Video Tutorial: How to install CM7.1 (Android 2.3.7) on the Motorola Defy

Search that on youtube . The rom is this : update-cm-7.1.0-11-Defy-signed .
After this adventure ( first time for me ) i saw that wifi is not working and i tried to unroot my phone , to get back to 2.2 . After some wipe cache / factory reset and other things my phone started to boot in "Bootmenu or Recovery android .."
. From there i installed again CM7 , and after some time my phone got back screen . ( i think it s called bricked )
After i flash for 2 times some retail froyo i found this : JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_117-002_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8RTGB035.0R_USAJRDNFRYORTGB_P003_A002_HWp3_Service1FF and my phone got revived .
This is my story , sorry for my english
Any solutions ?
The youtube tutorial doesn't mention a couple of important steps that may help to avoid problems with CM7. It is recommended to reboot the phone twice after installing 2nd-Init custom recovery. It is also recommended to wipe Cache and Dalvik before and after flashing the CM7 zip file. To do that, follow these steps:
Put the CM7 zip file on your SD card. If you want the Android Market and other Google apps, you must also put the Google apps zip file on your SD card. Links to both of these files can be found on the CM7 development thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654
Root and install the "2ndInit Recovery Installer” app, as you did before. It's available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
Run the app and install custom recovery (the version that is stable for CM-based ROMs), then reboot the phone. The first time you reboot, the custom BootMenu will display. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and the power button to select an option. Select Boot > Set Default > Normal > Go Back > Reboot System. After the phone has fully booted up, power it off and reboot again. If the custom recovery installed properly, a blue LED on the phone should briefly light up each time the phone reboots (while the Motorola logo is being displayed).
Turn off USB debugging on the phone (Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging), then power off the phone. Press the power button to turn the phone on again, and as soon as the blue LED lights up, press the volume down button. The custom BootMenu will display. Select Recovery > Custom Recovery.
In custom recovery, Wipe DATA/Factory reset, then Wipe CACHE Partition. Also go to Advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Then select Go Back > install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard, and install the stable build of CM7 (the file called “update-cm-7.1.0-11-Defy-signed.zip”). In the same way, install the google apps zip file (optional, but you won't have the Android Market or any other google apps unless you install it).
Then select "Go Back", wipe data, cache, and dalvik again (not strictly necessary, but may help to avoid some problems), then select "reboot system now”.
Once the phone has fully booted, you’ll have to switch the cellular radio bands to match the frequencies used by your carrier. A baseband switcher app is included with CM7. (In the 7.1.0-11 build of CM7, the baseband switcher can be found in the app tray, and is called “DEFY baseband switcher.” In the latest nightly builds, it is in Settings > Device settings > Baseband switcher.) Open the baseband switcher, click on the tab for your region, and select the option for your carrier. The phone will have to be rebooted again.
Thank s for the info .
Before doing this thing ( root + flash a new rom ) i have some questions.
1 . At the end of that youtube tutorial is the last reboot , then the home screen , apps etc . In my case the logo was running , and after that nothing. i had to pull out the battery
2. If i understood correctly i need to Wipe DATA/Factory reset, then Wipe CACHE Partition then Wipe Dalvik Cache before installing the new rom .
First time i did it without "wipe dalvik cache" . IT s important regarding wifi ?
3. I can go back to the original rom if something will go wrong ?
4.
Then select "Go Back", wipe data, cache, and dalvik again (not strictly necessary, but may help to avoid some problems), then select "reboot system now”.

What problems ?
I saw a bunch of threads regarding the wifi problem , i really need it and i don t want to go trough that panic feeling about the black screen , brick , you name it .
If you want to be able to go back to your present configuration easily without flashing another SBF in RSD Lite, you can back up your system in custom recovery before wiping data etc.
In custom recovery, go to Backup and restore > Backup, and this will create a backup image of your entire system on the SD card. (It’s a lot like creating a “restore point” in a Windows computer. It’s a good idea to back up your entire system like this from time to time anyway.)
Then, if you ever want to return the phone to its present state, just go into custom recovery again and select Recovery > Custom Recovery > Backup and restore > Restore (system & data), then select the system image that you’ve created.
I don't know if wiping cache & dalvik before and after installing CM7 will solve the wifi problem or not, but it's worth a try. If the wifi still doesn't work, you could also try flashing a more recent nightly build after flashing the stable version.
If that doesn't work either, you could then try installing an earlier build of CM7 -- some of those had different wifi modules, which may work better for you. Some earlier builds are available here: http://defy.wdscript.fr/jordan-nightly/
(look for the builds that say "BOOT" in the filename -- for example "cm7-110911-1924-BOOTWIFI3-Jordan.zip")
If the wifi works well with one of those, then you could install a more recent nightly (without the kernel) over it.
Thanks again .
I ll be back monday with an update on my phone status .

