You can't call it heating. Yes, it gets warm a bit and that's normal because it has got a metal back.

yes of course it has metal body. But my doubt is even oneplus 5 has a metal body, there is no heating issue.
According to this Honor has to find the solution right?

There are certain things that add up this heating effect.
Honor 8 pro is slimmer than OP5 and so, more compactly placed components.
Also maybe honor 8 pro hasn't more materials inside to spread the heat evenly.
The GPU is under more stress because of 2k resolution I feel.
Also, as far as I can feel, honor isn't throttling the performance due to heat and thus, it gets warm as the pressure on the chip goes over a certain limit.
These are my thoughts.
And I am really not worried about the phone getting warm unless it's not unbearable.

Me too have Honor 8 Pro, i can feel warm even without opening camera or heavy apps. i don't know why. i am getting noticeable warm even using whatsapp for continuously more than 4 or 5 mins perhaps i disabled all the Background app by Greenify app. In this case Honor has to give serious update.

Strange. The phone doesn't get warm on normal usage like whatsapp using or browsing.
Don't use any type of apps to hibernate the other apps as it puts more pressure because that app keeps running.
Android is now properly evolved to handle all this.

The 4K is exactly what I'm kind of missing in video recording. I'm satisfied with the photo and basic video quality however I have devices at home where I could watch back 4K recordings - if I had any.
I've got a 4K monitor, so I would have appreciated 4K video inclusion as well. :/

No, or not that much however your friend at least have the option to record in 4K. As far as I know some Sony smartphones limits the lenght of the video in 5 min due to the heat, I could imagine some limitations here as well and let the customer decide what he want to do.
The hardware should be capable of it I think my friend's OnePlus X can do it (with an unofficial mod) and the CPU-GPU is weaker.
I still love the camera but if I could wish something this would it be

My friend's Z3 has a camera of 21 MP. Astounding. Maybe that's why it heats up that much.

I recorded a 6:30 1080p60 video to test. The phone got warm in the camera area, but I wouldn't describe it as "hot." I don't have an infrared thermometer to give an exact figure though.

Interesting. My friend's Z3 goes so hot that the phone shutdowns itself to cooldown
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 3 using XDA Labs
The Z3 has a Snapdragon 801 which has some overheating issues in general, I think? It could also just be the difference that it's using 28nm tech instead of 16nm that uses less power. Or the Honor is encoding the video using a dedicated video encode/decode circuitry block entirely or more so than the Z3 which might use more of the CPU cores to encode video and consume more power doing so?
edit: Hopefully that made sense. I just got home from work and need a nap. Playing back 4K video on my PC uses ~25W with CPU decoding versus 5W with different software that uses my GPU.

That's a well know bug on the Z3. I think it was corrected in a firmware update. SD810 is just a hot poorly developed SOC.
From my brief testing with H8, it doesn't heat up as nearly as Z3.
I recommended him to root his device to solve the overheating or at least reduce it. But he said he doesn't want his phone modified in such way.

It should be normal.
Use Battery Spy app and track the temperature. Keep the app in the background, record a film, then check the app for the temperature variation.
Should be around 50Âșc.
Can test Antutu or PCmark in loop and compare temperatures to video recording.
Just let it cool down between tests.

I will second this question. Most importantly the Axon has these potential issues:
1) A dim display. A review tested the Axon 7 and got only 319 nits at max brightness. This is half of what the Note 7 gets for max nits on manual brightness settings.
2) Poor reception on both cell service and wifi signal. This is because of the metal build. Yes, there are bands built into the metal frame for the antennas, but in another review the Axon 7 had 30 to 40% worse reception than the Note 7.
3) SD card is not able to install apps. Not a big deal really, 64 gb is enough for apps IMHO.
4 The virtual buttons are not backlit and are too close together. Again, something a person can live with.
So #1 and #2 are pretty big problems with the Axon 7. It is a nice looking phone with very nice specs and seems to work well. The battery could have been a little bigger but not a huge deal. And it is not IP rated so water will kill it. Also, the demand has risen for it, it is backordered and/or raised in price on Amazon from it's original price.
Actually I like the a7 a lot. I bought the v20 but have drifted back to the axon again . Screen brightness is fine IMHO. I Haven't had a reception issue. Virtual buttons took notice at all to get used to. Still miss my n7. A friend hasn't given his up yet and it's still better than anything else.

Getting increasingly frustrated with Samsung. How could they mess up such a basic thing as - their phone explodes!! Looking at what else is out there is making me nervous. Everyone plans to offer 6GB ram, 4000 mah battery seems to be on the rise too. And Samsung is coming up with these when? In one whole year??? Dammit if there was a IP68 device with those sepcs coming right now and blue...I would have to bite. I would just have to make notes with my finger and forget the rest of pen functions. Ugh.
The comparisons between Honor 8 Pro and OP5 are going overboard but I am still left with some serious questions:
1. Has anyone's Honor 8 Pro survived drops? The Gorrila Glass 3 doesn't convince me 100%.
2. The OP5 seems to be resistant to water droplets/mild water contact. Does the Honor 8 Pro survive the same?
3. The most important question though is how serious and common is the heating issue? Some are okay with it, some say its dangerous. Can someone explain how badly it heats when using the camera and playing games?
I am in love with the Honor 8 Pro. If the above worries dont turn out to be very serious, I will be glad to be a part of this forum

Regarding the first 2, I don't think anyone will do it on purpose for test. Device screen getting shattered on drop is pure luck. Well, gorilla glass 3 is more scratch resistant than shatter resistant. Gorilla glass 5 is more shatter resistant than scratch resistant. ?
The phone does warm up a bit upto 43 degree Celsius according to reviews. It's upto you whether you find that comfortable or not.

I guess heat on"metal" phone is perhaps a good thing as it means heat is being dissipated via back case.. no?

