Domestic unlock on rooted Sprint S6 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Long story short, I signed up for T-Mobile and ordered a Pixel 2 which will not arrive until a few weeks. I want to temporarily use my Sprint S6 for the time being with the T-Mobile sim card.
I have the Sprint version of S6 (SM-G920P) which I paid off and requested a Domestic Sim Unlock. I got an email that my phone was successfully unlocked, but I'm not sure what they do over the air or will it even work on my rooted S6.
current situation: sim card invalid message when I shove in the Tmobile sim.
Can someone chime in and tell me if this is possible? Will I have to go back to stock before this can happen?
thanks

Oh man
I had the same issue. My nephew threw my TMO phone and it was unusable, so my sister gave me her old S6 since she upgraded.
I did the same as you, had them unlock it, got an email but no way to enter a code or anything, searched forever found out you have to be on the sprint network, so wifi wont work, and no service wont work. Then you have to click the three prompts to update PRL and whatever else then lastly click that UIUC unlock, then they said it will get a prompt that the unlock was good then all youd have to do is turn off the phone, replace Sprint SIM with the TMO SIM and i'd be good to go. But it never worked, I was in the Sprint store for an hour, even read their guide with them saying it had to be on Sprint then click the UIUC unlock before placing the new sim in. They kept blaming TMO even thought their sim goes in after an unlock. So I wish you better luck than I had and hope you get it going lol.

Unlock question for my At&T S3?

I've had my S3 about 5 months, I bought it retail from ebay from a seller that didn't unlock it, it is still tied to AT&T. I use Straight Talk as my service as at&t or T-moblie will work with out unlocking them. I want to unlock my phone now and have a question.
Beings that the micro sim in my phone is straight talk and is working, how do I unlock my phone? from what I've read about unlocking, you need to have a NON-WORKING sim to be able to unlock it. Or is there a way to unlock it with out a sim in it?
thanks for your time.
You actually need a Sim that is not att, to unlock. You will need the unlock code from att or you can buy them on the internet. I was able to get my unlock code for my S2 from att. You have to have the phone on their service for at least 6 months, you call them say you are going out of the county for a few weeks, and bam!, they give you the unlock code.
Once you have the code, you need to put in an activated sim from another provider other than att, when you turn the phone on you'll be asked to enter unlock code. Enter the code, hit enter, bam unlocked.
This won't work with a sim that is not active.
So if you have a straight talk sim in, and have for six months, and its working, and its a i747, then I think you have a unlocked phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
just to clarify, you do NOT have to have AT&T for any given amount of time before you receive an unlock code.
i was an AT&T customer for all of 10 days and got my unlock code for my Galaxy S3. it is VERY dependent on the agent you speak to for asking for an unlock code.
anyways, since you are using Straight Talk, you should have an unlocked phone. best way to test is try to put a different SIM card in it and see what happens.
I was told my device was "ineligible" to be unlocked. AT&T sucks.
If you don't want to waste time talking to a rep that may or may not help you, use this method, it's easy and free: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982 (it's for the Note II but it works on the AT&T S3). You don't need a non-working sim for this method to work, but you won't know if it worked until you put in a non-working sim.
Also, you'll likely only get Edge network on T-Mobile unless you happen to be one of the lucky few in an areas where you can get 3G or H+.
But as posted in other threads, if you're going to call AT&T, call their International Support line: 1-800-335-4685 (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962453&page=16 )

T-mobile device unlock app not working

So I called tmobile and requested my gs6e to be unlocked. I got the email that the unlock is ready with instructions on how to use the tmobile device unlock app. But it keeps saying, "Unlock Failed". I called csr and they don't have a clue why it's not working and told me I could exchange it for another phone. Apparently, they cannot give an unlock code to enter and I have to go through their app to unlock.
Curious, has anyone successfully used the Tmobile device unlock app to unlock their gs6e yet?
I have had 2 emails saying I am good to unlock the phone and the app won't let me unlock. I am as frustrated as you. Do you have a plan with tmobile? I am wondering if I need to use a existing tmobile nano sim with a data plan since I don't have one and am doing pay as you go
I got mine unlocked!
I had $100 in a prepaid account. App didn't work for 4 days. I called tmobile and asked for a supervisor who did the override.
Ran the app and immediately was unlocked. They wanted a 14 day period for the return window, and said they couldn't do any more
I asked for the supervisor and it was done in seconds. I'm on at&t, working as expected

Yes I have the $50 plan with 1gb lte with tmobile. I'm also a new customer and haven't reached the 14 days window yet. Got the phone only 4 days. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Does the device unlock app works on WIFI?
I'm outside the US and the unlock email they send says: "must be connected to the internet via a cellular network in order to complete the steps"
Since I'm prepaid there is no data roaming so it will be impossible for me to connect to a data network.
Has anyone tried to unlock over wifi? or outside the US?
Thanks!

