) He was ridiculously cool... even told me he was pretty sure it was cool if I flashed custom firmware on my new completely gratis "cellspot" router if I restored it to stock before I returned it (or likely will end up buying). SO glad Tmo is making all of these pro-consumer moves... and also that it seems to be working out for them so well (not to mention, their customers)!
I've read some of your posts around here. You mention removing a few files before flashing. Did you? If so, can share with me what/how you did?
Sent from my SM-P607T using XDA Premium HD app
No, I didn't... as you've probably noticed, info re: the entire process of root, recovery, custom ROM is kind of spread out around the forum. I thought that might be necessary because I recalled reading something about having to do that to flash a p605 ROM on a p607t (might have pertained to a specific ROM or something), but I asked specifically in the xKat thread to make sure and found it (well, first by just trying it - then took a look at the thread mid flash and saw that someone had responded :good that the xKat zip can be flashed as-is. Select any options you'd like in the Aroma installer and you're good to go! (You do need to flash an additional file after at least one reboot - otherwise you'll need to enter your wifi pass after each reboot... it's the OP of the ROM thread).
I can only say for certain that xKat w/ SE permissive kernel works great on the 607t... I think any p605 ROM can actually just be flashed without modification (hopefully someone will chime in and correct me if that isn't true - I think the info about modifying zips was just speculation, but was found not to actually be the case). Just make sure to make a nandroid of the stock ROM before flashing
How are you liking the new tablet? Loving it here! I hope now the T-mobile is selling it (by far the best of their Android tablets), this device will gain back some popularity that it lost from the TabPro release a few months later. Perhaps the forum will liven up a bit
I absolutely love this tablet. Im coming from a Nexus 10 and although they share the same screen resolution, this one is much faster, sleeker, brighter, and I'm loving the S pen. I had it rooted ten minutes after i brought it home. I've also recovered from a soft brick after having flashed the wrong twrp. Woops! Ive been dying to try different rom on this bad boy, hence all the questions for you. I'm gonna give xkat a go here. I'll report back to you with my results!

Nice man! Feel free to PM me if you get stuck anywhere along the way
BTW: Something I just learned, even if you select the SE permissive kernel, your kernel will be enforcing unless you manually change it, either via terminal or that SElinux Changer app (forgot exactly what it's called). I had been confused re: why in "About device" it said that the kernel was SE enforcing even though I installed the permissive one. Just FYI
Does spen work on xkat anybody revert successfully and gain the function back?

Hi,
Your rom is very good, but i think, is can to a better if getting to merge into this mod: [YKG] Real Xperia Z3 Super Stereo Sound
I think this sound mod is very-very good, and useful. This add a stereo feature for a loud speaker default (nearly, but better than the default), add a clearer sound quality for headphones, and more..
I think this is can to make a more better EVO 10 version in the future.
Thanks, for the listening, and sorry if my english is not the best
as you guys know, this rom worked perfectly with the 4k mod, it just that z1c phone have poor camera that didnt even look like 20.7mp cam. even the camera is poor when an image is zoom in when compared to others like samsung nexus.
and yes i admit that this is a phone not a camera n its a 2013 phone .
in my case the 4k and timeshift are fully working but the quality isnt near enough as 4k as its should be, mine would say 4k vid can be zoom, crop without any pixelated nor blurry.
in z1c the vid is ridiculously big in size and i would say stock cam is sufficient enough . this rom really really good as far as until today,i just do clean install and until now never had cam freeze, maybe in some phone are having freeze depending on manufacture, again really nice rom for daily use

Network issues (radio/baseband)
Hi there, I think this rom is awesome however I am having trouble getting anything above 2G. I have tried flashing stock .108 and .157 (latest) basebands without wipe etc and still can't get it to work. I think my variant is UK. Can anyone send me a working radio/baseband file please? I think the files within a stock rom FTF file should be amss_fs_2.sin, amss_fs_1/sin, amss_fsg.sin, and loader.sin. If could extract these files that work and share a link with us that would be great!
UPDATE: Downloading an older ROM where its baseband worked in the past for me http://dl.weeaboo.com/Z1Compact/D5503_14.2.A.1.114_Generic%20UK.ftf however I get signal drops.

