S4 Mini I9195 - totally dead but drains battery - unique problem - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A few days ago the S4 mini got hot and froze and I turned it off and turned it on again but it got stuck at the Samsung logo (for the past month it used to drain the battery quicker than normal).
I then turned it off and on again and it got stuck on the same Samsung logo screen.
When I tried to turn it on again it didn't work and hasn't worked since.
Problems:
Doesn't turn on or vibrate
It doesn't charge the battery.
Doesn't boot up in recovery mode
What I have tried so far:
I have drained the electric charge in the circuit board by holding the power button without the battery inserted
I have used another charged battery and the S4 mini doesn't turn on nor does it charge that battery. HOWEVER it completely drains a charged battery! This is really odd....
I have opened the phone and nothing seems burnt nor is the power button broken
When I connect the phone to a computer the computer pings and acknowledges a device is connected but then immediately makes the sound when a device disconnects...
I just want to get some data off the phone which was saved to the phone memory.
Any help will be appreciated.

Any help please?

Can you see anything showing up in the Device Manager? If it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD or Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (depending on drivers installed), you can use a debrick.img for your phone to enable Download mode.
The two threads belowed helped me to partly fix my problem.

Seems like many Samsung S4 Mini dies after 4 years (eMMC failure/corruption), so I have already ordered a new phone myself (Xiaomi Redmi 4X) as a replacement.

sounds exactly like my phone, gets hot and drains the battery frequently, even if its turned off,

No I get no notification in device manager.
The other day I purchased a DC / AC power unit and connected the cables to the positive and negative terminals (where the battery would sit) in the hope the phone will fire up. I turned up the voltage to 10 after 5 didn't work and I smelt burning. I thought some more voltage would help....
After that the computer doesn't make that sound anymore when you connect / disconnect a USB device.
I connected the terminals to a working a phone and the phone turned on without the battery at 5v.

well flashing a different rom did help, and using a slightly different battery (not original-compatible) on the phone also helped,
but otherwise not much helped to fix this phone.

[Q] Nexus Power Woes - Troubleshooting assistance request

I've never been in this situation before, and I'm hoping that throwing this out there will either help me think this through, or at least get someone who has seen this before.
Situation is as follows:
Battery Only, device will not power on.
Wall Charger Only (battery removed), device will not power on.
The only way I can get the device to boot is the following procedure: Plug into Wall, Insert Battery, Power On
Battery > Wall does NOT work.
I can boot into CyanogenMod no problem.
I can boot into ODIN no problem.
I can boot into bootloader no problem.
I cannot boot into recovery via any method. (I reinstalled recovery via ROM Manager after it wouldn't work. No Change)
I cannot use a PC-USB cable to power on the device. As soon as I unplug the device from the wall it powers off, so I can not get it connected to a PC.
If I plug the device into a PC - the PC notices there is an OMAP device attached for about 1s, then it vanishes. About 1s later, it reappears.
When the device is booted into CM, it shows the battery at 99%/100%.
My current theory is it's a bad battery, but I don't have a spare to test with. Based on this information, is bad battery what everyone else is thinking?
Thanks for the help!

During that 1s that the device appears, you have to manually feed it the drivers for omapflash - I'm not sure, but I think the naked drivers available on the dev section support this.
Since it boots to Android fully, under a certain condition, I'm inclined to think you don't need omapflash, but a new battery.
Sent from my Nexus
I spent hours today wading through the OMAP Flash threads, found the appropriate tool, and it runs perfectly.
At this point, I think it's either a battery issue, or the motherboard has some serious issues and is requiring more power than normal to run.
I'll have to hit up Verizon tomorrow and see if they have any in store I can test with.
Thanks for the feedback.
Huzzah!
Somehow I have been paying $2 a month for extended warranty..... I would be pissed, but now I can abuse it.
Now I just need to clear my trail, or break it so good they can't tell.
Suggestions?

While in cyanogen replace your boot animation with stock and delete your framework-res. Unless cyanogen keeps and makes use of a backup that should make your phone hang at the boot animation.

