S6 CF-Auto-Roots are available from the repository at http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ !
Nice, looking forward for it
Will test as soon as my device arrives.
I am afraid of this statement:
Before actually rooting though, consider that KNOX will likely be tripped, and there's a good chance untripped KNOX will be required for phone based payments.

Can someone that has a T-Mobile S6 please test this?! If so, then I honestly might not root my S6 -_- unless someone comes up with a way to not trip Knox.
The s6 is out now?
No, but there are enough engineers at service centers, distributors, inside Samsung itself, who already have one, leak the necessary files, and test the roots, for this to be available already.
thank you chainfire you do the best for all users

Hiya CF.
Awesome work!
Me=Big Fan.
Silly question. I just per-ordered a T-Mobile GS6 Edge (128). I would very much like to root it. If you could, would you link the correct download from your repository for this particular Phone/Model?
Thanks,
-NJ
Does this require wipe? Bootloader unlock?
What is the model number of the S6 (Tmobile) if any one knows?

Can confirm the model number. Guess root isn't available yet. Not used to using browser without adblock
Not working here either. I just received my T-Mobile GS6 today and I can't get it to apply the root. Odin just keeps failing.
Could it be the out-of-the-box OTA we received? Or was this ever actually working?

Man, that is some shady looking **** right there. Let me know how it goes haha.
Tried root it failed on me.
My guess is as of right now it only works for the N920AUCU1AOGG firmware, it is the original firmware that came when the phone was introduced. Now everyone is rocking the N920AUCU2AOJ1 firmware that came out some time in between September - December.
If you search for the firmware available in chimera root tool, the one they have is the original one OGG. I guess the only way for this to work is to downgrade then run the utility.

maybe I'll try the unroot option after my 3 hours runs out? don't see much harm in hacking this thing up anymore...
factory reset via recovery and restoring from smart switch did nothing. other than wipe away my screen and app drawer settings :'p

Yep, doing that now, LOL.
I remember this was doable on the Galaxy S7 but have not had a Samsung phone since -- I currently have a Verizon Galaxy Note 8 and would like to remove the Verizon Bloat and flash the Unlocked Firmware if this still works via ODIN? If yes does anyone have a link to the firmware (US Unlocked) that can be downloaded.
Thanks!!

Does that unlocked firmware have the bootloader unlocked or allow you to root?
No and No, sadly.
It worked for me. I have the verizon version directly from samsung (not sure if this is different from the one directly from Verizon) . I flashed the unlocked firmware without any issue using the firmware and "Prince Comsy’s Odin" they have on the page BlueFox721 posted.

It depends...sometimes in the past they were forced to use older firmware to root which may have been the cause for performance...we have to wait and see...so far things I have tested on my own have same performance because all firmware is basically the same kernel...after roms come out and devs can put in tweaks, there should be performance boosts...some may even be better than stock...im sure someone will post a rooted stock image that should perform same as being stock w/out root...still, we have to wait and see.... the only issue I see is the 80% battery charge after root...although, I am curious as to whether or not it is just superficial and 80% is actually 100%...on the S8+ it is actual 80% and a charge to 100% must be completed in upload mode...it will get ironed out though...it's interesting that this method does not trip knox...which is awesome
Ive done the same but i Just figured out, that the option "calle id & antispam is grayed out, hence i cannot activate it. Is there a way to fix it?

I had a performance issue after gaining root for the Verizon S6 Edge but that ended up being easily fixed by using a CPU editor to set the kernel frequencies correctly.. I'm pretty sure you know what I mean about the CPU governors though. If I recall after rooting it, somehow the governor was set to powersave and setting it back to interactive sorted that out quickly.

It would be awesome to get kernel access for optimization but I believe that would require unlocked bootloader...I did some kernel mods on my Nexus, Thunderbolt, Note 3, and my Wife's devices as well...I'm going to be theming and trying my hand at developing a Rom (have not done one yet...only compiled AOSP)...I would love to learn kernel and bootloader code....we'll see about kernel access after root...

I recently bought an AT&T G8 on eBay and no matter what I try, I can't update it. It's still on the factory update. I've had an activated AT&T SIM in it for several days, tried using other SIMs, factory resetting a few times, but I still get the same error that says it can't update or there's just no update. I've tried calling tech support there and going into a store, but they were out of ideas too. Does anyone have a link to any update to try installing or any ideas for how to get it to update?

so has anyone flashed this firmware manually via LGUP to their AT&T g8 and was successful? does everything get wiped?
So I've bought a couple of these att LG g8. The problem was that I am on cricket so no updates. This has been a fool proof way I've found to get the updates moving.
I put in an activated (I didn't add any money to my att account) att sim, 10 bucks from Walmart. I issue a factory reset and skip all setup (except connecting to WiFi). Check update as soon as I am through setup. If it works great ,if not repeat. It's worked on 3 phones so far.
