Hi All. i recently bought Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, I9192 after selling my Galaxy Note2 coz i wanted Sleek Device with Good Specs and DUAL Sim. Since day 1 i m having Heating Issue on my Galaxy S4 mini, Heat is Intense while--1. Charging, 2. Opening Web Browser or Facebook, Viewing Gallery pictures or Videos and Doing Subtle tasks like Making a Word Doc. I never felt it in my Note2. So i installed Temperature App from Play Store and Saw Temps--- approx 45 Degrees (110 Degrees Farenhite). It is Impossible to Keep near Ear for Calling. Any Solution ???
Mine gets ridiculously hot as well, I would assume that the 1.7ghz dual core and gpu inside such a slim device would heat up quickly anyway. Mine get hot while charging and playing high quality games.

So what is the solution ???

If you're rooted and your kernel allows it, underclock the processor a bit. It will save you battery as well.

Mine stays around 45 degrees while using it intensively such as playing 3d games or charging while browsing the Web over cellular data.
Guess it's normal for all S4 Mini phones (I'm using the LTE variant)

S4 mini heating
Hello everyone, I brought my s4 mini gt-i9192 yestarday, after using it for some time I also felt heating issue.
the device heats up even while doing tasks like downloading apps from playstore and surfing net.
The heating is mainly near the battery (not at the camera like my s2)
I measured the temperature using DU Battery app, it was around 38-41 degree.
Usually I charge by switching off my phone... when I switched it on the temperature was 31 degree, later it gone up to 38 with casual use.
it is little uncomfortable to hold the phone coz of heating( mainly the battery).

3days
My s4 mini has worked less than one day on orginal software, it works abous 3days after the change to CM11.
Our phones are useless without modifying. Heating issue, battery drain and what not.
i've een using the i9192 for 2 days now, no heat issues.
I got two i9192's and never encounter this issue. You'd better check if the battery is faulty or genuine.
It's heating up a TON here... And usually after a few hours of usage and then leaving the apps in the background, like any normal android phone, it starts to heat up. If I reboot it, it goes back to normal so, I assume there's a software bug or something?

Not even close ... it got 24+ with whatsapping some gaming never got heat .. stock ML4 with samsung apps app disabled
I am also using a i9192 and haven't encountered this issue of heating. But if your phone is heating up,use an app called COOL MY DROID.It is a free app in play store. It really works.I have used it regularly in my galaxy Ace.
No need to download any extra app if you wanna know your device temp.. simply type: *#0228# on dialer on stock rom there will show you some battery info :good:
And my device (gt-i9195) only heated up on older Firmware, like 44 ºc.. but on lastest ML1 there was no heat!
Some Battery recomendations (based on experience on older devices):
- Don't ever EVER! heavily use your phone while charging (like intense 3d gaming or calls) this will literally kill your battery lifespan.
- Charge it only with original charger.
- Don't let the battery fully discharge, this leads to heating up while charging from 0% of battery.

what is ML1 and how to chrck it.
mine is also quite warm even when on standby. it is around 40ºc even when i'm not doing anything. 45ºc when i'm charging.
Mine heats up a bit on games otherwise it is fine. It's best to get it checked if under warranty.
Hi guys,
I have the GT-I9192 with Stock 4.2.2 - Build number JDQ39.i9192DDU1BLM1. A gift from a friend in India. Unopened package.
I have the same issue - or lets say i thought its related to the heat. On summer days CPU went up to 50°C+
In heavy apps (e.g. Waze) or after some use time (5min+ Skype) it just restarts suddenly... I cant say anything about games.
Sometime even during the restart it will restart again and again. So only thing to solve it is to take out the battery and wait for some time.
This was pissing me of a lot. Too much.
So i thought maybe a custom ROM might help. CM or something well known. So suddenly i saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790789
As i am complete Noob i just tried it - but i had a lot errors befor flashing worked. These errors were wrong MD5s, no "serranodsub" device ... and so on.
Finally (after i tried more then 10 combinations) i used Odin3 v3.07 + philz_touch_6.09.3-serranodsub.tar.md5 + cm-11-20140629-NIGHTLY-serranodsxx.zip and until now its running really smooth.
Waze no more issue, Skype I try for longer time in the evening and report back in. But until now i m quite amazed.
BTW: maybe this is off topic as the heat is still the same but i am new and cannnot post in development topics
After using the original Note, I decided I couldn't live with the battery life and decided to upgrade to the Note 2 last christmas. I was fully satisfied, and frequently got between 6 to 7h of screen time.
Sadly, since early june, I barely get half of that under normal usage (2-3 hours), and I've never been able to go a day without charging the phone. The phone is rooted but still on Rogers Canada's original firmware with the original Samsung battery.
I'm no novice to android, but I've run out of ideas. Is it normal for a battery to start loosing it's capacity after around 120 to 150 charging cycles?
1) I thought it might be related to my external microsd, because I started getting error messages that I was disconnecting, and the mediascanner process was running for an abnormally long time. I wiped the card, and the errors persisted. Finally, I removed it altogether and the mediascanner battery drain stoppped, but overall battery life didn't get any better
2) I comptetelly wiped the phone and started from scratch, reinstalling everything from the market. No change.
3) I've been checking per app battery usage with BetterBatteryStats, and I occasionnally get one misbehaving app that keeps the phone awake, so I installed Greenify to prevent a few of them from gobbling up resources. That's helped a lot, at least on BetterBatteryStats, but still the phone doesn't last longer. There is no more obviously abnormal app anymore.
4) I tough it might be related to the fact that I redirected all my work email to gmail, so I set it to manual mode, but it hasn't helped.
5) I did notice that the cpu stays either in deep sleep or at 1,1 ghz, almost without using the other speeds. I don't know that I can do anything about that with the stock kernel.
Is there something else I could be checking? The phone worked great for six months without gooing through all of that stuff, so the only thing I can think of is a hardware issue. Did I get a faulty battery?
Thanks for your insights.
Nothing lasts forever; buy a new battery
hmmm the 1.1ghz thing makes it seem like it could be a deeper issue, there is no reason it should be sticking at a frequency that high.. I would personally try to flash the stock rom fresh with odin.
That would be your issue, the high frequency, not the battery itself imo

They don't last forever if they had a beginning. . .ooooh.

