How do I get the stock recovery back onto my Pixel XL? - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

I have a Pixel XL and I'm trying to restore everything back to stock so I can lock my bootloader as I have no need for the bootloader to be unlocked and I don't need to root my phone anymore.
I have flashed the 7.1.0 stock img from https://developers.google.com/android/images but there's no default recovery.img or anything and when i try to go to recovery I just get a "no command"
anyway to fix this?

I downloaded the 7.1.0 stock image and ran flash-all.bat and it did it's thing but said there was no recovery.img and when I looked in the zip there isn't a recovery.img at all.. I've downloaded a few different images to see if there's any kind of recovery.img and there isn't one.

nvm I got it , take care all.

Please tell us how you did it!

the "no command" screen IS IN FACT the factory recovery. To further access the recovery's menu and options you have to hold the power button and tap the volume up button, and then you can use the volume and power keys to navigate it.

Recovery menu???

For the life of me I can't get the Vol Up + Vol Down + Power button combo to bring up any menu options in the recovery mode on my Galaxy Nexus. This is a GSM from the Play store. I'm running stock Jelly Bean setup. I was trying to unlock the bootloader and do the factory image install, but I kept getting a boot cycle. I tried to go into recovery to data wipe, but I couldn't ever get the menu options to come up, just have the Android on his back with the exclamation point. Anyone else see this?
that is the stock recovery.
press power and vol down and up and you'll get the menu.

Wait, let's see if you're not confusing things.
To unlock: with the device off, 3bc (3 button combo) power+vol up+vol down. Hold it until you see bootloader screen. Connect the device to pc previously set up with fastboot, and in a command line, type 'fastboot oem unlock'. Accept on the device.
When in recovery (accessable by using volume keys in bootloader screen, also allows to reboot bootloader, start system), press vol up (or vol up+power, can't remember right now) to see stock recovery menus.
Nevermind recovery right now, follow efrant's guide on flashing stock/unlock. Set up fastboot. Don't use toolkits.

Ok my phone is now flashed. But I still can't get anything to show up in stock recovery. I can get to bootloader and volume up to recovery then I get the android on his back with bang. No button combo here brings up any menu options.

Awesome, thanks! This actually works, not sure why the 3 button combo wouldn't get it every once in a while. Is the 3 button combo used for the CDMA VZ version of the phone? I even saw this used in a youtube video!

Nope. It's power and volume up to get into the recovery menu from the recovery screen. Power and volume up and down is to get into the bootloader.
I tried power and volume up. Nothing happened!!!
I flahsed back to stock.... and got bootloop. since I didn't flash data image.
Edit:
Ok got it. press power button first .follow by volume up.

[Q] Android Stock Recovery

HOW DO I GET IN IT???? i mean i tried everything, volume up, downm power, everything, it used to work, not it doesnt work anymore, just can't load it up, please help, i'm trying to install 4.2.2, but i can't get in this stupid recovery, who the **** designed it to be this way in the 1st place.
Hold both volume up and volume down while powering the device on. This will boot you into the bootloader, you then scroll through the options with the volume rocker and select reboot recovery. And it will reboot into the stock recovery. You will first see a Droid laying on his back, here you will need to press volume up + power to be able to get to the options of the recovery.

access to recovery after MM update

Guys,
Does anyone have problem accessing recovery after update.
I update it to MM 6.0, phone works fine but just does not get to recovery. I tried from boot but no sucess.
Everything is stock, non rooted.
Any idea what may be wrong?
I also can't access recovery (red triangle) and it says that system software modified, even though I haven't touched anything, only install the OTA update.
What can I do to revert to official status and regain recovery? Also flashing a RUU will delete my files or no?

RUU flash will delete everyting for sure.
I'll try in the afternoon to flash RUU then unlock bootloader and be ready as soon as root method be published.
I have that red triangle as well and i can acces the stock recovery. When that triangle appears press the power button and the volume up once at the same time. Or hold the power button and press the volume up button . Either way it (don't know wich) it works for me

Yes, its not clear, but the OP may be confused about the fact that when you see the red triangle, that is the stock recovery (then perform the button sequence above to access the recovery menu options).

ok thanks.
Then everything is fine. I just flashed the ruu and is the same.
I just need to pres the button.
Thanks.

Flashed TWRP but can't enter with button shortcut, only from fastboot.

Unlocked phone's bootloader and flashed the latest TWRP, downloaded straight from their site and md5 checked.
If I try to enter TWRP from fastboot, it enters fines but the shortcut just doesn't. If you can't enter twrp from the shortcut, then your basically screwed if you brick it..
I even tried flashing twrp all over again, and still have the sample problem.
So how can I fix this?
i have the same problem, plus the fact that i had error during flashing new rom and now i can't even go back to stock, cause my PC doesn't recognize phone in download mode. Any fixes?
bumb
If u have root u can use an app called Flashify download from playstore go to recovery by using this app n The regular way to go Volume up and power button delete all select yes confirm yes u go into TWRP
Use Flashify or while you're in recovery flash again the recovery use the "Flash Image" option. And now you'll have permanent recovery
i found a solution, when your phone is off press volume down + power until lg logo appears, then release power (keep holding wolume down) and press power again. Then double yes and boom TWRP

Thanks mate. This made the factory reset menu open, and after clicking yes twice it did a normal factory reset like there was no twrp there.. I flashed twrp a couple of times with no error messages, and even got into it a month ago. How did it disappear.. what the hell

I believe if you are trying to get into stock recovery you have to hold power and then press volume up when you see the no command screen
Sorry but it don't work for me, even if I go from fastboot into recovery don't work.

Fastboot>recovery just gets you to the "no command screen." From there is where you do the power +volume up command to get the list of recovery options.
Now it works, you have to press first power and then the volume up button. Thx, and I thought it will be gone.
Thx guy's.
Im basically in the same spot, but I while Im in this corrupted recovery - I can't go into full one. Pressing UP+POWER just restarts device to the same place.
Try flashing stock boot.img from full factory image that matches the version you are on.