Can you guide me to what old versions exactly to look for ?

How to Solve the Motorola Defy ME525 WiFi Problem, WiFi Connected But No Internet Access serach this on google . IT s the first link chromloop
The problem you described (where the wifi keeps saying scanning > connecting > disconnected) can sometimes be solved simply by "forgetting" all your saved Wi-Fi networks and then re-adding them. Try this: go into Wi-Fi settings, long-press on each saved network, and select "Forget network." Then try adding a network again and see if it connects.
If that doesn't work, then you can try installing an earlier boot version.

Just go into the custom recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, then flash the zip file. (You don't even have to wipe data/factory reset again. Then you won't lose all your apps and settings.)
Here's a link to download the earlier boot versions: http://defy.wdscript.fr/jordan-nightly/
I'd recommend trying each of the following, in the order listed:
cm7-110911-1924-BOOTWIFI3-Jordan.zip
cm7-110822-1650-BOOT179-4-Jordan.zip
cm7-110817-1717-BOOT179-Jordan.zip
cm7-110726-0018-BOOTSEA-Jordan.zip
cm7-110615-1323-BOOT177-Jordan.zip
cm7-110610-0726-BOOT343-Jordan-downgrade.zip
Hopefully one of those will solve your wi-fi problem. If that works, then you can try flashing a more recent nightly build (without the kernel) over the working boot version, so you'll still have the latest features.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
Well the other night i disabled the wireless n function on defy by this tutorial .
Follow the steps:
1. Use the Root explorer, open this file path: “/etc/wifi/”,
2. Use the file editor to open the “tiwlan.ini”.
3. Find this two lines below, change the value if it is not 0.
HT_Enable = 0 # 0=diable 802.11n support
BurstModeEnable = 0 # 0 - Disabled 1 - Enabled
4. Save the file, then reboot your Defy.
And now shows me this Scanning... => Connecting... => Obtaining an ip address ...
I managed to connect to the internet trough wifi only if i had this settings on my modem . Huawei Hg655b but my Notebook Asus n53sv don t want to connect .
See the file attached . "Wifi on phone"
Second try , i activated the wep encryption and kept the other settings .
This time the Notebook connects just fine , but the phone is stuck on "Obtaining an ip address "
See the file attached "Notebook only"
2nd Problem . Market don t work . the version of google apps that i used is this : gapps-gb-20110828-signed
I attached an image with the error message .
Third problem . There is an official gingerbread rom from motorola for my defy or a good froyo rom ? ( no bloatware , and motorola crap )
The last thing that annoyed me was this rom , it s not fluid , it s laggy , not much but you can see it . . The games run good , no lag and i m afraid to oc the processor to 1000 mhz because the battery life .
That's strange that you're having so many problems with CM7. I wonder if the stable version you downloaded was a corrupted file... Maybe check to see if the MD5sums match. (You can get the MD5sum here: http://www.defy-cm.net/ )
There is an official gingerbread rom from motorola for my defy or a good froyo rom ?

