[Q] how to create firmware.zip out of OTA

Hello fellow earthling!
Acc. to my carrier, the JB OTA is gonna hit me soon. (Finally!) So I've been thinking about going back to stock in order to download and save the OTA file. (Which is going to be saved in /cache, right?)
=> My question:
From this update-file, how do I create a firmware.zip-file, like the one aviable on the CID thread?
Greetings from Switzerland,
BigFatTony
The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.
people claim it gets downloaded in the Download(s) folder on your SD, or on the root of the SD (and is deleted if you apply it)
the OTA file should look something like this : OTA_ENDEAVOR_U....blablablbalblablablablab.zip
to extract the firmware just copy the ota file and open it on your pc and you will find firmware.zip if its included.
//SOLVED//
The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.

Thank you very much! It's so simple, it's boring.
Thanks to you, too, Vcek. I'm sure I'll find it.
Have a nice evening.

[Q] Can anyone help with creating a flashable bootloader for 4.04?

in order to create a flashable bootloader.zip we need to be able to extract the bootloader-flo-flo.4.04.img file all the img utilities I tried to unpack that file give a bunch or errors
can anyone see if they are able to unpack that file with imgtool or imgRePackerRK or other?
If anyone can try and unpack the bootloader-flo-flo.4.04.img file I am not sure why I keep getting bad file descriptor errors when trying to unpack it using imgtool
with that unpacked it should be easy to make a flashable bootloader, and there are a bunch of people all over that need this that either do not have access to a machine or like myself the USB port is not working at all on the device.
I second this!
Please!
Pleeeeeease!!!!
OPO Yeauh!!!
Agreed! I currently donr have a computer so i cant update rhe bootloader
The recovery flashable bootloader can now be downloaded from the link posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...shable-factory-image-zips-android-5-t2939599/
Be sure to thank @eksasol I bugged him so much I feel really bad now, awesome work!

which ".ta" files should I include or exclude while creating a ftf firmware file?

which ".ta" files should I include or exclude while creating a ftf firmware file?
hey everyone
As I mentioned above , while I'm preparing to create ftf file to flash I've found many ".ta" files as pictures shows below which I read before that I should ignore them .
so can anyone make it clear for me guys ?
Thanks.
Follow the link
www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/16/create-your-own-ftf-firmware-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide
i knew this tutorial , and they only had 2 ".ta" files ,unlike my firmware here which has more then 2, thats why i'm asking .
The only one I do not flash is the simlock.

issues with update zipping

Hi all, having a strange issue with a signed update zip file.
i have an update i need to modify, i made the changes and signed it properly, but update failed.
to make sure, i just unzipped the original file and zipped it again (no changes and all signatures shouldn't change) - update failed AGAIN.
(BTW i also tried to sign after zipping, that didn't help as well).
the original zip and the new one aren't the same size, but when extracted all files are identical.
would appreciate any direction here..
some specific info - i'm trying to modify a connected car (FlyAudio) update file, the recovery is proprietary so there's little info on why it fails.

Typically, update.zip files are recovery flash files and ODIN doesn't flash zip files in that manner.

ok, so the problem is that the update.zip (it has a different name but it's an 'update.zip' file) wasn't signed.
after extracting, zipping, signing i'm getting a file that's ~1K smaller than the original and identical up to that point.
the tool i'm using to sign uses test keys so i assume it's a keys issue.

update - needed to sign with -w (signapk option) that added the required footer.
thanks all
