Phone syas its charging when not plugged in

Phone recently keeps saying it's charging even though it's not plugged into anything. When the phone enters the charging state the LCD turns on.
This intermittent problem, when bad can keep the LCD screen on for hours.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I tried doing a factory reset, I'm running stock ROM and haven't even unlocked the boot loader.
Sounds like maybe it's a hardware problem. To make sure, flash a stock rom using the GNex Toolkit and see if it improves. If not, re-lock the bootloader and send it in for warrantee.
Any other ideas?
i had this happen to a focus s. no matter what i did, i couldn't get rid of it. i think it's a short in the usb slot on the device. i had to rma my focus s and replace it.
Sounds like a damaged or dirty USB connector. Had this happen on a couple of phones. Clean the phone's USB input connector with either compressed air and or a soft tooth brush dabbed (not soaked) with some electrical contact cleaner or 99% alcohol and let it dry. Power off and remove the battery before trying either method. Is the phone water damaged or has it been in subjected to a damp area (sweaty pocket) for any length of time?
Hopefully it's just dirty and not damaged.
My phone has started doing this recently too. I haven't tried electrical cleaner, but I have attempted to blow it out with compressed air and clean it out with a pin. I can't seem to fix the issue, but I have found a good workaround...
After charging the phone (or having a USB cable attached for syncing) and removing the cable, if the the phone still thinks that it's charging, I simply power it off and remove the battery for a second. Re-insert the battery and power the phone back on... that's it... my phone will no longer be stuck in charging mode. Simply power cycling the phone doesn't work, I have to physically remove the battery for a second.
I had this issue with mine too, also when plugged in it would show charging, buy battery starts said "not charging." Sent it to Samsung for warranty repair, they claimed it was overheating and had to replace a part. Free repair though!

Motorola Defy doesn't start

Hello I was recording underwater at sea with my motorola defy..i recorded 4 days and nothing happened but in the 5th day when i was recording under water (about 30-40 cm deep) the screen started to flash ..the phone drank some water i think..well after 2 days it worked again..only the low volume button was kinda bugged...but after a week my phone crashed..i mean It doesn't want to boot anymore when i connect it to the charger the white led flashes continiously ... I tried to hold volume up and power button but nothing happens..any ideea what can I do ?
As soon as the phone messed up you should've took battery out and dried it, you may have fried it, I drowned my desire z in the toilet and it worked but then fried. Try putting it somewhere warm (like an airing cupboard) in a bowl of rice for a few days, or disassemble the device and dry all parts and clean with alcohol wipes. Either way once its dry if it doesn't work you fried it I'm afraid :/

Yes but elsewhere could be clogged with water, or worse short circuited due to it. When my desire z failed the power button or the charger just turned my led flash on, do not presume that light means you don't need to dry it.
the salt can be heavy... you could try washing it with ordinary water, dissasemble it and try to put parts for few days into bowl of rice. good luck

[Q] Rooted Samsung Nexus Wont Charge or Turn On

My Samsung nexus is reaching 1 year old and has been rooted/boot loaded for about 5 months now and ive never had a problem with it. But last night it shut down as the with about 10 percentage charge in the battery and now wont boot up or charge. I've tried several different chargers using different ports and even put the replacement battery in but it will not charge and boot up.
Has anyone had this problem before or know a way this can be fixed.
Any help will be greatly received.
yes i had this same problem. sounds drastic but i had to bend the middle board of my usb port up towards the screen a fraction. i used a thin knife with the battery out. and eased it up a fraction. just be very careful. hope you get it sorted. cheers steve

Note 4 boot issue.

I have a rooted Note 4 running CM13 and TWRP installed. When I woke up this morning, the phone would not boot up on it's own. So I attempted to plug it up into the wall, it tries to charge the battery, then shuts off. Thinking it was a software problem, I attempted to boot into recovery mode (while still attached to the wall outlet) and it successfully made a backup. I opened up the back cover and the battery area only had a little moisture.
Could my battery just have died out? I live in Tennessee and it gets very hot in my room at night, can a water (sweat) damaged battery cause this problem?
Moisture on the contracts could short out your battery.
Sounds odd you found moisture in there and not other parts.

Heelp! Bootloop after the phone got wet

I wrapped my phone wıth plastic stretch film and recorded some video underwater, but after second video obviously my phone got wet and phone got into boot loop, after an hour or two it started working again, i watched some videos on internet, then it started to restart again till red circle logo and again and again. I put it into rice for 24 hours but no luck. Can get into fastboot and recovery mode, phone is charging but nothing else. What to do?
I'd say buy a waterproof phone [emoji849]

Sorry - "Stupidity knows no bounds!"
I opened back cover of the phone, after 3 days. There is a connector which i guess is responsible for vibration and speakers. When i disconnect that cable, phone worls properly except sound and vibration. As i connect it back to the mainboard, it starts bootloop again. So either there is something with that flex connector, or port on the mainboard. Right now I'm writing from my Oneplus 5T