No, the official gingerbread roms from Moto are only for the Defy+. If you install them on the Defy, your camera won't work (unless you have a red lense defy), and if you flash the full SBF you won't be able to downgrade to Froyo again.
However, there are a few other good gingerbread roms besides CM7 that work on Defy with green lense. You could try GreenbreadMod or the "Greenbread" version of MS2Ginger. You could also try MIUI (although that's based on CM7).
It s not a good experience for my first root & flash .
I can get back to the official 2.2 rom ?
If yes where i can find it ? Is possible to use moto update software like when i upgrated to 2.2 from 2.1 ?
The only things i want to do with this phone is to use it like a regulary phone , making photos , going on "trips" ( pool and beach) and game .
No wifi problems , No android market problems , just official 2.2. I m tired
Thx for your help again and again .
Someone tried to send it to the warranty with the official rom ?
Yes, you can easily restore it to the official rom if you have either an SBF or a nandroid backup of the official rom. Where are you from, and who is your cellular carrier? Sometime later today (hopefully), I'll write a quick tutorial for returning your phone to its stock condition.
I m from Romania and my carrier is ORANGE.
Did you backup your stock ROM in custom recovery before you installed CM7? If so, you can use that. Otherwise, you'll have to download the firmware (.sbf file) for your region. You may be able to find a working download link on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116732
Let me know which you will use (either the "nandroid" backup from custom recovery or the .sbf file), and I'll explain how to install it.

No , because it wasn t the official rom . After that mess ( 1st post ) ,i bricked the phone and my only option to get back was to flash with rsd this rom : JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_117-002_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8RTGB035.0R_USAJRDNFRYORTGB_P003_A002_HWp3_Service1FF ( Wifi not working on this rom too )
This sbf is good ? "Original SBF mirror: http://www.multiupload.com/29QIKQH3W9"
Or "Anyway I made signed version.

