Viper4Android for our ROOT Variant? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Was just curious now if we have access to Viper4Android with our version of root?
Also curious if they 80% Charge thing has been fixed and if we are able to maybe go back to stock once Viper is installed.

Yes just Google search viper4arise and flash in flash fire, no 80% not fixed. That's the trade of for having root. Yes you can go back to stock anytime my Odin stock Verizon firmware.

Hey guys. Could someone please link in this thread the proper V4Arise thread for Snapdragon, cause all I see is for TWRP etc, and none show for the Snapdragon variant. I really don't want to brick my phone after rooting. Thanks.

The V4Arise method of flashing works, you just use Flashify instead of TWRP. I used one of the zips in that page as well with no problems after installing. And to answer your previous question, if you do a full uninstall of SuperSU after installing Viper, I think it should work. The only part of Viper that ever needed root was the installing process from what I remember...

Do we have the root file for Odin yet?

APK root exploit

I tweeted this a couple week ago before the N1 was publicly out but here you go, nothing fancy, no real ui or output.
Thanks to Saurik and Giantpune for contributing (ie its based on their research)
Install apk, run apk wait 1 minute, install supersu app from market then uninstall with this command
adb uninstall com.qualcomm.privinit

It should be patched in 4.4.
But some (read most) OEMs still can't manage to patch their devices up to the latest security updates on release.
Anyway, I tested this root method a week or so ago and it works nicely

It depends on if OEMs backported it, depends on which build OEMs used and depends on the bug. Four or five different zip parser bugs with similar results. This one I used was patched in 4.3, but other exist.
Im trying to figure out why oppown apk will not install in my n1. everytime i try it just. Says app not installed. But on the install screen it says something about being an update to an already installed program. Any clues as to what the issue is? all ive done is update to the latest ota software and im currently located in indonesia if that makes a difference.

It should not come rooted, if it comes rooted then no way did it pass CTS. I'm guessing unlocking the bootloader and flashing a recovery? I don't know, I dont have one

You don't need to root if you aren't staying on stock. There's no lock anywhere on the bootloader or anything.
Simply flash TWRP in fastboot, then flash Omni (or whatever else) through TWRP.
You should be able to just flash a SuperSU zip in TWRP as well if you want to root the stock ColorOS.

Make sure to copy Omnirom to your phone at some point
3) flash it in recovery? No - Flash TWRP in Fastboot if you haven't flashed the recovery already. Use the official Teamwin site for guidance

That does work. You're likely not removing root, but rather just uninstalling SuperSU.

Is the phone rooted as well? Have you made any other modifications to the phone?
the update wont flash through twrp since its a custom recovery. (thats what I know)
anyways, assuming that you have your bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery installed, why dont you just do a backup of ur current rom and flash a new custom rom like viper or insert coin. they provide the latest updates.

You're getting different advice cause you're double-posting and not sticking to one person's advice
Me and most people do have life's families & jobs we just don't sit here to help people out as I have mentioned before I give you loads of information to help you and as so as other me members. We all wasn't born to know how to root and unlock bootloaders or get s-off some people know more and they write great information on how to do it now go and use Google and the search function what is implemented into xda to stop multiple posts.

Hi,

4.4.4 update

My apologies if I missed a thread. I am new to these parts as I just got a brand new S4 tonight and I had the dumb idea of taking the OTA that popped up right when I turned it on ,which is UVUFNH7, without a thought for the potential consequences. The build is from 8/27/14 and I can't even find it on samfirmwares.
Am I one of the first few to get this update or did I miss something?
I don't see any threads or links in the stickies about an official TW 4.4.4 update. I intend to get off TW for a GPE rom ASAP so I'm hoping I didn't screw anything up.
Could you post few screenshots, s4 t-mobile is the first to get 4.4.4 from s4 family
What was the size of ota for 4.4.4 ?
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5887
It's not a big update, mainly WiFi calling improvements plus whatever 4.4.4 and 4.4.3 adds on to 4.4.2

Here you go. The OTA was 400MB+. Can't remember exact size anymore
I have the update copied from /cache/fota but can't install it through recovery. Would I have to flash stock recovery to be able to flash the update.zip? Is there some way to flash it through CWM? Just curious? Nothing in 4.4.4. That I absolutely need but if I could do something and upload it for everyone let me know.
Can anybody check is there option now in developer options to change runtime from dalvik to art ??

