Hi all
So, i'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, & was just wondering, is it worth switching from the Note 8 to a Mi Mix 2 ?
Kindly let me know what you think Details if possible!
Thank you
I'm not sure why you would want to change from a note 8 to the Mi Mix 2. The Mi Mix 2 is a great device. But the note 8 seems to be even greater. I'm not sure if the Mi Mix 2 offers anything over the note 8 (except for price).
-processor specs are similar, but the note 8 has waterproofing, pen, better support, arguably a better standard android build (MIUI has bigger flaws than Touchwiz (or whatever it's called these days), a better screen and an infinitely better camera.
The only benefit for the Mi Mix 2 would be that it's easier to put custom roms on it? But they are still a bit buggy at the moment.
I did the move because I had an amazing deal. Mix 2 almost costed me like 150 usd.
I just like it for the ergonomics and how the phone feels PLUS to be honest got bored of the silver color and waiting for the blue 256 variant.
But note 8 as a device is better in every aspect. Battery screen options and support ... If u didn't get a good deal then don't switch

I currently am in the position where I can pick between a mi5plus 128gb 6gb ram or a minute note 2 4gb ram 64 GB Rom besides that spec wise they seem to be the same however what does you guys think I'm really stuck between them in a bad way I can't pick

I am a happy owner of Mi 5S Plus, this is by far the best phone I have ever used.
The screen is better on Mi 5S Plus but the camera may be slightly better on Mi Note 2 (at least in daylight). If I had the opportunity to get one of them for free (not considering that Note 2 is more expensive) I would take Mi Note 2 for the edge to edge screen.
Mi Note 2 is better
I've had an MI5 for a couple years and the screen is cracked and close to dying. I was thinking of buying an MI5S as a replacement but feel like I could get a better phone as it's TOO similar to my trusty MI5 even.
My specific, additional criteria includes it being similarly sized (height/thickness) to the MI5/MI5S (to fit my mobile phone holder). After searching GSMArena, it returned around 8 phones. Most of them were cheap phones that were also released in 2016. The one exception was the original Google Pixel. The spec seems similar to the MI5/MI5S but the fingerprint scanner on the back is a deal breaker. So with that, I'd be prepared to open up the choice of phones a bit more. It must be able to run LineageOS and still be getting updates (future releases are never guaranteed, I understand). Any recommended phones (or just get the MI5S)?
I would go for the newer Mi6, because it has an optical image stabilizer like the Mi5, which the Mi5s sadly lacks.
The Mi6 also has a way faster CPU than the Mi5s. Don't forget, the Mi5s is now nearly 2 years old.
Indeed, price difference is minimal, so go with better options like the Mi6. Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 are also friendly priced recently.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I didn't consider the Mi6 and a few other Xiaomi phones becasuse I was using an old GSMarena saved search where I specified band 28 had to be in the phone, but I don't actually need that band now.
Aaargh, the Mi6 (and upcoming 6X), Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 all don’t have headphone jacks (the headphone adapters aren’t going to cut it)! Curse you Apple. We knew it was coming, I guess. They’re all a similar size to my old phone at least and fit the phone holder as well.
Mi Mix 2 looks like it will get updated for some time but that's starting to get heavy (185 g/6.53 oz) too:
https://www.lineageosrom.com/2018/01/xiaomi-devises-getting-android-p.html
The Nokia 8 actually looks very good value with same CPU as the Mi Mix 2 (and similar weight) but with the headphone jack, but the Lineage devs are waiting on the bootloader to be unlockable for that.
I think I’ll have to wait. At least I have a better idea of what I’m looking for. Would be nice if the stats.lineageos.org site showed the newer phones’ popularity/trend in another table.
Mm, you have a point there. The Mi Note 2 or the original Mi Mix maybe? The upcoming Redmi Note 5 (with the SD636) is also promising to be a good deal. Otherwise some Nubia (Z17 lite for instance) and maybe even LeTV phones with a custom ROM might be worth a look (although I'm not sure about the build quality from LeTV). Just check the XDA thread of the device beforehand and always stick to Qualcomm processors as Mediatek gives crap support to both producers and ROM developers.

Thanks for those. Mi Note 2 and orignial Mi Mix are a bit old (hey, one of the earlier posts has made me only look at 2017 or later phones). The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro phone is a bit heavy at around 180gm (my 64gb Mi5 is 129gb).
The LeTv/LeEco phnoe have two, more-recent releases that look reasonable but from those the LeEco Le Pro3 Elite has the same chipset as my Mi5 and the LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition has a Mediatek chipset (taking your advice on ruling out phones with those).
The Zubia Z17 lite looks a decent option (168gms is getting up there is weight) but just saw its finger print scanner is rear-mounted too.
Will keep looking!
On the 24. April Xiaomi will present the new Mi 6X. Details so far unknown, but will probably be the successor of the Mi 6.

No separate 3.5mm/headphone jack. Looks nice though. I refuse to get wireless earphones or use any dongle. I bought some nice wired earphones not too long ago.
Sounds like the Mi7 might be out sometime this year too (but, again, probably won't have a 3.5mm/headphone jack).
Hi friends,
I want to know that, Redmi note 5 pro is still worth to buy, and if not then which phone is better under 15k.
My needs by ranking:
1. Performance
2. Battery Backup
3. Camera
I have seen multiple comparisons between several phones at this price range but didn't find any better, also as i am an android developer i think future development will be better with note 5 pro what do you think?
1. Pocophone F1 (it's really as good as it is)
2. Redmi note 5 pro (the mod support is too good)

Redmi Note 5 Pro still worth because it has gained a lot of Custom Rom and developers support.
But if Nokia's lineup(5.1, 6.1) or Mi A2 price drops then they worth Buying. I also see Infinix brand came with Android One. If you love Stock android then you might also try Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
Guys im planing to update Note 8 from loving note 5pro.. So what you think guys? Is there anyone who update to Note 8.. Please leave your comments..
My buddy just got the note 8t but the battery is worse? Camera is great though. I just feel like the overall quality is not up to par with the note 5. The specs are also pretty similar.
Not a good update from Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Go for AMOLED Display
Go for devices launched with Android 10 out of the box
Don't upgrade this I've gone back to using the note 5.

Upgrade to any Mi9 or Mi A3. They have better SoCs, similar or better battery and a good AMOLED screen. Also, modding community is really great for those devices.
If you wanna save money wait for a significant dropping of Redmi 8T, if you want to do a step forward look at Mi 9T.
I have a new Note 8 Pro 6Gb Ram & 64GB, unopened.
However I have seen that I can now get the Redmi note 9S 4GB RAM (on promo) for the same price. The question should I order the 9S and return this one.
What is important for me is battery life, display quality and custom rom support. Overall Performance should be 'smooth' but I'm no gamer, just play the odd game.
Oh the size is important, I don't want anything too big. Just holding the Note 8 Pro, I am already thinking its already maybe abit too big. The 9S adds a couple more mm.
I guess future custom rom support for the 9S should be very good, it looks like it will be a big seller and having a Snapdragon CPU probably means more choice of custom roms ?
Any thoughts ?

Redmi note 9 pro aka note9s is way too big. And the finishing is not as good as note 8 pro. The thick black plastic around the sreen is thicker than redmi note 8. You can see from the side.
You should keep note 8 pro.

Redmi Note 9 Pro is not the same as Note 9s. For example, Note 9 Pro has NFC. 9s does not.