I notice thst on mine im loosing juice quick when my LTE radio is on and I'm in poor coverage area. Switching to 4g/3g/2g only helps a lot. On day when I take few pics my battery takes a hit because all pictures backup performed by dropbox etc

Hi, my Pixel XL arrived last night (got it very cheap brand new) and today, the battery seems very bad. I've installed the 8.0 OTA and 2 security updates since last night and installed all the apps I need (had no issues with the same apps on my 6P) however, the phone doesn't seem to be dozing properly and seems to be draining fairly fast. When I took the phone out of the box, it was at 52% and I drained that all while updating and setting it up, with 2 hours and a half SOT. However, today, I am on a data connection, with an hour of SOT and at 65% battery.
Do I need to give it time to settle? Seems odd to me...
Thanks

I would definitely give it time to settle. If your worried about the drain you can check battery usage with an app like AccuBattery. Also some apps have not been optimized for Oreo yet. If your still seeing this in a week I would start to get more proactive on figuring out a reason why.

Gotcha. So is it not worth factory resetting yet then?
I suppose if it still is bad, I could revert back to 7.1.1 after a week. And at the very worst, I can return it within 30 days. (I don't want to return it though!!)

1) Your experience with draining 50% of battery charge while installing new OS and 2 security updates plus apps with SOT of 2.5 hours is not unusual. Just having the screen on for 2.5 hours should drain between 35 and 55% of battery of XL depending on brightness and screen content. Add to the fact that many files need to be moved in the process, and that adds even more battery drain.
2) However, an hour of SOT should not drain your battery for more than 15-25%.
3) I don't think modern Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries "settle." They are very carefully crafted, calibrated and tested at the factory. Their voltages are very consistent with regard to their capacities.
4) What you need to do is figure out what drained your battery by simply looking at the Battery page of Settings. If your biggest drain is from Phone Idle, then perhaps you are in a low cellular signal area - the phone uses more cellular chip power in such areas to maintain connection to cellular towers, and that drains significantly more battery. If your biggest drain is from Android System, you may have a rogue app that keeps your phone awake when it shouldn't. It may also be a combination of the two.
Hi all,
I am on the latest update pushed for honor 8 pro in india and having a few problems after update.
1. Battery drains fast
2. Standby battery drain (7% in 5 hours)
3.Slow charging
4. Lags while day to day use(reduced the animation to .5 to avoid it)
5.heavy lags while playing PUBG mobile even on low frame rate)
I know some people will suggest me hard resetting my phone and do some tweaks but believe me I have tried all, it still doesn't work.
Is anyone else facing the same same issues as mine ?

I am on latest oreo as well. Only issues I face are standby drain and lags while playing PUBG. Otherwise phone's overall performance is good even battery is awesome. I am attaching screenshot of Screen on time after playing Coc for 2hrs. Check it out. And for charging I don't face any issues, it charges from 3% to 100 in 1hour 50mins approx.

Thanks for reply, but I am getting 4 to 4.5 hours of SOT also observe frame lags here and there in normal uses, I have done all the optimizations that a man possibly could do.
Could it be because honor choose to eliminate heating issue by limiting the CPU and GPU performance in latest updates ?
Don't know how well PUBG was working on android 7 because I recently have started playing it, do you have any idea ?

Man, m totally irritated, when I charge my phone while using it takes me 4 hours to fully charge, even though it says "fast charging" on lock screen.
Shame Honor Shame.

Why are you using it while charging. Mine charges in 1hr 50mins from 3% to 100% but I don't use it while charging. And I never got SOT below 7hrs, even after playing 3hrs of clash of clans game for one charge cycle. For me battery performance is just awesome and overall performance as well. I don't know why you'll are facing issues.
Hi k have a xt1635-05 running the latest retail firmware on 8.0
I will upload some screen shots later after work but the battery life is dismal. Whether it was rooted or not.
It is now running magisk 19.4.
The problem is it seems the phone is using power for mobile standby as the biggest user.
Hopefully some screenshots will show what I'm up against. Was going to use xpe13 but want Moto mod functionality atm as the latest xpe 13 doesn't detect my inspico battery.
Cheers
Screenshots to follow later after work
Well downgraded to 7.0 stock at the moment and no real improvement so I'm starting to think it's the battery in the device that just isn't holding charge much nowadays. Charges to 100% fairly well but it just all depletes within about 10 hours.
Shame I have to remove the bloody screen to change the battery

You could try installing the AccuBattery app from the play store. It'll estimate the total capacity in mAh that the battery can still hold after a few charges.
I normally use accubattery and was going to install that next. Will report back with results in about a week
Battery drain and charging with Moto turbo charger and my first day with accubattery on this device.
What other apps can I use to see if I can find what's causing this kind of drain??
Tbh it all looks the same on 8.0 as well which leads me to believe maybe the battery is shot and although chargers to 100 fairly easily (old nexus 6p struggled past 80% and took over an hour to get to 100 from 80) this just screams that the battery needs replacing like my axon 7 needed.
Any thoughts??
How do I upload what processes are running etc from terminal? I can root it again if needs be
