Hi guys,
I am not sure what exactly happened. I was sitting around and listening to some music when my old Nexus 5X suddenly rebooted and stayed blank.
First guess - Battery. But that turned out to be quite wrong as I had charged it over night. Tried to get into fastboot mode or recovery mode; After the logo showing up and my beloved "This device isn't trusted" sign the screen went completely blank and that was the last sign of life. As it's got an USB port, I hooked the device up to a computer, found it to identify as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
Some research showed me that this is some kind of download mode, in terms of 'nothing works anymore' and you'd have to get your hands really dirty here to get at least somewhere.
So my educated guess would be bad memory or some corrupted filesystem and I'd have to reinitialize the phone to be able to fastboot or anything.
Tools already looked at:
LGUP - No joy; Device not found as this one requires something like a basic recovery mode which seems to be broken here
boarddiag - I was able to read from the memory using 'download' using a tot file I found somewhere online.
QPST - Found some prog_emmc_firehose_8992_lite_lge.mbn file, but I lack the patch and raw program files
Any ideas out there getting that bugger alive again?
Cheers
Rei
This is not a sign of download mode, your device hardbricked. As you have the firehose (I don't know if should work this) I found from another thread there the other files for QPST. I didn't tried that because this was released after I send my 5x to service (yes, for second time) due to hardbrick . https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5EP5AzZNQxPcE52QWw2VloteUU/view

dead/bricked LG G3 help in Manchester UK
Hi,
Just wondering if there is someone confident and experienced in modding and flashing of roms and so on in Manchester UK.
Last Thursday my G3 (D855 - european 32 gb) just died by it's own. I never messed around with the software on it, never had custom roms or anything on it... I was using it as usual, left it on the table and the next time I picked it up it was dead. it hat around 30-35% of battery when i left it on the table and after like 15 mins it was dead.
tried to charge it
tried booting into download mode (not working)
my laptop recognized it as qhsusb_bulk at first, than I installed some drivers and now it shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008...
I've tried a couple of things that i've found on the forums but either i'm doing something wrong or maybe i don''t have the right files... in any case i didn't manage to fix it.
so if there is someone near Manchester UK please contact me, i'm willing to pay for your " services "
If you power on the device the led blink's on red or something?!
display show no signal?! really strange...i dont know nothing with this problem but...if you search around your city sure you find mobile stores who made repairs and give you some feedback about what they could be!
the phone does not respond to anything. the led does not blink, the screen won't turn on at all, it won't go into download mode. the only sign that there is still some life in the phone is the fact that it shows up in the device manager as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008...
from what i read on the forum it's soft bricked. i already tried almost all the methods (tot file, lg flash tool, board diag etc.) but they don't seem to work. for example :
*LG flash tool gives the following error : Download fail ! ... model information check fail.
*Boad diag 3.99c gives AP test fail
*LG smart boot diagnostics tool v.1.3.1 gives finds no errors and does nothing
i turned to the forum as I trust this community more than phone repair shops...
Hey!
I just got a bricked N5X from my friend. It doesn't show any sighs of life (download mode, recovery, etc.) except lovely Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 when I connect phone to the PC.
I searched a lot of post across the Internet and there are couple of ways to (at least try to) fix ix, but I miss files to do that. BoardDiag doesn't support this chip and even if I want to try I cannot find .tot files for 5x.
So is there any way to fix it? To get img files needed or something else?
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, my Nexus 5X just got bricked as well. It was working fine until all of a sudden, it rebooted while using Google Maps & Bluetooth to stream the navigation and music. Then it got stuck on the Google boot screen and since then, it would not boot. I was able to get it to start in bootloader mode and recovery mode a few times. I was even able to clear cache once but that was it. Now, I can only get it to start in bootloader after pressing and holding the power + vol.down button for at least 20 secs.
I tried plugging into my computer and it shows the Qualcomm HS- USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5) under Ports (COM & LPT).
What can I do to recover from this?
