As I mentioned on the headline, I am currently using los 14.1 and my device has vulkan. But unfortunately, games etc still doesnt recognize it.
I want to share screenshots but have to spam some posts for that
This should be the last one
Yes I faced this issue with my previous device too.
The main problem is that app devs and playstore is working with a list of compatible devices. And the Mi5s might be listed as incompatible.
You can try to download the apk and app data but for these apps licence check will fail.
Maybe if our device supports it officially on miui we could get access to these apps.
You know the weirdest thing is, I had vulkan working on a rom (an official one I guess, I'm not sure though), but now I cant manage to use it. I also tried ppsspp which should have vulkan option but, mine doesn't have anything other than opengl
is there a way to maybe make the playstore recognise our device as a different one?
There is a vulkan pack that can be flashed through recovery. That makes the device name note 5 or something. I will try that again now and will report if it works.
Edit: My phone is sm-N930F now but, apps still say unsupported.
Okay more of a weird thing, I can download vainglory now but, galaxy on fire 3 manticore still says unsupported. Tried ppsspp also and there isnt a vulkan option
GOF3 was available before on MIUI, but now it isn't. I guess they made a whitelist.
Yea, I was playing gof3 2 weeks ago on mi5s nad it was compatible. Now it isn't because of developer.

I can't find Android Auto on the playstore on my phone, and when I go to the playstore from my PC it tells me that "This app is incompatible with all of your devices."
Is it really incompatible, or maybe this is because Android Auto is not yet available in my country?

As far as I can tell the only requirements for the app itself is android lollipop and above so it probably is geo restricted
Since I don't have your device anymore I can't check
I have included the app in the attachment below though for you to install yourself
It is compatible, I am using it and installed it from play store. Maybe clear the Play store cache? AS pointed out you can also just install the apk (also from apkmirror)
Thanks. Are you using it with the G5 or the G5 Plus?
What is strange is that it is telling me that it is incompatible with my device, and not that it is not available in my country, as it happens with some other apps.
Is it is safe to install it with an .apk, and would I receive updates if I do it that way?

The apk I posted was downloaded by myself from the playstore so totally safe
You would only get updates if It is available in your playstore & even then you may have to uninstall & reinstall depending on app signatures if different in different locations

Thanks. If I can get confirmation that it should work with the moto g5 (not the plus) then I will try it out.
Any reason why Google would have country restrictions on Android Auto? The cars are the same, the apps (maps, music etc) work fine, so why place restrictions on Android Auto? Apple doesn't seem to have any such restriction with Car Play (in my country at least)

Why do you need confirmation to try it? Just try it - it will either install or say app not installed
Like I said the only min requirements is lollipop so no reason why the app won't install
Some apps maybe geo restricted for licensing purposes - if Googling why the app isn't available in your country doesn't come up with anything the only thing you can do is contact the app developer

Lol by all means scan it - decompile it & check it
If you know my reputation around here you know I provide support
I used to be a recognised contributor but left xda for a while
Also I provided the official twrp for this device
So looking through my past posts/threads you will see the kind of support I provide
Of course, I mean you work on twrp for g5 and yet someone still manages to be suspicious
I am not suspicious I just want to know if it actually works! If this is not a country thing, maybe they marked this phone as incompatible for a good reason. I don't yet have a car with Android Auto so I can't fully test it now. Maybe it would run on the phone itself, but then fail to connect to the car (I've seen reports of this happening for several phones including different versions of the Moto G). Or maybe there is some other kind of bug that only shows up once connected to a car...

The only person that can answer your question would be the app developer
Would be quicker & easier to test yourself as the chance of someone with a moto g5 & the car you might have with android auto support would be highly unlikely
In these situations it's always better to just try yourself or contact the app developer for support
I installed the apk that TheFixItMan has provided and it works fine, on both the phone and a car I tried it with for a few minutes. Thanks!
As it was said previously I can't update Android auto from the play store now, so I assume at some point it might stop working properly. Should I just get a new apk every time I need an update?