The app itself does need to be connected to the T-Mobile cell tower during the unlock process. However, T-Mobile should still provide you with the unlock code. I unlocked mine with an unlocked code provided by the T-Mobile Customer Service Agent. Ask the agent for the code, plug in another SIM card and unlock. Don't use the app.

Thanks! I think then my issue is the 14days. I have called Tmobile 3 times today and all the supervisors told me that they are not able to take out the 14 days restriction. They elevated the issue to the unlock department to request the code without the app.
How did you introduced the code? did you use the: #7465625*638*# command? I received a code from cellunlock it works if I don't have a sim card on the phone "unlock successful" but as soon as I put a new sim and the device is restarted it says again that the sim card can't be recognized.
I called tmobile and they escalated unlock issue to a supervisor but I was also told the same restriction about the 14 days before they can do an override to unlock

Can you share more details? What did you say to them? Curious how you were successful or very lucky. [emoji3]
Ok, I successfully unlocked my T-Mobile Galaxy S6 with the app, heres the steps I took to achieve this,
1. paid the phone off in full
2. paid 2 months ahead on my plan
3. contact customer support via chat and had the rep put an unlock request in
4. waited for about 12 hours and I got my unlock email explaining how to use the unlock app
5. multiple attempts of unlocking with the app was met with failure
6. called T-Mobile tech support (make sure you ask for tech support, customer care has no idea what there doing) and explained to them you received the unlock email and the app was not working
7. heres the hard part, your going to be on the phone with tech support for about a half hour while they try to understand why a phone cant be unlocked with an unlock code (its like these people are unaware of how these phones work), you have to just hold out and play dumb the entire time. they will eventually transfer you to the unlock department and youll be done in about 30 secs
I now have a fully unlocked phone working on AT&T. Feel free to ask me any more questions.

Do they really transfer you to the unlock department? they keep telling me that they can only reach the unlock department via email and there is no way the can transfer me, give me an email or call this department. I keep receiving the email to unlock the device but since I'm inside the 14 days remorse period I'm unable to unlock. Any recommendation on how should I get in contact with the unlock department?
Thanks!
Was told the same thing about the 14 days restriction. Curious how to get to talk to the unlock dept

T-mobile keep telling me that there is no unlock code for my device, that the only way to unlock is connected to a DATA network in the US. They are telling me that I will need to send my phone back to the US. Were you really able to unlock it with a code? how did you even enter the code? Thanks.
How to Enter Unlock Code for TMOBILE USA (Galaxy S6 / S6 EDGE)(G920T / G925T)
I think this is what everyone is looking for right?
Or at least hoping for someone to tell them that it's possible to Unlock TMOBILE USA Galaxy S6 / S6 EDGE (G920T / G925T)
I have about 5pcs of TMOBILE USA Galaxy S6 EDGE (G925T) and trying to unlock as well.
Already purchased only (One) Unlock Code to try one of the 5pcs of TMOBILE USA Galaxy S6 EDGE (G925T):
This is what I found online this morning: (SEE LINK BELOW)
https://blog.unlockbase.com/unlock-samsung-galaxy-s6-tmobile-usa/
I guess it's plain and simple way to say.
TMOBILE USA Galaxy S6 EDGE (G925T) has a CUSTOM FIRMWARE that prevent the "SIM NETWORK UNLOCK PIN" box from popup so you can Enter Unlock Code.
===================================================
The way around this is: (SIMILAR LIKE: TMOBILE GALAXY AVANT)
Use Newest ODIN-Flash-MetroPCS Firmware (S6 / S6 EDGE)
Reboot
Then "SIM NETWORK UNLOCK PIN" box will popup
Enter "Unlock Code"
REFLASH back with ORIGINAL TMOBILE USA STOCK FIRMWARE.
Enjoy.... (Will Remain Unlock)
I CANNOT verify this method just yet because METROPCS Firmware for Galaxy S6 EDGE is NOT AVAILABLE yet.
I will confirm this once I get my hand on METROPCS Firmware for the S6 EDGE.
Can someone with TMOBILE GALAXY S6 (G920T) test out this method and confirm ?
Hopefully this will calm or make it a good news for everyone with TMOBILE USA Galaxy S6 / S6 EDGE.
Cheers !
This appered yesterday. The site says that we check later for the rom for S6 Edge, as you said.
I am one of those waiting for the rom, just to try it. Hope we can confirm or denied this later.