There's no point in flashing your phone without wiping data, the difference between the kernels of the different builds will leave you with an unstable or badly performing system.
No one has reoprted no network in the KitSlim thread, that I know of. Most problems arise from a bad install where the instructions were not followed and a full wipe not completed. Wipes between firmware builds are essential because of the reason just mentioned.
If you are keen to get the latest firmware then you should head over to IaguCool' s thread on Xperia Firmware Downloader & Checker. Follow the instructuions there. You will need a copy of Flashtool and it'd be good to read the thread on 'how to' as all the instructions are there, rather than jump to the last page and ask, which is what everybody does.
A fresh wipe with the latest baseband is bound to sort your problems, then if that fixes it you can always make you way back to KitSlim

I did do a full wipe you see but you are right, after a full reinstall of the stock .108 I was able to get the network back. I was doing it right all along but for some reason when I was about to download network settings my provider (EE) was not listed. Gave them a ring and they sent me the configuration and now it's working better than previously (no signal drop outs). I know very well how to use the Flashtool and where to get it in addition to the stock roms and no I did not just jumped to the last page and ask. There are people out there who exhaust all possibilities before asking for help you know. No one having issues with network you say? Then perhaps you are the one who needs read or should I say search the thread. I will give you a hint, search for terms "radio" and "baseband" and you will all of them with no clearly stated fix. Had this issue in the past with dual recovery and root flash on stock with locked bootloader; exhausted that thread as well!

How ever I have only been able to successfully enter TWRP once and that when i flashed the rom. Volume up when you see the sony logo i thought but it just vibrates and boots up. Ive been running into some bugs like it tells me SU binary needs to be updated but I cant. Also ill be selling my device soon and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. So far what ive found is that using the flashool i should flash 14.4.A.0.157 but I am currently on this rom which is 14.4.A.0.108? I just dont want to end up bricking my device.
**TWRP is volume down at boot**
That's still doesn't work for me. Reinstalled the one click dual recovery twice...says successful. I'm lost

Install NDR Utils, that gives you the option to restart into Phils or TWRP.
Flashing .157 via Flashtool is very easy, if done properly (select all the wipe tickboxes, but exclude TA), it will leave you with a blank up to date phone, with none of your data left on it.
Having .108 already on it will not make any difference. Obviously flashing the phone will remove recovery and root.

Questions about rooting from a noob.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying an LG G4 because it's gotten very cheap now and I want to use it as my daily driver.
I'll be getting the international version and I want to root my phone before properly setting it up. The reason for this is that I want xposed to make some ui changes as I feel the G4's ui is horrible (no offence). I've heard I'll need a custom kernel, twrp recovery, unlocked bootloader and root access.
I've also heard that with custom roms you lose functionality to things such as the IR blaster and the amazing camera app and all its settings. Is that true? If that is the case, I'd rather keep on stock rom with xposed helping me make the UI bearable.
My question is what would I exactly need to do? (with kernels, recovery, bootloaders etc I have only rooted a device once and it was 4 years ago so I have forgotten the basics plus it seems the whole process has become very tough now) The only end product I want is to run the xposed while retaining the IR blaster functionality and the camera app etc.
I have tried going through some videos on youtube but I found them vague, a little different from what I wanted or I saw a few comments talking about how the phone was bricked or stuck in bootloop.

Hi buddy , if your phone comes and it's on lollipop the type in Google " root lg g4 lollipop xda " but if it arrives on marshmallow then type " root lg g4 marshmallow xda " as for losing functions like the IR blaster and camera , I'm using latest Genisys ROM marshmallow version with the Imperium kernel and I have all my features still working they will only stop working if you flash a ROM which isn't based on LG for example Cyanogen or blisspop things like that....
If I have helped please leave a thumbs up!

Hi, thanks for the reply! How is the performance compared to the stock rom? What other benefits does a g4 based rom give?
Also, I still find the process a little confusing. Am I supposed to root first, unlock bootloader or install a recovery. Also what are the chances of bricking my phone?