Yes just get the latest apk
As long as it's just the version that is on the playstore (unmodified) like I provided you can just update it without having to uninstall previous version

Hi All, I purchased my Mi 6 like half a year ago, and I asked some questions with regards to this device back then (reference: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/help/xiaomi-user-issues-actual-issues-t3703112 ) . I then gave up for some time, but would like to revisit some of my initial issues with the device.
DISCLAIMER: I am not very knowledgable on Xiaomi stuff, this is my first phone from them. I owned it for around six months and I still didn't root it... I just didn't see any _worthy_ rom to be installed. Please bear in mind, that although I am technically savvy and rooted all my previous phones always, I might sound as a total noob here since I didn't follow the scene very much.
At present, I have requested the unlock with Xiaomi, and they granted me the possibility to root the phone, but I haven't done so yet.
I am thus running on stock MIUI 9.5.6.0.(OCAMIFA). The Android is 8.0.0. OPR1.170623.027.
What I would like to achieve, is to get my Mi6 as close to current Pixel devices as possible. I understand that I could purchase the Pixel phone in the first place, but the price tag on them is too high..
(I am mostly interested in having the most recent version of Assistant available on my Xiaomi, and Pixel UI instead of MIUI)
I am unable to install Google Phone.
When I visit google store from PC, I can search for Google Phone, but can't install it. https://i.imgur.com/21fh9hq.png (and the reason why it's not compatible is not being disclosed). If I search google play store from the device itself, the app isn't even listed in the results. If I download any version of the Android Dialer app from APKMirror, and try to install - the installation would start, and then fail with a single message (App not installed https://i.imgur.com/gOolw3H.png ). I tried ARM, ARM64, both in NODPI and other DPIs, also, I tried app versions 19.0... and 20.0... from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/ . Always getting the same error.
What's interesting, is that I was able to install Google Messages, Google Contacts and any other google app without any problems, but I can't install the Phone app from google. I have also been able to install rootles-pixel-launcher from APK
I am left with the phone app from xiaomi, which is not integrated with Google Message / Contacts apps, and vice-versa.
I am looking for the clear up the following doubts:
1. Anyone experienced problem installing the Google Phone ?
2. Any idea how to further debug why I can't install Google Phone ?
3. Are you aware of any up-to-date rom giving me the pixel experience (The Pixel Experience thread has a lot of people askingn for updates - is it dead ?)
4. I start missing my LG Nexus 4, did I purchase the wrong device for what I am trying to achieve with it ? I start getting the feeling that I picked a phone with not enough scene going for it. Or is the scene in China?
Sorry for lengthy post, and appreciate any input.
cheers
You need to flasy Google Framework, then you can use googles apps like "phone"
Install any AOSP based rom, flash Gapps, root with magisk and search the download section for the 'Pixel 2 experience' module. I chose the last launcher, "new custom launcher"
Check if camera2api is enabled. It should be because of the pixel experience module but if it isn't yet download a magisk module for enabling it.
Check the Gcam threads on here for the recommended Gcam APKs and make sure to install Google photos too.
Last step is install the magisk module "Google framework" and installing the phone app etc. from the playstore.
After I followed these steps any AOSP based rom feels very pixel-like and Gcam even makes me think I actually bought one from time to time
Edit: I'm starting to think the pixel experience module actually has the framework included already as I currently don't have the framework module installed and I was able to download the phone app without any problems.
Good luck!
Has anyone managed to get Android Auto to connect to their vehicle on their whyred?
I bought a new car last week and have been unable to get it to connect. Meanwhile my friends Blackberry KeyOne and iPhone both activated AA/Carplay immediately like they were supposed to.
I'm running Lineage 17.1 latest build, but I did see folks were having trouble with it a couple years ago. I was just hoping the situation had improved since then. I just updated the fw files from the Xiaomi firmware project and will try it again, but sadly I'm not hopeful.
If it does work for some of you, what rom are you using?
Thanks!

Problems with GAPPS I guess. Update both, car HUR and phone (gapps, Androidauto, play store, etc).
It's suppose to work normaly.. you can test it with MIUI ROM. You will need to delete LOS anyway if you wanna update FW the correct way (latest Fastboot MIUI ROM using PC).
Good luck and stay safe.
P.S.: I don't use gapps, to much troubles, and not privacy friendly and battery/data eater.

What is the vendor security date of your device? (Unless its newer than Nov 1 2018 I'm already running the newest available vendor update and firmware.) The xiaomi firmware project updates the exact same files that the MIUI builds would.
Latest open gapps, android auto, etc are all installed. Headunit is updated to the latest version of Entune 3.0. The problem isn't the head unit. It's the phone. Old reports on here suggest it never worked with MIUI either. I was just curious if anyone has tried recently to see if the situation changed. I have zero desire to run that mess that is MIUI. It was bad enough using it long enough to get my bootloader unlock key. When you plug in the device you're presented with a menu on LOS that doesn't exist on other devices. (File Transfer, PTP, MIDI, Do Nothing). None of them do anything, so it appears that the MTP built into lineage doesn't know what to do with the connection.