carrier unlocking AT&T from KitKat

Haaa, AT&T! So my AT&T Note II has been off contract since I got the Nexus 6 back in November on launch day (perfect timing, eh?) Anyhow, since it was off contract, I asked the death star for the unlock code through their web page specifically for that, and they gave it to me. In the instructions included with the code, they gave a very terse warning that after five tries it would be permanently locked to AT&T. Why? Pretty crappy if you ask me. Further, what they didn't tell me was that if the phone is on KitKat, the unlock code won't work unless you do some very specific things in some hidden menus. So I burned up my five tries and failed. Then I found the page that listed the specific steps, did them, and voila... unlocked. Tried and tested using the Tmobile sim from my wife's iphone 6. Freaking AT&T.
Rant alert:
I commonly switch my old grandfathered AT&T unlimited iphone data sim back and forth between old phones just for fun. But come to find out, if I put the same sim into my cellular 2014 ipad air, it will not work. But if i put my wife's Tmobile sim into my 2014 ipad air, it works great. AT&T blocking tablet data with a phone sim. Tmobile doesn't. Freaking AT&T. They suck. If I didn't have the grandfathered unlimited data plan from back in 2007, i'd dump them like a bucket of pig slop.

so what are you trying to do, carrier unlock your note 2 which is currently on kitkat, to use any sim?
unfortunetly, the only way you can do this is to flash, using odin and in download mode, the stock 4.1.1 rom of your carrier (or any which has 4.1.1) from here and then doing the following steps from here.
Only thing is, that it will cause you to trip the counter.... and doesn't seem to want to go back to 0 (due to some hardware thingy)... but since you're already out of warranty, shouldn't really matter.
Anyways, once you have completed that, and tested with a different sim and confirmed it working, you can then go ahead and flash back the kitkat rom (4.4.2) of your carrier (or any other you want) using odin again and that's it. your phone will be back to its official state minus the knox warranty counter still at 1.
edit: Unfortunately.... the speed of the downloads of the images SUCK for the rom images... stupid hosting site.... anyways i had to leave it overnight... which i'd recommend you doing if you cant find any other location with those images...
No mate, my note 2, IS carrier unlocked. Att gave me the unlock code after my contract ended. Their instructions for using it were incomplete if you had ungraded to KitKat which I had, but I figured it out and now I have full carrier unlock.
What I have not solved is being able to put my att phone sim into my att iPad and have it work. If I put my wife's T-Mobile phone sim into my iPad, it works fine. So it is att that doesn't let us swap our sim back and forth between phone and tablet. T-Mobile doesn't do this. Not sure if Sprint and Verizon have the same hostile altitude.
I have grandfathered att unlimited data form the original iPhone. But their douchey attitude about swapping the sim between phone and tablet may be enough to drop them altogether if project fi works out for me.

Sprint Galaxy S6 (G920p)

