Just bought a P600 and the keyboard frequently will repeat a letter even with a normal touch. It does this with the Samsung or Google keyboard. Is there a cure for this? Neither my S2 nor the Tab S do this. I have the long press sensitivity on Gboard set to Max and that doesn't help.
I installed the Swiftkey keyboard and that seems to have fixed the problem.

This seems really strange, but when-ever I connect an external keyboard to the Note II via USB, the default on-screen keyboard is switched back to the Samsung Keyboard *permanently* (not just while I'm using the external keyboard).
That is, when connecting the USB keyboard, Samsung switches the default on-screen keyboard to the Samsung keyboard, and shows a note claiming that the Samsung Keyboard must be used (without giving any choice about reverting your default keyboard).
There seems to be no good reason for this, as the USB keyboard continues to work fine when I manually switch the on-screen keyboard back to Swiftkey or Google Keyboard (my preferred on-screen keyboards). It seems it's some sort of arbitrary glitch, but I can't figure any way to get around this problem, on a non-rooted device. There seems to be no way to configure this and no way to simply disable the Samsung Keyboard (which I never want to use). Doubtless this is Samsung-specific.
Anyone got any tips for me, save for rooting the device which I don't want to do?
Hello all,
I have a galaxy note 2 for almost two months. It used to work fine until yesterday that suddenly the samsung keyboard does not change automatically from normal keyboard to hand writing (and vice versa) as it used to. I checked the settings - it is as it should be. So I have to press the button that switches keyboard from normal to handwriting.
Moreover there are some applications like chrome browser that I cannot search for a term or insert anything to their general search/url window in other language than English using hand writing recognition. I can insert anything in Greek using normal samsung keyboard, but once I change to handwriting no matter what language I have selected it is trying to recognize text as it is in English. I cleaned cache to all the apps, restored the samsung keyboard.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thank you in advance.

I've been using an old Palm bluetooth keyboard with my android devices since switching from a Palm device several years ago. I just recently purchased a BT keyboard specifically designed for the Note 10.1 2014 and from first connection noticed this bar that pops up at the bottom of the screen whenever the keyboard is in use. The little button with the "^" in the corner doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure what it's for. Is this something that normally happens with BT keyboards and I haven't encountered it because I've been using an older Palm BT keyboard?
Looks like a placeholder for a nav bar, which the note don't need, or ads. Ad blockers which work with non-rooted devices produce such empty placeholders.
I'm not running any ad blocker (even though my device is rooted), but this only shows up when I first connect the BT keyboard??? Weird stuff.
Well, the black bar still persists except that I figure out a workaround to get rid of it. It's just a matter of connection order. I have to turn on the keyboard first, then turn on BT on the tablet, go to a text field and when the onscreen keyboard pops up just press the spacebar and on the external keyboard and I'm good to go -- no black bar and a completely functional external keyboard.

this didnt work, did you end up figuring oout whwat causes this? im usung a galaxy note pro 12.2
I did not figure out any other way to avoid it happening other than the work-around I mentioned. I believe it's the auto-spelling-correct or maybe the auto-complete, but don't know for sure.
I have the same problem on my note 12.2. Simple install "External Keyboard Helper" from Play Store and enable the on screen keyboard and choose "External Keyboard Helper" if you will be asked. Now your BT keyboard is a soft-Keyboard and no black bar was seen again.
Hi All,
As a dedicated Samsung user, I've always enjoyed the Samsung keyboard. I happen to have one additional language installed, and can easily switch by swiping on the spacebar. No problem.
Now, in older samsung phones (S5, S4, S2 Skyrocket, and Note 4) when I switched to a language other than English, it would persist until I swiped back on the spacebar. The language selection would remain/persist.
However on the Note 5, if I press enter or send, the keyboard AUTOMATICALLY switches back to English, which is a big pain in the ass. For example, if I'm in a hangouts chat, or TXT messaging, or even whatsapp (doesn't matter), I'll switch the language and hit the send button. I'm in the middle of the conversation, and I always have to switch to the target language because it'll revert to English the second I hit the send/submit button.
This behavior exists on EVERY app.
I checked the keyboard settings and there doesn't seem to be a single setting or option that would control this.
Please! Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.....this is driving me insane!
Anyone managed to get the smart typing features to work with the physical keyboard (the samsung keyboard cover) ?
I'm really missing auto capitalise mainly but the auto correct and predictive might be useful also.
It works with the onscreen