It's not LOS fault, it's car HUR or GAPPS(androidauto,..) fault.
Something is wrong in communication. I have 2nd device with LOS + GAPPS and all is working in my car HUR.

You're leaving out a lot of necessary information, like your build of gapps and what your second device actually is. I have no doubt LOS works fine with Android auto on other devices, but I have yet to see any proof of it working on any whyred anywhere. You're just making assumptions and jumping to defend LOS without any proof whatsoever. You're ignoring the part where every post regarding AA on whyred posted on this forum in the past refers to it not working. It may not be LOS' fault in particular but it very well could be the device firmware never working with AA at all.

Ok ok I have 2 whyred devices(2nd has smashed screen, i leave it connected in car)...hope that makes sense now
Let me simplified this... whyred and android auto is working! Yeah you need to hasel a bit but its working, at least in my Nissan OEM HUR from 2019. You just need to find right GAPPS version. I think its from feb. 2020, anythig newer breaks androidauto. Than just freeze all google stuff or it will update and breaks again. I cant remember all details couse it's too long ago I did it. Sorry, but you'll need to experiment by yourself.
Ahh almost forget...my FW is 10.0.3 I think. Not the latest.
Good luck and stay safe.
It's a big gapps problem and not about the devices. I am on redmi note 4x and have the same problem. My whyred have too. All original devices work. And my mido work before too. Its all about gapps.
I am very much thankful for all developers here but please don't talk its fixed. Its not especially on android 11 builds. There is non fully working gapps out just betas talk work but not. I have many devices. I flash and hundreds of others cellphones.
For all people search. Help to develop or wait for a right gapps build and report to all.
I have been using Mi 11 Lite 4G (India) for more than a month now.
I have found many issues or say bugs with its software. The list goes this way:
1. File sharing gives error.
2. Opening pdf file isn't supported even if appropriate apps are installed.
3. Tried installing MIUI Global version, but then it says your device isn't Google Registered hence you can't use Google Services.
4. Uploading files to website isn't supported.
These are just few of the issues I am facing.
Will MIUI be updated to solve these issues?

Hi, I never had any of the above issues.
Do you have an unlocked bootloader?
If yes, try using the fastboot method, if you haven't already, and make sure you're executing the "flash all" script when you do (it's named something close to this).
Do you really wish to stay on Miui though anyway?
If you want, you can continue to flash a custom ROM right after flashing Miui.
You don't even need to boot it first.
If you however should really wanna stay on Miui though, you could give MiuiMix a go.
But an unlocked bootloader is a prerequirement here too btw.
It seems like the Indian variant in particular has a lot of issues.
Unfortunately you will need to experiment a bit and hope that something works well, or simply wait for Xiaomi to solve these issues..

true fed up with it
I am using Mi 11 lite 4G (global) and pdf file cannot be opened error and I'm having issues like file sharing errors.
Yes, I do agree. I have own one same device.
I found issue like - PDF file, excel sheet are not opening, though I installed Adobe PDF reader and Google sheet + WPS office. It's showing - unable to load file. Again, I can't submit document through the Google Chrome etc. WhatsApp Messenger document also not opening sometimes. But interesting case is - if I use any Custom ROM other than MiUi, it works fine.

I am very interested in buying this large screen phone, even if it is know an old model.
I understand it is no more an Android device, and will come with HarmonyOS.
Besides GMS not available, I would like to know it will be able to install apk files that I got from Android. Or every installation will have to use AppGallery or other places ? Thanks.

Mate Xs (both the Chinese and Global models) are Android 10 devices. The Chinese one now has the option to update to HarmonyOS but at least to my knowledge, they sell them with EMUI (Android 10) by default.
You can install APK files from wherever you like (at least on Android, not sure for HarmonyOS)
You can also install other app stores like Aurora, Amason App Store, and so on...
There is actually a way to also get 99.9% working GMS on the device. There are threads here about it.
I use it and almost everything works fine. This will be unfortunately my last Huawei device as I'm too reliant on Google and frankly getting too old for that OS tinkering stuff... Waiting for a new foldable from Google or Xiaomi