I was previously rooted on stock 4.4.2 via CF-Auto-Root.
After the 4.4.4 update, it initially broke root but I was able to reroot by flashing CF-Auto-Root via Odin again. Works just fine
I wonder how this will work with the older bootloader, sans Knox.
Don't want to update to trip it.
The last LTE radio didn't work with it for audio.
Updated to Sammobile's snapshot of 4.4.4 and my radio and wifi isn't working, any suggestions?

[Q] Wanna upgrade software, what shall I do?

Hello! So, the new software upgrade has came out 10L (my version is 855 european) and I'm rooted (with IOroot). Intalled Xposed Framework and these modules: AppOpsXposed, BootManager, Complete Action Plus, G3 TweaksBox, Greenify, Instragram downloader, Keepchat, XHangouts and Youtube AdAway.
What shall I have to do to install the update that has come out? Unistall Xposed and the modules and unroot or theres other method I should do?
Thanks!
Just flash it and reroot again! Thats All!

Wouldn't it work, If I unistalled the Xposed + modules and unrooted the device, with super SU for example? And then update it OTA?
Sure, but to flash and reroot is much easier and faster!

I was just asking this, because I had a nexus 5 and once I started to flash new versions of software... I couldn't no longer update OTA, it always gave me an error while downloading.. I'm just afraid that will happen to my G3, because now I like to flash, but sometimes, I just want to download OTA and I don't like when I receive an error, because that means, something is not the way it was supose to.
But thanks
Btw do you recommend any video/ post on the forum that helps with the flash of the new version?
Thanks again

Pros and cons of each other

What happens if flash fails?

I'm somewhat certain I already know the answer to this but I just need confirmation.
With a locked bootloader, flashing anything other than stock will be unsuccessful, right? I've just rooted my t807a and am looking to get xposed running. I just don't want to brick this thing now that I've FINALLY got it rooted.
So what's the bad? What happens if I try to flash a custom recovery? Will it flash and then not work? Will it fail to flash? Will I be bricked/caught in a bootloop?
Right off the bat, let me make one thing abundantly clear: I do not care if I trip Knox. I assume the warranty is voided as soon as I take a new device out of the box so I really don't care if Samsung or AT&T finds out that I've been misbehaving.
In case it matters:
Model: SAMSUNG-SM-T807A
Android version: 5.0.2
Baseband version: T807AUCU1BOD4
Kernel version: 3.4.39-4727547
Build number: LRX22G.T807AUCU1BOD4
Device Status: Custom
Okay I'm no genius, but maybe do a search on using the app flashify to flash custom recovery (twrp) ......obviously the right file for your device.
I've used thus before on other devices and it work well but do your research . Flash at own risk.
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
DO NOT flash a custom recovery or kernel on a bootloader locked device!
Unless you want a nice brick.
If you want xposed use Flashfire.

Having trouble finding documentation on this device's partitions, which are (it seems) not quite the same as most Android devices. To make sure I can recover from (for example) a bad ROM flash, what should I backup? Is flashfire the thing to use for making such a backup?
You can use Flashfire to make a backup, but it's not going to help you in a no boot situation. Be very careful what you flash. Some things such as xposed can leave you in a no boot situation if incorrectly flashed.
My first port of call would have been capturing the ota for backup purposes. Unfortunately that is probably out of the window now you have rooted.
There is apparently a way to get kies/smart switch to redownload the firmware, so I'd be going down that root first.

If I can boot to recovery, won't I be able to access the flashfire backup on my microsd card? As long as I don't try to flash a custom recovery, shouldn't I always be able to work from that backup? Or does a flashfire backup need the flashfire app to be useable?