Well first of all the performance depends there are options when installing different kernels which will give you better speed or better battery life the choices will be written in the kernel or ROMs description , the other benefits are debloated ROMs which means the software on the phone has been reduced to free up space and get rid of useless stuff and other little UI tweaks it just depends which ROM you choose as for the process you unlock your bootloader first via lg devs official site then depending on how you root will depend when you root it I'll explain , if your phone arrives and its on lollipop then use low effort root but if it comes and its on marshmallow then you use systemless root method and I won't bull**** ya pal the chances of messing your phone up is about 30 percent just make sure you follow every single step very carefully , the reason I said 30 percent is because if you're on lollipop then it's easier in my opinion to restore your phone by flashing the .kdz stock file for your phone ( the .kdz will make your phone like you bought it)
If my posts have helped please leave a thumbs up!

What are the advantages of the rom that you're using?
30 percent sounds like a lot, but are you saying that I can restore my phone even if I mess up the process?
Also can you link me to the methods?
The advantages of the ROM I'm using is good battery life with a good balanced performance also it has the LG G5 apps built in to it , and yes you can restore your phone as for the links to the methods I'm chatting to you on my tablet so gathering all the links would be quite hard they are easily found though for example if you are searching for low effort root then just type it in Google followed by xda so it looks like low effort root method xda , if you really want the links then I'll boot up my PC in the morning and I'll find them all for you , it's night time where I am so I'm going to bed soon I'll check your post though in the morning in case you have any more questions and as always please leave a thumbs up I greatly appreciate it , thanks buddy....

No problem mate, I found the link to the low effort btw.
So I'll have to unlock bootloader via the lg website first? then I'll have to install a custom recovery and then root? (or root and then install custom recovery?)
Also I was going through the thread of the rom you're using, and I saw the screenshots and they were pretty much the same as the lg ui (which I'm trying to run away from). Basically what I want is a stock android ui without losing the core functionality like the IR blaster and the camera app, knock code etc.
A question I have is do I have to change the kernel etc while rooting my device or can I just use the stock kernel?
I just did all of these things this morning. I posted my steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/howto-complete-guide-to-unlock-twrp-t3370003
I personally stopped installing custom ROMs since Xposed. It lets use keep the phone as it is out of the box but add in just the changes we want. With many custom ROMs, there are always bugs so you'll have to update them and that can mean resetting your device. You then have to install all your apps and settings again.
I tried to make the above guide as noob friendly as possible and it hopefully shouldn't require any reading outside of the thread.

General Discussion [ Share and Compare ALL Custom Builds]

Keep the trouble shooting questions for each specific ROM or Kernel to THEIR threads. So that way Devs can be made aware of any errors to be able to work on, if need be, and for when people are searching for solutions to their problems the answers won't be scattered around. Consolidation makes everything easier!
What's your build? What are you loving about it? Any MOD recommendations?

Sound Systems™ audio MOD
I'm a first time rooter (introduced to it by my fiance) and aspiring developer. I am going back to school to get that ball rolling. I'm socially awkward whilst being a social butterfly (once I'm out of my shell). The A.R.I.S.E team and TeamVenom have helped me to come out of that shell here on XDA so I'm ready to get socializing and talk all things root! However, I don't want to blow up their threads with unrelated posts...and so I've created this thread - so let's have at it and share ideas, opinions, and have fun! Remember to keep issue/ questions related to each ROM, Kernel, MOD etc. posted ON THEIR threads! So please include a link to their XDA thread when sharing what you've got.
Be kind and respectful. And have fun!

LeeDrOiD10 ROM
either with the build-in
~clumsy~ Kernel
or
ElementalX Kernel
No sound mods as the audio boost of LeeDrOiD is workin' just fine with the build in DACs
Used Viper for a long time and it is a great ROM. In fact I went to LeeDrOiD10 cause the tweaks on Viper10 are just so many, and most of them I've never used at all. On LeeDrOiD there are just a few tweaks, where all those I need and use are present.
Cheers