So I have contacted spring 20 times, they have confirmed my SM-G920p is domestically unlocked. Getting a sim from AT&T and it says invalid Sim. I've searched everywhere, some forums say do a paid service (im fine with) others say unlocking from sprint works....which is obviously doest for my phone.
Anyone actually sucsefully unlocked a spring galaxy s6 (g920p.20) and used it on AT&T network? If so can you give me the details?
Thanks!
Question. Why on this phone in the network mode does it have options to use CDMA, LTE/CDMA, GSM, GSM/UMTS?
GSM AT&T works fine Idk why ppl say it doesn't work I have H2O which uses AT&T and I get LTE. Use a website called willmyphonework to find answers on stuff like this
This is the first website I've created to post about this topic. I've spent the past few days researching and testing out things. So far I've only found a few post online saying it works....I've not heard much about the sm-G920P NOT working on other networks. Also the phone itself is not made for CDMA or GSM ONLY.
One thing is for sure, one of my sm-G920p is domestically unlocked from Sprint. They also gave me a MLS or MSL# or whatever even though I dont think it matters. This phone will not take any AT&T sims. It says invalid sim.
With another sm-G920p, I rooted it and unlocked it another way...obviously not involving sprint. I will test it this evening to see if it accepts AT&T's sim card and will post my findings.
The whole reason for this is we have a business that goes though phones due to physical damage. I have a couple left over phones that I've replaced the screen on myself. I would like to let my sister and fiance use the galaxy S6s as they have old phones! All of these phones have been paid in full FYI and our account is in great standing.
Okidoki. I have spent some time working on unlocking a Spring Galaxy S6 SM-G920P with stock firmware ending in QB1. At first I found out that US carriers now have to unlock your phone if you ask. At first I went that route as it seemed legit. I called Spring and got a guy on the phone from tech support. I gave him the DEC# on the back of the phone and he said "Great thanks.....its unlocked." I though sick!...went to AT&T next day and got a nano sim activated. Once entered the phone read "Invalid Sim". I got back on the phone with sprint quit quickly while at AT&T. The lady said she had to send in a ticket to get it unlocked and the guy before definitely did not unlock it. Went home and went online again. Next day the lady called me at 11am and said it was domestically unlocked. I called back an hour later and talked to someone else confirming it was unlocked. Went to sprint, installed new activated sim...."Invalid Sim". Next thing was to root it and try unlocking it myself.
I found out how to root the phone and install custom firmware and whatnot. Its fairly easy, similar to computer basics. Once that was done I unlocked the phone with a little help which was not hard to find. I went to AT&T and BOOM!!! Phone worked RIGHT away. I was blown away. The phone had voice, data, msg, voice mail 3g and lte. Had my fiance put in her google info.....FYI this is my fiances AT&T account and a spare S6 I had that i fixed the screen on. Anyway she put her google account into it and restarted the phone. At the "samsung" logo login little red letters at the top say something about FRP is locked. The way you bypass this is right after you unlock the phone you need to go into the developer options and enable OEM Unlock. This fixes the lockout. But to get back into the phone once you lock it out you have to re root the phone with its original firmware.
It has worked all evening. Thanks Jhoward you gave me that last little boost today to get it working. I know the SM-G920P phone works in every network so I have no idea why people think it can only work on one network. Something I did learn is that these are little computers.....pretty cool!
If anyone needs any more info pm me.

They lie. It took me 5 calls and many hours to get one of my 2 s6 unlocked. There is some problem with original activation date on some of the phones.
They said both were unlocked but only one worked.... Until finally tech support fixed the activation date.
Now both work on T-Mobile very well
sprint is a little ***** when it comes to unlocking devices. i have never successfully unlocked a device from them. they will run circles of confusion around you just so you won't unlock.

Hello localphit, can you help me do the same with my Galaxy S6 G920P. Mines in currently on android 7.0 Patch January 1, 2018. Appreciate all the help that you can give.

Does VZW allow N975F international variants on their network? [Update: YES!* (YMMV)]

I'm looking to get a Note 10+ phone that can be bootloader unlocked & rooted, but I'm tied to Verizon.
Anyone using either the N976F or N975F on VZW? Any issues or tricks in order to get them to accept something other than the "V" variant that is locked down and may never have root?
Trying to figure out which of these 3 Note 10+ phone variants to go with:
N975F
N976F
N9750/DS
TIA.
UPDATE: Not officially, but it seems possible. Keep reading below for my experience...
I'm on the n9750 on Verizon and it seems to be working well. I just got it so I haven't got to fully test quite yet.
Just for reference, I wanted to post this for others since I wasn't able to find true compatibility details other than VZW's ironfisted "certified" devices (ie the locked SM-N975U):
I recently purchased a Samsung Note 10+ (SM-N975F/DS) international variant online, and was able to get successfully attached to my VZW account. I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, and was replacing an existing phone on my account.
Here's how it went down:
Initially when I tried to activate and attach the N10+ to my account via VZW website, it told me the phone couldn't be registered on their network.
Took my phone to a local VZW store.
Told the rep I bought a new phone and needed it attached to my account.
He validated my account details (he never asked for the IMEI of my new phone) & grabbed a new sim card, did his thing on the VZW tablet terminal and then popped the sim into my new phone.
At this point, the LTE data worked almost immediately, however the voice calling didn't work. Test calls just failed and quickly exited the phone app saying call failed/ended.
He said wait a couple minutes, sometimes it takes a bit, so we did. I think we also rebooted too. He was checking various things on my phone and the account.
He noticed that the VZW system said my phone couldn't be used on their network, but said there was something he could try...
He took the sim out of my phone and popped it into his already activated VZW phone. After a maybe 30 seconds, he made a test voice call, and it worked (my sim, his phone)
Then we swapped my newly activated sim back into my new phone and after about 30 seconds, I had both LTE data (as before) and now also had voice calling. A quick test call from my phone confirmed and I was good to go!
Obviously, YMMV, but it can be done, you just might need to find a VZW rep that is helpful and willing to go the extra mile to get the international version (SM-N975F/DS) activated onto the Verizon network.