If you are able to go to the download mode, then maybe you can try LGUP to flash original image. You can more info on other xda forums

hardware issue, google and LG are apparently aware of this. Mine just crapped out and Im one month out of warrunty so I was able to get google to do a one time replacement. Thought who knows how long that one will last.
My Nexus 5X just crapped out about 5 minutes ago. I was using Chrome and it froze, so I held the power key. It is stuck in a boot loop. If I VolDn+Power I get the menu to go to go into recovery, but it doesn't succeed. Tonight when I get home if there's anything to try via ADB I'd appreciate a link, but I figure it's the hardware problem. Bootloader Version BHZ11h. I'm out of warranty but have an extended one from my credit card company.
Same here...I am really frustrated about that!Another bricked nexus out of nowhere..!!Don't know what to do!
Since i still have warranty is it better to go to the place i bought to ''fix'' it as they said or send an email to google if they can replace it..?
what do you think? is there any way to save our data?
My Nexus 5x froze up without warning earlier this week while listening to spotify and playing ingress.
I managed to reboot it but the same thing happened again so I booted it up in recovery mode and did a factory reset. Now the phone is dead other then the LED flashing red while connected to the charger.
I contacted the reseller and i'm gonna ship it of today to be repaired i hope.. unless the repairshop claim it's been water damaged or some other "#¤"#%.
Here's another Nexus 5X bricked: it frozes playing War wings.
Sent in warranty to LG repair center they changed the mobo and sent me back in 4 weeks: how many time could work now?

Hello, i have problem with my f460s. i just bought this phone from internet running with kitkat. it has bootloop prob but when i plug in charger it can boot normally. based on this prob, i had a feeling that an upgrade would fix bootloop. i searched on internet how to flash it and the kdz file and i found it. the name of the kdz file is F460S30h_00_0425. its actually my first time doing this kind of thing and it went successful. i made it to home screen and then suddenly a notification appeared. its says google play service need an update blablabla and i just go with it. after its finished the download, my phone restarted and guess what? my phone cant boot anymore. i cant go to download mode, rec mode and cant charge (only shows empty battery and a circle). after 5 hours of browsing i found that this is called "Hardbrick". i got some guide/method for xda to fix this but not sure which one should i choose. i wanted started from this https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/unbrick-lg-model-download-recovery-t3060184 but before doing the instruction i realized that my f460s isnt detected by computer. tried to connecting my phone to my pc with no simcard and micros d(with battery/without battery) and pressing vol up button but sadly i cant see it in windows device manager even after i installed lg universal driver and qdloader hs-usb driver. its almost 1 week and i cant figure out how to fix my phone. i feels so frustated right now. i would appreciate any help or reply. thank you and sorry for grammar.
So yesterday i was browsing facebook on my phone when it suddenly freezes and i couldnt do anything so i took the bactery out. Now my phone wont boot it stuck on logo screen but this time not LED appears i dont see the LG logo moving i use to see a bright color thingy near it and this time no flashing LED i can enter twrp recovery but the internal storage becomes 0 and i cant flash a new rom because it gave me an error. I tried to enter download mode i thought it work it said download mode then for a few secs the screen just turn black and nothing. So this is basically hard bricked im guessing?

It's just the universe's way of telling you to stay off of facebook
You can tell if it is a hardbrick if your G3 shows up as something strange in the device manager of your PC like qualcomm 9006 or 9008 or something else under "ports" and will not be recognized as a phone. So check what your device manager on your computer says under "portable devices" and "ports", when you plug the phone in and you can tell if you're bricked or not.
For reference: when i'm in download mode(firmware update screen)on a healthy G3 my pc sees the phone as LGE Android MTP device under "potable devices", LGE Mobile for VZW USB serial port(com41) under "ports", and "LGE Mobile for VZW USB Composite Device" under USB controllers. (*Don't mind the VZW tags as that denotes it is for a Verizon phone.)