EDIT: Lol got a post while taking 10 years to write this one...so it doesn't appear as though I was my own first response...but if I wrote like a normal person, I would have been.
TL;DR - Zip below will get rid of red message during boot, REQUIRES S/OFF, if you choose to flash this I'm NOT responsible for bricked phones, this zip file works for US Unlocked HTC 10 phones - but I'll rewrite the files inside to match your CID if you need me to, not originally my work and I don't know who's it is...sorry!
-Rename the zip file 2PS6IMG.zip & place it in the external SD card
-Boot down to download mode and if it's all groovy there will be a message at the bottom outlining that it found the "2PS6IMG" zip file and will tell you to press VolUp to proceed with the flash or VolDwn to continue to the normal download mode screen options
NOTE: if your screen doesn't display that initial message at the bottom and just goes to the normal download mode options then you've named the zip file wrong. Make sure that you didn't end up with 2PS6IMG.zip.zip during the renaming process - it HAS to read 2PS6IMG.zip or download mode will not see it as it is scanning for that name exclusively!
- If you got the message go ahead and hit volume up and, when prompted at the end, hit the power button. If you're phone boots down immediately after hitting the volume up button DON'T FREAK and leave it be. It'll kick back up and finish it's thing.
- Reboot and enjoy! (First boot up may take longer than you're comfortable with, that's normal chill for a moment and it'll all work out)
(First to reply to my own thread, crazy stuff happening here...watch out! )
Never understood why the TL;DR is put at the bottom. I know I write novels...I love words but I feel the TL;DR is more thoughtful to place at the top...so you don't have to wade through the overwhelmingly copious amounts of my words to find out there was a TL;DR option. Always thinking of you  however, surely there exists an individual who not only continues and reads my posts in their entirety, but is as entertained reading it as I am writing it!
.............
Anyway, since this is meant to be a thread in which we share fun rooting tweaks and whatnot, I thought I'd go ahead and add this zip file. If you aren't a fan of the red message during the boot up that appears after you've successfully rooted - I've got your solution! I do have to apologize... I'm not sure who the original creator is. My fiance sent the file to me through Bluetooth and I rewrote a couple lines in the file so it would work with my CID. I tried to find the correct individual or thread to link in order to give them the proper credit, but there were a few posts for it so I'm unsure who it is. Just know I'm not trying to claim this for my own... just sharing the love :victory:
MAKE SURE YOU ARE S/OFF BEFORE DOING THIS! YOU'RE FLASHING THIS ON YOUR OWN ACCORD, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SOFTWARE/ HARDWARE FAILINGS
This is for the US Unlocked phones. So if you're not US Unlocked, but you want up in this sexy zip action, let me know and I can rewrite the file for you. The CID just needs to be rewritten to match the one on your phone. As a precaution I also rewrote the "mainver" line. It had the original 1.21.531.1 (T-Mobile's current software number) to the updated 1.80.617.1 (the current software number for US Unlocked). I wanted it all lined up perfectly, just in case, however IDK if you need to rewrite the "mainver" live in that text file my phone is fully functional after the rewrite and flash so I'm confident that I took the right steps. I posted what I've got going on for my custom ROM/ Kernel in the OP, if that's important for you to know. I've got the instructions above in TL;DR - no need to repeat. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for the reply! I haven't checked LeeDrOiD10 out personally, but I saw it on my fiances phone when he got uber frustrated at a camera defect post viper update. The V10 ROM update caused our kernel to be temporarily incompatible...so he temporarily ditched V10 and tried LeeDrOiD10.
He was saying the same things as you in regards to fewer customisation's. And hebmade mention of it being a little more user friendly. But, ultimately, he returned to V10
EDIT:@5m4r7ph0n36uru what exactly does the LeeDrOiD10 ROM offer in terms of the sound boost? An equalizer? Or a little more than that. I didn't check that feature out. I didn't know it was one. My other half may have known though. We love the crazy amounts of tweaking you can do with Viper4Android in the A.R.I.S.E. MOD and all their tweak.prop files/ profiles that we can load up!
Being a spectator of LeeDrOiD10 was sufficient enough for me...only because I know myself, and I LOVE having as many options and open doors, in regards to messing around with my phone, as possible. Tis more dangerous waters to tread that way...but that's all the fun! And I'm confident enough in myself to be able to recover from most things. After all XDA has strong support to offer!
Yeah I know and it always has been fun changing nearly every detail in a ROMs behavior as it is possible on Viper10. But in fact I guess I'm maturing from this phase in my live where modding was the one and only, as we'd say in germany.
In fact I'm getting older and less fascinated by all those features. Maybe it'll come a time when I'll again become fascinated by modding and tuning every tiny bit of a ROM, but at the moment I really just need some basics.

There's a flavor for everyone! And our taste buds change over time for sure. So long as you're happy with your phone and its features, that's all that matters!
