mob30x? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

hi
I'm trying to install some kernel so I can use Y-cable to charge and usb host at the same time.
the supported builds call for mob30x.
my build is mob30B..
will the X build cover my B build?
also can I install the kernel on my rooted N7 without a separate ROM?
thanx

I don't see a MOB30B for either wifi or lte. MOB30X is the latest version for both. But unless you flashing Timur's I think you should be good.

i made typo... its MOB30P, not B..
from the list i saw, its sposed to be build specific..
there is a way to upgrade to 30X, but its involved.
i did find timurs for my build, but i never found an actual download link,,unless its only for paid version, etc
i dont wanna load a ROM.
its just rooted, stock.
yeah, this is for timurs
if theres a different kernel, that'd be great..
i never found one.
thx

Timurs is the best. I tried other solutions and his kernel based one works 100%.
It's not involved. Just extract the factory image, reboot into bootloader and type fastboot flash system system.img in cmd or terminal.
Flash the kernel, re-root, and your done.

4.3 ROMs?

What ROMs are okay to flash if you have the Knox bootloader. Im so confused about this Knox thing. Ive read if it doesnt change your bootloader you will be fine and others saying i have to wait for a stok mk3 .tar (i do believe thats the right one) file to be available. one dev posted a rooted 4.3 rom and he said this wont mess with the bootloader. im just nervous dont want to brick my phone. someone please help and shed some light on this confusing situation
This should be Q and A section, and Cnexus posted a FAQ about this in general section....

I'm running the cm11/kitkat experimental build and I have the new knox bootloader, the rom requires some tweaking, I will post it soon if the original dev doesnt incorporate my fixes.

If you want a simple answer, then here it is: you can flash any rom you want.
Only one catch: do not EVER Odin a full stock tar with version < MK3 to your device or you will instantly brick.

Thank you. First answer I've been able to understand. Just stay away from Odin and .tar files. About to flash your ROM so I can have root and from what I've been reading pretty good battery life as well. Thanks for your work man.

I've been running it with ART and I haven't had it reboot on me yet. I think once I was doing something with the camera gallery and the camera 'broke" and required a restart but I can't remember if that was when I was playing with cm10.2 or cm11.

The original ROM checks for "know" baseband versions to make sure you dont try flashing the ROM on the wrong device. I had to unpack the ROM, add support for the new baseband and then repack the ROM inorder to get it to install. I also change he kernel cmdline to set SELinux to permissive mode by default (like it was in 4.3). I will post the tweaked ROM shortly.

I'm not sure with that setup, I honesty didn't read through the whole thing.
But you should give this a read: http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/tutorial-unified-storage-layout-for-oppo-find-7a.17952/
It is laid out pretty easily and it also has links to unified nightlies that are supported.
It is super easy. All you do is run one .exe file in Fastboot mode, wait 5 mins, and you're done. Only NamelessROM and Gummy ROM are supported. Cm11 won't be supported.

Yeah, you will have to choose. Can't have both unfortunately. I wouldn't recommend the first method in this post. The one I mentioned only requires an exe file to be run.

And Nameless Rom is based off CM nightlies with cherry picks and fixes before CM gets to it with extra options. It's really a great ROM.

Mine was a clean stock 12.1 install first, then update applied from recovery to 13
Mine is working just fine, no problems to report at all..... hrmm so, I wonder what's different

Me too that's exactly what I did load 12.1 by fastboot to ensure everything is overwritten
note super su stock dosn't work but the beta does
I'm I noob here and I don't understand what everybody's talking about here. From my understanding, a flashable COS13 zip is out in the open and works? How should I go about flashing it if I want to keep TWRP recovery? Do I have to do a clean install?

as far as I am aware there is NO COS 13 zip for the crackling, only this incremental update (ie an update from 12.1, so that needs to be installed as a base first and then the update flashed from recovery)
There is CM 13, both snapshots and nightlies that an be flashed from TWRP as ZIPs
TWRP an be flashed from fastboot whenever you like, so that shouldn't cause you any major concerns :good:

Personally I would ensure I have backed up, but in theory ..Yes, though if it were me.. I would, backup, wipe, flash stock recovery, update
I am afraid I can't answer fully, as I always flash clean...soz

Ok. Well, if I backup beforehand then I should be fine if anything goes wrong. One last question though, do I need stock recovery in order to flash the zip?

xPosed and Cataclysm ROM

Hi all,
I'm trying to install Xposed on cataclysm from. I flash the zip file, but after optimization of applications I have a force close of the UI system app. Then I need to uninstall the framework in order to restore the system. Anyone have some suggestions? Any other ROM like cataclysm with Xposed already in?
Thanks all
I know it's not an answer to your question, but I'd advise against using a ROM that's been discontinued half a year ago. Though Cataclysm was a great ROM i moved on to Pure Nexus myself. Works great with Xposed.

You're doing something wrong.
Are you using the correct Xposed? Version 86? X64?
Are you on the latest Pure Nexus and latest Vendor img?
Are you using latest SU? 2.76 ?
If you're saying you are having bootloops with Cataclysm, I and everyone else will not help you. That ROM is dead, it cannot be compatible with anything current.

Don't know, haven't used that feature ever on any ROM.
I think Gravitybox has it though? not sure.
Anyway, yeah, just use a different one, that is currently supported. Otherwise it's impossible to pin-point a ROM-SuperSu conflict.

I'm using a combination, which you can see in my signature and it works perfectly.

Some people reported bootloops when flashing in the wrong order. If you clean flash pure Nexus and stick to the flashing instruction there should not be a problem.

not big much of a deal with animation.

I also have stock 7.0 and I tried 88 and 88.1 and didn't work. I think it's something about the stock kernel. I've heard. maybe flashing to a different kernel might work. Exposed works on custom ROMs. I have Chinese stock ROM. Does anyone know how to actually flash the kernel? via twrp or fastboot? I downloaded the zip file and don't see a boot.img file.

someone told me to use TWRP the zip folder and I did. I still couldn't install exposed. Oh well. What to do with the magma kernel? just let it be? i see and read many cool things people do with magma but no one actually shares how or what to do to make the most of this custom kernel. I guess i'll just let it be.