Yes, that's the one you want. The one you mentioned in your first post was made for the UK.
Now i download that original sbf .
What s Next ?
Before flashing an sbf file, it is recommended to wipe data and cache in the stock recovery. To get into the stock recovery, power off the phone, hold in the volume- button then also press and hold the power button. After a few seconds you should see a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, and a little green android guy below that. Then press the volume+ and volume- buttons at the same time, and a menu should appear. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, and the power button to select an option. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and also "wipe cache partition".
Then power off the phone again (or pull the battery). Make sure the battery is fully charged. Hold in the hold in the volume+ button and the power button at the same time. After about 5 seconds, release the buttons. The bootloader should display – it will show the version and a battery check. Then connect the phone to your computer and flash the sbf file using RSD Lite. (I'm assuming you already know how to do that, since you've done it before.) Wait until the phone has fully rebooted and RSD Lite says “Pass” before closing RSD Lite and disconnecting the USB cable. As an extra precaution, I usually power off the phone before disconnecting the cable.
Good luck!
i flashed the official rom and the wifi is still not working .
IT s stuck on this : Scanning... => Connecting... => Obtaining an ip address ... and sometimes it s connected to my wifi , but with no internet connection
The 3G is working .
I will play with the wifi settings to make it work .
You have any sollutions ?
That's very strange. Have you tried using it with a different wireless router? Maybe your router is the problem. Or your phone might have a hardware problem. Is it still under warranty?
Yes is still under warranty . Was bought last year on march .
After some tries on my router i was able to connect but without internet acces .
Other wireless router i don t have , but these days i ll go to check if the phone can connect to other wifi networks .
***Warning, this will void your phone's warranty, may make it a brick, could make your kitten cry, etc... I am not responsible if anything goes wrong.***
I put this together for a friend and thought I would share on XDA. I am not a developer or expert by any means. If you have any issues with what you find here, please comment and I (or others) will try to help. I will update this as we go depending on everyone's experience. You may not need all sections, but use the one's you want.
This if for the p930 model only. I am not familiar with ways to do this on other models.
Read EVERYTHING and make sure you follow the directions.
Rooting the phone (which is required to do everything nefarious/fun with your phone):
Download the super one click program to your computer (home one) to root the phone. It will probably be blocked at work. http://depositfiles.com/files/n0dcxce3t
Download and install the LG drivers on your computer. http://s3.amazonaws.com/lgforum.com/resources/assets/680/original/LGP930.zip?1322664514
If installing SuperOneClick on Windows XP, make sure the .NET Framework v2.0 or above is installed. Windows Vista or 7 is fine.
Enable USB Debugging mode on your Android: Tap Menu > Settings > Applications > Development. Then enable USB debugging.
Verify that your SD card is not mounted: Tap Menu > SD Card & Phone Storage, and tap Unmount SD Card.
Allow install from Unknown Sources: Tap Menu > Security > check Unknown Sources.
Once downloaded, unzip the folder and run SuperOneClick.exe.
Then plug your Android into the computer via the USB cable that came with the phone.
Finally, click the Root button on SuperOneClick. Let it do its thing. If it doesn’t work, try it again. Might take a couple of tries.
Installing the Clockwork Mod Recovery Program (which lets you load the ICS ROM/software/backup/restore/other cool things):
Go to the Market/Play Store on the phone and download/install “ROM Manager” (just the free version is fine).
Open the app and choose “Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery”
Choose your device type “ATT Nitro HD/p930” and let it happen.
Downloading the ICS Software/ROM and Google Apps Zip File:
Then, in the phone’s browser, go to http://get.cm/?device=p930 and download the latest “nightly” file to the SD card. Just click on the blue link and it should start automatically.
Download this file (it’s the Google apps for the phone) http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip
Let both finish downloading.
Installing the ICS software/ROM and Google apps zip:
Open ROM Manager and choose Reboot Into Recovery. Your phone will restart to recovery mode. You use volume up/down to navigate and power to select options.
Choose “Backup and Restore” then “Backup” This will make a complete backup of your phone in case something ever goes wrong. You can use the restore option to restore it.
After the backup is complete, “choose wipe data/factory reset” then “Yes – Delete all user data” (This will wipe the phone).
Then choose install zip from sdcard > choose zip form sd card > Download/
Select the “update – cm 9 file, then choose the “Yes” option again.
Repeat 4 and 5 except choose the gapps file instead of the update – cm9 file in step 5.
Choose “reboot system now” wait for it to boot and you have ICS…
Walk through the steps to set up the phone and enjoy.
Getting updates:
Check back at http://get.cm/?device=p930 for new updates.
Download the new file and install it following steps 1-5 and 7 (you don’t need to reinstall the gapps again or wipe cache/dalvik unless directed to).
You can also get ROM Manager Premium and choose “Check for ROM Updates” vs. downloading.
Optional Stuff:
You can use titanium backup to backup your apps.
Don't restore system apps and restoring missing apps in general can cause problems. It's best to let the market reinstall or manually do it.
Reserved if we run out of space in the first post...
Very helpful. I was waiting for something like this before starting. Thanks!
Just an add on the Rooting point #5:
I don't know if other people experienced the same thing, but after choosing USB debugging, the phone defaulted to "PC Software" when plugging the cable in, making it impossible to unmount the SD card.
The rooting process worked all the same though.
Thanks a lot !!!but if i want to go to original status from cm9 when i have Flashed Clockwork Mod Recovery, how i should do, because i find it can't update over the air though i have restored the system by rom manager...
You would use adb to flash original recovery partition image and then unroot with SuperOneClick. It's dangerous going completely stock for an update because you stand a good chance of being locked out of root for a long time.

Agreed. What are you trying to get out of the update? I don't think kernelpanic is worried about getting the update and incorporating into his ROM since CM 9 is out.

I believe it has to choose one, it can't be in mass storage mode and pc software mode at the same time when it's connected.

Thank you sir !The problem is that i forgot to backup the orignal recovery .i searched it in the forum, but i don't know which is the orignal recovery of nitro hd ,may be a korea edition.
The Kernelpan1c is good ,but i don't like go launcher, because touching the screen sometimes drifts to the bottom, and it never occur by the orignal starter.however, the new update on kernelpan1c or cm9 is worth waiting.

I believe it would be charge only. I am also not sure since I haven't used the stock ROM in a little while. But by enabling USB debugging, it goes straight to PC Software when you plug it in (and this can't be changed), which doesn't allow to unmount the SD card.
Note that this is on the Optimus LTE, perhaps it is different on the Nitro.
i'm currently running the stock rom. the proper selection is pc storage, there is no need to unmount the sd card to root although you can unmount it, you just have to do it prior to plugging the device into the computer.

