[Solved] Missing Gmail unread notification badge - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Now, you can use Gmail with default Touchwiz, and have a working Gmail unread badge.
Just install free app "Rad Unread" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.radsoft.unread)

[Q] Unread SMS Count on Handcent Icon?

Is there a way to put an SMS count on the Handcent icon? I use widgetlocker, and one of the swipe bars goes to my Handcent app.
...
I've been using Handcent for 2 years now, and I've always had an unread message count at the top whenever I've had unread IMs.. of course this may not be what you're asking about?
I believe you're talking about the iOS style unread notifications directly on the app icon.
If that's what you're talking about, I know that GO Launcher has an add-in that does this for the stock app and GO SMS. Whether it works for Handcent or not, I could not tell you; GO is better, anyway.

[Q] Unread mail label in Gmail app?

This is a more general question about the mobile Gmail app versus the browser version. My current implementation of an "Unread" email inbox consists of a saved search for "is:unread" kept as a QuickLink named "Unread." Unfortunately, the mobile Gmail app doesn't see QuickLinks as Labels, so I can't open just that label to read just unread messages.
What I essentially want is to be able to choose a label in the Gmail widget so the widget shows just unread mail. Then, when I read the mail, it'd disappear automatically from the widget (preferably staying in the inbox).
The only thing I've figured out so far is manually moving things out of inbox and use that as the unread place, but this is cumbersome to my workflow and how I generally think of inbox (read, but unprocessed, tasks and information).
Let me know what you think about the possibility of this, thanks!

Custom Contact SMS and Email Notifications QUESTION

Is there a way to customize the Contact: SMS and Email Notifications within the Contacts application or is a 3rd app needed?
I know there is a section for Ringtone, but what about SMS and Email?
Im not sure even 3rd party apps can do it..

Email notifications come from Gmail or the Email app so custom notifications are not possible. I think Handcent SMS has the option to assign a contact a custom ringtone.
Ya, I was there was a way to have a custom sound for each notification. Email, text, etc...
For emails i dont think so, for text you can use a 3rdparty sms like gosms or handcent, or you can use ringo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.electricpocket.ringo

It would be a bit of work but you could get Gmail label notifier and make labels for different contacts and then assign specific sounds to the labels.

How to Change tones
The phone is capable of doing it by itself without the need of a third party app, simply go into the app you wish to change the notification tone for example gmail.
1. Open app>menu button>more> then go into settings
2. Choose which account if you have multiple accounts or just select your account then go all the way to the bottom where it says labels to notify and choose your inbox. It's set to default by default which is the notification set generally in your phones settings.
3. Choose whatever notification tone you want, be it a custom one you added yourself into the notifications folder on your internal or sd card memory or ones that are on the phone by default and voila! You're set.
Example 2 SMS app (default since I use that one)
1. Open app (obviously)>menu button>settings
2. scroll all the way to the bottom and choose "select ringtone", it's set at default just like the default on gmail, changing this doesn't change your default, only changes the tone for sms app.
Have fun changing your notification tones to be able to differentiate different forms of mail, same method works for fb messenger etc, only app I haven't found a way to change the tone is yahoo mail, but that's unique so I have no need to change it.
Hope this helps.^_^

Nova Prime + MISSED IT for Global Notification Badge

FYI, those who have the Nova Prime, it has an add on app (TeslaUnread) for the notification badge. However TeslaUnread has limited badges for gmail, email, sms, missed call & maybe 2-3 others. Now there is another paid app called "MISSED IT" from Play store which completely integrates with Nova Prime & gives you notification badges on any application e.g whatsapp, FB, Twitter & so on. Any app which flashes it's notification on the notification bar can be integrated with MISSED IT. Missed It was recently updated to JB 4.2.

Z1 Compact and Apex Launcher/Notifier issue?

Just loving my Lime green Z1 Compact (from CloveUK)
Have installed Apex Launcher and Apex Notifier as this just gives me the screen set up options I prefer.
But I cant get the Unread Email badge to display unread emails using Apex Notifier, any thoughts on how to get it working?
Other badge notification work - e.g. missed calls - SMS and Gmail app, just cant get the Sony Email app to display unread email count?
Any help appreciated..
Try disabling Stamina mode or Add Apex launcher and notifications plugin to whitelist of Stamina mode.

I do not think that apex notifier handles the sony mail app.
Looking in settings for apex notifier I see options for samsung, htc and k9.
a kind of workaround is to select gmail in notifier settings and in apex launcher settings for notifier select to show the badge over the sony email program. But you will not get number of unread mails from all accounts that way...

Look for an update of Apex Notifier. The update your app. See also if it can work with your Z1c Email.

I have the latest version of Apex Notifier and it still doesn't show unread emails notification, I have had to go back to standard Sony launcher until this works in Apex which is a real shame...
Hopefully it will work someday after an update.
Same probelm with Xperia Z2
I have apex pro version for 2 years now. On samsung SG3 and SG2 all is working perfectly. Xperia Z2 displaying badges for sony calendar, gmail, wasapp... unfortunately there is no notifications on facebook and sony e-mail.
