I have a verizon 4g lte phone with a sim card. This sim card works in other lte phones. I just ordered a verizon xperia play. I read that it has a sim card slot. I also read that the sim card slot doesnt work. Will my sim card work in the verizon xperia play r800x model? How can i make it work? There shouldnt be any unlocking needed as everything is verizon here. Ive searched everywhere but havent found an answer.
No The SIM card slot doesn't function on the Verizon variant of the r800. It's got a slot but it should have a fake card in it
Actually it's just empty if you remove the cover, if you try to insert something in it, it will get lost inside the phone and rattle in it.

Well mine has a piece there. That's why I mentioned it... Not to say that it's not empty.
Is there a separate tray for the sd card or does the sim tray double up as sd card tray? which means you can either use 2 sims or 1 sim and sd card, I've not seen any info relating to this online.
Also does dual sim zap battery life quicker then standard model?
Also which models is best suited for EE network?
Currently I'm using UK standard model which i'm quite happy with.
thanks

- Separated trays. Also, sim cards/microsd flap is longer than the standard model

- I'm not sure since I only have the dual sims one. However, If I turn off one sim card, the battery is drained slower.
Sooooooo I've noticed there is 2 variants maybe more but the 2 I've noticed are single SIM and Hybrid SIM
Does the single SIM also have a microsd slot? Or do I have to get the hybrid version ?
The single SIM version should have a SD card slot.
Get a hybrid dual SIM version if you can, often it doesn't cost any more though not offered in all markets.

Both have the ability to use a micro SD card the hybrid version allows you to use 2 Sims at the same time or 1 SIM card and 1 SD card, get the hybrid SIM it costs the same

I don't believe so. While the slot 2 is large enough for a micro Sim, I believe it wouldn't work. Slot 1 uses a nano Sim and slot 2 either a nano Sim or micro SD card. The SD card is oriented one direction and the Sim is oriented a different direction in the 2nd slot. I've never seen an adapter that would make the nano sit sideways in the 2nd slot and I doubt that old micro Sim would trim down that much without cutting into the metal. Surely your carrier will replace the old card with a newer all-in-one Sim.
Maybe the folks that have a dual sim phone will have more of an idea on this.
Hi @Tel864
I thought maybe something like that for S9:
https://www.amazon.com/UTP-Universal-Adapter-Extender-Android/dp/B07C7G35L6
where i can attach this in the sim slot and put my micro sim extern

I've never seen that. Something like that may work but I'm not sure about that one since it's for a different brand. When I searched for Galaxy S9 Sim card adapter in Google I did get lots of hits so you might try that. The one you posted is from a 3rd party seller so I'm not sure how easy it would be to return.
If you look at the different sizes of sim card, full sized, micro and nano have the same pin layout, it is just the plastic borders that differs. It could be a bit risky but you could cut the plastic edge off and make them into a nano sim without any trouble. I've done this and it works perfectly on my s9. Don't know if the chip under the contact pad is bigger on older sims though.

People have recently been reporting those adapters being recognised by the OS and rejected with a warning about a problem with the SIM Tray
Why not just get the SIM card replaced with a Nano SIM?
Or trim it yourself if the chip itself is small enough

Might work, but some of those old Sims had a larger contact area, especially those 16 year old ones like he has.
Just to let people know, I used a $1 "Hybrid Double Dual SIM Card Micro SD Adapter" and it works fine, my second SIM is recognized and I still have my SD card
Can you post a direct link, just for sure.
I bought this one, there is dozens on AE or eBay etc. It's just a "SIM slot extender", no electronic inside, but it works well.