Hello to all genius folks of xda.
So, I bricked my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (Ze550kl).
Actually, the problem began with error mounting /asdf partition. The phone's home and back buttons were not working, notifications drawer and quick buttons are not there when the notification bar is pulled down.
So, I decided to format it and downgrade to #1531 and then upgrade to #18xx. But when I downgraded, I needed to enable USB debugging. After enabling developer options from build version, the screen says, Developer options not available for this user. I thought I need to create a new user but there was no option in settings to create a new user (I have checked many times and under each sub-option).
Then I decided to format it. In Recovery options, I chose wipe data/factory reset. It wiped along with some erros "unable to mount /asdf (Invalid arguments)". Then I wiped cache partition. When I rebooted it, it stuck in ASUS logo.
Now I don't know how to enable USB debugging as shown in the most tutorials and under cmd "adb devices" there is an empty list of attached devices when in recovery mode. However, when I do "apply update from adb", it is showing my device. My OS in Windows 10 and I have heard that ASUS drivers are not for Windows 10. Help, I am stuck from every side.
I am trying to follow this tutorial to firstly remove the /asdf error. ( https://devs-lab.com/e-unable-to-mount-asdf-recovery-error-solved.html ) But it is for Asus Zenfone 2.
Please help me what and where I am doing wrong. If I can get USB debugging enable somehow, I would be able to follow any tutorial. Please share a guide that can resolve this. I have already wasted 4 days into it but I know guys here are Android gods and they can help me for sure.
If you need more info, here I am to reply as fast as possible.
Thanks a ton in advance.
Solved. It's Working now.
Hello, Everyone.
The power of xda is amazing.
Just 30 minutes before I started this new thread to fix my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. Now, I fixed it. Though credit goes to the link mentioned above (which is actually for all Zenfone 2 phones) It worked.
I thank the site and xda for helping me out.
I will post the guide after few minutes so that anyone having the same problem can fix their device.
Guide to fix Zenfone 2 Laser
So here is the detailed guide for the people who are in similar to mine problem. Please note: I am not at all expert at this stuff. As I have previous experience, so I knew most of the technical stuff.
Device: ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser
Model Number: ZE550KL
System OS: Windows 10 (Website says drivers not available)
Problem
1. The phone got hard bricked. Stuck in ASUS logo.
2. Not able to wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition due to "mount /asdf error".
3. Not able to connect through ADB as the option to enable USB debugging wasn't available.
Symptoms
1. Home and Recent Apps Switcher soft buttons were not working.
2. Developer options say "Developer options not available for this user".
3. No ringtone and notification sounds, in fact, no notifications. at all.
4. No quick action buttons (Wifi and all other buttons) on notification drawer.
5. Apps not downloading from Play Store.
Error: "Error mounting /asdf partition", "Error in /asdf/recovery .... " kinds of error.
Time Taken: 15 Minutes
Downloadable files:
1. UL-Z00L-WW-1.17.40.1531-user.zip
2. All other files
Pre-install set-up:
1. Extract the zip files in "all other files" folder.
2. Paste the stockboot.img file in the extracted "ADB fastboot tool" folder. [Important]
Guide to Fix it.
1. Install ADB-setup executable file. A DOS window will open and opt for all yes. Self-explanatory as you install ADB and fastboot.
2. Go in Asus drivers folder and install (by right click option) on "android_winusb.inf" file located in Win_7_8_8.1 folder
3. Copy the ROM file ( UL-Z00L-WW-1.17.40.1531-user.zip ) in the root of your sdcard.
4. Enter fastboot mode on your device by pressing "UP volume key" and "Power button" until it vibrates. The fastboot text will be there on top-left of your Boot-up screen.
5. Now connect the device to the system.
6. While pressing Shift, right click anywhere ( Make sure you are in the ADB FastBoot Tool folder ) and select open Command Prompt here.
7. Type in the following commands.
> "fastboot flash boot stockboot.img" and press enter. If it says something ok..ok and all, then you are good to go. If not, then you should start a new thread here in XDA. Next, type this,
> "fastboot reboot" and then your device will reboot in recovery mode.
8. In recovery mode, select "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition". Everything should execute without any problem now.
9. Now go to apply update from sd card and select the ROM file ( UL-Z00L-WW-1.17.40.1531-user.zip ) and select yes to install.
10. Once it is installed, your phone will work like it used to be. Install all your apps back and enjoy.
Please note, I am not expert in writing guides. If you need help please ask me.
Hope it fixes your device. If it does, leave a comment, I will be happy if it works.
Good Luck!
Note all devs: I am no expert. If I have done something somewhere wrong, please correct me. The exact method above worked for me though.
I can download firmware but i can't download other files because it's has got paswoord.