LG Optimus G Pro F240L bricked, no boot, no download mode, no charging, please help

Am having this LG Optimus G Pro F240L for about a year. I have rooted it 2 months ago via CWM, but am on stock ROM. Two months ago, it started behaving badly, as it Front Soft Keys stopped working, and it pull me out of every app, seems like back key is being pressed without actually touching it (though the keys were not working actually). I have installed Ultimate Dynamic Navbar Pro app to get the Search, Back, Home, Menu, and 3 Dot keys on display, which helped me to keep this phone working easily. Until last night, everything was working smoothly, it had no other problem than those soft keys not working.
Last night, I didn't put it on charging, as I used to do regularly. It was around 40% battery when I put phone on my desk before sleeping. Today when I tried to unlock it, pressing unlock key, it showed nothing. I pressed it long thinking it might be off, but nothing happened, so I put it on charging, thinking the battery is drained completely. but even after an hour, it doesn't seems to be charging as bo red light was there on home button. I pulled out battery, wait for around 5 mins and put battery there, but no luck. I then grabbed my multimeter to check battery voltages, it shows 3.97V. Now when I put the multi-meter probes on VCC(Red probe) and GND(Black probe) pins on phone, it shows 0.434V without battery and 0.560V with battery inserted.
I charged my battery a little bit potential difference with an universal battery charger, upto 4.12V, but still the phone is not booting. I also checked for the power button failure, as there might be a chance of loose contact of pins underside the board(read somewhere), but it was fine.
Am not able to figure out where is the fault. If uUSB charging jack is crappy, then after charging the battery from other source must have worked, also if charging jack is fine, then the potential difference across VCC and GND must be around 4+Volts which is merely around a half volt.
I tried to get into CWM but no luck, I tried to get into download mode(pressing both volume keys and inserting uUSB just after it), but still no luck. I don't know how it got bricked, as I haven't made any changes recently, I was using it at a daily go. God knows what happened to it. It is out of warranty, again am out of luck.
please help me....
I have only LGFlastool_1.5.10.1120, LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3. 8.1, a Windows 7 and a Windows 8 pc, a fast broadband internet, Android SDK installed with adb drivers, and a knowledge of how to root and flash ROMs(had several android phones over past years, rooted and installed several ROMs like cyanogenmod on Samsung Galaxy Wave II, Samsung Galaxy S I9000, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Sony Xperia J, Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, and a several ROMSs like PACMAN, SlimROM, SpeedDroid, MarvellousSense on HTC Wildfire S A150E) and flashing CWM recoveries aka recovery.img and boot.img from cmd and Flashtools.
I need your help, as all this knowledge is useless without your help, please help me, am stuck here so badly. I'm ready to take chances, please I beg you...

I agree. G pro is nice phone even after 3 years.
If you cannot power up the phone , most likely the rom is broke, connect to your PC to see if it is in Qualcomm diag mode and use Qualcomm software to flash the bootloader

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
I achieved to be see the phone in diag mode but i have no such files (*.xml, *.mbn etc.). Where can i get theese required files?

[Q] Did my Nexus brick itself? (qhsusb_dloader)

