I'm quite a noob with Tasker and I'm wondering if it would be possible to create and automation that lets you flip the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 when a WhatsApp video call starts (just like when you take a selfie) without the others seeing you upside down

I never use the FFC, but, I do have a suggestion :
Try using a rotation control app, such as Ultimate Rotation Control.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate
Then, set it up on a per app basis for rotation, see if that works.

Hey, I was looking to get the Mi Mix 2....
Wow does WhatsApp or Skype work with the forward camera? Is it a killer red line?? Don't want the wife having to look up my nose or with me making eyes all the time??

hey guys,
im curious if its out there or some one ever thought about doing something like that.
is there a way when you turn on Driving mode or hack it to activate the camera and record. just like a personal DVR that you would buy to put in your car and when you drive it records what happens in front?..
last night i though about it if something did exist?.
anyways any tips would be awsome

So you want to use the camera like a video recorder?? because it does that already at 1080p

Well a better blackbox application would be to record gps data, and say the last 1 or 5 minutes of video. That way if you got into an accident, you'd have a record, but you wouldn't be recording 8GB of video for a long drive. Someone make that app, it could run whenever Navigation is on.
That's called a Black Vue HD camera... Look them up good product i have one

yes that would be an option of getting a REAL DVR but if you already have a mount for you phone and you have a idea about if its possible, you would want to see if its realistic.
what would be nice with a app that could turn on the camera recorder at 720P and record at 24 frames with the screen off to save energy. also i would have 40gb of space.. enough for hours of driving.
but that is a nice quality DVR that Black Vue HD camera
Auto guard from play store. It's what I Use best one I've found so far.
Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative camera app? Something that gives you more advanced controls and taking pics whilst recording video. I'm coming to the nexus from Samsung and even though the lock screen shortcut will launch the default app, having a more advanced one would be useful.
Thanks in advance

The apps A Better Camera I have used before and like the features it offers, good amount of fine tuning options. Another app worth taking a look at is Camera360 Ultimate different setup then A Better Camera but still plenty and some different features as well. Let me know if you still have questions.

I just got my N5X and installed A Better Camera on it, it does work, it takes photos, records videos, and you can take a photo while recording a video. One big problem though: everything (photos and videos) is recorded upside-down. The app has a setting allowing you to rotate the view manually (I guess to accommodate cameras that are installed in different orientations), but it doesn't work on the N5X apparently. I also got one force close while using it.

Sounds like they haven't updated for Marshmallow.
Manual camera

Interested in this as well especially since we have our Google play credit. The upside down camera thing is an issue though.

What about Camera FV-5? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro
It was discussed in another thread, but I recommend Open Camera. Has a lot more features than the stock Camera app, and it works fine with our reverse-landscape mounted sensors. If you enable the experimental Camera 2 API support, you can try out the EIS option for video recording. Works fairly well I think.
Hmm. Can we adjust the double power button to go to another app? Also on the default app can we shut the noise?

Hah downloading another app just makes the double press give you camera option. Sweet. Open camera is good but no hold to burst or pictures while video.

I cannot find a single camera app that has video with pictures during recording. Most don't even record video at all. Anyone?

Use a different launcher, like Nova, and you can assign gestures and shortcuts to several actions on the phone. I use Nova and have the camera app set up to launch whenever I touch home when I'm on the home screen or double touching of home if I'm on any other screen.

Hey how long does the manual camera let you keep the shutter open for? What is the lowest the setting can go to?
On the Nexus 5 it was .8seconds. Really hoping for it let you keep it open for longer like the G4 does.

I don't really know, I just know it was the first one getting in shape for camera api 2.
Sadly I sold my N5 for a while ago but I imagine Ill use it on 6P

Oh I was under the impression that you had the 5X lol. Yeah if you like to take full control while snapping you definitely will like using manual camera.

As I said upthread, A Better Camera lets you take photos while recording video. It records everything upside-down when used on the Nexus 5X though. Presumably that will be fixed in an update.

According to this article: http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-...emote-shutter-for-a-smartphone-camera_id67946 Google Camera should work as a remote. It doesn't work for me and I don't even see the app on my watch. There are others listed there, so one of them should work for you.
already checked that thread...but i know there is a built in option on the huawei watch since i already took pictures with my watch...i just did it accidently so my question is if anyone can tell me how i did it (without any app download)
hope this helps as per the gethuawei website http://www.gethuawei.com/huawei-watch-faqs
Q: Can I use my watch to take a photo on my phone?
A: Yes, but you must install a third-party app that can be used to take photos.

It's kind of silly that Huawei phones don't have this feature built in the camera app.
yes as they are from the same people quite right i use wear camera its a 3rd party app but it launches the camera app from the watch has a view finder on the watch etc works rather well.
I tried to use the remote shutter on an Honor Magic3 phone, a Samsung Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13, can't find any shutter app :-(
hi, i just bought a xiaomi mi4c
and i found an option that allows you to make pictures or video while holding the volume button, when the phone is locked.
this looks a pretty nice option to have when you need to record something and dont want to lose time over options and so on,
i found this option pretty nice, however the phone is quite a bit big for me, i need something more compact, so i am considering to buy a z1 compact,
can you guys tell me if this option is pressent at z1 compact?
thanks
I don't know exactly what you mean but if you're talking about the camera, the Z1C has a dedicated camera button.

i mean if there is any way to take hidden picture or video recording, while having the phone locked and with the screen off,
like with mi4c,
i just take out the phone form the pocket and keep pushing the down volume button and it starts to burst continous pictures from the camera, and when i unlock it, i find them,
well, i can config it to record a video instead to make pictures,
is there such super quick mode to record something in the z1c ?
i guess if you push the camera button while locked, it just turns on the screen, and then opens camera, and then lets you select what to do then,
but something more quick or hidden like in the mi4c is possible in a z1c?
Well I guess the Z1C doesn't have this but there might be apps that do something similar. I really don't know though since I didn't need something similar before.

I have tried using ADV to record my sweet Slither.io skills, but it just forces closes whenever you try to start the recording. Anyone gotten screen recording to work on their note 7?

Go into your apps and click on the "play games" icon (the green one) and you can record from there. Click on a game you have installed and a little red cicrle pops-up.

Thanks for the reply! I actually ended up finding one that worked before I read this. I got AZ Screen Recorder. It works really well and even has its own built in editor. It is also really customizable from Resolution to frame rate and it will record from your camera at the same time just like twitch! I don't know why the others I downloaded didn't work. Nice to know Play Games has its own recorder built in though. Thanks again.