1-to root it the first thing is to have OEM Unlock available and enabled in Dev Options
if not keep the device fully on and with data on dont restart, power off or reset for at least 7 days continuously (or a bit more) and you should have it
if it's not shown dot bother with the rest
2-to have Dev Menu available go to settings >> about phone >> software information >> on build number tape multiple times 10 times i guess, you will have a pop up confirmation
once back at settings menu you will find a new choice at the very bottom "Develper Options"
3-next step with to plug ur phone with PC with usb cable
after installing SAMSUNG DRIVERS & ODIN and downloading TWRP (custom recovery)
in ODIN 2nd tab, untick "AUTO REBOOT" VERY VERY IMPORTANT
chose the TWRP file using AP button/option in ODIN
put your phone in download MOD power off completely >> power back on while holding vol+ and vol- at the same time
flash the file using ODIN to your phone
4- now here is the tricky part
after fklashing TWRP if you reboot normaly you will be locked again and you wont have that OEM Unlock option i talked about and you will be stuck
so, after flashing TWRP, press vol- + power button to reboot the phone
AT THE VERY PRECISE MOMENT WHEN PHONE TURN OFF BEFORE POWERING BACK ON WHEN IT BLINK
RELEAS POWER BUTTON AND VOL+ and PRESS POWER BUTTON + VOL+ AGAIN VERY VERY QUICKLY
if successful you should boot into TWRP directly
5-once you are in TWRP wipe everything then format the device (ALL DATA WILL BE LOST)
of course you need to have the needed files already copied in the SD CARD
from twrp after the wipe and formatiing
go to install and flash in that order RMM_Bypass_v3_corsicanu or RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2
then no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0
then at the end flash Magisk-v19.3
once its done reboot the phone normally, you will have your phone working as normal
once you are in, install Magisk APK MagiskManager-v7.3.2
reboot again
and voilaaa, you should have root and everything should be functional for you
although of course I will not be responsible for any kind of software or hardware damage, and certainly not responsible for any data loss
as it is completely you responsibility
all files you could possibly need will be in attachments if I can attach them
dd tried but couldnt attach them, so ull have to gather them ur self from previous posts
otherwise everything is in the original post of the owner, i did not add or moded anything, i am not a dev
I just gatherded the infos already shared
https://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nuary-t3760975
so big thanks to the original devs for the great work