I had not yet updated to 5.0.2, was planning on it soon. Saw the update show up a little bit ago.
The battery was low, so I plugged it in. It seemed to be charging, was up to 22% I think. I went to Google Play to download a puzzle game. Anyway, the download stalled the tablet became unresponsive.... then it shut off and restarted. It went to the "Google" screen that shows on startup. (Still plugged in). I left it there assuming it would just finish the boot. But it didn't. I came back over an hour later and it was still there, with the Google screen. I waited another 30 mins... while watching it.
At that point, I felt safe that it really had stalled. I held the power button down to have it shut off fully. Then, it would not come back on. I've had it plugged in (very sure the charger works... we have 2 Nexus 7s, and the other charges just fine with the same adapater/usb cord. ) When I plugged the usb into my computer (Windows 7), the computer tried to install driver (I have connected it many times to my computer, have the proper drivers already installed). This time, it failed to have the right drivers.
I checked the Device manager and it shows a device "QHSUSB_DLOAD" , which is apparently my Nexus. I did a search here and only found that some people held their power button down for a minute and resolved it. (Tried it, didn't work). I can't get it to boot up at all, not into the bootloader or anything.
Any other suggestions? I used this thing a lot - did not mess with it much. I had long ago used wug's toolkit to root, and rooted again when the OTA broke root. But it has been a long time since I last used to the tooklit. It is hard to accept having a self-bricked tablet if I hardly did anything to brick it. If I had been messing with stuff and made some critical error and messed it up, then okay... I'd be made but accept it on account of my own stupidity. But this seemed to happen all by its lonesome.
I believe "QHUSB_DLOAD" is the end of the line for a Qualcomm chip, I say this because on my galaxy s3 (us) and my Sony Ericsson Xperia play "QHSUSB_DLOAD" ment that the device was bricked all the way and the only way to fix was a JTAG.
"QHSUSB_DLOAD" stands for Qualcomm high speed USB download mode, this usually happens when the boot loader and or trim area has been dameged or erased from the device leaving the soc with no instruction on how to boot, I also believe that Qualcomm or manufacturers are the only ones that can write to a device in this state.
Sorry about your misfortune and then again I might be wrong and it might be a easy fix but in my past experience with QCOMM devices this has been the case.
If your device is under warranty I would go ahead and send it in for repairs.

Z5P bricked after 3 vibrations reset... No chance for repair service nor warranty(UB)

Hello!
Well, I had the really bad luck of a very bad hard brick... my xperia was on low battery (around 15%) the last time that I use it, then around 20min later I got it and try to check, but screen didn't turn on, and the Led was blinking White color, since I deal in the past with this issues (around 3 or 4 times), I connect the usb cable to power adapter and simply did the reset button under sim flap, and my phone made the normal 3 vibrations, so, I hope that everything was fine, however, after that, I simply try turn on it, but never happen, No led of charge, no more vibrations and no power on, no signal of operation at all... so, I test remove and reconnect the usb cable and nothing, so, I try make another sim flap reset button test, but at this time and until now, no more 3 vibrations response and nothing else... and now, after reading some many posts, and try everything suggested in other posts about I really sad and hope for some help or feedback, if somebody may help...
By now I tested on my windows 7 notebook, and at first the phone was not recognized by drivers however it shows the bad message QHUSB_BULK error usb device, in later attempts, I made after some buttons tests looking for some response I got the phone change the messague, at the moment of connect it with usb cable to my pc, it was recognized as SEMC Flash Device... In both cases windows didnt allow or recognized for a proper driver installation....
But after other attempts, I lost the SEMC Flash Device status, and by now not remember what I did to get this mode or if it may be of some help...
By now I am really worry, since I got my phone from Hong Kong, and it came and worked fine until today, but in my country there is no service for this model since it not still on sale at official dealers/ carriers, and I believe that I don't have warranty service (since is an international purchase and not on local dealer) and also because I Unlock Bootloader for getting root and Sony records that information for warranty purposes (since I unlocked BL, I installed TWRP then I installed the romAUR custom rom and I upgraded it to 1.25 version with last kernel available from the same rom thread but thas was a month ago and phone worked fine after all custom rom installation)...
By now, I would like to ask if may be possible please, some guidance and help...
1) I was made attempts by the last 6 hours after brick without luck, and I wonder and suppose that the battery may be very low, but since I don't get any charging led, I wonder if by left It connected to the original sony charger with original sony cable (almost new and working both, and also tested both with other cell), my bricked phone may still get some charge on the battery.... somebody konws if possible to charge an xperia bricked?... I wonder/hope about that, if may be a charged battery may help in got the 3 vibes reset again that I hope may fix the issue and return my phone to boot...
2) Since seems that i don't have chance to get repair service on warranty since I unlocked my phone (and in my country the cost service for such model could easily be so high as almost a new phone), and also low chance for a warranty replacement from seller, I wonder about take the chance of open it and try to remove battery connector at a last resort since , I may suppose that this may allow for clear internal electrical charged registers of system and may allow me for a reset, but I wonder if the white flap sim buttons really did the same, that is simply open the battery connections, but, I doubt about that, since in this procedure the cel made 3 vibes and the energy for the vibes need to come form a connected battery...
3) May somebody with more luck, knowledge and experience, may suggest or share some help or advice about this issue...
I am a long time cell phone fan and long time in the issues of unlocking and installing custom roms, but until today, and after I survived many other phones bricks, my highest and loved phone of all my time, is bricked in a way that I am start to desperate, since I almost no clue by now about what could I try looking for a fix....
So, thanks in advance and if some body may help, I would be very grateful....
Is there really a reset button under the sim flap? Maybe you damaged the internals when trying this..