1) I have survived a drop. I am not used to such smooth back finish and I was casual on taking it out of my pocket and it slipped on solid floor and not even a scratch, neither on the back or the glass. Phewww! Escaped!
2) We are having monsoon here and now n then it has again survived the drizzle and wet pockets.
3) The heating issue is quite normal. After almost 2 weeks, according to my use, it seems now there is not much noticeable heating. On the first few days, I was crazy on VR, streaming in FHD and 2k, games and stuff. Now on occasional gaming and regular stuff, the things are much cooler.

Thank you for a detailed answer, I am relieved that the heating problem has subsided but can you please tell what's the case while recording videos?
Not the right person to answer since I don't record a lot of videos! The videos that I have recorded till now are not more than 10 mins and while recording those, it warmed a little and definitely not uncomfortable! And yes the camera app never crashed or stopped working neither there was any lagginess or slow down later on!
Isn't Gorilla glas 3 and 5 equally resistant, just that the gorilla glas 5 does have some extra "stuff" (can't bother to Google it)? And the 5 lacks oleophobic coating which means it doesn't resist crease as well, at least that was the case with the P10 Plus in EU.
The heating hasn't been an issue for me at all, though the hottest it's been around here is about 24C. Mostly do gaming when I notice the phone getting warmer.
I can also confirm that the phone stays on in minus Celsius degrees and let's you take photo without a problem, if it helps

YouTube will be your friend but I'd say this. Is QHD important to you vs the full HD screen that is on the 7T? If you ask me you will not tell the difference. Will a tear drop notch bother you vs no notch like what is found on the 7 Pro?
Curved display vs flat display. Curved display looks good (to me) but it shows glare when you're using it in sunlight. The 7t charges faster than the 7 Pro due to the new 30T charging technology vs the older 30 charger found in the 7 Pro. To me the most important factor is do you prefer 128gb vs 256gb storage?
For my personal use I think the 7T is the all around better phone. I don't care for a curved display, I actually like having a dedicated front facing camera vs the pop-up cam, I prefer the faster charging but envy the larger 256gb found on the 7 Pro. If you're anything like me then save the money and get the 7T.

@ OuncE718 Thank you for your input. And, answer your questions, really I don't know what you're asking. I like watching movies on my phone but that pretty much it. As for the storage size, it doesn't matter much for me, though I do like a good battery life. I want a new phone because the phone I have now is a little slow, LG-G6, it's okay but I want something new and unlocked. Also, it doesn't have to be the ones I listed if there something better than them, thanks
Take a look at this comparison on gsmarena. What I would say is, if money is not a problem then get the 7T Pro, and if it's the opposite 7T will be sufficient.

He means screen resolution. QHD is 2k, 1440p. FHD is 1080p
I also can't tell any difference myself . I think you'd be happy with the 7t
OnePlus 7T is best if you don't want to spend much or under budget constraints as well as if you want latest specs(SD 855+) and warp charge 30T.
Go for OnePlus 7 pro if you want a phone with premium appearance like infinity display (similar to latest Samsung Galaxy devices) as well as if you want pop-up camera and horizon light(since there is no notification light in 7T) and also if you want qHD display as well as 4000 mAh battery. But 7 Pro costs a little more and there is no difference in camera department.
I must warn you. I've just returned my oneplus 7T due to green tint on the upper part of the screen. Many devices are affected of this flaw. Please google about it and potential hw/software issues before you make your decision. (i recomend revuew on androidpolice) It looks like oneplus 7t pro has higher quality panel than regular 7t(i am not talking about screen resolution).
I keep hearing about this issue and I wonder if it does not affect the tmobile 7t cause I don't have that issue
I see the green tint "issue" but it only appears under real low light. I don't see it under normal lighting conditions. It doesn't bother me at all.
To be honest I never noticed it until I saw this post.

After a year with the exynos s10+, I want to come back to OP.
I can't decide between the 7T and 7 Pro.
From what I know:
-7t has better battery and brightness
-7 Pro has 1440p
-7T is lighter and less bulky
-7 Pro has a pop up camera while the 7t has a tear drop a la 6T.
-7 pro has more custom roms and twrp while 7T has the rom I like most: renovate
-7t has a weird round protruding camera while the 7 pro has (way too) curved display.
So now I am lost, neither is the obvious choice.
Anyone has both or switched from one to another?
Curved display is horrid on pro I went to 7t from pro only reason not getting a 8

You wont notice any difference
In my experience the super high resolution displays are better when using the phones in VR headset. I tried watching VR contents in my friend's 7 Pro and I can see the difference when is watching the same VR content in my 7T. But I couldn't find any difference when using both phones for usual activities. In my option there's no need to buy 7 Pro for just the resolution thing.

I was a VR junkie before, now not at all, it's normal you will see a difference because VR lenses zoom like x5.
So for everything else we won't see a difference specially if we don't have perfect eyesight.
What about root?
Is it easy to root, flash a custom rom and update fw?
I grabbed the 7T for less than $500. Better battery. The teardrop camera, don't even notice it.
And, I don't even bother using the 90hz screen. I prefer the 60hz for battery life. I can't tell the
difference between the two, other than benchmark programs.
7 Pro has also renovate, it's what the dev own.
But I'd say 7 Pro if you care about custom ROMS and TWRP.
I got the Pro originally but hated the curved screen and all the reflections, yuck.
Got the 7T and it's great. Thought the teardrop notch would annoy but it doesn't - in fact it helps to see which way is up!

I would go with OnePlus 7T, you don't notice the screen resolution difference. The biggest thing is to have 90Hz display, which both phones have. I don't know, the Motorized camera on the pro is worrisome. Even when looking at the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, I would prefer the 7T for the cheaper price and great performance.