#1 ans 2 are kinda backwards and #4 is worded pretty badly. Kinda stuck is misleading and doesnt explain what pitfall to avoid. This could do with some edits. I mean this with zero offense and i didnt quote your entire post just in case you do choose to edit it.
I bring this up because your guide was quoted in another thread and caused some confusion especially regarding #4
Perhaps very stupid and ignorant question: after performing step 5 (TWRP wipe everything then format the device- ALL DATA WILL BE LOST), how can I recover all the application data present in the internal memory (which were present before the root) ? Is it enough to have copied the entire internal memory (including the "android and data" folder) and copy it back into the memory or will I have to install all the applications again and redo the entire smartphone setting (wifi, BT settings, menus, etc)? Alternatively, might a Smart Switch backup work?
I really apologize for the ignorance!
IDEA AND NOTICE
So, according to my researches over the Internet, there are plenty of users owning this device looking for this and here I share what I did to root it. Don't worry about the simplicity. You'll just need a little bit command knowledge.
REQUIREMENTS
/ Vestel Venüs V5 (That's our device! - Please turn on USB Debugging in Developer Settings for everything to work well.)
/ A working Internet connection (You don't want to have a broken root, do you?)
/ Stock boot.img (I extracted+uploaded myself)
/ Magisk Manager (To patch the stock boot.img - Couldn't put a link to it as XDA appears to have censorship against it.)
/ A computer with ADB and Fastboot installed (To flash our boot.img - For Windows, I recommend using 15-second ADB installer to install if you don't have it.)
/ A USB Type-C cable (To transfer our patched image to the computer)
WARNINGS
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please follow the steps as-is. A misstep has the ability to make your phone unbootable without reflashing the ROM.
ATTENTION: BEFORE DOING ANYTHING, TAKE A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DATA AS WE'RE GOING TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER, WHICH WILL RESULT IN FACTORY RESET!
And as everyone says, I'm not responsible about the possibilities on these type of stuff as it worked on me plus I did a thing that nobody did: Mentioned possible problems and their solution.
TUTORIAL
/ At first stage, download the boot.img and Magisk Manager. Don't forget to install Magisk Manager.
/ Now open Magisk Manager and install Magisk. Select file patching as the installation method and point the boot.img you've just downloaded.
/ When download+patch is done, turn on your PC, connect your phone using USB cable and transfer "magisk_patched.img", which will be placed in your phone's internal storage's download folder.
/ Then, open a command prompt (Windows)/Terminal window (Linux - MacOS), navigate to the folder that you've transferred patched image to.
/ Now restart your phone into Fastboot.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
/ Make sure your phone is being detected by your PC. For Windows, you have to open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and update the device "Android" online.
/ When all done and you made sure your PC detects your phone in Fastboot, unlock the bootloader first.
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
/ Check your phone. It has to show a warning regarding to bootloader unlocking. If it does, use Vol- button to highlight "Yes". But before having this done, again, make sure you backed literally all your data up. If you're sure, just hit Power button and accept unlocking. Your phone will reboot and will see a warning regarding to software checking. On that screen, press a random volume button and select Fastboot. We're not done yet.
/ Now, finally, flash the image we patched and transferred earlier.
Code:
fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched/image
For my case, as a Windows user;
Code:
C:\adb\fastboot.exe flash boot C:\Users\owZ\Documents\magisk_patched.img
/ When it's done, reboot your phone regularly. Don't forget that the warning I've mentioned will come up until you lock the bootloader, which I don't recommend. Also, since we didn't allow it to do the factory reset before, it's going to do the reset now.
Code:
fastboot reboot
/ When your phone boots up and you set it up regularly, head to Magisk Manager website and install Magisk Manager again. If you want, you can now integrate it to the system using Root Essentials or some other apps.
PROBLEMS
/ When trying to remount/modify /system partition, phone freezes until I do hard reset! - To solve, you have to literally reset your phone!
/ Most of the times; when trying to apply/remove a substratum legacy theme, the phone freezes. - Because it tries to modify /system partition - It requires reset to solve. If you're removing the theme, you can use Lucky Patcher to remove the overlays as LP uses a different method to remove system apps. But be careful that if you remove Android System/System UI overlay, you have to reboot your system (Android System overlays)/System UI (System UI overlays) not to cause infinite boot!
/ Magisk Manager has a few seconds of latency for showing root confirmation dialog - It's a problem with Magisk itself, not the phone.
/ The phone freezes upon opening ES File Explorer - I guess you tried to mount a system partition through it - Clear its data, reboot your phone and try to open it again.
/ After I successfully modify /system partition and reboot the phone, it gets stuck on branding screen - Go to recovery, press both three keys (Power, Vol+, Vol-) using a flat surface to show up the options (I recommend a desk), mount /system there and reboot. If this doesn't solve, do same but also clear cache.
/ Xposed Framework fails to install, freezing my phone - Original Xposed causes that, right. Just install it through Magisk Manager. Don't forget to install patched Xposed Installer there, too. This will also clear Dalvik-cache, which will result in really long boot for the first time as Android detects it as a system update.
UPDATE
About /system mounting, I've just found a workaround and it appears to work really well here.
/ First, to make sure /system mount is not busy, go to recovery, activate it by pressing all three buttons (Power+Volume keys) and select Mount /system.
/ When mounting is done, reboot your phone regularly.
/ Now go to Magisk settings and find Magisk Core/Safe mode. Enable it.
/ Then reboot to recovery, repeating step 1 and 2.
/ After all, do whatever you want to on /system. Don't forget that you will need to do these every time you reboot.

Have you tried patching the boot.img I extracted? It works just fine here.