It's good you can get into recovery, but internal storage reading 0 in recovery is strange. What error do yo get when trying to flash something in recovery? Have you tried reflashing the TWRP recovery zip or .img file in your recovery? Have you tried a different/new battery(check the date code on the battery to see how old it is - if it's 2014 it's probably bad)? A bad battery can cause random shutdowns and bootloops, it could cause your phone to reboot while in download mode(which could be why you don't make it to the "firmware update" screen after it says "download mode"), but I doubt it would cause the recovery errors
Also, please include your G3 variant (D855, Vs985, etc.) and the ROM you were running when all of this happened. Someone may have experienced your issue before and it could be ROM/variant specific with an easy fix...if it's fixable and not a catastrophic hardware issue.
Best of luck to you getting it fixed :good:
yup it says qualcom 9008 thingy i might try to reflash an image and see what happens lol im planning to buy a new phone anyway so if it cant be fixed oh well idc XD. battery is from 2014 and its lg d855
Happened to me several times, phone get overheat then just refuse to turn on
In my case, I let it charge to 100% and if still not booting, reflash the ROM
Hello, so I'm the go to guy for helping with phones, I've been on XDA a few years now, always a nexus nerd, so I'm slightly in a foreign territory as I try to help my brother unbrick his LG G3.
Situation:
- Brother claims he had app updates, and he had the TWRP app installed, he was running Turbo ROM - (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-turbo-rom-layers-t3346477) latest version Turbo-vs985-4.0-OFFICIAL-20160509.zip (I have the ZIP) - and that he allowed the apps to update, and the TWRP app did it's thing. (I'm not clear weather it was just the APP update, or if he tried to update the Recovery partition via app).
- Next he said either after a restart or crash, the phone just refused to boot. It stayed off, totally (seemingly)
- He did note that he had battery issues few months back, that his battery bloated on him, but he replaced it.
- When I went to pick up phone, he had it off/battery out for a few days, I think the battery still had a charge. we did a Vol Down/Power with charger plugged in, battery in, and it turned on the screen, I think we were looking at stock recovery if I recall correctly. Few seconds later it turned off and never came back on.
My Observations:
- when plugging into computer, I see a device "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4) - no device "visible" under my computer. (screen never on)
- fastboot and adb both show no devices.
- I used LG Smart Boot Diagnostics Tool 1.3.1 (from guide http://www.androidbrick.com/unbrick-recover-your-dead-lg-g3-g2-all-variants/ ) to try and diagnose it, but every time I choose the right model from the drop down (LGVS985_AVRZ_VRZ), and confirm, it seems to connect correctly, and it starts to display results as OK (there are more to scroll down to see), but then it quickly disconnects, not allowing me to see other results.
- guide seems to be aware of the issue ..."In these situations Smart Boot Diagnosis seems can’t reaching the emmc and 9008 port shuts itself down and comes back (you hear it, like usb unplugged and back in).".... - and recommends using another step highlighted by this guide ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...3-qhsusbbulk-qualcomm-9008-t3072091?nocache=1 )
- This is where I get lost, @willcracker seems to illustrate a need for a tot file, which from what I can gleam is LG's original version of firmware format. And that I need to get the exact version of the TOT that was installed with the ROM?
- I browsed the ROM forum, can't find mentions of a TOT file, but my brother did keep a backup of the Turbo ROM on his internal card, as well as a total TWRP backup of a ROM "2016-06-17--21-31-26_MRA58K" that contains boot/data/system/ .win .win000 .win001 etc. backups, as well as xdabbeb_stock_vs98547a.zip and xdabbeb_vs98535b_bootstack.zip -
SO.... I think I might have all the files Except the TOT to unbrick this thing, but I'm not sure what to do about the TOT part.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you for reading this Wall of text.
PS. He mentioned he was more interested in just grabbing photos from the internal storage, vs fixing the device, but getting the photos and fixing it would be an awesome surprise!
:fingers-crossed:
