Is it possible to flash the demo unit to a retail unit?
Not sure, did you swipe one from a display?
Bought it from eBay, yet to be delivered. The seller is saying it's a retail model put on demo mode and need software to change it.
Any help really appreciated

I don't know. He has over 4000 feedback and they're all positive.
Disregarding if it's stolen or not I say just try booting into recovery and doing a factory reset.
There is an option in Developer Options to enable "system demo mode". It is probably toggled. Try that when you get it and see.

Phone delivered today, need password to factory reset. Will try from bootloader
Factory reset from recovery removed demo mode but seems like phone is carrier blocked
Yeah, you got burned on a stolen unit. Stolen demo unit from a display might I add.
Either that, or stolen contract device. VZW won't unlock it to other carriers unless paid in full (I could be wrong on this, but it's how I remember it)
If possible, file a fraud case with Ebay. Or take your lumps and lick your wounds. Sorry man.
i just factory reset a demo unit a customer brought in and its 100% good to go.
no more demo mode and fullbars with tmobile

All modern Verizon phones come carrier unlocked out of the box now. This has been the case since they rolled out 4G I believe.
Thank you guys,
I received a brand new Pixel 4 yesterday from O2 Germany and it turned out to be a Demo Unit,.
O2 could nothelp me, even replacement would have worked only as complaint.
But selecting factory reset, typing in #GoogleDemoUnit# as passwort solved the problem.
Thank you guys.

Hey, I'm new here... so I don't know if there's a post about this somewhere else, but I haven't found it...
Anyway, I bought a second hand Galaxy S6, it's new and everything, I bought it for like $300 because it is on Demo Mode, like from a Demo Floor model, and I'm wondering if I can remove this with some kind of software, or flashing it, but all I can find is SM-G920 I and F models, no SM-G920P (which is Sprint) on sammobile website
Also, if someone could help me telling me how much does it cost and when will it be possible to unlock my Galaxy S6?
Thanks
Yes it can be done but! for you to have one thats in retail mode the phone had to have been stolen from the store so most likely bad ESN.

Either way to put it in retail mode you need a special code that only stores have. So it had to have been stolen at one point.

So... I talked with the same guy from who I bought it, and traded this Demo S6, for a new one, so my only problem now is that it's not unlocked...
I don't know how to unlock from Sprint, I'm not from the United States, any suggestions/ideas/websites/programs/etc?
Sprint S6 Unlock
So... I did a little search yesterday, and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../app-one-click-hotspot-enabler-menus-t2816159
But I don't think that will help me unlocking my SM-920P, or will it? I'm asking before trying because I have never rooted a phone, so... I rather be sure
The IMEI seems clean too
Galaxy tools will get the job done.
So my girlfriend just purchased an S6 (sprint) and when she took it to the store to have it activated they couldn't do it because it was "locked"...some kind of carrier lock I'm assuming.. Like they owed sprint money or something? Obviously if it was a normal security lock than we could just do a factory reset but apparently that won't work.
So.. Anyone know anything about this and a way around it? I'm a Verizon user and have never heard of this kind of problem. Thanks for any help in advance.

All carriers, including Verizon, have a carrier BLOCK not lock. A carrier lock means the device is locked to that carrier. What exactly did Sprint say? If the phone is blacklisted, which you can check on any ESN checker online, then it will never work on Sprint.
Where did she buy the phone at?

I'm unsure what they told her exactly, besides that they can't activate it. Now what is the point of a carrier block? She got the phone off Craigslist.

Yup. Its definitely carrier blocked. NEVER buy cell phones from Craigslist without first checking the ESN from Sprint directly. You are better off selling the device on eBay FOR PARTS.
The point of a carrier block is so people who steal, or fail to pay off their device, can not use it anymore, and thus rip off good people on craigslist and eBay.

That I believe is an FRP lock.. Totally different from a carrier block. But if you go into download mode, you can press the home key to view IMEI. But FRP lock, which is what you just described, can be bypassed.
Check out this video and follow it to a T. You may need to improvise do to different android versions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ8_qbj1DPQ
Hope it helps! If its just FRP locked, and not carrier blocked, then you should be okay to get it activated.

can't you contact the person who sold it to you? threatening to bring the police in might scare them into giving you a refund. If the phone had a FRP lock and its flagged, then im pretty sure the phone was stolen.

