Alright so I have had this phone for well over a year and it has been bricked since I got a hold of it. A friend gave it to me to fix and never asked for it back and since I have had my iPhone I have missed having an android to play with :crying:
It is stuck in a bootloop thing (It shows samsung and when the andorid flies up it freezes and resets) I have been trying to reflash it with odin for ages but gave up and finally decided to seek help after days of googling and searching
If I boot holding VOL + and VOL - , all it does it boot into recovery mode (and I have wiped everything and reflashed the rom on the internal sd card successfully) but it still does the same thing. I have also tried booting in other ways (Such as HOME and VOL +, and HOME and VOL - , but it just goes to the boot loop. I need some ideas because this iPhone is getting broing
Does the phone use the stock recovery? And if you are needing to hold the home button to enter anything, I think you got the wrong forum as the SGH-T989 only requires the VOL Down key to be held to boot into recovery. Are you sure your device is not the I9100?
I am having a problem with my phone. I installed CM 11 on it via TWRP 2.6.3 but for some reason the flash didn't workout well and the phone was stuck in the boot animation. The problem is now I am not able to access bootloader because of a faulty vol down button. Before it would work some time, but now have tried it several times but can't do any thing. It just recognizes the power button press and turns the phone on and it gets stuck in bootloader. How do I get in recover to solve this problem.
Any advice?

Or u could use back button + power aswell and get there first try, no point killing the button even more.
My phone kept getting "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectly, so i went into recovery and wiped cache and also fixed permissions and tried to reboot. Phone went to bootloop, never powers on. I try to hold power button and vol up and the phone vibrates and takes me to htc screen and then goes back to boot loop. I do not know how to get into recovery, please help?? Lollipop HTC One M8
Try holding power + volume down when the phone powers on, that should bring you into bootloader
I just installed flashify and TWRP. When I let flashify reboot the phone, it stuck at the main boot logo. I can get it to briefly reboot with vol down + power, but it just hangs back at the same screen. I tried holding vol up + power + home during that brief period of time but nothing happened.
Any ideas?

I'm experiencing this too, I installed stock firmware and it is still doing this. I need to access recovery so I can clear cache and partition but this damn phone refuses to get to recovery mode. It'll go to download mode no problem, but trying to get to recovery mode is just impossible this way. Anybody???
Hi I was running the Cyanogen Mod Nightly for my phone, and hadn't updated it for about a week. When I went in to my settings to update it, I downloaded the latest one and when it was done it prompted me to start it, so I did. It got to about 2%, and after that it's been looping in boot. The screen flashes on and off instantly every 5 seconds. Power + Volume Up works, it shows the HTC screen and says it's going into recovery, but then it just loops in boot again.
Is there any fix/hope for my phone?
Press power + vol up, and as soon as the screen goes black, press and hold power + vol down. You will boot into the bootloader. from here you can flash an RUU to go back to stock

So I tried doing this, but nothing happened.
I did however, fix my problem, by holding down Power + Volume Up until it showed the initial "Booting into recovery" screen (which was failing), but kept holding Power + Volume Up until the Battery Charging screen showed up (I had it plugged into my PC). Once I let go, it rebooted the phone normally, and started up Cyanogenmod. Now the phone works, so I am going to back up my data, and switch to a non-nightlies version (or just never update).
Thank you!
Next time if you are in a bootloop, just holding vol down during the next restart cycle will get you to bootloader.
If the buttom combo (Power+vol up to force a restart, then just hold vol down to go to bootloader) doesn't work, its virtually always due to getting the timing wrong (either not pressing vol down soon enough, or letting go too early). And the fact it was looping makes the timing tricky. But holding vol down during a bootloop (restart) will always get you to bootloader.

I already tried that, it would automatically go back into a bootloop. And I tried your second option, which also didnt work. The only way I personally was able to fix it was having it plugged in, holding Volume Up + Power through the bootloader screen (which would crash) until the battery icon with the red disclaimer text showed up. Then it would reboot without going to bootloader (Pretty sure the Cyanogenmod tried to get it to this and failed).
Still cant get it to update without crashing so im just going to flash a new rom.