Yes, I've used it many times it's highly unlikely to damage it from that. Unless you press it harder than a gentle touch.

Yes, there it is, well, by now I am collecting more info and try about fully discharge my phone in order to get a RED permanent charging Led light (for future reference, seems that a Pulsing RED charging led means NO detection of battery...), by no today at morning I put my phone on charger and it only warn a little, and according with some info, the best chance by now is to plug it for a long time (other models of xperia reports around wait 24+ hours for get a RED permanent light...)
By now, I already purchased a set of adhesive gaskets, in preparation to open my phone (I did in the past and have some skills for doing it, but not that I really like to do over a so new and expensive phone... ), since by now, if I fail in got a RED permanent charging light, seems that the next step is to open back cover a remove battery connector, plug in usb cable connected to wall charger and then after 3 minutes wait, reconnect battery connector with the usb cable still attached, this would reset a really brick phone, and suppose tho reset the charging process of xperias...
By now, and in case of help other people that may need it now or in future, the guide that I am following advice is this:
[GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
The info in the page seems with lots of sense, and the charging process description seems very similar at I would believe could be used in my previously Z2 and my now in comma, Z5P.... But by now, I need to get a RED light in order to try to unbrick without need to open back cover glass....
Any info, advice, comments or better, experience share, would be very gratefull...
Best regards...
Did you ever solve the problem? My Z5 died and wont turn on. Flashing lights when the usb is plugged in. Tried unplugging the battery and charging for hours
you have no fastboot ( vol+ blue led ) and no flashmode ( vol- green led )?
No, only a flashing red light when plugged in. The phone dos not react to any buttons.
Sony Xperia Companion does not recognize the phone.
"lsusb" in linux shows nothing when i plug the phone in.

I know you probably have but did you try holding volume up and power to force reset it?
You say you couldn't get a proper installation of hardware, so the computer can see the device? Is it showing an exclamation point next to the device driver?

Edit: Go to device manager and right click phone and do update drivers.
Click browse for update yourself and direct it to WINDOWS/INF folder and check "include subfolders".
Then click where it says "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Then click Android phone from the list and click MTP USB driver and click OK for install.
Your phone should be installed correctly.
Then try fastboot etc.

What happen with my Galaxy Note 2 (GT-7100)?

Yesterday tonight, I intended to flash rom for my phone (Note 2 GT-7100). I turned off it and go to download mode -> OK. However, then, I didn't want to flash so I turned off the phone by removing the battery. Then the phone became a brick. I can't turn on to go to android (it is not problem before) neither download mode or anything. Note: my phone was just at download mode and connected with PC by cable, and PC run nothing.
One thing, when connect the phone to charger, it is hot at where near camera, both with battery and without battery.
Please let me known what happen with my phone? and How to fix the problem.
Thanks so much.
I had the same heat problem with my Samsung s4. When connected to a charger or even when it was running on battery power, it got really hot, so hot I was afraid the plastic would start to melt. I could not find a solution so I had to replace the motherboard. After replacing only the motherboard, everything was fine with the phone.