Yeah It more than likely was. It's pretty much a dead end.. My gf payed for it but her brother met the person somewhere for pickup.. Only contact information is an email address which they haven't responded too after the sale. Apparently the phone was dead when he picked it up. I personally would have put it on my car charger and powered it on before paying for it.. And got more information.. But oh well.. Now she knows to be more cautious and I'll probably handle any future used phone purchases for her.

Shady stuff man. I hope you have better luck with Craigslist in the future. I try to steer clear of them, sort of like Ebay. You could always inquire on what the remaining balance is. If it's something stupid like $48, I would just pay it off.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Loaded os WiFi on, no sim , dev options enabled oem unlocking then fastboot commands. It does in my opinion disprove that it's because of the imei not being 99 though

My only issue is, I don't see that it's a 35 imei. Pics don't show it. Of course. No need for full imei, but definitely would love to see that it is a Verizon model. I know my pixel 3 is a Verizon one, and when I got it, before I even popped my sim in, I was unable to even toggle the switch. They didn't have one pre-installed in this one, I put my sim from my old phone in after it was still greyed. Had it on my wife's Wi-Fi for 30 Min before giving up
I get that and if you want private message me I'll give you my number and send whatever needed to unlock these if it's here.

What country are you in? I know that some devices in Europe can be unlocked after a certain period of time, I think 6 months or after you've paid off the contract. Something along those lines. Perhaps the IMEI are different outside the US? Nonetheless, did you buy it as a Verizon branded device either from Best Buy, Google or Verizon? If you bought it from Verizon then I'd say you got lucky as mentioned above. But suffice it to say you have done nothing that hasn't been tried hundreds of times.
USA, and I agree about it probably being luck of the draw however it is a proof of concept that it can be done. This is a Verizon branded device. Was a warranty but in store and still in the sealed box without a sim in it.
My personal feeling is there's a fastboot command that is fastboot oem rma that sets the trigger for it. They have to be able to unlock them during the RMA process for repairs right?

Where did you buy it? What do you mean by it was "a warranty"? In store sealed without a sim is extremely unusual if it was a brand new device. They all come with a Verizon sim in them afaik.
As for the fastboot rma commands, it's not necessarily the way they would do it. They could whitelist the IMEI temporarily, fastboot a factory image, then blacklist it again. Perhaps they forgot to blacklist yours. I'd say *very* lucky.
400 hours on the line with Verizon/Google I finally told them to give me a new one under warranty 5th one for various reasons and my final warranty according to them. I honestly don't think it was luck considering I even got a letter from corporate office (vzw) to cease and desist my contact with them regarding the bootloader they don't like it when you know their policies better then them and call them out for quoting policies out of thin air.
Hmm.. 400 hours? Might be time to close this thread. Sounds like a bunch of bull **** to me. Consider me trolled.

a proof of concept aka POC would mean you have process to unlock the bootloader which in this case you dont. You dont have any steps for anyone to replicate it nor do you know exactly how it was possible which means no poc can exist.
just my 2 cents of course lol
Proof of trolled more like
Sounds like a jcbizsnatch kind of story.
I'm not quite sure what happened but I was loading the android flash tool on Googles site and my OEM unlocking allowed me to toggle it on my Verizon Pixel 6 Pro. I purchased this directly through Verizon last Saturday and could not do a unlock then. I did a factory reset today to try and fix my contacts not syncing and the OEM locking button let me toggle it. I am currently flashing the full factory image from Google with a unlocked bootloader now.
Hmmm. Did you fully pay off the cost of the phone?
Perhaps Verizon is doing what they haven't done in the past and started following the paths of the other phone carriers (where your phone can be bootloader unlocked - but only once you fully pay off the phone's cost).
Of course, there is also a chance that you just got extremely lucky, haha.

Wow, that's awesome! It kinda makes me wanna switch back to Verizon, haha. Where I am currently working, you can't get service from any carriers except for Verizon. But I would hate to ditch T-Mobile and possibly lose my data in other areas outside of work...
Regardless, supposedly Google is going to give great trade-in values for purchasing the P7 and P7P... And if they provide 500-600 for the P6P (256GB model), then the P7 regular would be free. If true, this has me questioning which model P7 I should get (if the modem is actually decent and isn't the crummy old one that is in the P6 series phones, haha).
*Edit* - Just to clarify, there might be T-Mobile signal where I work. But the data strength certainly isn't strong/good in my area, hence why I am considering the upgrade =/
