Where can I find information about what this kernel does? I don't see it anything linked to in the OP.

I'm getting the same error using the USB C to USB C cable that came with the P2. I'm going to try with something else.
Edit: Strange...I used another cable with USB 3.0 and it worked. >_<
R6 up now for all of you Enjoy!
Maybe dumb, but can someone please post instructions on flashing this image? I've been out of the customization game since S4 and could use a refresher (just need to know what to name the file before flashing). TIA
Edit: bootloader is unlocked. I got that far on my own.

You don't need to rename it anything
You can either use "fastboot flash boot filename.img" or substitute boot_a or boot_b for boot to specify the slot. When not specifying it will flash the current slot.

Worked first try, thanks!!

I claim nothing all credit goes to sony and @[NUT] for his great work, i just wanted to have a prebuild version of the kernel specifically for my SPG511
Bellow i will provide link for the flashable(recovery) and also instructions on how to flash the .img file directly from fastboot
First go [NUT]'s thread and say thanks for all his hard work, if you feel like it
There you can also find instruction to get the recovery on the locked bootloader!
Let as get to work, the easiest way to get into fastboot or flash mode is using adb, i personally only use adb since i find the button combo unconftable but if you are softbreak and just need the recoveries to go back to your rom the combo is.
Code:
volume down + power
Using adb is
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
if you made it the led will be a constant blue (adb always works!)
now to flash the .img file!
1. Get the img from here, here, here or down bellow
2. use the below command
Code:
fastboot flash boot <replace this with the boot.img>
3. fastboot reboot
4. donate a beer to @[NUT] and enjoy your now dual recovery/ advanced kernel!
for the flashable zip just go into recovery and flash like any normal rom, you can get the zip from here or down below

you have to be unlocked to use this, i will post the kernel tomorrow for you but do unlock your bootloader first since it's only way to use it, if you want to keep the bootloader locked please go to the official thread and read how to add the recoveries into the locked version, it will also give you root

But before flashing, i just wanted to make sure,

2. Can use the @Grarak TWRP to flash

I would also want to try Hydrogen OS on OP3, hope it totally supports English. Anybody with the download link and procedure on how to install it.
I just tried installing it. I couldn't boot it though. The error I was getting, "Need to add google account" which I had already added.
The setup language is English, however the help text which appears are in Chinese. It still has quite a lot of Chinese characters on the keyboard as well.

Thanks to @Yash98 for the debloater and @Grarak for the TWRP.
The steps I followed:
Boot into TWRP (Grarak) and go to Wipe then Swipe to factory reset
Flash in this sequence:
1. ROM (OnePlus3Hydrogen 16 OTA 005 all 1606081524 a0822b4f73da4596): Link in the above post
2. Debloater+SuperSU (H2OS_MM_DBLOATR+SuperSU.zip) - Thanks to @Yash98. (Please look in Official Hydrogen OS post in OnePlus 2 forums)
3. Open G-Apps (I've used Nano)
Enjoy.

Dash charging did work
I used Graraks twrp to flash it
Debloater did not try.
It has permission issues, permissions apps should have are not present in the system (onedrive does not have the media permission available, play services did not have a few as well after flashing google services in twrp)
standby battery life was freaking amazing. If permissions get sorted, I will DD it in a heartbeat

Well it works, but I've gone back to my original rom only I'm not sold as to whether or not this is a genuine Android 8 rom as I noticed it making mention of Android 7.1.1 when installing. Also surprised that it would install over the top of a 7.1.2 AOSP based rom with no issues as such.
I could be wrong of course!!

It's just a build fingerprint in lineage.mk and doesn't make any sense for Google only released Android 7.1.1 for Nexus 9.
And LOS15 is in the early stage so there won't be much difference between AOSP and LOS I think

Can you post the file /fstab.flounder ?
If the problem is the option "forceencrypt" that needs to be replaced with "encryptable" in fstab files it's very easy to do. For instance with a zip that I made some time ago that disable forceencryption and dm_verity.

Typically, it will. dm-verity/verified boot is a kernel feature, hence completely related to boot.img. :good:
The file will probably patch your current boot and disable forced-encryption.

The zip will extract boot.img, replace fstab and will repack again. Check the script boot/editramdisk.sh, as you can see it replace the word forceencrypt to encryptable. All the scripts were took of FIRE-ICE or ElementalX I believe, I only removed all the parts related to zImage...
I can't flash now Lineage to test this zip, so if you can't wait, make a backup and try. All should be fine, but I don't know if anything changed in boot.img parameters (like pagesize, ramdisk_offset, tags_offset, etc...)
So far this ROM is awesome! The only bugs I've found yet are face unlock and NFC not working. Anyone who doesn't care about those issues can use this ROM as a daily driver. I'd never dreamed of such a stable unofficial 8.0 ROM until I found this one, since speaking of third-party ROMs Tegra sucks (e.g. Two gens of Nexus 7, the 2012 version with Tegra received 6.0 port while the 2013 version with Snapdragon received 7.0 port) and Google abandoned updating Nexus 9. Great thanks to the OP!
All future discussion will happen in the Pixel 2 XL thread as the kernel is fully unified!

Does this mean, for example, that something like the Krack vulnerability would have been patched much sooner than with Google's montly security patch? Or is this kernel dependent on waiting for Google's monthly releases first?

I don't block any wakelocks by default on purpose; they shouldn't really be disabled because 1. they don't make that much of a difference and 2. they are usually needed for the device to function properly. But any of the ones that EXKM shows by default should be okay to disable.
Yes, I know they are needed but just thought I would try to disable those with most wakelocks and see if I noticed any difference..

Sent from my Sony G8142 using XDA Labs
And ? It works or not ? Someone tried?
I can't boot, I'm on a G8142. Device gets to Sony screen and then glitches out. It's probably the high refresh rate mod, can you compile an image without the mod added please? Thanks!

No high framrate in Q. If you freeze at Sony Logo, you may fail to write right OEM images or fail to write vendor image to cache partition.
